I regretted it the second I went into the water, it was so cold and I wasn't expecting the current. How did this kid get out there is what I want to know. It felt like forever but I made it to the child was and I had to dive under. I mean how was I supposed to do this. I found them and pulled them up, take in a few gulps of water. I was exhausted.
The little girl was not moving and I could exactly do CPR in the water. I tried to swim with her but I was tired and she was dragging me down. The rescues feed was taking its sweet ass time. Finally I heard the ambulance and fire trucks. I didn't know is how much longer I could stay a float. Just as I saw the rescues crew I slid under the water. I just couldn't swim anymore and I was so cold.
I didn't even notice anything after that but I coughed water up and was laying in the beach. "Don't ever fucking die on me!" Aria said, "the little girl?" I said and the paramedic pointed she was also awake and on her way to the hospital. "You saved her life" the paramedic said. I smiled I definitely tried my best, "are you good?" She asked, " I'm okay thanks" I said and I was glad I didn't need to go to the hospital.
"Where were her parents?" I asked, "don't know so sad" Aria said. The detective in me wanted to figure it out but it was late and we had class in the morning. I would stop by after school tomorrow to see if she was alright, I couldn't do anything right now. "Let's go back to campus?" I said, "yes" Aria agreed and we walked, I was still in wet clothes but we weren't far from campus. I kissed her goodnight and headed to my dorm, I decided to take a hot shower before bed.
"damn what happened to you?" Hunter asked, "saved a little girl from drowning" I said, "wow" he says, I grabbed my stuff and left I knew more details were to come though. First I needed to get warm I was still cold from the water. The last thing I needed was to get sick ugh nope I was trying to tell my body not to do it. I did not want to be sick, maybe if I slept good I wouldn't be in the morning.
I did remember the last time I was cold like this and wet I was sick for a week. Not going to happen again, after I showered I went back to my dorm. Hunter was up waiting for me, "so what the hell?" "This girl maybe like 8 was drowning in the ocean I jumped in and saved her" I said. "Your nuts" he says, "maybe but I saved her life, I'm just not sure where her parents are like what the hell wax she doing?" I asked, "who knows but you are a hero!" He said. "Not something new, I mean I have saved a lot of people" I said. "Well pin a rose on your nose" he said and I laughed. We talked a bit longer before going to sleep. The morning came quick and I didn't feel sick yet so k took that as a good sign.
I would be going to class then recruiting my partner to help me figure out this girl. I knew the cops had it handled but I couldn't let it go. I was going to either help or just find out answers for myself I couldn't let it go. There had to be some sort of explanation did she get dumped? Was she on a boat that dunk? Did she run away and fall in? Like there were so many possibilities. I also wanted to make sure she was okay. She was alive but barely when she was taken so I don't know. Who knows how long she was in the water before we found her. I know one thing for sure Aria seeing her was incredible I didn't even notice. I just hoped Klea was on board because I was going to need her help in solving this mystery. Who am I kidding it's Klea of course she will be interested.
I told her everything and she followed me to the hospital. I did have to drive but she was convinced the minute I said I had a mystery to solve. "How do people not notice their kid missing?" She asked, "I don't know" I said as we pulled into the hospital. We walked up to the front desk and I said "hi I'm looking for the little girl brought in last night. She almost drowned" I said. "Who are you?" The nurse asked, "I am the boy that saved her" I said. She smiled at me and said "come with me" and we followed her.
The little girl was alive and happy to see me, I was glad she was okay. "Mommy he saved me" she said, "thank you" she said. "Can I ask what happened?" I asked, "her father is what happened, he took her boating ugh and he didn't even bother to help her!" The women said. I couldn't believe it what kind of father does that. I was pissed for her, "I hope the cops are involved" I said. "Yes they are looking for him now. Thank you for saving her" she says hugging me, "your welcome glad she is okay" I said, "I am Abby" she says, "Max" I told her and she hugged me too.
Klea and I left and she gave me the look of can we help. "Want to find this guy?" She asked, "I am curious let's head to the pier" I said she agreed I guess we were going on a manhunt.
