Hi. Sorry if I took so long. I was on vacation for a few days. But now I'm back and ready to continue.
Read and review!
Chapter Fourteen
The New Jerry
The Alps, France-10:00 AM
A herd of goats grazed by a lake in the shadow of the mountains. All at once, the silence and tranquility were broken by a low rumble.
The goats looked up to see an apparently infinite wall of snow cascading down the slopes... right toward them.
Frightened, they ran, but the avalanche was too fast for them. However, just as it was about to hit them...
An intense, focuses beam of orange light collided with the snow and when the smoke, or steam, cleared, the only reminders of the avalanche were the goats still panicked expressions and their damp fur.
The goats looked back to see a puddle where the advancing wall of snow had been.
On a ledge above the goats, four certain teenagers sat in snowmobiles.
Sam, with Sean's help, put away the large purple cannon she used to evaporate the avalanche that a W.O.O.H.P agent had triggered as part of their field test. Even though he knew it was only a test, Sean had no idea just what the Evapo-Blaster would be used for.
"New W.O.O.H.P state of the art technology?!" Alex complained. "Please! The Evapo-Blaster's nothing but a glorified hair dryer!"
"I agree!" Clover said, just as ticked. "That mission was totally lame! I mean, avalanche patrol? What are we, spies or forest rangers?"
"Neither," Sam replied. "Apparently, we're goat babysitters."
"I know this isn't the most exciting mission we've been on," Sean said. "But testing this thing wasn't too bad was it?"
The girls just glared at him.
Sean felt his smile wane.
"Right. Let's just go home."
And the four drove their snowmobiles down the mountain, unaware of the figure above them, watching their every move.
Sam's House, Beverly Hills-8:00 PM
Sean sat down on Sam's couch between Clover and Alex, the latter eating out of a tub of strawberry ice cream.
"I though this whole spy gig was supposed to be fun," Alex complained. "So much for the days of exciting missions and exotic places."
"Yeah," Sean concurred. "I swear, we haven't been on a real mission in weeks!"
Clover, on the other hand, was more optimistic.
"At least we can be psyched about our big snowboarding trip this weekend!" she said excitedly.
"Yeah!" Sam said, putting down a magazine. "What do you say we forget about Jerry and his boring missions and focus on what is really important?"
"Wow!" Alex and Clover said, looking ecstatic. But Sean was more confused.
"And what would that be?" he asked.
Sam just smiled.
Beverly Hills Mall-9:00 PM
"The mall, of course," Sean said to himself as he and the girls walked through the entrance.
The girls just looked around in awe, like they'd never been in the mall before.
As they each wanted to do something different, the teens split up, Sean heading toward an electronics store.
I was thinking about getting a new CD player anyway, he thought.
In a sporting goods store, Sam was in a changing room, trying on a purple coat. She struck a pose, admiring her reflection.
"Oh, it's fabulous!" she said to herself with glee.
However, it was short lived as Jerry's face superimposed hers in the mirror.
"Don't you think it's a bit tight for snowboarding?" he asked.
Sam let out a startled yell and bolted out of the booth, taking the curtain with her, attracting the attention of confused shoppers.
"It's hardly any of your business!" she complained. "Now bug off!"
In an arcade, Clover was practicing her snowboarding on a game that simulated that very sport. Behind her was a boy who seemed very interested in the game when he pointed it out to her.
Mostly just hoping to get his phone number, Clover agreed to try it out with him.
Though doing well at first, Clover did lose her balance after a short while. Fortunately for her, the boy behind her caught her in his arms.
Clover blushed, very satisfied.
Unfortunately, it was all over too soon for her as a familiar voice cleared his throat from the screen.
Soon enough, Jerry was in the middle of the video game screen, waving a finger in disapproval.
In response, Clover just blew a raspberry.
In a nail and hair salon, Alex was getting a manicure and reading a magazine when her Compowder went off.
Having a feeling she would immediately regret it, she answered.
"Alex here."
Jerry was on the screen, looking over some papers.
"Alex," he said. "I've noticed your grades have slipped, so I've for you to be tutored by our top W.O.O.H.P scholar everyday after school."
He indicated an older man in a lab coat standing right next to him.
Alex was speechless.
"No need to thank me, I'm just happy to help where I can."
The screen went dark, and Alex seethed.
