And here we are at the Season 2 finale of "Through the Rough". Once again, thank you so much for all of the support you've given me throughout this adaptation's life cycle. I was super happy to deliver it to you all from the forum where it started, and now it's gotten such an outpouring of support.
Now before we get into this finale chapter, there's a couple things I'd like to point out. Based on progress so far and how things are looking for future updates, I'm guessing we'll be caught up around May 19 or so. Future updates will come on a weekly/bi-weekly basis starting on June 3.
But that's only the plan if progress keeps going as good as it has so far. Anyways, hope you all enjoy the chapter!
Drakken sighed with frustration, leaning back against the wall as he heard the door to his bar shut. Giran had just come by with new recruits for the League of Villains, only for Tomura to shun them with disgust. And now, he had gone off on his own to think over his options.
"Bastard's stupidly stubborn..." Fie muttered out.
"Without more of us together, we'll never be able to do the things we want..." Daichi mentioned.
"Tsk," Dabi scoffed, "Who needs him?" he grumbled in question.
"Everyone, please..." Kurogiri insisted, "Though somewhat conflicted, Tomura Shigaraki is quite capable of acting as a leader," he assured, "He just... needs time," he mentioned.
"Yeah, well that's something we don't have..." Drakken muttered out, "With Seth and Diego being down for the count and Müller in prison, it's only a matter of time before we get a pro at our doorstep," he noted, standing up. He then felt a buzz in his pocket, enticing him to pull out his phone. "Drakken," he answered. After a moment, he blinked in surprise. "Seriously, huh?" he inquired, "And she's all by herself?" he questioned on, grinning a little, "Alright, go on ahead..." he advised, ending the call.
"What was that about?" Himiko asked curiously.
"Some secret operation you're involved in?" Dabi guessed, "I mean, you are one of the Oracion Seis..." he mentioned, narrowing his eyes.
"Let's just say I'm covering my bases..." Drakken replied as he walked over, "What I'm looking into might be the very thing that could help me get back out of the shadows..." he mentioned ominously. Back at the Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall, Maria had taken Rebecca into a corner of the store where they wouldn't be seen. The Leaper Quirk user could feel the gun of her foe pressing against her back, making her grimace.
"Wh-What do you want?" she stuttered in question.
"Like I said, just to talk!" Maria replied in a friendly tone, "I wanna know a bit more about the Quirk that you used to beat me during our match..." she mentioned with an ominous grin. Rebecca found herself sweating nervously. This strange attitude from the Slime Quirk wasn't like anything she remembered. Was she an imposter? Or was it something else?
"What... do you wanna know?" she asked.
"For starters, you acted as if you knew exactly what I was gonna do during our fight," Maria recalled, pulling her gun away, "You dodged my kick from behind and took me out of the ring like you knew exactly what you were doing," she mentioned, "So tell me, is your Quirk really super speed?" she inquired. The urge to lie was not in Rebecca's best interest right now. She had to be really careful.
"My Quirk... lets me reverse time," she answered to the Slime Quirk user's surprise, "I'm the only one who remembers those events from the other time in which I reverse from," she explained on.
"How far back can you go?" Maria asked curiously.
"...About forty-five seconds right now..." the Leaper Quirk user replied, lowering her head ashamedly. Part of her wanted to get out of this situation and call for help. But another part of her knew that she could be putting innocent people at risk.
"Can you prove it to me?" her captor questioned, narrowing her eyes.
"S-Sure..." Rebecca stammered out. Moments later, she tore out a piece of paper from her notebook and handed it off to Maria. "Write down a word, and I'll guess it," she instructed. The Slime Quirk user chuckled.
"Okay then..." she responded, quickly scribbling on the paper, "Go ahead and make your guess," she advised.
"...Slime?" Rebecca said.
"Ooh..." Maria winced out, "Sorry, but it was 'cat'..." she told the Leaper Quirk user.
"Cat?" she repeated in confusion, raising an eyebrow. She wondered why she would even pick that specific word. Shaking her head, she then took a deep breath, closed her eyes and activated her Quirk, letting her wing-like markings appear upon her legs. A moment later, she opened her eyes to find Maria scribbling her word on the sheet of paper she had been handed.
"Go ahead and make your guess," she advised.
"It's cat, right?" Rebecca assumed, balling her hands into fists.
"Well, whaddaya know..." Maria muttered out with a smirk, "So you are the one he's after..." she realized, chuckling to herself. Rebecca shuddered a little.
"W...What does that mean?" she inquired nervously as she stuttered. All of a sudden, she felt the gun press further into her stomach, making her flinch in fright.
