Chapter 12 – An Especially Freedom Day
It was another very hot day in Varykino, but little by little the sky started to filled with some big gray clouds, and the older inhabitants in the Lake Country knew that when that starts to happen during the hot days, it means that storms would be hitting the region soon.
Today it was also a holiday through the whole galaxy, since 8 years ago, it was the day that the Empire fall after the Battle of Endor and with the death of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader.
They were ready to have a big lunch and dinner with friends and family, and at night there would be fireworks, that would also be throw in every system across the galaxy.
Since it was a good day, and hot one, they decided to have lunch outside, under the shadows of the trees, even Amidala parents were there for the next days to celebrate the day with them.
While the two set of twins, Zena and Ben were playing nearby, and the older kids like Iris, Ken and Cindel were sitting on the grass talking, the adults were still sitting by the table having a good time.
"Nap time?" Ines said looking at her toddler, who was on her lap, laughing when Lukey shook his head right away.
"No nap!"
"Today is a special day, right sweetie. You can skip the nap!" Jobal said picking the kid and kissing his cheeks.
"I thought you guys were thinking to go to Endor and celebrate there. After all it was there that this day began!" Reed asked looking at his friends.
"I would love to there and meet the sweet Ewoks!" Luma replied with a smile, making Han grunt and rolled his eyes.
"Sweet Ewoks. Yeah right!" he said.
"They didn't bother me or Leia!" Ines replied looking at her brother in law.
"Very funny," Han said and looked back at Luma, "Let me warn you, don't let their cuteness fool you my friend. They are mean when they want."
"They're mean to enemies." Luke explained to them. "But like Master Yoda told me a year before. Never judge anyone by their size."
"And he was right. Take him as a good example. He was small but he was one the greatest Jedi I ever met." Ahsoka smiled remembering the old Master.
"True!" Amidala said smiling.
"But why didn't you go there?" Reed asked again.
"We were thinking to go, but because Leia is so pregnant, they thought that it was a better idea to stay here, cause travel from Coruscant to Naboo, then to Endor and then back to Naboo, it could be a little tired for her!" Ken Sr started to explain.
"I told them I can handle but noooo!" Leia said with a grunt.
"They were right Leia!" Gracy replied making Leia rolled her eyes.
"We are thinking to go there in the 10th anniversary. It is a better date!" Luke said.
The hours went by, and they continue to talk by the table, watching the small kids playing, when Ines noticed that Leia was silence for a while now.
"Leia what's wrong?" she asked right away making the others stop talking and looked at them.
"Babe are you okay?" Han asked too.
"I don't know. I'm having some pain in my back but now it went to my belly!"
"Oh, you're having contractions?" Amidala said standing up and went right towards her daughter. "Someone call Yolla and you let's go inside right away!"
"I don't know if it is that. My water didn't broke yet like when I was expecting the boys!"
"Every pregnancy is different. When I was expecting Ben and Lukey I started to have contractions hours before my water break. But when it was with the girls by water broke first and then the contractions started."
"Come on Leia!" Han said and with his help they went inside and went to their bedroom in the second floor, while Luma went to call Yolla.
When she arrived in the bedroom, Leia was already without her outfit and with her nightgown.
"So I heard that will have the privilege to finally delivery your baby, since I already did with Ines!" the 50's old woman said with smile.
"Not by choice," Leia said but she realized that sound rude. "I'm sorry, I'm not saying you are bad or I don't trust you, is just I wanted to have some drugs."
"I understood!" Yolla smiled and after cleaning her hands she examed Leia and with a grin she looked at her. "Well your baby will be born today and in here. You are already dilated 5cm, which means this labor will be quicker, which is a good thing for you."
Grunt, Leia lowed her head back in the pillow, while another contraction started and this was stronger.
"Relax. Everything will be okay. I need boiled water, clean towels."
"I will get it. Han you stay here." Ines said to him while she went downstairs where everyone was in the living room.
"So…!" Luke asked his wife.
"Our niece will be born today." she said look to the kids. "Pretty soon you will have a baby sister to protect!"
"I will aunt Ines!" Ani said right away with a big smile.
"I can't wait to hold her!" Iris nod too.
"I will better get everything that Yolla asked!"
"I'll help!" Luma said and they went to the kitchen to boil water and then get some clean towels.
The hours passed and the inside the bedroom, everything was happening very quickly and smoothly, for Ines surprise. Leia wanted her and her mother, alongside with Han to be with her.
"Okay, it is time!" Yolla said looking at her.
"Thank Goodness!" Leia said.
"With the next contraction, push!" Yolla ordered and with that, Leia started to push.
"That's it, you are doing great!" Han said kissing her forehead.
"That's easy for you to say, you are the one that need to push this baby out of YOU!" she yelled when another contraction hit her and she started to push.
"That's it, it almost there. One more push!" Amidala said with a big smile.
With another big push, all of the sudden the room was filled with a cry of a baby.
"There she is, a perfect and healthy little girl!" Yolla said and after a few minutes she handled her to Leia, who hold her baby girl tightly in her arms.
"She is beautiful!" she said kissing the baby's forehead.
"She looks like me!" Han said with a smile but had tears in his eyes.
Yolla smiled at the scene.
"We better get everyone clean!"
"Yeah so later the siblings can see their baby sister!" Amidala said.
And Hour Later:
The kids entered in the room, where Leia was already sitting on her bed, with a back resting on the pillows with a sleeping baby on her arms and Han sitting next to her.
"Come, come see your baby sister!" he said, helping the boys getting in the bed.
The moment Ani saw her, he kissed the baby's head.
"Hi, I'm your older brother Ani and I will take care of you all the time!" he said making Leia smiled.
"I know you will sweetie!"
"She is small!" Bail told.
"But she is beautiful!" Iris said sitting on the bed.
"Your mother did great. I was shocked she didn't scream and curse like the other time!" Han said to his daughter.
"Me too!" Ines laughed.
"I have to say, I don't know how in the world you were able to do this twice," Leia said looking at Ines. "You are crazy. But Yolla was pretty amazing so in a way I can see why!"
Outside the sound of fireworks started to go off.
"Well let's face now we have another good reason to celebrate Freedom Day!" Luke said.
"True kid. Welcome Breha!" he said with a big smile.