Sean looked around the store, specifically the CD section. It took a while to find one he liked, but he eventually picked out a navy blue one.
"This looks good," he said to himself.
It was at that point that his wallet phone chimed in.
"Ugh!" he groaned. "Always when I don't want him to!"
He answered it, an angry look on his face.
"What is it, Jerry?!" he demanded.
"Sean," Jerry said. "I've noticed you're doing a little shopping and I thought I might be of assistance."
"Forget it! I'm 15, I don't need you to pick out what I'm looking for!"
He snapped the wallet shut, picked up the CD player and made his way to the register.
As he pulled out his purchase, the woman behind the counter cleared her throat.
"Are you Sean Warren?" she asked.
"Uh," he said. surprised a total stranger knew who he was. "Yeah, why?"
"Your order is ready," she replied. "Portable DVD player, right?"
"But there has to be a mistake, I didn't order anything."
"Well according to this," she indicated her computer screen. "You did. A portable DVD player billed to a Sean Warren. Payment up front."
Sean sighed in resignation. "How much?"
After looking at the screen further, the woman answered.
"$99.99."
"What?!" he turned the screen around to confirm that was indeed the case.
He narrowed his eyes in anger, knowing instantly who was to blame for this.
"Jerry!" he said, disdainfully.
Returning to Sam's house later that night, Sean took a seat between her and Alex, who was now devouring the strawberry ice cream ravenously.
"Okay," Sam said, when each learned what had happened to the other.
"Being a spy has just gone from mundane to ridiculous! We can't even get ready for our trip without Jerry bugging us!"
"Tell me about it!" Clover agreed. "That man is the absolute worst!"
"I know what you mean!" Sean concurred. "I can only imagine what my mom's gonna say when she gets a $100 bill for a DVD player I didn't even buy!"
Thankfully, he billed it to his mother's credit card, but it still ticked him off.
"We should definitely give him a piece of our minds!" Clover added.
"I totally agree!" Alex said, giving the ice cream a break. "It's high time we put our feet down!"
No sooner than those words were said, Sam's TV began to glow, emitting several pink energy waves.
All four were lifted up as soon as the waves hit them.
Then, though Sean couldn't explain it, he and the girls were sucked into the TV and into the metallic chute that led to W.O.O.H.P headquarters.
"Well," he said, over the girls' screams. "You know what they say, no time like the present!"
W.O.O.H.P Headquarters-10:32 PM
The spies landed on the same cushion in front of Jerry's desk.
Clover looked up at her hair, which suffered from severe split ends thanks to the static cling of coming out of the screen.
Her face went from horrified to outraged.
"Okay, Jerry!" she said angrily to Jerry's chair, which was turned away from them.
"Enough is enough!" Sean added.
"That's right!" Sam said. "We're sick of you butting into our personal lives!"
"Yeah," Alex agreed. "And no more treating us like little kids! Do I make myself..."
But she trailed off as the chair turned around, revealing that its occupant was not Jerry, but a younger man with slightly tanned skin, blueish green eyes, brown hair and a very charming smile.
"...clear?" Alex finished, bewildered.
"Crystal clear," the man answered in a smooth, soft voice.
Sean, Sam and Clover joined Alex in her confusion.
"Hello, spies," he continued, after a short silence. "I'm Mac Smit, your new W.O.O.H.P guardian."
Sam swallowed.
"You're our new guardian?" she asked.
"What happened to Jerry?" Sean added.
"Jerry decided," Mac answered. "That after 35 wonderful years with W.O.O.H.P that it was time he worked on his golf game."
He pulled out a remote.
"He's retired," he continued, pressing a button on the remote.
On the screen behind the desk, an image of Jerry appeared. He was wearing a typical golfing outfit and standing in the middle of a green field, presumably a golf course.
"It's true ladies, Sean," he said calmly. "I have indeed retired. I am, however, confident that I've left you in very capable hands. Mac should prove to be a fine replacement."
Sean and the girls looked shocked.
"So does this mean we're never gonna see you again, Jer?" Sam asked.
"Sorry, I can't help you," Jerry said bluntly. "I'm retired."
He hit the ball with the club and the screen turned off, leaving all four spies stunned.
"I can't believe Jerry retired," Alex said. "It seems like just yesterday he was invading our privacy and majorly getting on our nerves."
