A/N: Hello, everyone. Before we begin, I'm just going to answer a few of the questions and/or requests that I've been asked REPEATEDLY on both FF and AO3. I try to answer each person personally, but sometimes I get so many replies it's hard to keep up with who I have and haven't answered, or they're guests on FF who I CAN'T personally message and answer. So, without further ado, here are the things people ask me over and over that I will give you a DEFINITIVE answer for.
1: Please have them react to Ultimate alien!
Okay, I've heard ALL of the arguments and people have given me A LOT of reasons why it's not really that bad and why I should cover it. So, yes. I will be doing Ultimate Alien, but I remain firm on my stance of not doing Omniverse.
2: How will they react to Ben killing Zombozo or his other enemies?
I basically had them SAY this in the last chapter, but in the situation where Ben's actions result in his enemies death, he is in the middle of a deadly situation, so him using lethal force is justified to ensure his own survival. It's self-defense... And, for the record, ZOMBOZO DOES NOT DIE IN LAST LAUGH! BEN DID NOT KILL HIM!
3: So, once all the aliens are introduced, will that make working on chapters faster so you can update more often?
I update roughly once a month. I think that's pretty respectable. I try my best to make these chapters as good as I can in a timely manner. Please respect that. I'm already neglecting my original story, Class 1-A's Secret Family, to put more work into this one. If I go any faster and rush to get chapters out, that will wind up hurting the overall quality of the chapters and my overall enjoyment of making this story. Every time you all as me to update soon or faster, I literally feel like I'm dying a little. I GUARANTEE at least one person who started writing a reaction story stopped due to burnout after people just keep asking to update faster. These stories really are a lot of work, especially for the authors that go the full length and write out all the lines and actions in the chapter, rather than ones that just put the timestamps or only the most basic descriptions of what is happening or being said.
I am grateful you all enjoy the story, but everyone constantly asking for updates to happen sooner really starts to drain me and make all the work I just did to put out the most recent chapter feel unappreciated. It's like you're saying "Hey, great. Now hurry up with the next one".
4: Will you add any more characters?
I've answered this one before, but I still occasionally see it, so I'll say it again: No. I'm already finding it difficult to make reactions for the characters feel both unique and in character, as well as the chapters being quite a bit longer than I'd like. I wouldn't be able to handle any others. And pro tip for anyone who decides to do a reaction fic: try to limit yourself to less than 20 characters, which is already difficult for MHA, as generally, people use the 20 students of class 1-A, plus a few teachers. Otherwise, it will be pretty challenging to give everyone a decent amount of lines that don't feel repetitive or like something someone else already said, out of character or out of place.
So, there we go. Those are all the questions or requests I get on a regular basis. For those that asked these questions, I hope these answers are sufficient and for everyone else, I hope this gives you some things to think about. And now, onto the reactions!
"You're freaking kidding me?! This kid's got his own goddamn theme song!? And I don't!? This is bullshit!" Bakugo snapped again.
"Well, your class as a whole has a theme song, if that helps." Anemone said.
"And people have written raps about pretty much all of you individually... Except Aoyama, Ojiro, Sato, Koda and Hagakure." Maverick added. [1]
"Aww! No fair!" Hagakure pouted.
"Don't worry, Toru. Maybe I could come up with raps for all of you guys." Jiro offered.
"Ah, merci beaucoup, mademoiselle Jiro!" Aoyama said in a dramatically grateful manner.
"Still, this just means that Ben is a great hero if people wrote him his own theme song and even an intro for a show." Midoriya said, amazed. Things like that only happened for the top five heroes. So Ben must have reached All Might levels of notoriety!
"I bet it's gonna be super manly and awesome!" Kirishima cheered.
"I hope it gives all the aliens a nice bit of time in the spotlight!" Ashido said excitedly.
"Well, let's not waste any more time then. Here we go!" Anemone declared, starting the screen.
The view flew through the solar system with the classic eerie alien theme playing in the background, before kicking to a rock theme as a silhouette of Ben was seen on the Omnitrix dial, a background light shifting colors, before engulfing the screen. "It started when an alien device did what it did! And stuck itself upon his wrist with secrets that it hid! Now he's got super powers, he's no ordinary kid! He's Ben 10!" The vocalist sang the story as the familiar seen was shown of Ben reaching out for the Omnitrix, the device leaping onto his arm as he flailed to remove it, before pressing the dial down as the rocks that were Heatblast's skin spread to his eyes, which engulfed the view, the words "Ben 10!" flying at the screen repeatedly as a backup singer quietly repeated "Ben 10!"
