Author's Note: Hello, readers! This story is the official sequel of my Star Wars fanfic, 'Threads of Destiny' and will be based on Nadia and Ferus as well as their roles in rising the Rebellion against the Empire. But also on them working with their allies to survive the wrath of Darth Sidious, Darth Vader and other evils in the galaxy.
I don't own Star Wars or its characters, but Nadia Aomori and my other OCs I own only.
Enjoy!
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away….
For years, the galaxy-wide conflict known as the Clone Wars has raged.
The struggle between the rightful government of the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems has claimed the lives of untold billions.
The Force-wielding Jedi, for millennia the guardians of peace in the galaxy, have been thwarted at nearly every turn by the Separatists and their leader, the Sith Lord Count Dooku.
With the war showing no signs of ending and the casualties mounting each day, the Jedi must consider every possible means of defeating their cunning foe.
Only to meet their utter demise by Chancellor Palpatine, who was none other than Darth Sidious; the very Sith Lord that they were desperate to defeat and had been been playing in both sides in the Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars are now over.
The Jedi are defeated.
Palpatine has become Emperor, finally in position to bend the galaxy to his will through the power of the Sith.
Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker has fallen to the dark side of the Force. Swayed by Palpatine's promise to help prevent the death of his pregnant wife, Padmé, Skywalker betrayed the Jedi and became the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Defeated by his old friend and former master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader was left to die on the volcanic planet Mustafar.
Retrieved by Dark Sidious and placed into a suit of cybernetic armor to preserve his life, Vader awakens to learn that wife has died. Now, for Darth Vader, there is only rage, pain and the new Galactic Empire.
The galaxy is now on the brink of total darkness.
The Jedi Knights have been all but destroyed.
Only a handful have escaped Imperial forces, disappearing into hiding across the Galaxy.
But with the Empire now in power, the last of the Jedi are eager to survive while hiding from the wrath of Darth Sidious and his apprentice, Darth Vader.
Among the Jedi survivors in doing so were Nadia Aomori, Obi-Wan Kenobi's second former Padawan and her close partner, Ferus Olin. Both these Jedi Knights are desperately looking for survivors while in hiding from the allies of the Empire that are hunting them down….
The Fire of the Rebellion
Prologue
(19 BBY)
In Coruscant, it was the night hour and many civilians gathered near the damaged Jedi Temple that was guarded by several Clone Troopers.
On the steps of the Jedi Temple, Mas Amedda was conducting a ceremony, destroying the lightsabers of the many Jedi slain and sent into hiding by the Great Jedi Purge, telling the citizens that they will never again fear the Jedi and that Emperor Palpatine has saved them from their treachery.
"Never again we will fear the Jedi!"Mas Amedda declared."Through the grace of our Emperor Palpatine, we were saved from their treachery!"
Watching the scene from above was Darth Sidious and his new apprentice, Darth Vader.
"The Jedi are gone!"Mas Amedda continued."The Emperor saw through their Separatist plots! Their lies! He survived their attempt to assassinate him! And now at last, we are save!"
Mas Amedda and a couple of Clone Troopers placed the lightsabers into an incinerator where they began to melt.
"Never again will their instruments of oppression terrorise the Galaxy!"Mas Amedda declared and lifted up a deactivated lightsaber."We have entered a new age! An age of freedom!"
The melted lightsabers in the incinerator recoiled as their kyber crystals explode, blasting a fierce beam of energy and flame into the sky.
"Thus tyranny ends!"Mas Amedda informed.
The crowd cheered loudly at Mas Amedda's announcement.
On Naboo, the sky was dark and grey.
Padmé's funeral took place in a solemn ceremony in Theed.
There was a large crowd in the street, following an open casket being pulled by four gualaar.
Among the mourners were Padmé's family, Queen Apailana and Jar Jar Binks.
Ferus wore a civilian disguise with a dark blue cloak and held hands with his two nieces, Ryoo and Pooja as they followed their family members from behind with heavy hearts.