"I know what you mean," Sean said. "But's he's never mentioned retiring in the five years I've known him."
"Well," Mac interrupted. "We'll have plenty of time to get acquainted later. Right now, I need you to gather round because I have a really important mission for you."
"Great," Clover muttered. "This guy's gonna be a pain in the butt just like Jerry."
"And the first thing you'll need for this mission is an official W.O.O.H.P platinum credit card."
At that, Clover perked up.
"Whoa!" the girls said, zipping over.
"Did you just say, 'platinum credit card?'" Clover asked, looking amazed.
"That's right," Mac said, pulling the card out of his jacket.
"W.O.O.H.P gave me a couple of new cards this morning. Your first mission is to go shopping on the organization's dime."
"Whoa!" Sean said, coming over. "Back up. What kind of a mission is that?"
Clover scoffed. "Come on, Sean. You know what they say. Never look a gift card in the security code."
"That's 'gift horse in the mouth,' Clover."
She ignored him, turning back to Mac. "So where do we go?"
Mac smiled. "I know this fabulous new department store... in Paris."
"Paris?!" the girls squealed in delight.
"That can't be all," Sean said.
"Yeah," Alex said, apparently in agreement.
Sean smiled, thinking he at last heard some sense.
"What about our gadgets? Jerry always gives us gadgets."
Sean's smile vanished.
"Okay," Mac said, beginning to pull out a few gadgets.
"Here's the Parasol Crossbow, the Backpack Jetpack, the Crime Scene Scanner Watch, the Tornado in a Can of Hairspray, and a tube of immobilizing Stuntan Lotion."
Reluctantly, Sean took them, getting the feeling they would need them sooner or later.
"Have fun," Mac said, pressing a button, sending them down a trapdoor.
Les Grandes Galeries, Paris-11:00 AM
"It's official!" Clover said excitedly. "Mac's the best! The total, ultimate coolest!"
She and the girls were carrying a few shopping bags and looking very much at home in the store.
"You can say that again," Sam concurred. "But he's also so cool and smart."
Sean, on the other hand, just looked troubled.
"But it doesn't make sense," he said. "I've worked at W.O.O.H.P since I was 12, and I've never heard of the guy, let alone met him. Why would Jerry leave him in charge?"
"Speaking of Jerry," Alex said. "I'm gonna call him to see what he might like for a retirement gift."
She took out her Compowder and in seconds, Jerry was on the screen, still on the golf course.
"Hey, Jer!" she said. "It's Alex! Just wondering what you might like as a retirement-"
"Sorry, I can't help you," Jerry interrupted. "I'm retired."
Hitting the ball yet again, he closed the connection as the screen went black.
"Rude much!" Clover said.
"Don't worry about it," Sam said.
"Yeah, Jerry's loss is totally our gain!"
Sam looked around. "Maybe I'll buy a gift for Mac. After all, a little generosity can go a long way."
"A gift?" Sean asked. "Sam, we don't even know him."
Clover stepped between the two. "What's there to know? Mac's a totally awesome guy who gave us a new credit card and sent us on a really great shopping spree."
"Look, I know he's... less annoying than Jerry and, I have to admit, I do like Paris. But I don't think he's as great as you think. And it still bugs me that Jerry would just retire without letting us know first."
"Well," Alex pointed out. "Maybe all that stress just got to him. I mean, running a spy organization would totally wipe me out."
"Girls, I've known Jerry longer than you have. He couldn't relax if his life depended on it."
Sam put a hand on his shoulder.
"Sean," she said. "I know you miss Jerry, but don't you think you're being a little paranoid?"
Sean backed away. "Paranoid? Our boss retires without telling us and a new agent we've never heard of takes his place and you're calling me paranoid?"
The girls looked to each other.
"Yup," Alex said.
"Mm-hmm" Sam concurred.
"Pretty much," Clover added.
Sean facepalmed.
"Hey," Sam said, coming over to him. "Just relax. I'm sure Jerry didn't mention Mac for a good reason. And maybe he just decided he needed a break. Besides, how often do we get a trip like this?"
Sean sighed. "Maybe you're right. Maybe I am being paranoid. I guess it comes from being a spy for too long."
Sam smiled.
Then a whirring noise cut them off.
"What the hell?!" Clover exclaimed.