"Listen..." the Slime Quirk user began, "you're gonna go ahead and buy whatever crap you wanted to get here, and say nothing to anyone..." she told her, "Otherwise, a poor soul's gonna wind up dead because of you," she threatened. Rebecca was absolutely mortified that Maria would be willing to do something vile. That is, if she even was the Slime Quirk user.
A few moments later, she purchased the wireless controller along with a few other things before glancing back to see Maria pulling out her phone to talk with someone. She glanced over and shot the Leaper Quirk user a wink, which made her wince. Something told her it was a bluff and that she wouldn't hurt anyone... but Rebecca couldn't take the chance. At least... not right now.
'I need to find Izuku...' she decided inwardly, walking away quickly. Meanwhile, Maria grinned.
"Congratulations, Drakken," she said into the phone, "She's the one..." she told her boss.
When she found her best friend on the bench, Rebecca thought she would have some sense of relief from earlier. But when she saw who he was with, that relief instantly vanished into complete fear. Tomura had come to the mall coincidentally and wound up finding Izuku of all people, engaging him in a conversation.
The One For All inheritor only complied because he didn't want to risk getting innocent people hurt. Their talk consisted of how Stain had made the rounds in the news over the League of Villains, and how his ideals were more understood than those of Tomura. And it all culminated in the ultimate realization.
"It's all... about All Might!" the villain exclaimed, having a very sinister smile build upon his face.
"GET AWAY FROM HIM!" Rebecca screamed, causing several bystanders to perk up. Izuku looked up in horror to see his best friend there, clenching her fists tightly. She wanted so badly to do something... yet rescinded as she knew that it could very well result in their deaths.
"Whoops!" Tomura yelped as he let go of the One For All inheritor, allowing him to breathe, "Sorry about that!" he apologized with a smile, "I didn't realize he had friends here!" he noted sheepishly. The Leaper Quirk user grimaced in frustration, seeing the hooded villain stand up and start to walk away.
"Wait... Shigaraki!" Izuku yelled out, causing him to perk up, "What is... All For One after?" he inquired as he rubbed his hurting throat.
"Don't know..." Tomura answered, "But you should probably watch yourself," he advised, "The next time we meet, I'll have decided to kill you," he concluded, heading off through the crowd of people, who seemed to be completely unaware of the situation. Rebecca immediately went over to help Izuku onto his feet, giving him a big hug as she whimpered. It wasn't long before the authorities showed up to investigate.
The One For All inheritor was brought into the station to talk with Naomasa about the event. Rebecca was questioned as well, though she didn't mention a word about Maria, still fearful that doing so would cause someone to get hurt. A while passed before they were discharged, meeting up with Inko as they were escorted back to the Midoriya apartment. Upon entering, the Leaper Quirk user smiled to see Happy there.
"Thank you for taking care of Happy, Missus Midoriya," she said with gratitude as she bowed.
"Oh, it's no problem at all!" Inko assured, "I'm just happy that you two are alright..." she pointed out gladly.
"Yeah..." her son agreed, giving off a small smile. He recalled talking with All Might earlier, having been told that even he wasn't able to save everyone throughout his career. Something about that made him wonder a little about Tomura and his upbringing. Maybe there was a reason he had strayed so far down his darkened path. Either way, it was a lot to think about...
"Hey," Rebecca said, getting his attention as he perked up, "Wanna test the new controller?" she offered, giving her best friend a soft smile as she pulled out the item from her shopping bag. He blinked in surprise, followed by smiling himself.
"Sure," he replied, going into the living room with her. As Inko prepared dinner, she giggled at the sight of her son and his best friend playing video games together. They had been through quite a lot in one semester. But there was much more ahead for them to face...
"So... we're all set to go?" Drakken inferred, turning to Tomura as he had returned to the bar, now having a conviction in his eyes.
"Yeah..." he replied as he grinned ominously, "We're gonna tear this whole society down, bit by bit..." he vowed.
And there you have it! Season 2 has concluded with Izuku and Rebecca getting targets on their backs, so we'll see how that gets them through next time. As for the next few chapters, we're going into the Two Heroes Arc! Big things are going to be happening there!
But even bigger than that is what's to come in Season 3... So without any more delay, let's get into the preview for what you can expect in the next season, coming in June!

Cut to Shiki attempting to land a punch on him, only for Shura to catch it in his right hand.
Poseidon Shura: Guess your gramps didn't tell you... *has Ether lines spread along his arms* You're not the only Gravity King...
He punches Shiki hard, sending him crashing through dozens of trees as Momo and Yosetsu watch in horror.
Drakken Joe: This is our era, now...