Padmé's body laid in the flowered coffin while her hands clasp the japor snippet given to her by Anakin and her body appeared to still be pregnant.
In the crowd, Senators Bail Organa and Mon Mothma, colleagues of the late Amidala, stand together.
Bail then caught sight of a familiar face in the crowd: Ahsoka Tano, the former Padawan of Padmé's secret husband, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker.
But Ahsoka vanished almost as soon as Bail noticed her.
Ahsoka walked into a colonnade of the royal palace, feeling sad and lost over the death of Naboo's beloved Senator, who earned her friendship and was one of the people who believed in her innocence when she was framed for a crime she didn't even commit before leaving the Jedi Order.
The female Torguta still couldn't believe it.
First the Jedi Order.
Then Anakin.
And now…Padmé's gone.
How could all this happened?
She should have been at the Temple.
She should have been with Anakin.
She should have helped.
Instead, she'd been on Mandalore, almost entirely alone, surrounded by Clone Troopers, confusion and blaster fire.
Maul had escaped, of course.
She'd had the opportunity to kill him, but had chosen to save Rex instead.
She didn't regret that, couldn't regret it, but the mischief and worse that Maul might wreak in a galaxy with no Jedi to protect it gnawed at her.
Ahsoka came out of her thoughts when a hooded figure came out from a nearby pillar to go to her.
The figure removed her hood, revealing her raven black hair which draped down her back and ruby red eyes.
It was Nadia Aomori.
Her best friend.
Also, the second and last Padawan that Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi trained after his last apprentice, Anakin Skywalker was ranked to Jedi Knight.
Nadia wore a fuchsia kirtle dress under a magenta surcoat with a gold hoop belt. Over her dress, she wore a beige cloak toggled by a brooch with a purple jewel and a gold ring.
The raven haired girl removed the beige hood with magenta trim that covered her face, revealing her face to her best friend.
"Hey, Soka."Nadia greeted with a weak smile.
"Hey, Dia."Ahsoka responded."How are you?"
"Surprisingly, at ease."Nadia declared."Despite…our losses."
Ahsoka smiled lightly at her best friend before a sad expression appeared on her face when she thought about her former Master.
"is it really true?"Ahsoka asked sadly."Is Anakin really gone?"
Nadia suddenly became uneasy at the mention of her former older brother figure, but carefully used the Force to hide her fear.
"Yes."Nadia lied, looking down with a sad expression."A lot of Jedi came to the Temple before the 501st ambushed us. I was with the younglings when I last saw him. He fought with all his might…but he was killed by Palpatine's new apprentice, Darth Vader."
Nadia winced at the painful memory she saw with her own eyes.
Though the memory that the raven haired girl remembered was seeing her former close friend slaughtering the Jedi in the Temple. Including, the younglings that were friends with Ahsoka.
But despite what Anakin had done, it made her grieve deeply inside that he met a foul end in Mustafar and couldn't be saved.
"I see."Ahsoka responded, feeling hurt that her brother figure was gone."What about Obi-Wan?"
A small frown appeared on Nadia's face at the mention of her former master.
"He's alright."Nadia answered casually."But he went into hiding after he sent a warning for all surviving Jedi to stay away from the Temple in Coruscant."
Ahsoka looked down in silence before Nadia gave her a hug.
"But I'm glad you are safe, Soka."Nadia informed.
Ahsoka then hugged Nadia back.
"I can say the same to you, Dia."Ahsoka commented.
Nadia became surprised when she saw Senator Organa walking toward her and Ahsoka.
"You shouldn't have come here."Bail declared."There's nothing you could have done. For either of them. Why risk it?"
Ahsoka took off her hood as she turned around to face Bail.
"She was my friend."Ahsoka admitted with a hurtful look.
Suddenly, Ahsoka, Nadia and Bail heard comms chatter in the distance, but not far from where they stood.
"Shock Troopers."Nadia murmured with a hint of fear.