The other three turned to see that the credit card she was holding now had two small blades protruding from the edges, and more importantly, it was spinning through the air like a throwing star that suddenly started moving on its own.
After flying up to the ceiling, it lowered itself... aiming for the four teens below it.
"Run for it!" Sam shouted.
They all took off, as the card kept flying through the air, cutting chandeliers off the ceilings and sending them crashing to the ground, sending many shoppers running in a panic.
As they looked up from behind a display of clothes, the card attacked them next.
They each ran in different directions as the card shredded the clothes that were in the display.
"Oh, man!" Clover said. "What a waste! Those were cashmere!"
"Time for a little retaliation," Sam said, determined.
Reaching into her bag, she pulled out the Parasol Crossbow and took aim.
But the dart she fired instead hit a mannequin of a woman wearing a swimsuit.
As the card made its way back around, Clover took a stiletto heeled shoe, and smashed the card into pieces.
"Okay," she said, catching her breath. "That's a little more purchasing power than I was looking for."
"We'd better get back to W.O.O.H.P and tell Mac what happened," Sean said.
"Nice suit," Clover said, as they came back into the office.
Mac was standing in front of a mirror, modeling what appeared to be a spacesuit.
He turned around to see the four teens standing before him.
"Whoa," he said, taking off the helmet. "Back so soon?"
"Yeah," Sam answered. "We had a little problem with the credit card. Not that we didn't totally appreciate you giving it to us."
"What? Was it declined or something?"
"If only," Sean said.
"It attacked us with its whirling sawblades of death!" Alex said. "We barely made it out of the store alive!"
Sam pulled out a white shirt that had been shredded in a few places by the card.
"For you. Sorry I didn't have time to get it giftwrapped."
"Oh," Mac said in sympathy. "You can't be serious!"
"Unfortunately," Clover replied. "We are serious. And so is the $200,000 bill for damages you'll be receiving from the department store."
Sean folded his arms.
"Doesn't it even bother you that we were almost shredded by a killer credit card?" he asked.
"Sean," Sam said. "Mac is a seasoned agent. He's probably been in so many dangerous situations, stuff like this doesn't even phase him."
"I apologize," Mac said, putting the helmet on the desk. "You've got to let me make this up to you. How about a cliff diving adventure in Acapulco?"
"I think we've had enough international excitement for one day," Sean responded.
"Well, then the least I can do is offer you a ride home in style."
He took a car key off the desk.
"Take my brand-new Turbo Titan 3000 XT. Just bought it yesterday. Still has that new car smell."
"Wow," the girls said.
"Well," Clover giggled. "If you insist."
Mac's car, which turned out to be a convertible, sped along through the night air.
Sean sat in the back seat beside Alex while Sam took the front passenger seat, and Clover was behind the wheel.
"This is totally awesome!" Sam exclaimed. "I mean, could Mac possibly be any more money?! I mean, he's got the brains, he's kind of cute, and his car's the bomb!"
Sean looked down, feeling a little nauseous at Sam calling Mac "cute."
Well, he thought. Why shouldn't it bother you? He's old enough to be her dad.
"Tell me about it!" Clover agreed. "This car practically drives itself!"
But after that, she stopped in front of a booth with a giant neon sign of a pair of sunglasses.
"Ooh!" she said. "Sunglasses!"
"What do we need sunglasses for?" Sean asked, getting out along with Alex.
"It's nighttime!"
Clover and Sam got out next.
"It's not a question of function, Sean," she answered as they walked away from the car. "It's a question of fashion."
That was when the explosion happened.
"Whoa!" they all cried after being knocked off their feet.
When they recovered, they looked back to see their car, now a flaming wreck.
"Whoa," Clover said. "I guess this car really is the bomb."
"I wonder what could've caused this," Alex added.
Sean saw something move out of the corner of his right eye.
He turned his head to see a single stick of dynamite rolling on the ground near him.
"I think the question is 'Who could have caused this?'"
"Huh?" Alex wondered, as he picked up the stick.
Taking out the Crime Scene Scanner Watch, he attached it to his left wrist and ran it over the dynamite.
After about 45 seconds, the scan was complete, and Sean opened the watch's circular face to reveal a screen displaying a fingerprint next to a criminal profile, one without a picture.
"Bingo!" he said, success in his voice.
