Well, we finally started the Forest Training Camp Arc last chapter, and we'll be continuing it today! I'm very happy with all the traction that this story has gotten, especially in the wake of being on a weekly release basis as opposed to by reviews. That way, I have time to work on said chapters, along with getting the scheduled chapter updates time to get together.
So when we last left off, Class A arrived at the campground in good time! There were shenanigans, including Rebecca accidentally seeing Izuku in just a towel. And now, she's had another vivid, peculiar dream about him! Though less dangerous and more embarrassing. How's she going to handle things from here on out?
Well, let's find out! Welcome back to "Through the Rough" for its 80th chapter!
THROUGH THE ROUGH
It was hard for Rebecca to just fall back asleep after that. She got dressed in her gym clothes, tying her hair up into a ponytail and heading to the bathroom that morning. Brushing her teeth and washing her face, she sighed upon reminiscing over her dream.
'There's no way that could've been real… or could be real…' she noted to herself, 'I know what happened with the League of Villains almost came true, but…' she recalled on, sighing again.
"Penny for your thoughts?" a familiar voice inquired, causing her to blink in surprise as she turned to see Kyoka enter the bathroom with a tired look on her face.
"K-Kyoka!" the Leaper Quirk user stammered, watching as her friend went over to the sink, turning the faucet lever and letting water pour out into her hands, which she splashed her face with.
"Couldn't help but overhear you scream into your pillow again last night," she remembered, "Bad dream?" she guessed, looking over at Rebecca. She glanced away with a blush forming on her cheeks.
"Not exactly…" she mumbled, "I… kinda had a weird dream about Izuku…" she confessed, lowering her head with shame.
"Seriously?" the Earphone Jack Quirk user inquired, raising an eyebrow, "Well, I can get why you're flustered…" she realized, rubbing the back of her own head sheepishly, "Want me to keep this between us?" she offered.
"If you wouldn't mind…" Rebecca responded. Kyoka let out a silent chuckle.
"I'm happy for you, Rebecca," she told her, causing her to blink in surprise, "And I've got no doubt you and Midoriya are gonna be the envy of Mineta for the entire camp," she mentioned with a smirk. The Leaper Quirk user giggled.
"Yeah, that kinda makes it worth it…" she admitted, "Anyways, better get ourselves ready," she insisted of her classmate, "Who knows what we're in for today…" she said, heading out of the bathroom.
OPENING
Insert "ODD FUTURE" by UVERworld
Opens with Izuku and Rebecca getting into lunging stances before taking off into the distance as a bright blue sky looms overhead. We see a scene of Nana Shimura holding out her gloved hand to a skinny All Might, who accepts it as a light shines between their palms. A bright light flashes across the screen.
We cut to the rest of Class 1-A running together at the campground in their P.E. clothes, with Shiki leading the way as he leaps ahead. Ochaco and Momo are staring at him from behind somewhat longingly. But once they notice each other staring at him, they blush and look away.
Elsewhere around the camp, we see Homura using her energy blades to slash down mounds of earth formed by Pixie Bob, Shoto practicing with shooting his flames from his left arm, followed by unleashing a wave of ice from his right foot, Weisz remodeling multiple machines to practice more with his Quirk, and Katsuki unleashing large explosions up into the sky. As Izuku takes a moment to catch his breath, he looks over to see Rebecca running alongside Tenya. She spots her boyfriend and shoots him a warm smile, which he returns as he blushes.
However, that happiness is shattered as the forest is engulfed in blue flames that evening, courtesy of Dabi. He's joined by Himiko, Twice, Compress, Mustard, Muscular, Moonfish, Laguna, Fie, Daichi, Maria, and Shura. The latter of the group floats up and has Ether Gear markings expand along his right arm as he aims it down at the ground, which suddenly caves in. He grins wickedly as he dives toward Shiki, who retaliates with a Gravity Fist.
We see Laguna turning to face off with Weisz, who equips into his Arsenal armor before dashing out at him. Meanwhile, Daichi emerges from the ground, joining Maria in confronting Rebecca and Kyoka, who stand back-to-back and grimace. Izuku is in battle against Muscular, lunging forward and rearing his right fist back for a full-powered punch.
