This is the last book in the series as it Follows Chase and Skye's oldest child Max as he navigates his way through University. There will be ups and downs and some chaos. 41. Fifty two

JAX

Alright, this little pup has a lot to learn, like why is he growling at everything he sees, I honestly want to just whack him on the head. I needed to correct this. I mean Lynne and Leila I could tell wanted to touch him so badly, "they are good" I said and he looked at me, but it was like he knew I was keeping him safe. He sniffed them and then licked their hands, I mean alright that was easier than I thought, he was getting there. I even had to tell him not to beg for food. We were not allowed to do that, unless it was dog treats, but I knew Max did the same thing with Rex and he was not doing good these days. I could smell that he was sick. It made me feel bad for him, I knew it was going to hurt Max in the end. I also knew it would affect Titan he seemed super attached to Max. I was going to teach this pup that he needed to learn to trust and good smells vs bad, I could see he had potential and what he did in that warehouse showed guts.

Max wanted me to teach him how to find drugs, that was easier said than down, the smells were hard, I was going to need to tell him. I taught him the different scents, and then we had a course set up. Chase hid the stuff and I ran it finding it within 30 seconds, then it was Titan's turn he took a little longer but he did find it in the end. We did this a few more times, and he did better each time, he was even getting better with the whole trust thing. I noticed he didn't growl at everything he saw or everyone that tried to touch him. He watched me a lot and I was trying to show him to just relax, if someone was going to hurt him or the family he would know. Chase's phone rang and I reacted I knew something was coming, "Detective Chapman" he said and he listened, "Jax let' go" he said, I looked over to the little pup, "DAD can we come?" Max asked, "oh man fine, but you do not touch or do anything" Chase said. Max nodded but the little pup was coming too, I felt like this was a murder of some sort if Chase was bringing them along, it was as good a place for him to learn as any. We all made it to the house, and I went to work sniffing around me, I noticed that Titan was doing the same thing, Max was with his dad asking questions.

I wanted, to let him figure it out, but I knew this case was something that needed to be solved. I found something and Titan was right there with me I at down and barked, Chase came over, "good find Jax" he said and we were able to get some info and all we needed to do now wad find the killer, "That was interesting" Titan said, "this is what is it like all the time" I said, "all the scents" he said, "you get used to it, and will figure out what is important and what isn't" I said, We followed Chase and Max to this abandoned house, I immediately felt off, and I knew Titan felt it too, he had the same instincts that I did. "Jax" Chase said and I went to check the place, out Titan right on my tail, I mean I knew he wanted to learn and as long as he listened I had no issue with it. There was a man in the house he was pacing, and I felt off about him, Chase was right there with me, "he is our guy Jax" he said, and I indicated to Titan. I wanted him to do this, "are you sure?" Chase asked, I licked him, "okay Titan go get him" Chase said and the little pup ran into the house and the guy was caught off guard. Titan growled and bit him hard in the nuts, I mean I guess with his size it was the easiest place for him to grab. Chase went in after and arrested him, he admitted to the murder of the woman as well, I think he was an ex or something.

"I have to give you props little pup you did really good. I am proud and I think you will make a good police dog" I said to him, "thanks I just followed your lead" he said. "That is good, but soon you will be following your own instincts, but I will teach you. Once Max is done school, I think we will all be training together" I said. "Good, and thanks for showing me how to act" he said. He was a good little pup but he did have a rough upbringing I couldn't imagine being neglected by my own mother, I mean sure he was small but he was fierce and with a little more training he would be damn good at his job. This little puppy was going to do good things for Max and Klea I could feel it. He sort of solved his first crime, and it was one of many I knew he would be able to solve. One day at a time, but things were going to get better for him and his instincts would only grow from here. Now that he knew not to growl at every person he was going to be okay, he would know when someone was bad. He would be able to read Max's instincts and that honestly was the first step in being a good police pup. Feeding off your owners and what they feel, helping them and following their lead, otherwise everyone would be bad to us.

Christmas my least favorite time of year, there was just so much smells and stuff and I hated it, crimes over Christmas were hard too, I tried to keep Titan calm the smells of food were hard to resist. Roxy was lying on top of me, I let her she was mine but Rex was not doing good, I wanted to tell the, "Titan maybe get their attention onto Rex" I said. "Is he okay?" Titan asked, "no and they need to know" I said, "he smells different" he said, "he is sick" I said and Titan nodded as he managed to get Max's attention, and he went over to Rex and barked. "Oh man GRANDMA!" Max said, as his grandma came over, "I am sorry Max, he is just not doing good, I feel like he is suffering more. The cancer is not going to get better" she said. "I don't want him to suffer" Max said, I felt for him. I could tell though he was suffering he hardly moved anymore, and he hardly ate. Max hugged him, I could feel Titan was getting jealous but he needed to not be, Rex was his first pup and he needed to grieve this loss. "Okay no more suffering" Max said, and Katie nodded. Tomorrow we would all be saying goodbye to Rex and I knew Max was going to take it the hardest, but I knew Titan would be there for him. Like I said before this pup had good instincts and it was going to be okay. Titan was going to learn from the best and be the second best I mean no one would be better than me but I would give him second best.