"What is it?" Alex asked.
"A fingerprint," Sean explained. "A fingerprint that belongs to a criminal named Tim Scam."
Alex looked at the watch screen.
"Man, his rap sheet's longer than Clover's list of past boyfriends!"
"Well, almost," Clover said, indignantly and walked off.
"Uh-oh," Sam said as Sean closed the watch. "We should warn Mac. I mean, first the evil credit card and now this. I think this Tim guy's after him."
"I think you're right," Sean said, taking out his wallet phone. "I'll call him."
But unfortunately, that option wasn't viable.
"There's no answer," he said.
"Then I guess we better get to W.O.O.H.P and warn him," Clover said.
"And how exactly are we gonna do that?" Alex asked.
"Yeah," Sam agreed. "In case you forgot, our ride exploded!"
"Well, if we can't drive," Clover replied, handing Sam and Alex their heart-shaped jetpacks and Sean his circular one. "Let's fly!"
"Yeah!" the other three agreed.
W.O.O.H.P Headquarters-10:03 PM
Sean and the girls entered the office to find it deserted. In fact, the whole building was deserted, which he noted was unusual.
"Where could he be?" Sam asked.
"I don't know," Alex said back. "But we should at least leave him a note."
"That says what?" Clover asked. " 'Mac, FYI, in addition to turning your credit card into a whirling blade of death, some psycho also blew your car into a billion pieces of scrap metal. By the way, let's do lunch.' "
"Yeah, I don't think there's a good way to put that in a note," Sean agreed with Clover.
Alex sat behind the desk, looking through files.
She gasped as she dropped a file.
It fell open, catching the attention of the other three spies.
"Check this out," Sam said as she and Sean knelt down. "A schematic drawing of the Evapo-Blaster and a file on Tim Scam."
"That's weird," Alex said. "Why would Mac have those? Unless he knows that Tim Scam is after him."
Sean closed the folder, seeing something on the front.
"Wait a second!" he said, with realization. "This is a W.O.O.H.P employee file!"
"That's impossible," Clover said. "That would mean that..."
"Tim Scam used to work at W.O.O.H.P," Sam finished, opening the file.
"According to these records, he was W.O.O.H.P weapons technician 15 years ago. But it says here he was fired for illegal use of W.O.O.H.P technology."
"That would explain how he turned the credit card against us and how he rigged the car to explode," Sean said. "And according to this, the last weapon he developed before being fired was the Evapo-Blaster."
"We'd better call Jerry," Clover said. "I'm sure he remembers Tim Scam. After all, he worked here for, like 90 years."
"35, Clover," Sean corrected, taking out his wallet phone and calling Jerry.
Sure enough, he showed up on the screen, still on that same golf course.
"Jerry," Sean said. "You've gotta help us. There's this crazy-"
"Sorry, I can't help you," Jerry cut Sean off. "I'm retired."
Then he hit another ball.
"Tres uncouth!" Clover said, as Sean frowned. "I mean, I don't care if he is retired. This is an emergency."
"Wait a second," Sam said. At that, Sean looked back at the screen, and saw that Jerry hadn't moved or shifted positions at all since hitting the ball.
"Sorry, I can't help you," he repeated. "I'm retired."
"I knew it!" she realized. "This isn't live! This is on a tape loop."
"A tape loop?" Alex asked. "Now why would Jerry do that?"
"He wouldn't," Sean replied. "But someone else might."
"Someone like... Tim Scam!" Clover said.
No sooner than did she finish, the air vent above them was forced open, letting out a man dressed in a dark purple coat, ski goggles and a green hat.
He was pointing a gun at them.
"Hold it right there!" he said.
Clover and Alex screamed.
"It's him!" Alex shouted while pointing.
All four ran out of the office as the gun began firing.
Running as quickly as they could down the stairs, they could hear their pursuer following them.
Eventually, they came to the W.O.O.H.P Vehicle Storage.
"Maybe we could use something in here to give him the slip," Sam suggested.
"Works for me," Sean agreed.
They ran up to five motorcycles, one red, another green, then gold, then blue, and finally black.
Alex jumped in the gold one, Sam took the green and Sean blue.
"I get a ticket every time I drive my car!" Clover said, worriedly. "How am I supposed to drive any of these crazy things?!"