The scene changes to Drakken Joe atop a roof as the wind rushes around him. He's approached by Jaguar, who stares at him indignantly. A leaf blows by, revealing a flashback of the two confronting on the same rooftop. Drakken doesn't look like he's aged a day since then.
We cut to Tomura being approached by All For One, who rests his hand onto his head gently. Several Nomu emerge behind him, ready to act on command. We get a shot of Poseidon Nero, who opens his eyes as his dice rattle in his hands. We also see Noah Glenfield, who closes a book as he approaches the desk of Nezu at U.A.
All Might arrives, landing down mightily to confront All For One, roaring as his eyes glare onto his foe. There are several shots of Mirko, Endeavor, Justice, Holy, Eraser, Feather, Cure, Jaguar, Edgeshot, Kamui Woods, Gang Orca, and Eraser Head, with all of them battling against enemy forces.
We end on Izuku and Rebecca standing up alongside All Might, staring out determinedly towards the horizon, ready to go and save the world.
END OPENING
Kleene was in a turmoil. She and her brother had been meeting with Drakken alongside Laguna and Maria for the past few weeks of summer, organizing their plans for what they were going to do. The Wind Snatch Quirk user wouldn't have cared about this before, but it made her stomach turn.
"You alright, Kleene?" Itsuka asked, getting her attention.
"Oh…" she uttered, "I'm fine," she affirmed, "Maybe just a little tired…" she admitted as she rubbed her eyes a little. Kris walked up to her side.
"We're meeting later tonight at the cliffside," he told her in a whisper, causing her to blink in surprise, "Laguna's pulled together the itinerary, so we'll be able to make our move on one night soon…" he mentioned thoroughly.
"I… understand…" his sister slowly replied. Her stomach churned again. Laguna glanced back at the siblings before walking onward alongside his classmates. They were being led by Sekijiro to the training grounds, where the full team of the Pussycats was already hard at work training members of Class A. And it looked grueling.
"Oh man…" Hiryu uttered in shock, almost looking as if he would pass out.
"Where are Ether-types going?" Laguna asked of his teacher, getting his attention.
"You'll be with me and Aizawa," he replied, enticing Kris and Kleene to join the Tears Lover Quirk user as they went after Sekijiro.
"Good luck out there, Kleene!" Itsuka called out with a wave to the Wind Snatch Quirk user. She meekly waved back, turning away with a guilty expression. What was coming was what she dreaded. Meanwhile, Rebecca was with Shiki, Weisz, and Homura, gathered together in front of Shota. Out of the corner of her eye, the Leaper Quirk user spotted her boyfriend was training alongside Tiger, who complimented him for his agility and moves.
Seeing her boyfriend train with a smile on his face, Rebecca found herself thinking back to her peculiar dream. She didn't want to think about it, but her mind was betraying her as her face flushed red. Her teacher noticed and sighed.
"Bluegarden…" he uttered out.
"Y-Yes?!" the Leaper Quirk user responded, snapping back to attention.
"You can worry about your boyfriend after training, got it?" he advised of her. She practically froze in place, while Weisz snickered.
'Witch must've told him about us before camp… dang it…' she mumbled to herself, tearing up a little as she slouched forward.
"Sorry for the wait," Sekijiro apologized as he approached with his students. The Machina Maker Quirk user narrowed his eyes onto Laguna.
"Why do we need to train altogether?" he asked, folding his arms over his chest, "Sure, we might all be Ether-types, but our powers are all basically different," he pointed out with a shrug.
"That is true… though I wouldn't have said it out loud…" Homura admitted in response.
"When it comes to Ether-type Quirks, there've been instances of people who've managed to take their powers a step further," Sekijiro explained, "How many of you have heard of a concept known as Overdrive?" he inquired of the group.
"Over…drive?" Shiki repeated in confusion.
"My master spoke of such a power," Homura said, "Though she never attained it herself, she told me that Ether-type Quirks could be brought out to their fullest potential and reach their most critical point," she told the group.