"There's a patrol coming."Bail exclaimed."You must leave. Where is your ship?"
"The river."Ahsoka replied.
"This way."Bail instructed.
Bail led Ahsoka and Nadia just before two Coruscant Guard shock troopers entered the colonnade.
They arrived at a balcony above the cliffs by the river.
The Senator of Alderaan brought out a comlink.
"Here."Bail said and handed it to Ahsoka."If you need anything, you can contact me or Nadia with this."
Ahsoka looked at the comlink in her hand and initially refused it.
"No."Ahsoka answered."I'm tired of fighting."
Nadia let out a sigh.
"So am I, Ahsoka."Nadia admitted honestly."But this doesn't mean the whole galaxy is at peace even though the Clone Wars are over and the Jedi Order is gone. Things are worse than they were before."
"You there!"
Both Bail and Nadia became alarmed when they caught sight of the two Coruscant Guard shock troopers coming their way.
But when they turned around, Ahsoka was no longer next to them.
The two Coruscant Guard shock troopers went up to Bail and Nadia.
"What can we do for you, officer?"Bail asked.
"Let's see some identification."the first Coruscant Guard shock trooper insisted.
"Alright."Nadia answered.
Bail handed his ID to the first Coruscant Guard shock trooper as Nadia took out her own ID.
The second Coruscant shock trooper went past Bail and Nadia to look around the balcony for anything suspicious.
"Senator Organa of Alderaan."the first Coruscant Guard shock trooper read.
"That's right."Bail responded.
The first Coruscant Guard shock trooper gives Bail his ID back before Nadia handed him her ID.
"Natalya Romanova."the first Coruscant Guard shock trooper said.
Nadia nodded. "That's me."
The first Coruscant Guard shock trooper gave Nadia her ID back to her while the second Coruscant Guard shock trooper went next to him.
"I'm afraid no one's allowed back here, Senator Organa and ma'am."the first Coruscant Guard shock trooper declared."Imperial orders."
"Sorry, officers."Nadia apologised and looked down for a moment."We've got a little off track due to the passing of Senator Amidala."
"Forgive us. It's easy to get lost with all that has happened."Bail exclaimed."Still, we have a duty. Don't we? An obligation to uphold, when we're able."
The Coruscant Guard shock troopers looked at each other before looking back at Senator Organa and his companion.
"We'll have to escort you and Miss Romanova back to the procession, Senator Organa."the second Coruscant Guard shock trooper admitted.
"We understand."Bail assured."And if you should ever need anything, please contact us."
"We'll be standing by to help out."Nadia vowed in a firm tone.
Bail and Nadia then walked away with the two Coruscant Guard shock troopers escorting them.
After Bail, Nadia and the Shock Troopers were gone, Ahsoka leaped below the balcony.
The female Torguta descended to the bottom of the canyon and returned to where a Y-wing starfighter was parked, with Rex and R7-A7 waiting for her.
The three of them then departed from Naboo, once all of them were onboard.
Nadia and Bail spoke to each other near the Pergola's Bridge; a famous tan-coloured, man-made bridge that crossed the Solleu River within Theed.
"I am sure your wife will be very happy when you introduce Leia."Nadia remarked.
"I am sure she will be."Bail replied and looked at the view near the bridge."We've…always wanted to have a daughter of our own."
Nadia gave Bail a bittersweet smile.
The raven haired girl heard that Queen Breha and her husband had many difficulties in producing a child and heir.
The Queen of Alderaan had suffered at least five miscarriages, despite receiving treatment from the best fertility doctors in the Galactic Republic.
So hopefully Leia would be a blessing in the Royal Family of Alderaan.
"May you and Queen Breha have a happy life with Leia."Nadia declared."And I'll make sure to help out if anything comes up. Even Ferus."
Bail turned to give Nadia a small yet warm smile.
"Thank you."Bail answered."But I am sure Leia's aunts will help out as well."
"Aunts?"Nadia said in confusion.