"How hard can this be to drive?" Alex asked, experimenting with the controls.
Then her bike lifted off the ground.
"What the?" she asked, confused.
"Anti-Gravity Cycles!" Sean explained.
Then the door opened, letting Tim Scam in.
"No time for driving lessons!" Clover said, as they all took off.
Unfortunately, Scam took the only remaining bike, and pursued them.
He chased them down numerous hallways from dioramas of prehistoric times to statues of W.O.O.H.P agents declared killed or missing in action.
He fired freezing blasts at them from the cycle as they continued soaring deeper into the building.
One blast eventually froze the area in front of them, covering the spies in ice.
"Ugh!" Clover complained. "As if my hair isn't brittle enough!"
But in no time, the ice on her hair melted, and the chase continued
They flew past a yeti, into a tunnel that reminded Sean of an aquarium, and into a room filled with skeletons and mummies from different cultures around the world.
"I never realized how creepy this place is," Clover said. "I'm glad we work outside the office."
"If it makes you feel any better," Sean said. "I haven't seen much of this place either."
Eventually, they came to an overpass that led to another section of the building.
Sam looked into her rearview mirror.
"I think we lost him!" she announced to the others.
But she spoke to soon, as Scam's black Anti-Gravity Cycle came up beside them.
As the girls screamed, he chased the spies into another hallway, firing another freezing blast.
This one managed to hit Sam's bike, encasing the rear wheel in ice.
"Guess I don't need that wheel after all," she said.
But that was when the wheel shattered, sending her bike spiraling out of control, and off into another hallway, towards a weapons lab.
"Sammy!" Alex cried out of concern for her friend.
She, Sean, and Clover came to W.O.O.H.P's water treatment facility.
"Follow my lead!" Clover shouted to the others.
She jumped out of the bike and into a square hole, Sean and Alex following her.
Sliding down a long, damp chute, they landed in a pool of strange liquid.
"Ew!" Clover exclaimed in disgust. "Where are we?!"
"Clover, you don't want to know the answer to that question," Sean replied.
"Shh!" Alex silenced them as they heard someone approaching from the grate above them.
They cringed as the grate opened, but fear turned to relief as they saw who it was.
"Mac!" they said in unison.
Meanwhile, in a weapons lab not too far away, Sam lifted her head out of a mountain of packing peanuts.
"Alex!" she said, looking around. "Clover! Sean!"
She got up and walked around.
But before she could leave the room, she saw a familiar device, with another smaller one attached to it.
"That's strange. Why would someone outfit the Evapo-Blaster with a missile guidance system?"
Mac helped Sean, Alex, and Clover out of the grate.
"We're so happy it's you and not that crazy Tim Scam!" Alex said with joy.
"Yeah!" Clover agreed. "He's been chasing us all over W.O.O.H.P!"
"And we think he's after you, too!" Sean added.
Mac didn't seem all that concerned.
"Hmm," he said. "By the way, do you still have your Stuntan Lotion on you?"
"Uh," Sean said, pulling it out. "Sure."
He gave it to him, and all four began to walk away.
"So," Clover said, as they walked in front of a long, mirrored wall.
"What are we going to do about Tim Scam?"
But all three teens stopped as they saw Mac's nametag. Or, more accurately, its backwards reflection in the mirror.
Upon seeing what it read, Sean instantly regretted giving him that Stuntan Lotion.
"Hey!" Alex called out. "Did you know that your name backwards spells 'Tim Scam'?"
Mac paused, looking down at his reflection.
"Whoa, that is a weird coincidence."
"Uh, Alex?" Sean said. "I don't think it's a coincidence."
"You're... Tim Scam," Clover said, seeing where Sean was going.
Mac, or rather, Tim Scam turned around, aiming the Stuntan Lotion tube at them.
They turned to run, but weren't quick enough as the lotion hit them, paralyzing them in their tracks.
Scam smiled evilly to himself.
"Thank goodness you're alright," Sam said, arriving on the scene. "I was so worried that Tim Scam got to you."
But then she noticed that her friends weren't moving, their faces frozen in terror.
Gasping, she turned back to see Scam holding the Stuntan Lotion.
She tried to run but was too slow and Scam stunned her too.
"Not so fast," he said.
Sean woke up feeling stiff as a board, rubbing his lower back in pain.