Ashido squealed in joy when she heard a familiar sound in the intro. "EEE! It's the alien noise they use in all the campy alien movies! I love it! so iconic and symbolic! You hear that noise and you IMMEDIATELY and ONLY think 'aliens'!" She said happily.
"I kind of liked seeing the solar system. It's amazing just how much is or could be out there past the limits of our world." Todoroki said, admiring the galaxy that was shown.
"Very true. There's beauty in the mystery of the unknown. And, with the possible exception of the ocean depths, there is no greater unknown than space." Tokoyami agreed.
"Yeah! And it's the darkest place in the universe! I'd be unstoppable!" Dark Shadow declared.
And then the music finally kicked in, most of the students immediately getting hooked. "Oh, hell yeah! This goes hard!" Bakugo exclaimed.
"This is SO rockin'! That beat drop was amazing! And the instruments all work really great together: the drum's keeping a constant beat, the bass rifts are powerful, but spaced out so they aren't OVERPOWERING, the first guitar rift was amazing and the occasional huge notes from the brass instruments added that cool, but unnatural kind of alien element to it that fits SO well for an adventure mostly revolving around aliens! And the woodwinds in the break between lyrics also gives it an extra unnatural, creepy alien edge that works so good!" Jiro said excitedly, Yaoyorozu holding her shoulders to keep her from practically jumping out of her seat.
"I like the part where they whisper 'Ben 10!' over and over. Like whispers of a new hero on the horizon!" Hagakure said, only a little less giddy than Jiro.
"Definitely sticks in your head and makes you remember him." Mineta admitted.
"The lyrics are quite fitting as well. The first line was very clever to allow them to work in the 'secrets that it hid' line, which is definitely true. No one would dismiss the Omnitrix as a strange, but simple watch, unaware of its true capabilities." Yaoyorozu added.
"And I loved seeing the footage of Ben getting the Omnitrix again. It's like watching the beginning of a legend in the making!" Kirishima declared.
"Gotta admit, that first transformation is a lot less scary now that we know its not horrifically mutating him." Sero agreed.
"The close-up on his eye was pretty cool, too!" Uraraka said happily.
"It only makes sense, little listener! They say the eyes are the window to the soul, zooming in on his eye like that is a popular dramatic move to show something incredible is about to happen to that person, for better or worse." Present Mic explained.
"Truly, an awe-inspiring display! Truly elegant and stylish! Filled with Panache!" Aoyama cheered.
Highly detailed models of the aliens then appeared: Grey Matter, Ripjaws, Diamondhead, Heatblast, Stinkfly, Upgrade, Wildmutt, Ghostfreak, before the images of Ghostfreak, Stinkfly and Grey Matter slowly flew right at the screen."So if you see him, you might be in for a big surprise! He'll turn into an alien before your very eyes! He's slimy, freaky, fast and strong, he's every shape and size! He's Ben 10!" The singer chanted as the transformation into Wildmutt was shown, the models of Ripjaws, Diamondhead, XLR8, Four Arms, Heatblast and Wildmutt flying at the screen again, followed once again by "Ben 10!" as the backup singers repeated it.
"Whoa! Those modeled of the aliens are amazing! So detailed! They're almost life-like!" Midoriya exclaimed in awe, taking pictures of each one on his phone in order to trace and draw them into his notebook later.
"Truer words were never spoken, Young Midoriya! You can almost imagine as if they were standing right in front of you! It's as if I can sense the power and otherworldly nature RADIATING from them!" All Might said dramatically.
"Yeah, Four Arms looks like EVEN MORE of a unit with those details!" Sato cheered.
"I agree, it's pretty cool. You can even kinda see the fur texture on Wildmutt or the scales on Ripjaws." Asui agreed.
"Uh, I don't think it was the SCALES on Ripjaws we were looking at." Kaminari said fearfully at the sight of Ripjaws' open maw full of razor-sharp teeth.
"Y-yeah. It's almost scary how real they look." Koda admitted, shivering a little at the close-ups on Stinkfly, Ghostfreak and Ripjaws.
"That just shows that these aliens have a solid intimidation factor. Sometimes you don't need to jump straight into violence to stop villains. Sometimes the threat of being on the wrong side of a powerful Quirk is enough to end a situation before it starts." Aizawa informed his students.
"And it can work just as well for civilians, too. Seeing a big, scary alien fighting against the the thing threatening them makes them feel safe. Like how before Quirks, people used to feel safer with big, huge, tough-looking dogs beside them. It might be big and scary, but it's on your side, so you're not the one who has to worry." Midnight added.
