Chapter Twelve

Here We Go

W.O.O.H.P Headquarters- 7:15 AM

Morning. Sean never thought he'd be so happy to see it. Especially now since, if it hadn't been for him and the girls, Beverly Hills wouldn't have seen daylight again.

Now, standing in the cold, blue light of Jerry's office, he could tell he had a bright future as a W.O.O.H.P agent, and so did his new friends.

Jerry stood behind his desk, looking very pleased.

"Despite a few bumps in the road," he said. "Your first mission was a success."

Sean smiled.

"Thanks, Jerry!" Sam said, sincerely.

"It was like, totally our pleasure!" Clover added.

"Even if you did force us into it," Alex bluntly reminded.

She was still holding Oinky after recovering him from the W.O.O.H.P spaceship.

"I admit," Jerry said. "There was a certain amount of coercion on my part."

"That's an understatement, Jer," Sean said.

Jerry ignored him.

"So, if you don't wish to continue spying, I understand."

"Really?" Sean asked, surprised. He certainly didn't give them much of a choice to begin with.

Jerry nodded. "It's your choice."

He looked back at the others.

"Well, girls?" Sean asked, unsure of what their answer would be.

They said nothing for a short while until Sam spoke up.

"Well, it's definitely been difficult."

Sean had to agree with her on that. It had been difficult enough being an instructor, a job he supposed was now vacant.

He could tell where it was going. They would quit, go back to their normal lives, and likely not talk to him again.

But then Sam gasped.

"But it's also been the most exciting thing that's ever happened to us!"

"And," Alex added. "It's like, because of this whole spy thingy that we met each other and became friends!"

"Yeah," Clover agreed. "So, if you're willing to put up with us, I guess we're willing to put up with you!"

Sean looked to Jerry.

"I guess that settles it," he said.

Jerry smiled.

"It's a deal."

Sam placed a finger under her chin.

"So, what should we do about all the Fabulized people?"

"Yeah," Sean concurred. "I mean, Mandy saw us and as much as Clover would like it, we can't let her know our secret."

"It's no longer an issue," Jerry said.

Images of the formerly missing people rolled by on the screen behind him. And they were all back to normal.

"W.O.O.H.P has erased their memories and restored their faces."

"Speaking of faces," Clover spoke up angrily. "Whatever happened to that to that totally cute totally backstabbing Tad?"

Jerry pulled up a live feed showing a prison cell. In it, Tad was in a bunk on one wall with Fabu occupying the other. On the floor, Yuri was doing a Russian step dance.

"Tad," Jerry explained. "Is currently being disciplined for his conduct along with the rest of our two-bit criminals in the W.O.O.H.P containment facility."

In the cell, Fabu threw a pillow at Yuri, who stopped dancing.

"Sorry, boss," he said.

Sean crossed arms, satisfied at his rival's fate.

"Ooh," Clover said, just as content. "That's just what he deserves. I wish all the dudes I'm mad at could get the same treatment."

"Speaking of dudes," Jerry said, opening a trap door behind them. "Allow me to introduce you to Tad's replacement, Vincent."

Clover squealed in excitement. "I hope he's a babe!"

"Clover!" Sam scolded. "Didn't you learn your lesson? No office crushes."

But then the platform came up, revealing a man about the same age as Tad, only with blue eyes and blond hair, albeit lighter than Sean's.

And another thing differentiated him from the other two.

"Bonjour," he said in a French accent.

"Wow," Sam uttered, impressed.

She zipped behind him, similarly to how Clover practically threw herself at Tad.

"Hi there!"

Sean, Alex, and Clover looked at Jerry.

"He's from our Paris office," Jerry explained.

"Looks like Sam's the only one with excitement in her future," Alex said, indicating the redhead.

Sean, however, didn't like the sound of that.

"I wouldn't get too attached, Sam," he told her. "If he has Tad's old job, he probably has mine too. So, we won't be seeing him as much."

Sam lowered her head in defeat and made her way back to the group.

That was when Alex's Compowder began to chime.

She answered it, putting it on audio only, as Sean told her how to do on the way to Mandy's house the night before.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Hello!" A gruff, but jovial voice answered. "This is Peppy Wolfman!"

Alex looked excited. "I hear you have a pig that's been through a traumatic experience. I'd love to discuss it over lunch."

"Awesome!" she exclaimed, hanging up.

Then Clover's Compowder rang.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Clover," a younger male voice replied. "Rob Heartthrob, here."

"No way!" Clover squealed.

"Rumor has it you're a big fan of my lyrical poetry," Rob continued. "How does dinner and a serenade sound?"

Clover gasped.

"Heck, yes!" she screamed, before hanging up.

"Huh," Sean said to himself, surprised. "What next?"

He was answered by his own wallet phone chiming.

Wondering who wanted to speak to him, or whether or not it was a celebrity, he answered.

"Hello?" he asked.

"Sean, hi!" his mother's voice greeted warmly.

"Mom?"

"I hope I didn't call you at a bad time."

"No," he insisted. "You didn't. Is there something wrong?"

"No, the opposite, actually. I just got promoted at work!"

"What?!" he asked, surprised.

"The head nurse just got another job offer in San Diego, so I'm taking her place!"

"Mom, that's amazing!"

"I know! And I was thinking we should move out of that apartment."

Sean felt more excited. He'd hated that apartment from Day One.

"Really?" he asked.

"Uh-huh. I found a place on the Northwest side of Beverly Hills that I think you'll like."

"That's great! When do we move?!"