"Correct," Shota responded, "Overdrive is an Ether-type Quirk user's best asset," he noted, "Our goal for these next few weeks is to try and get you to that level," he explained to the students.
"Well… how do we get there?" Rebecca asked, arching an eyebrow.
"Start by focusing on strengthening your known abilities," Sekijiro answered, "Another aspect of Overdrive we've come to know is change in appearance," he told the students, "The overflowing Ether takes form around an individual's body, making them look different than they normally would," he explained on.
"Sounds so cool!" Shiki exclaimed with sparkles in his eyes.
"This isn't meant to be fun," Laguna remarked coldly.
"We only pulled you aside to give you this info," Shota noted, "Just work hard like we'd expect you to," he insisted of them.
"Yes, sir!" his students responded firmly.
"Overdrive, huh?" Weisz said, stuffing his hands into his pockets, "Gotta be honest, I've never heard of that 'til now," he confessed, glancing up in thought.
"Perhaps attaining such power will make us surpass the people who passed down their Quirks to us," Homura inferred.
"I'm all fired up!" Shiki declared with his fists raised to the sky, "Once I get that Overdrive thing, I'll be a hero that doesn't let his friends get hurt!" he vowed on. Rebecca giggled at his enthusiasm. Learning about this potential power was enlightening for her as well.
'Maybe I can finally figure out what kind of hero I wanna be…' she suggested inwardly, balling her left hand into a fist.
"Hey, Rebecca?" her boyfriend's voice chimed, getting her attention as she turned to see him right next to her.
"AH!" she yelped, stumbling back a step, "I-I-I-I-Izu…!" she stammered out, blushing a bright red.
"Izu?" Izuku repeated, tilting his head in confusion as his own cheeks started to go red. The Leaper Quirk user felt her face burn brightly.
"Uh… yeah!" she responded, "Figured it'd be nice to give you a little nickname!" she noted with a shrug, "Plus, it sounds really cute, doesn't it?" she inferred with a wink.
'Oh god, what the hell am I doing?!' she asked herself, trying to maintain her composure.
"Yeah… it sounds nice…" the One For All inheritor admitted as he scratched at his left cheek, much to his girlfriend's surprise, "In that case…" he continued, "should I give you a nickname?" he inquired as his blush grew.
"You don't need to force yourself," Rebecca assured, holding her hands out to him, "Just Rebecca is fine as usual!" she affirmed with a pump of her fist.
'Stop talking, you idiot!' she begged of herself.
"So what'd Mister Aizawa and Mister Vlad King pull you away for?" her boyfriend asked curiously, making her perk up.
"Oh, it was about our Ether-type Quirks," she replied, "Apparently, if we're able to reach a certain level of power, we can go into a state known as Overdrive, which makes us a lot stronger," she explained thoroughly.
"Whoa, sounds amazing!" Izuku exclaimed, "But… how are you supposed to do it?" he inquired on.
"Training for now, I guess," his girlfriend replied, adjusting her sport sandals and rolling up her pant legs, "It's all to go beyond, right?" she assumed.
"Right," the One For All inheritor agreed. Rebecca then hurried off as her wing-like markings appeared. She was beyond thankful that the conversation hadn't gotten awkward. But she hadn't yet realized just how awkward things would start to become.
X
"Making our own food sucks…" Kyoka grumbled as she stirred the curry cooking in the pot.
"At least it builds character," Rebecca remarked, earning a soft glare from the Earphone Jack Quirk user. They giggled a little. After training, the two classes were required to prepare their own dinners in spite of how tired they were.
The Leaper Quirk user glanced over to see Katsuki accidentally blow up the fireplace where he, Fumikage and Hanta were going to cook another pot they got together. Everyone was working on prep and cooking in some way, shape or form. And even if they were struggling, some others were more than happy to help.
"Here you go," Izuku said, setting a few blocks of wood onto the fire, making it burn brighter underneath Kyoka and Rebecca's pot.
