I followed Shane like and idiot when I knew the entire time that my head was screaming at me. "Relax Max, I am not going to kill you" he said. "What?" I said, "you are tense I can feel it and I am not going to hurt you" he said. "What is this about?" I said, "I am not sure" he said, and this confused me. I thought of texting Klea but I realized I didn't have my phone. Wait why didn't I have it, then I remembered leaving it on the bathroom counter. Clearly Aria would come looking for me right, ugh why was I being so stupid. "Where are we going?" I asked. "My place" he said, "wait back in Adventure Bay?" I asked, "no here it's a long story" he said. I nodded I mean I never got much out of him and he was hard to read, what was Shane doing in Toronto and with his own place. "Hey babe" a girl said giving Shane a kiss, and that explained a lot actually. "This is Max" Shane said, "oh good the detectives son" she said, "yes" Shane replied. I didn't know what that meant and I as nervous as hell, I could feel myself sweating. "Awe he looks scared" the girl said, "why did you need him?" Shane asked, "I need him for an experiment" she said. "Hell no I am out" I said as I tried to leave but 2 other guys walked in and they were bigger than me and Shane put together.
"Going somewhere?" one of them said, "I thought you said you wouldn't hurt me?" I said to Shane. "I did say that" he replied, "no one is going to hurt you Max" the girl said, I didn't exactly feel confident in that answer. I had no idea what was going to happen but I tried to think of what my chances would be if I ran, I mean would they be faster than me? "Okay its ready" the girl said, I looked at what she had it was some sort of drink, I mean were they going to drug me? "Alright" Shane said as he handed the drinks to everyone except for me, I still had no idea what I was even doing. "Max this is an experiment we need to see if it works. You will be our proxy" the girl said, I didn't know what that meant but they all downed the drink. I watched them not sure what to expect, what was it that they drank? I mean fuck was I going to be blamed for murder or something? I saw a phone and I grabbed it and called Klea. "MAX where the fuck did you go?" Klea said, "I um am not sure, just come to 4532 Greenwood Rd" I said. "We are coming" Klea said and I hung up, before I knew it all 4 of them were standing before me. "Did it work?" the girl asked, "I am not sure what were you expecting?" I asked. "Tell me what happened to us?" she said, "you all just fell to the ground and lay there" I said. "Shit" she said, going back to her mixture, I mean what the fuck was even happening. "Maybe we should try it on him next" one guy said, "no way in hell" I said. "Relax it won't kill you" Shane said, "what is the point to all of this?" I asked, "you will see" the girl said.
I had no idea but thankfully my friends arrived and I could finally figure this out, "let him go" Klea said. "We are not holding him here against his will, we just need his help" Shane said, "with what?" Klea asked looking at the girl. "Oh my god, what is that?" Klea asked, "its just a drink girl relax, your friend is fine" she said, "who the hell are you?" Klea said, she was trying to defend me. "My name is not your concern, what is your concern is leaving and letting us finish this" she said. "No we are not leaving without Max" Aria said this time I smiled at her. "Well then you can all stay but sit the hell down and shut up, Max are you ready?" the girl asked. "I am not sure what you want me to be ready for?" I said, "you will know" the girl said as all her friends took the drink again and once again they were all on the floor. "What the fuck?" Klea said, "I am not sure?" I said watching them all, then Shane stood up. "The world will end" he said, "excuse me?" Klea said, "Max Chapman you will be the hero" he said and he fell back down. If I wasn't so damn terrified I might have burst into laughter. All of a sudden they all started to shake what the hell was in that drink? I noticed Klea was taking a sample most likely to get Adam to test it. I was debating on calling my dad, is that what he meant? This all literally made zero sense, like what the hell was going on? "Should we call 911?" Aria said, but before any of us could do that they all stood up again as if nothing happened. "Anything?" the girl asked, "well um Shane stood up and told us the world would end and that I would be some sort of hero. Then you all sort of started shaking" I said. "Interesting so it does work" the girl said, "what works?" I asked still confused as hell.
"This little drink here Max it is mean to kill us for a short period of time, it allows us to see the future. I mean it didn't work on all of us but Shane tell us what did you see?" the girl asked. "This is a bunch of crap, you expect us to believe that?" Klea said, "believe what you want girl, I have been working on this for a long time" she said, "why what is the point?" I asked. "So we can see what is in store for us" she said, this all still made zero sense and why was I now involved? It all felt like a dream, like what was even going on? "Shane?" the girl said, "I saw the world ending, and Max standing there helping everyone, there was like a giant war or something" he said. "A war, oh come on" Klea said, "Klea shut up" I said I was so worried and I had no clue what this meant. "Were we older?" the girl asked. "Yes Max was older, I would say in his 50's?" Shaen said, "Interesting, do you want to try it Max?" the girl said, "No he doesn't" Klea said, I kind of did I mean if this drink was going to tell me my future I sort of wanted to know. She did say it would kill me but they all came back to life, so maybe I would too.