"My sisters; Rouge, Celly and Tia Organa."Bail admitted."My wife has a sister as well, Deara Antilles."
Nadia smiled in approval.
"Right."Nadia replied with a nod."Until next time then, Senator Organa."
Bail and Nadia shook hands with each other.
"Until next time, Miss Romanova."Bail responded.
After separating herself from Bail, Nadia made her way to the Naberrie Family House.
When Obi-Wan's former apprentice arrived to her destination, she found Ferus waiting for her outside the household's entrance.
"Nadia, where have you been?"Ferus questioned in concern."I've been worried sick about you."
Ferus and Nadia embraced each other.
"Sorry, Ferus. Didn't mean to scare you."Nadia apologised."I went to talk to Bail and Ahsoka."
Ferus became surprised at the mention of Ahsoka.
"Ahsoka was here?"Ferus asked.
"Yeah."Nadia said with a nod."She came to secretly attend Padmé's funeral despite the dangers."
Ferus frowned. "Did the Shock Troopers see her?"
Nadia shook her head.
"No."Nadia answered."And they didn't seem suspicious of my ID name either."
"That is good."Ferus commented."At least the identity card you received from Senator Garm Bel Iblis will keep you save for the time being."
Ferus and Nadia then headed inside the Naberrie Household.
After coming inside and closing the door, Nadia and Ferus placed their cloaks on the hook hangar.
Ferus wore a long-sleeved light blue tunic with irregular texture hand-sewn threads on the cuff and a V-shape cut on the chest, tied with a light brown cord, dark grey trousers and dark brown boots.
The couple arrived in the living room, where they found Ruwee, Jobal, Sola, Darred, Ryoo and Pooja gathered around a cradle and appeared to be smiling despite losing their beloved relative.
Inside the cradle was a female infant with a tuft of dark blonde hair and wore a pale white pink dress. Her deep brown eyes weren't shown since she was sleeping peacefully.
The infant was Lisa Winama Naberrie.
Anakin and Padmé's third child that was born after her triplet siblings Luke and Leia.
Nadia sat in a sofa chair as Ferus walked up to his adopted family.
"What do you think of your new baby cousin, Ryoo and Pooja?"Ferus asked.
Ryoo and Pooja both smiled at Ferus.
"We love her, Uncle Fairy."Ryoo replied.
"She's so cute."Pooja complemented happily.
"Yeah. She is."Nadia agreed with a nod and thought sadly."Too bad, Luke and Leia are not part of this moment."
Ryoo looked at Darred.
"Can I hold her, daddy?"Ryoo asked.
"Of course, sweetheart."Darred replied.
Darred Janren Naberrie was a man in his early 30s with caramel brown and light brown eyes. He wore a dark green long sleeved shirt, grey trousers and light brown boots.
He was the husband of Sola Naberrie and the father of Ryoo and Pooja Naberrie.
Sola smiled at her sleeping niece as her husband carefully picked her up from the cradle and placed her in Ryoo's arms.
Lisa continued sleeping peacefully as Ryoo placed a gentle kiss on her cousin's forehead while Pooja went to join her older sister.
Ruwee and Jobal smiled at their newborn granddaughter.
"She's beautiful."Jobal remarked kindly and then glanced at her husband."Padmé and Anakin would be proud of her."
"Yes, they would've have."Ruwee responded with a sad smile, agreeing with his beloved wife."Lisa's birth has become a hopeful blessing in this household and our family."
Sola nodded. "We couldn't be more happier."
Ferus nodded in agreement while Nadia smiled softly at her boyfriend's relatives.
The two of them actually wished they could tell the Naberries the true demise of Lisa's father as well as the existence of her triplet brother, Luke and sister, Leia.
But neither of them couldn't risk it.
Not yet.
Particularly, with Darth Sidious on the loose and now more dangerous now that he ruled the whole galaxy.
Though the young couple weren't aware that their former friend that they thought died in Mustafar was still alive and now a monstrous being that worked for the Sith Lord.
More chapters coming soon!