"Thanks, Izu!" his girlfriend said with gratitude, seeing him walk off to help others. The Earphone Jack Quirk user chuckled a little.
"Izu, huh?" she repeated, getting her friend's attention, "Already going with the pet names?" she assumed. Rebecca blushed a bright red.
"N-N-No!" she stammered out, "We're just… I was just…!" she tried to say, sighing a little, "This is all really overwhelming…" she confessed. Meanwhile, Momo had created a lighter from her right hand, using it to ignite the wood at her fireplace. The curry inside the pot started bubbling moments later. Shiki came over, sniffing at it curiously.
"Hey, that smells great!" he complimented as the Creation Quirk user blushed a little, "Momo, I bet you're a great cook!" he added to her. She squeaked, trembling a little as her eyes sparkled. From afar, Ochaco looked on with a blank, jealous stare while holding a knife in her hand. Mina was about to ask her for something, but upon noticing her expression and that fact that was holding something sharp, she decided to just slowly back away.
"So, is there gonna even be any traditional camp stuff that goes on here?" Weisz asked Mandalay curiously.
"More or less…" she responded, "We've scheduled it so that every other night, there'll be a special camp activity with a unique twist," she explained.
"A unique twist?" the Machina Maker Quirk user repeated in confusion, raising an eyebrow.
"Think of it as doing regular camp stuff… but with Quirks!" Ragdoll chimed in with outstretched arms, "You kitties are gonna love what we've come up with tomorrow night!" she proclaimed.
"Right…" Weisz responded as a drop of sweat rolled down the side of his head.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Shiki suddenly shrieked, getting everyone's attention as they saw him fall backwards, trembling with fright.
"Whoa, Shiki?!" Ochaco yelped.
"Are you alright?!" Homura asked as she hurried over with Shoto and Mezo.
"B-B-Bu-Bu…" the Satan Gravity Quirk user stuttered, shakily pointing his finger toward the ground. Everyone looked to see a small colony of ants marching off.
"…Bugs?" most of the class uttered simultaneously.
"Are… you afraid of insects, Shiki?" Momo inquired out of concern, getting his attention.
"Th-They're just… really creepy…" he stammered in response, whimpering a little.
'How did this guy win the Sports Festival?!' Denki wondered inwardly. Koji then came over, instructing the ants to please leave his friend alone. He shot the Satan Gravity Quirk user a thumbs up, which he gratefully returned.
"Huh…" Rebecca sighed, "You learn something new every day…" she remarked as she stirred the curry she and Kyoka were cooking. A while later, everyone was gorging on their food, not wasting a single bite after their intense training during the day. The Leaper Quirk user contently enjoyed her food, but then took notice of something.
Kota wasn't anywhere nearby. Even as the Pussycats were mingling about and eating themselves, he wasn't amongst them. Not to mention, Izuku was gone, too. After finishing her food, she washed her plate, about to go out and find them. Luckily, she didn't have to venture out into the woods as she saw her boyfriend return. He looked… somber.
"You okay?" she asked in concern. The rest of the night was considered free time for everyone, except for the remedial students, who were stuck studying. Izuku and Rebecca were sitting outside, as the former had just told his girlfriend about what he learned from the Pussycats about Kota. "That's awful…" she uttered with shaking eyes.
"I tried to show him a different perspective, but…" her boyfriend started to say, exhaling a sigh, "he's still just a kid," he pointed out.
"What'd you tell him?" the Leaper Quirk user asked.
"Well… kinda about my own experience as a kid," Izuku replied, "Not telling him that it was me specifically, but…" he continued, "I told him how I tried as hard as I could to have a chance at having a Quirk in order to be a hero…" he explained, "and about you," he mentioned.
"M-Me?" Rebecca stuttered.
"You were the person who most believed in me after everything," the One For All inheritor pointed out in response, "If it wasn't for you…" he continued, "I don't know if I'd be as happy as I am today, hero or not," he admitted.
"Izu…" his girlfriend uttered as her eyes shook. However, she smiled, leaning up against his right shoulder as he squeaked in surprise, blushing a bright red. "I don't know if I'd happy without you, too," she confessed. He blinked in surprise, but then smiled himself as he leaned against her. They were happy together. And nothing would change that.