"And it's still a little unsettling seeing the transformations and how they're actually changing Ben. So glad he doesn't actually feel that." Ojiro said.
"I'm a fan of the lines in this part, too. It really is a surprise whenever you see Ben, because you never know what he's gonna turn into. Especially now that we know he doesn't always get to choose what he turns into, it's like the ULTIMATE wild card. And I like the 'every shape and size' part." Shoji threw in as well.
"Indeed. Now, if only he'd put in the time and work to study the abilities of his aliens and better understand how they work, he could easily be unstoppable." Iida said in awe. "And hopefully, it'd help him learn to be a bit more responsible with his powers." He grumbled.
A flash animation of Ben was seen running at the screen and performing a backflip. "Armed with powers, he's on the case! Fighting off evil from Earth or space! He'll never stop 'till he makes them pay! 'Cause he's the baddest kid to ever save the day! Ben 10!" The vocalist sang as Ben transformed through the entire list of aliens: 1- Wildmutt slashing through the screen with his claws, 2- Four arms flexing mightily, 3- Grey Matter leaping forward in a zig-zag until he comically splatting on the screen, 4- XLR8 sliding to a stop, 5- Upgrade flailing like a ghost, 6- Diamondhead blocking a laser, 7- Ripjaws roaring, 8- Stinkfly looking up as he flew in place, 9- Ghostfreak spookily flying in place and finally 10- Heatblast shooting a fireball, coming to an end as Ben landed in a superhero pose with his fist slamming into the ground and cracking it.
"Aww, that animation is so cute!" Uraraka cooed.
"Flash animation! Most of my favorite shows as a kid were in that style!" Hagakure said.
"But it still feels so cool! Look at how Ben was running in like that! You KNOW he meant business!" Kirishima cried out.
"Do you think Ben could actually do a backflip like that?" Ojiro wondered.
"Maybe with a bit of agility training. He hasn't shown much acrobatics when not using the watch. Or, actually, he really only shows much agileness when he's Wildmutt." Midnight said.
"That was a cool transition, though, Wildmutt tearing apart the screen with his claws." Koda admitted.
"Four Arms even looks epic as a silly cartoon like this!" Sato exclaimed.
"I might have to do that pose next time we run into villains, or for some reporters." Shoji considered.
Then, a few got some laughs as Grey Matter crashed into the screen. "Ooh, bet he felt that one!" Sero chuckled.
"For an alien with two brains, you'd think Grey Matter would learn to watch where he's going." Asui said with a small giggle.
"I wonder if XLR8 has any difficulty coming to an immediate stop in such a manner?" Midoriya pondered, writing down the question in his notebook while, unbeknownst to him, Iida also wanted an answer to that, as this was one of his shortcomings.
"Who cares? He looks cool!" Kaminari exclaimed.
A few of them were confused at Upgrade's animation. "I thought Ghostfreak was the ghost, why is Upgrade flailing around like that?" Mineta asked.
"To be fair, in this animation style, I'm not sure how you'd portray the ability to take over machines. But, it's not exactly wrong, considering he can shapeshift into whatever he wants." Aizawa explained.
"Ah and even in this animation style, Monsieur Diamondhead looks incredible blocking that laser beam! Such refinement! Such Panache!" Aoyama declared.
"I personally would've had Ripjaws coming up from the water like JAWS in his animation." Present Mic said.
"That was probably too difficult to animate." Midnight told him.
"Kinda boring for Stinkfly to just be sitting around there like that, though. He could've shot out some goo or something!" Ashido complained.
"Eh. They gotta let him keep some secrets. They can't just show everything he can do. Like my boy Ghostfreak! He can go invisible and stuff, but they're not showing it, because being a ghost is enough!" Dark Shadow explained.
"Indeed. Often times, something's true power comes from it's mystery." Tokoyami agreed.
Then finally, Heatblast was shown. "Isn't it a little reckless shooting a fireball at the screen like that? He could damage it. And the cameraman." Todoroki said.
"It's an animation, frostbite brain! Just enjoy how awesome that fireball is!" Bakugo snapped.
An instrumental break then happened as a few more scenes were show: Wildmutt pouncing, a spinning view of Diamondhead when Ben first became him, Heatblast's first fireball, Ben slamming down the Omnitrix, Gwen fighting off the Mutant Parrot, Four Arms transformation sequence and XLR8 running on water. Finally, all the detailed models and flash animated aliens were sucked into the center of the screen, before a flash went off, revealing Ben posed to show off the Omnitrix with the logo "Ben 10" beside him.