"Call emergency!" Clover said. "I need a deep tissue massage right this second."
"Make it two!" Alex concurred.
"Ditto!" Sean called out.
"Hey!" Alex realized. "Where's that jerk Mac Smit or Tim Scam or whatever his name is?!"
"Forget about that jerk," Sam said. "Where are we?"
Sean looked around. They were in a small, cramped white room. But what caught his attention the most was the fact that they were floating in midair.
They found a window. Looking out below it, they saw the planet Earth shimmering blue below them.
"We're in space," Sean realized.
A screen on the opposite end of the room lit up, showing Tim Scam in the W.O.O.H.P spacesuit he was trying on earlier. He was holding the Evapo-Blaster.
"Try to relax and enjoy the ride, spies," he said.
"Why did you bring us out here?" Sam demanded.
"And what do you plan to do with that?" Clover indicated the Evapo-Blaster.
"Why," Scam replied. "I'm going to use it to evaporate the entire Earth's water from the safety of my spaceship."
"I gotta say," Alex commented. "Even for a complete psycho like you, that's still a really crazy idea."
"Thank you,' Scam returned.
"We read your W.O.O.H.P file," Sean said. "We know all about your criminal past."
Scam looked down, frustrated. "W.O.O.H.P never did appreciate me for the genius that I am."
"Oh, you're a genius alright," Sean continued. "An evil genius. Just what are you going to do with all that water, anyway?"
Scam smiled. "If you must know, I'm going demand the world leaders pay me $40,000,000 if they want it back. Of course, I won't be able to return of all of it in time. By my estimate, about 15% of the world's population will decline. But not that it matters, since I'll be rich."
Sam scowled. "I can't believe I actually thought that you were cool. You seemed so smart. But now I see you're just another immature, run of the mill terrorist. We're, like so over!"
"Yeah!" Clover concurred. "And you can just forget about your crazy little plan because you're going to have to deal with us first."
"Okay," Scam said in a matter-of-fact tone. "You're dealt with. Oh, and while you're out there, tell Jerry I said hello."
He ended the video transmission, and the pod the spies were trapped in, which turned out to be attached to a larger spaceship detached, sending it hurtling into space.
The spies screamed as they struggled to think of a way out of this predicament.
Fully dressed in the W.O.O.H.P spacesuit, Scam emerged from the hatch of his ship, taking aim at the planet below him. In particular, its water.
"Finally," he said. "My weapons can be put to good use."
He pulled the trigger, sending an evaporating blast straight toward Earth.
On the planet below, oceans dried up, water from fire hoses vanished without a trace, even water from bottles wasn't spared.
And he wasn't finished. He just kept firing.
"Oh, no," Sam said, as she and her fellow spies looked out the window. "He already started."
"We've gotta stop him!" Clover said.
Alex turned to the others.
"What do you think Scam meant by 'Tell Jerry I said hello?' "
Her question was answered by another pod floating into view.
They looked into the window of the neighboring pod and inside they saw...
"Jerry!" they all shouted in unison.
"Now it all makes since!" Sean said. "Scam must have blasted Jerry out here so he could take Jerry's place and gain access to W.O.O.H.P!"
"We've got to get to Jerry before he runs out of oxygen!" Alex said urgently.
"But how are we supposed to get over to him?" Clover asked.
"Wait, I've got it!" Alex answered, pulling out the Tornado in a Can of Hairspray.
"Great idea!" Clover said, enthusiastically. "What's your idea?"
Alex ripped open a panel.
"I'm gonna use the Tornado in a Can to give us a little kick!"
She attached the hairspray can to one of the circuit boards, spraying it, letting out a gust of wind that blew the spies to the other end of the cabin.
"Oops!" Alex said, embarrassed. "I guess I had the can turned the wrong way."
Making her way back to the exposed panel, she turned the can the right way and sprayed it again.
This time, the pod went over to Jerry's. A robotic arm, emerging from the spies' pod, grabbed Jerry's.
"We did it!" Clover celebrated. "We hooked up to Jerry's pod!"
"Now take us back to the mothership," Sean said.
Back at the ship, Scam continued to fire the Evapo-Blaster at random locations throughout Earth.
He laughed evilly but then felt something hit his ship.
He looked back to see the pod he trapped the spies in docking back.