Looking over the campground from a nearby cliffside, the group of Dabi, Himiko, Maria, Daichi, Fie, Shura and a few others let the wind brush by. The Satan Gravity Quirk user of the group narrowed his eyes, itching to get started. The Slime Quirk user took notice.
"No need to get all worked up just yet, prince," she remarked as she took her lollipop out of her mouth, getting his attention, "The kids aren't going anywhere," she pointed out.
"Tsk," Shura scoffed.
"Ergh… I just wanna let loose already!" another masked villain proclaimed as his hands were twitching.
"Calm down," Dabi insisted, "We're still waiting on a few more people to show, probably by tomorrow night," he pointed out to the others.
"Heh!" Fie chuckled, "Shooting 'em up would be a breeze!" he remarked confidently.
"Oh, but then I wouldn't have anyone to torment…" Daichi complained as he shivered a little.
"Can it," Dabi said, already sounding vexed by his colleagues. He then took notice of a trio of approaching figures, being Laguna, Kris, and Kleene. The latter of the three seemed very troubled. "About time you made it…" the burned man grumbled as he walked up to the undercover U.A. students, "So what's the deal?" he inquired. The Tears Lover Quirk user handed him a slip of paper.
"Tomorrow night, they're doing a test of courage through the forest," he told his colleagues, "The teachers and heroes will be split up, meaning it's the best time for us for us to do anything," he explained on.
"Our class is going to be in the forest," Kris mentioned, "We'll incapacitate them before closing in on our targets," he added, much to his sister's surprise.
"W-Wait…" she stuttered, "I thought we agreed we'd just sneak away when the time was right…" she assumed, causing her colleagues to glance over at her suspiciously.
"We're not killing them," Laguna pointed out.
"But…" Kleene uttered.
"We can't let them alert the other heroes about our plans," her brother interjected firmly, "How many others are coming?" he inquired on.
"About four or five," Dabi answered, "Maybe more if the situation calls for it…" he inferred, putting his hands into his pockets, "Your boss really wants that girl, huh?" he guessed. Kleene tensed up.
"Huh…" Maria sighed, "Having two targets over just one really doesn't help us…" she grumbled, "We won't know where they are in the forest until the time's right…" she pointed out.
"Then we'll set ourselves up in positions around the woods," Dabi decided, "Once everyone's ready, we'll make the move," he said.
"Sounds fine to me," Laguna responded.
"I agree," Kris chimed in. Kleene remained quiet, lowering her gaze.
"Cat got your tongue?" Himiko remarked in question as she sauntered up next to the Wind Snatch Quirk user, making her yelp in surprise as she stumbled away.
"Don't come near my sister…" Kris growled to the knife-wielding girl, who giggled behind her mask.
"We should get back to camp before someone notices we're gone," Laguna advised, getting their attentions.
"Be ready to move once the signal's out," Dabi requested of the trio of undercover students, who left. Kleene balled her fists in frustration, looking at the prosthetic that replaced her brother's arm. Having seen just what her fellow heroes-in-training had done to help save his life when raiding Müller's lab in Shibuya, she was very conflicted about what was to come. Only time would tell if she could find the stomach to go through with it.
X
Rebecca felt really bad for the remedial group of seven, save for Minoru. Their training, along with extra studying, had gone until two in the morning. They only had five hours of sleep, give or take they didn't doze off during class.
The Leaper Quirk user was still working as hard as possible to increase the output of her power. Unfortunately, she was still slower than Tenya, who actually seemed to be gaining on her. Shota clicked his stopwatch, sighing deeply.
"Nine-point-eight again," he said.
"Seriously…?" Rebecca breathed out tiredly with her hands on her knees as Tenya came over to her, "Ugh…" she groaned, "It feels like I'm totally stuck in a rut now…" she admitted ashamedly.
"Worry not, Bluegarden," the class representative insisted, getting her attention, "I'm sure you're making some semblance of headway in this endeavor," he affirmed confidently.