"Aww, yeah! One more instrumental break! Gotta love it when they give you time to appreciate all the different instruments. Especially when the beat is absolutely ROCKIN'!" Jiro cheered.
"It's still kinda scary seeing Wildmutt pounce right at the screen like that. It's like he's actually trying to pounce on US." Kaminari said.
"That's how you know whatever he's pouncing on is dead! When that monster comes at you to tear you apart, your time's up!" Bakugo declared.
"That Diamondhead transformation is still so manly!" Kirishima cried out in excitement.
"And Heatblast's first fireball was quite memorable." Yaoyorozu said, still impressed by the ball of plasma. "For both good reasons and bad..." She added awkwardly, remembering the fireball the resulted from it.
"Yeah! They're giving Gwen a chance to shine! Girl power!" Hagakure cheered.
"What about Grandpa Max, though?" Ojiro asked.
"To be fair, he hasn't really HAD many moments to shine yet. But I'm sure he will." Midoriya said.
"Yeah! I love that shot of Four Arms every time we see it, flash animation or the real deal!" Sato cried out.
Iida looked on intently at XLR8 running on the water in such a manner. "I may never reach your levels, Kineceleran, but I vow to close the gap between us and accomplish the feats you have!" The class rep declared.
Then, all of the students couldn't help but cheer at the last guitar riff as the models were pulled to the watch with Ben posing at the end. "Heck yeah! Ben 10!" They all cheered.
The teachers couldn't help but chuckle at this. "So much excitement and wonder. All from a ten-year-old boy with a watch." Midnight said.
"Indeed. But that watch allows him to do more than we could ever hope to. It truly is awe-inspiring and should make each and every one of us want to push ourselves further!" All Might declared.
"PLUS ULTRA!" The entire audience, even the hosts, cheered.
"So, what did you think?" Maverick asked.
"I loved the alien noise in the beginning! So cool! I was hooked at the first second!" Ashido cheered, bouncing in her seat excitedly.
"That beat was TOTALLY rockin'! I loved the beat drop and all the chords worked SO well! And the bass in the background hit harder than All Might! Not to mention the lyrics were PERFECT and matched up with the footage BEAUTIFULLY! And the background singers repeating 'Ben 10' in the background kept you hooked in between the breaks in the lyrics!" Jiro cried out ecstatically.
"It was super manly! It was like reliving the experience all over again with an awesome song to keep things intense! And we were seeing Ben coming into his own as a real hero! That might be the manliest thing I've ever seen!" Kirishima exclaimed in amazement.
"All the detailed models of the aliens were amazing and, even if it was a little too quick to soak in all the features and characteristics, you still got a sense of just how amazing, strange and powerful they all could be." Midoriya said, still in awe of what he just witnessed.
"I liked that we got to see all of the super cool stuff the aliens could do! I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw Wildmutt pouncing like that." Kaminari said with a huge smile.
"Agreed. I may have seen it before, but it was still shocking and awe-inspiring to see XLR8 running on water. I may never reach his levels of speed, but I DO aspire to catch up as much as I can. And maybe one day, my speed will be great enough to traverse the water's surface!" Iida declared. [2]
"Excellent determination, young Iida! Strive not for perfection, but the best version of yourself you can be! Plus Ultra!" All Might cheered for his student.
"And even in the flash animations, we saw how cool the aliens are, like Diamondhead blocking that laser!" Hagakure cried out in joy, seeing an ability she could also use. [3]
"I thought the flash animations were really cute! Even Stinkfly and Ghostfreak!" Uraraka cooed.
"Grey Matter's moment in the flash animation was pretty cute and funny, too." Asui added in agreement.
"I liked how they saved Heatblast for last, so he gets the last big moment that will stick in your head." Todoroki said.
"Hell yeah, that fireball was awesome! Even in a dorky flash animation!" Bakugo exclaimed.
"It truly does show off just how much power Ben has at his fingertips. Plus, that little punch that cracked the ground was pretty exciting." Midnight added.
"I also appreciate how they gave Gwen a moment to shine. Shame they didn't have one for Max, as well." Yaoyorozu said.
"Patience, young listener! I'm sure the big guy will have his chance to shine soon enough!" Present Mic said.
"Did you forget he was one-arm carrying people in those pods out of the Limax's ship already?" Aizawa reminded him.
"Well... yeah, but that wasn't in the intro." Hizashi quickly defended.
"Everything about it was awesome!" Dark Shadow declared.
"Indeed. It showed off everything it needed to and in an exciting manner that shows off everything that makes Ben, his aliens and his family incredible heroes we should all admire." Tokoyami agreed.