"As soon as I earn enough money to buy the house. I'll see you tonight!"

"Okay," Sean said, hanging up.

"I guess all's well that ends well," Jerry said.

Sean smiled. "You're not fooling anyone, Jerry. You had something to do with this, didn't you?"

Jerry smiled back. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Sam spoke up next.

"All may not be well at school! I still need to see Miss Scrich!"

Sean's elation, soaring like an eagle earlier, now crashed to the ground like a hailstone. In all the chaos of his mission, he'd forgotten about the fact that his friend, or whatever Sam was to him now, was facing detention or worse.

"In that case," Jerry said. "You'd better take the quick way down. Cheerio!"

He pressed a button, sucking all four teens up a chute that would lead each of them to their own homes.

Sean didn't know how he and the others were able to catch up with Sam. Come to think of it, he didn't even see Sam run that fast on her mission. But fear, especially fear of punishment, could motivate people to do things they normally couldn't.

And he didn't mind. She actually looked kind of cute when she ran.

What is wrong with me? he asked himself. I can't think like that right now! She's in trouble!

But maybe she didn't have to be the only one.

"Hurry up, you guys!" she called behind her to the other three. "I'm gonna be late for my punishment!"

"You know, Sam," he said, now running at an even pace beside her. "I could share the blame for what happened to the wall, if you want me to."

She smiled. "That's sweet, but I can't let you do that. I'm the one who used that laser on the wall. It should be me. Besides, you tried to stop Clover from using it if remember right."

Sean sighed. He had to give it a try anyway.

"Excuse me," an older voice said.

They looked up to see a man with purple glasses, with a matching necktie, an orange shirt under his dark suit, and a short beard under his chin.

"Are you Samantha?" he asked.

"Yes!" Sam replied urgently. "But I'm in a bit of a rush! I've got a date with detention!"

"That doesn't sound like the Sam I know," the man countered.

He looked at clipboard he was holding.

"In fact, I've just reviewed your academic records and was quite impressed! And as your new principal, I look forward to having you as one of my students."

"New principal?" Sean asked as the man walked off.

"Wow!" Alex said. "Lucky break, Sammy!"

"Yeah," Clover added. "What are the odds?"

"About a zillion to one," Sam answered. "A coincidence like this just screams W.O.O.H.P."

"Good point!" Alex agreed. "Which makes me wonder, what do you think happened to Miss Scrich?"

"Hmm," Sean hummed in deep thought.

Elsewhere

In an igloo, far away from California and the U.S in general, for that matter, a stern looking woman stood before a group of Inuit children shivering despite the layers she was now dressed in.

"H-hello s-students," she said, trying her best to tolerate the cold.

"M-my name is- achoo! - M-miss S-scrich."

Still shivering, she wondered exactly how she wound up teaching here of all places.

"Guess we'll never know," Sean said. "Not that I'm complaining. I mean, she was the worst principal I've ever had."

As they walked by the school parking lot, a familiar voice assaulted their eardrums.

"EW!" Mandy screeched. "Oh, crud! I hate when there's a squashed bug on my windshield!"

Then she noticed the three girls and one boy.

"Hey, losers!" she cried. "Wash and wax my whip, like pronto!"

Sean clenched his fist. They'd just saved the world from destruction and yet Mandy was still allowed to torment them?

"No probs!" Clover reassured. "I hope you like extra foam!"

"Whatevs!" Mandy said, angrily. "Just get it clean!"

Sean was confused as to why Clover just caved into Mandy like that, until he saw her pull out the one gadget they didn't use on their mission.

"Clover!" he scolded. "What are you doing?!"

"Getting Mandy back when she least expects it!" she answered.

She shook the gadget in her hands.

"With a little help from the Pomade Grenade!"

Taking the pin off the grenade, Sean, Sam and Alex ducked as Clover threw it like a baseball.

To his surprise, Mandy caught it.

"Huh?" she mumbled in confusion.

Then she began to scream as a white steam came out of the top.

In seconds, the grenade exploded, leaving behind an endless sea of foam that covered Mandy, her friends, and her car, making even filthier than it had been.

"NO!" she cried, slamming her fists into the pomade that now coated her vehicle.

And for once, Mandy was on the receiving end of a laughing crowd.

Sean smiled, glad to see the girl who had gotten him in trouble getting her comeuppance for possibly the first time ever.

"Now that's what I call a happy ending!" Sam said.

"You said it!" Sean agreed with her.

But Sam's Compowder going off stopped them from celebrating any further.

All four teens ducked behind a bush as Sam answered it.

Jerry popped up on the screen.

"Girls, Sean," he said. "I have an urgent mission for you. A giant lobster is attacking the eastern coastline of Japan."

"Uh," Clover chimed in. "Sounds really scary, Jer. Unfortunately, I have an urgent mani-pedi mission this afternoon!"

"And I have a ton of schoolwork to do!" Sam added.

"And I have to give Oinky a bath!" Alex insisted.

"And I'm going with my mom this afternoon to meet our real estate agent!" Sean said.

"I'm afraid you leave me no choice," Jerry said.

Then he hung up.

"What do you think he meant by that?" Alex asked Sean.

He just shrugged.

But the noise of helicopter above him answered her question.

"Uh, girls?" Sean said. "I think we should run."

They did so, but did not get very far as the helicopter began to lower a chute onto the street, sucking in the air around it.

"Annoying much?!" Clover complained.

"Look on the bright side, Clover!" Sam reminded her. "At least we're..."

All four teens jumped up.

"Best friends forever!" They all shouted in unison.