"Being consistent is good, sure," Shota noted as he approached, "But I'm starting to think that we've reached your limit," he pointed out to the Leaper Quirk user, who grimaced, "Iida, would you mind giving us a moment?" he requested.
"Oh, of course," the Engine Quirk user replied, jogging off. Rebecca gave off a look of frustration.
"Mister Aizawa, I know it seems like I'm not doing much, but—"
"You're holding yourself back," he interjected to her surprise as she blinked, "Something tells me that you're not convinced that what you're focusing on helps your Ether reach its critical point," he told her, "Granbell, Steiner and Kogetsu all seem to have things in mind," he pointed out, "So why don't you?" he asked.
"I…" Rebecca uttered out, unsure of how to respond. After all the instances of her using her Reverse ability, she wanted to focus on that first and foremost. But All Might's warning to her and Maria's threat lingered in her mind. She took a deep breath. "I'll get focused on something that works for me," she declared to her teacher. He merely gave her a look before walking by.
"Then get to it," he advised, "Daylight's burning," he mentioned seriously. The Leaper Quirk user balled her hands into fists. So many questions were ringing in her head.
'If I try to use Reverse too much… I could end up literally breaking myself…' she noted inwardly, 'But if I don't… I don't know how I'll improve…' she added to herself. Taking another deep breath, she hurried off. From afar, Kleene watched on worriedly.
The day went on as planned, with everyone doing their best in training. Unfortunately, it wasn't satisfactory enough for Shota, at least in terms of the remedial group of his class. He dragged them off that evening for extra lessons, much to their dismay.
That left them out of the test of courage, where Class A would be venturing through the forest path in pairs, while Class B would be attempting to scare them in various ways. When all pairs were finished, the classes would switch roles. Rebecca and the others drew straws to see who they'd trek through the woods with.
"Three for me…" she noted upon seeing the number on her slip.
"Same," Kyoka chimed in, getting her attention as she saw the Earphone Jack Quirk user walk up to her, "Guess we'll be screaming our asses off together…" she muttered, evidently not thrilled about the upcoming prospect. Her ash blonde-haired classmate giggled.
"I'm sure it won't be that bad," she affirmed confidently.
"One, two, three…" her boyfriend suddenly counted, getting her attention as she saw him standing all by himself with a slip in hand. Unfortunately, since an odd number of the class had left, it meant someone was going into the woods alone. And unfortunately, he was the very one.
"Sucks for him…" Kyoka remarked, "You better give him a big ol' hug when we get outta this…" she advised of her classmate.
"I'll be sure to…" she responded with a giggle. As Katsuki tried to get Mashirao to trade Homura for Shoto, those of Class B ventured into the forest to prepare their scare attempts. Laguna and Kris exchanged a nod, while Kleene kept her head lowered with guilt and shame.
The pairs were to go in a specific order. Momo and Koji would be first, followed by Shiki and Toru, Rebecca and Kyoka, Mezo and Fumikage, Shoto and Katsuki, Ochaco and Tsuyu, Weisz and Tenya, Homura and Mashirao, and finally, just Izuku. By the time Rebecca and Kyoka went in, they hadn't really heard anything, except for the frightening screams of the Anivoice Quirk user.
"Yeesh…" the Earphone Jack Quirk user muttered, holding onto her classmate's right arm, "I can only imagine what Class B's got in store…" she grumbled out while trembling, "Bet that prick Monoma put them up to trying something stupid…" she mentioned.
"I know it's scary, but we're having fun with it!" Rebecca pointed out in response, "I wonder what they're gonna try and have us do for other camp activities…" she said, "Smores, fireworks…" she listed off, "I can only imagine how fun those kinds of things will be!" she added excitedly. Kyoka blinked in surprise. She was a little off-put by how unafraid the Leaper Quirk user seemed.
"Hey…" she uttered, only to notice something nearby, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" she shrieked out, hiding behind her classmate. She looked over and widened her eyes. On a tree was the figure of Togaru, who appeared to have been impaled by a blade. However, that didn't seem to scare Rebecca, who giggled.