"Alright. Glad you all can appreciate an epic opening when you see it." Maverick said in a pleased tone.
"But now, you all better brace yourselves. Because this one will be Ben's greatest challenge so far." Anemone warned them, starting the next adventure.
A/N: Well, there you have it guys! That's the theme song! I hope you all enjoyed it! Now back to the main story next time with "Hunted", probably one of the best episodes of season 1.
Oh, but before I end things, there was ONE more popular question I forgot to answer:
5: Are there any other reaction stories you'd like to see?
Yes, I have a few ideas. Sadly, I'm already busy with THIS story and Class 1-A's secret Family, so I can't do them myself, but if you are interested in these ideas, perhaps you could try them yourself. Or maybe these ideas might inspire you to come up with your own ideas. Either way, I'd love to see what anyone can come up with!
1 - MHA watches Teen Titans - Pretty simple, the class sees more teenage heroes that go out and fight evil regardless of laws or regulations because it's the right thing to do, without asking for fame and fortune in return. Plus, they teach a lot of life lessons the class AS A WHOLE could benefit from, but they'd really hit home for SPECIFIC members of the class. (There is a wiki to find the transcripts on to make things easier)
2 - RWBY watches Ben 10 - I'm also a huge fan of RWBY and while they don't NEED the lessons Ben 10 teaches like MHA does, I just think it'd be a fun experience. (There is a wiki to find the transcripts on to make things easier)
3 - MHA watches Akame Ga Kill - This one would be quite a shock for the class, but I think it also has important lessons for them. Like sometimes you have to defy the rules, or even those in power, to do what is right. And while they'd have issues with the killing, they would have to realize their methods wouldn't work in this world, since the criminals are the people in power and anyone they'd arrest would just be immediately released and sometimes you have to do wrong to do what's right. Also, minus Esdeath and arguably Tatsumi and Wave, the characters are effectively Quirkless, all their powers coming from their Imperial Arms, which can be seen as Support Items and they have to be smart with how they use it, so it will make them respect the Quirkless a bit more. (There isn't a wiki to find the transcripts on, but there is a Tumblr post with a link to a Google Drive with the transcripts)
4 - MHA Watches Hazbin Hotel - Another idea that seems VERY FOREIGN to the world of heroes and Quirks is the idea that villains can ever be anything more than villains. So, the idea of redemption probably never crossed their minds. So, hopefully this series would change that. (There is a wiki to find the transcripts on to make things easier)
5 - The Teen Titans Watch MHA - Pretty much the opposite of why I want the first story, I'd like to see how the titans (or Ben and his family, if you would prefer, either works) would react to the fact you need a LICENSE in order to fight villains and save lives and that these "heroes" expect fame and fortune for their work. I'm sure they'd initially take issue with it, but I think they'd see a lot of potential for good in Class 1-A. (There isn't a wiki for transcripts, but a few different sites such as Tumblr or sublikescripts apparently have them)
6 - MHA Watches Soul Eater - Similar reasons for watching Akame Ga Kill: the weapons can transform, but cannot fight on their own, so they need Meisters, who- minus Black Star and Stein, who can attack with their Soul Wavelengths- are effectively Quirkless (I guess there IS Soul Perception, but that doesn't help with combat), so it will give them more respect for the Quirkless and, while they have effectively become demons, the Kishin Eggs Maka and the others defeat were once human, so they'll see the "heroes" of this world slaying en masse, so they'll have to see that sometimes extremes must be taken. (No transcripts, but anime characters database has the dialogue for the episode, just not the actions to go with the dialogue.)
[1] Yes, I searched each of them individually and they all had raps/songs except for the ones mentioned their. Even Shoji, Sero and Mineta. Nothing wrong with those first two, just surprising people could come up with a rap for multiple arms and TAPE. And Mineta... I'm surprised anyone took the time out of their day to do that for him.
[2] It's actually possible Iida MIGHT be able to run across water. From what I've been able to find, it requires 60 mph for a human-sized animal to run on water. Apparently, he clocked in around 36 mph during the 50 meter dash. BUT! This was in season 1, so it's more than likely through training that his speed in increased. And, while the group I'm using for the current viewing hasn't reached this point, Iida pulling out his new mufflers and growing more powerful ones might have further increased his speed. Current speeds can only be guessed at, but then we have Recipro Burst which, as I explained in the second part of episode 1, allows him to briefly reach 144 mph, so even if it's only for a short time, he should be capable of running on water. And, although I can't confirm the math on this one, a few claims state that Iida's current Recipro Burst puts him at Mach 3.
[3] I forget if they showed she can do that at this point, so just go with it.
