A/N: In all my Liason stories, Jason has been tough as nails. He fights for what he believes in and fights for others and defends others. I have always wanted to write a story on what would happen if it was Jason who was the 'outcast' in the Quartermaine family or always got talked down to and did not have the courage to defend himself. In this story, that is what happens. Do not worry, Jason does end up defending himself. It will just take time. Elizabeth defends her man and herself and will take no prisoners. So, I guess this story is about both Jason eventually defending himself to others & Elizabeth taking no crap from others. Hope you like it and will let me know what you think. Summary: Jason has always been the outcast, the 'black sheep' of the family. His girlfriend, Elizabeth, is by his side as she makes him see he is perfect just the way he is. Rated T for violence/language. Short story.
Chapter 1
(Jason and Elizabeth have been best friends for years. They are both twenty-five years old. Recently, they started dating. Jason is known as the 'black sheep' of the family and feels he can never do anything right. His brother, AJ, is the CEO of ELQ and is known as the golden boy. AJ, unfortunately, never lets Jason forget that fact)
(While Elizabeth and Jason are going for a walk, they chat)
Jason: "So, you would not change anything about me?"
Liz: (shakes her head) "No, I Iove everything about you."
Jason: (chuckles dryly) "You know damn well my family would love to change me. There is probably only one or two members in the entire family who don't mind me working for Sonny. Everyone else feels I should do what I am told."
Liz: (raises her eyebrows) "You mean like becoming a doctor, even though you would be bored as hell doing that? Fuck them. They can go to hell, Jason. I want to make something clear to you, Jason. You do NOT need to change who you are for anyone. If your family truly loved you, they would accept you just the way you are."
(Jason smiles a little at her encouraging words. He honestly did not know if he would have the courage to stand up to his parents the way Elizabeth is able to stand up to others. Truth be told, Jason has been talked down to his whole life by his parents. He did not do what they wanted him to do…become a doctor like they did or some other important career. Nope, Jason chose to work for Sonny. Jason is tough as nails when it comes to Sonny and his job as a Mob Enforcer. But when it comes to his family, he has never been able to defend himself)
(Jason looks down in sadness because he is not as strong as AJ or Sonny or even his beautiful girl. Elizabeth smiles tenderly as she tilts her head and uses her fingertips to gently raise his chin so they are face to face)
Liz: "I wouldn't change you for anything, Jason Morgan."
(He looks deep in her eyes before glancing at her lips. She does the same. She was not sure if he was brave enough to make the first move. So, she decided to do what they both wanted. She leans forward and opens her mouth slightly as Jason slightly opens his mouth too)
(They both moan a bit as they have never felt this way before for anyone as they feel for each other. Afterwards, they pull back. They are a bit speechless)
Liz: "Wow."
Jason: "I was thinking the same thing."
Liz: "That was my first real kiss and you are definitely a good kisser, Morgan."
Jason: (chuckles softly) "You, too, Webber."
Liz: (smirks) "We will have to do that again…if you're up for it."
Jason: "For you? I am up for anything."
(They embrace before he comes back to reality again)
Jason: (sighs deeply) "Elizabeth, I know that I should be stronger being I work for Sonny. I mean, look at him, he is the freaking kingpin of Port Charles. Let's face it. He deals with illegal stuff besides coffee importing. But I would never fault him for that because I like working for him. Is it wrong of me to almost regret the family I was born into?"
Liz: "Okay, for one thing, Morgan, you ARE strong. You just do not give yourself enough credit for it. It also does not help that your fucking family puts you down all the time. Granted, Lila is the only Quartermaine that I am aware of who loves you unconditionally. Sadly, no one else sees that."
(Jason shakes his head in disappointment. As the couple continue to walk in the park, AJ happens upon them and cannot help the smirk from showing up on his face)
AJ: "Well, if it is not the black sheep of the family. You DO know that mommy and daddy are still saying that you need to grow the hell up and get a real job."
(Jason scoffs as he shakes his head)
Jason: "Yeah, well, at least I am not still living with mommy and daddy. Don't you think it is time to get a place of your own? And you are older than me, too."
AJ: (shrugs) "Only by a few years. I am the CEO of ELQ and at least I am not known as the outcast of the family."
Jason: "At least I'm living life on my own terms."
(AJ continues to smirk as he attempts to twist the knife further)
AJ: "You will never have Monica and Alan's support on your lifestyle. Fuck, Jason, you kill people for a living!"
(Elizabeth has had enough of AJ's holier than thou attitude! She knew that it was time to defend her man as AJ would not shut the fuck up! She points at AJ and snarls at him)
Liz: "You need to get off your fucking high horse! You may be CEO, but you know damn well Ned has always wanted the job. But, nooo, you do not give a shit." (scoffs) "I'll bet Ned could even do the job a hell of a lot better than you!"
AJ: "You should know, Elizabeth, that it is my birthright and I deserve the position. Ned will just have to suck it up."
(Jason cannot help the laugh from escaping his mouth)
Jason: "With all of your mistakes at the job, you're still CEO."
AJ: (angrily) "It is none of your goddamned business. So, stay the hell out of my life."
Jason: (laughs) "I'd love to, but you keep pulling me in, AJ."
(AJ scoffs as he walks away)
Jason: "It feels like I can't win, no matter what I do."
(Jason slides his hands through his spiked hair and walks in a circle while raising his voice)
Jason: "I want my own life, but the Quartermaine's will not let me! It is like I have to do what they want, otherwise they won't accept me!"
(Elizabeth rests her hands on her boyfriend's shoulders and faces him seriously)
Liz: "Jason, you are perfect just the way you are. If they are hounding you that much, we can always leave Port Charles and never look back. It is totally up to you."
(Jason shakes his head in response and speaks in determination)
Jason: "No, I am not going to run from my problems. I am not going to let them run me out of town. We deserve to be here, too."
(Elizabeth crosses her arms over chest as she spoke matter-of-factly)
Liz: "I swear, I do not know what your family's problem is. You are happy with your life and they should be happy for you."
(Jason shakes his head in defeat)
Jason: "Baby, you should not have to defend me. For as long as I can remember, I have always been known or called the 'Black Sheep' of the family."
Liz: (angrily) "I hate your family and how they make your feel that way."
(Elizabeth privately vows to put a stop to it)