The airlock door opened, and thanks to the zero gravity, the spies were able to tow Jerry inside the main ship with ease.
"It's a good thing there's no gravity out here," Clover said. "Or Jerry would be out of luck."
Rapidly searching through emergency supplies, Sean found an oxygen tank and a breathing mask. As quickly as he could, he attached the mask to Jerry's face, then connected it to the oxygen tank.
"Come on, Jerry," Clover said, worried. "You've got at least a couple more years in you."
Temporarily abandoning his quest to evaporate Earth's water, Scam lowered himself back into the ship.
After a few minutes, Jerry finally opened his eyes, much to the spies' relief.
"Jerry's gonna be just fine," Sam said. "Come on!"
They opened another door. Beyond this one was what appeared to be Scam's primary control room. But Scam himself was nowhere in sight.
"Where could he be?" Sam asked.
Clover and Sean got to the window.
"Judging by that floating ocean out there," Clover said. "I'd say he can't be far."
Outside, a large mass of water was collecting above Earth's atmosphere. And Sean knew just where it came from.
"We've got to find the Evapo-Blaster and send that water back to Earth," he said.
That was when the lights turned on.
"I've got your Evapo-Blaster right here!" Scam's voice taunted.
And there he was, right in front of them.
Taking aim, he fired it at them.
In the blink of an eye, all four spies' skin dried out, their facial bones becoming more prominent, and they all suddenly felt thirsty.
"Terrific!" Clover said. "The one day I forget my moisturizer!"
"That's nothing!" Sean said, hoarsely. "If we don't get some water in us soon, we're goners!"
Scam smiled cruelly as a pink bubble floated up in front of him.
"Hey!" he shouted in confusion.
His face, once stuck in a near permanent smug grin, was contorted with fear.
And Sean could see why. The bubble was getting larger. Large enough for a person to fit inside.
"What is this?!" Scam demanded fearfully, as the bubble began to enclose itself around him.
Finally, he was trapped.
The spies looked to see Jerry back on his feet. Well, he would have been if not for the lack of gravity.
"Jerry!" they cheered.
"Don't you remember?" he asked Scam, floating over to him.
"I think this was your best weapon ever."
The Evapo-Blaster, now abandoned, was floating freely throughout the ship. Jerry quickly caught it and aimed it at the four shriveled spies.
"You look like you could use some liquid refreshment,' he said.
Turning a knob on the side, he pulled the trigger.
In seconds, each teen felt a little more hydrated. A good thing too. Sean's head was beginning to pound after being hit with the weapon.
They all floated around Jerry.
"Thanks so much for saving us, Jerry," Alex said.
"Yeah!" Clover agreed. "I almost feel bad for calling you a boring old goat."
"You called me a what?" Jerry asked, offended.
"No time to explain," Sam said dismissively. "We've gotta get that water back to Earth!"
"Let me out of here!" Scam shouted furiously inside his bubble cage, which was now bouncing all over the ship.
"And maybe find a cell for him," Sean suggested.
Sean fell back on Sam's couch along with his friends, grateful that little escapade was over.
"So," Sam said. "We missed our snowboarding trip, but at least we saved the world."
"And we saved Jerry," Alex reminded.
"I never thought I'd admit it," Clover interjected. "But I was really starting to miss that old goa-"
Sean glared at her, cutting her off.
"I mean mature guy."
"I know what you mean," Sean said. "He may drive me crazy, but I can't imagine being a spy without him."
Sam's TV turned on, revealing Jerry sitting behind his desk.
"Good evening, spies," he said. "Just wanted to stop by and officially thank you for saving my life."
"Don't sweat it!" Clover said. "After all, you saved our lives too."
"Still, I did want to properly show my appreciation. And so, I'm sending you all on a surprise ski trip to St. Moritz."
All four teens beamed.
"Wow!" Sam exclaimed. "Thanks!"
"Cool!" Alex added.
Sean nodded eagerly.
"But first," Jerry interrupted. "I have a mission for you. I need you to train the entire W.O.O.H.P canine division. That is, of course, after you do your homework and clean your rooms and I've got some filing I need to have done."
Their faces dropped.
"Oh, no!" Sam cried.
"Not again!" Alex said.
"Jerry!" Clover complained.
Sean looked to the blonde.
"You know, you probably shouldn't have called him a boring old goat to his face."