"That's a cool scare!" she complimented, causing the Razor Sharp Quirk user to blink in astonishment, "If you had fake blood, it'd probably give me a fright!" she mentioned. Kyoka was shocked.
"How the hell did that not scare you?" she wondered aloud as they continued onward.
"Well…" Rebecca uttered, looking down for a moment, "I guess after everything that's happened in the first semester, I'm kinda numb to anything scary," she told her classmate, "At least to stuff I know isn't gonna hurt me," she corrected sheepishly, "It's alright if you're scared, though," she assured to the Earphone Jack Quirk user's surprise, "'Cause I'm here to keep us moving!" she declared with a wink.
"…Heh," Kyoka chuckled, "You and Midoriya really are made for each other, you know that?" she told her partner, who giggled again. Elsewhere in the forest, Kleene was with Ibara, Setsuna, and Kinoko. Their scare tactic involved the Mushroom Quirk user making fungi pop up all around, followed by the disembodied head of the Lizard Tail Splitter Quirk user falling out in front of the group, only to be dragged away by the Vine Quirk user's vines. It was all to be accompanied by the Wind Snatch Quirk user's wind, providing an eerie effect.
"Oh man, we really got Hagakure and Granbell good with that last one!" Setsuna exclaimed quietly with a snicker, "Let's try to mix it up this time!" she insisted, "I'm crawling out from the bushes, covered in mushrooms before I'm dragged back by vines, screaming for my life…" she suggested thoroughly.
"How horrifying…" Ibara admitted with a shudder.
"I like it!" Kinoko concluded excitedly.
"Kleene, you can set the mood with the wind again," the Lizard Tail Splitter Quirk user told her green-haired classmate, who looked down solemnly. Time was running short. She knew that she was going to have to act soon. And she loathed every thought of it.
"Hey, do you smell that?" Kinoko asked as she sniffed at the air.
"It's… smoke…" Ibara realized, causing the Wind Snatch Quirk user to widen her eyes in realization. The plan had been enacted. And now, it was her turn along with her colleagues to subdue the students.
"I'm sorry…" she apologized as the wind started to swirl around her.
"Kleene, what are you—?" Before Setsuna could finish her question, she, Ibara and Kinoko were sucked into a torrent of air as they screamed, becoming entrapped in orb of wind over the Wind Snatch Quirk user's palm. Tears welled up in her eyes as her green markings shined brightly. Elsewhere in the woods, Kyoka perked up.
"You okay?" Rebecca asked of her in concern.
"I… think I just heard someone scream… but not from our class…" she replied.
"What?" the Leaper Quirk user said, raising an eyebrow, "Why would anyone from Class B be screaming?" she inquired on.
"Why indeed, kitten?" a familiar voice repeated, causing the pair to whip around to find Maria there. She was dressed in a black and pink, skintight shoulder-less spacesuit with detached sleeves that were primarily black with white forearms and light pink bands between colors. She also wore and a white hairband with pink cross stripes. "Been a while…" she remarked.
"Maria?!" Rebecca yelped in shock.
"Isn't that the chick you trounced at the Sports Festival?" Kyoka asked as she pointed to the Slime Quirk user, who chuckled.
"Trounced…" she repeated, "That's a nice way of saying 'cheated'…" she said, removing her lollipop from her mouth, "It's cool though," she assured, "I didn't really care if I won or lost…" she admitted with a shrug.
"Bluegarden… what the hell is she talking about?" the Earphone Jack Quirk user inquired of her classmate. She was surprised to find her trembling, looking very afraid.
"What are you doing here?" she asked of Maria.
"Well… my boss finally wants to meet you," she replied, dropping her lollipop, "So you're coming with me…" she declared as around the forest, various villains were already at work, preying on the students as the forest was being set ablaze by cobalt blue flames, "whether you want to or not…" she added. Elsewhere, Kris was standing over the unconscious forms of Jurota and Hiryu, while Laguna was having puddles of water scattered around the ground fly up into bottles at his belt. The villains were making their move finally. And things were going to get even crazier from there…
