I think this is one of those chapters I'm really excited about doing, especially since it takes elements of Edens Zero's lore and inserts it in a way that the reader can understand. Spoilers for those who haven't read the series past where Season 1 ended, but this chapter is going to focus on the aspect of Rebecca traveling back through time. Or at least, traveling to a moment in order to alter certain outcomes.

That made the Belial Gore Arc in Edens Zero all the more intriguing to read. I really enjoyed how it played out, being one of the series strongest arcs. So now it's time to go into that. I hope you're ready for some angst…

THROUGH THE ROUGH

FLASHBACK

"What do you mean she's not from this universe?" Shota asked of Noah after hearing what he had to say, all while Rebecca's eyes were shaking in disbelief.

"This is not the same Rebecca we've come to know, though you couldn't possibly tell the difference," the Safety Commission member explained, "In short, her Quirk didn't give her the ability to travel just through time, but space as well," he told the pair, "I made an inference of this when we first talked a few weeks ago," he mentioned to the Cat Leaper Quirk user, "You're able to alter time, whether by reversing, speeding through it, or possibly even stopping it," he continued, placing his hand onto his chin.

"Hold on for a second, Glenfield…" Shota chimed in, "I'm sure this is a little much for Bluegarden to process…" he pointed out seriously.

"Indeed it is…" Noah agreed solemnly, "From what I've seen with my own Quirk, whatever triggered Rebecca's journey into this universe happened well after the Camino incident," he said, "In fact, I believe it was today that she would've traveled," he pointed out.

"But why such a delay?" the Erasure Quirk user inquired, looking back at his student as she trembled a little.

"I humbly request that you don't implore over it," the Safety Commission member insisted, "Rebecca has already been through quite a bit of turmoil lately…" he pointed out. The Cat Leaper Quirk user said nothing, keeping her head lowered. After a few more minutes, she returned to the bus, sitting down next to Kyoka.

"Hey, you alright?" the Earphone Jack Quirk user inquired, noticing how troubled she seemed.

"Oh, uh, yeah…" she stuttered in response, letting off a small grin, "Nothing to worry about," she assured. She looked toward her boyfriend, giving him a smile, which he returned. Deep down though, she was terrified of the implications of what her power had done. Along with what she had left behind…

END FLASHBACK

"You're saying… you're not the same Rebecca…?" Izuku questioned, quite confused by what his teary-eyed girlfriend was saying. She simply nodded her head.

"A few weeks after Camino, Mister Noah said I made a space-time jump into another universe where things played out like they did before… but with different results…" she told him.

"Wait…" he uttered, "What was different the first time?" he asked. Rebecca looked up at him.

"…You died…" she answered sadly.

Ochaco catches him in midair, followed by Kyoka plugging her earphone jacks into her amps to unleash a soundwave that tears through the ground. Mashirao and Tsuyu join in the fray, taking care of Orca's minions in the exercise.

During his ordeals, Katsuki starts thinking about what had happened with All Might back in Camino. He looks toward Izuku, who is running beside him, and then at Rebecca. He brushes his thoughts off for the moment, continuing onward.

We get a shot of Nero in his office with Ijuna, the League of Villains hiding out in a warehouse, Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai looking over a car fire, Kris finding the likes of Rogue Out, and Laguna meeting with the imposing figure of Goodwin. FLASHBACK

Rebecca's scream fell silent the moment she saw Drakken's blade plunge into Izuku's chest. All she could think of was trying to reverse the situation like she had done a few times before, but this time, it wasn't working. The markings at her legs weren't appearing at all.

"Heh…" the Oracion Seis member chuckled, tossing the impaled One For All inheritor aside as his bleeding body struck the wall and fell to the ground, landing upon his back as he gasped for air.

"IZU!" Rebecca shrieked in fright. Drakken then turned to her.

"This wouldn't have happened if you just behaved, Rebecca…" he pointed out, causing her to shiver, "But with him out of the way…" he continued with a wicked sneer, "I can finally get the Cat from you…" he noted as he shifted his arm into a large claw, about to grab her. All of a sudden though, something dropped down onto him from behind, being none other than Shiki as he slammed him against the ground hard.

"Shiki!" the Leaper Quirk user exclaimed.

"Rebecca, get outta here!" he insisted loudly, "I'll hold him off!" he promised, pressing the Oracion Seis member against the ground harder as he clenched his teeth. The ash blonde-haired girl ran past them, going over to her impaled boyfriend. Tears were flying out from her eyes all the while as she knelt down beside him.

"Izu… please…" she pleaded, "Just hang in there a little longer…!" she begged through sniffles. Weakly, Izuku looked up at her.

"Re…becca…" he managed to utter as blood continued to spill out from his body. He reached his right hand up to caress her cheek, while she kept whimpering. There was nothing she could do but hold onto her boyfriend's arm, praying that he would survive somehow.

Drakken managed to knock Shiki off of him, followed by exchanging a heavy punch with the Satan Gravity Quirk user as a shockwave erupted, shattering several windows in the vicinity. Shards scattered around Rebecca and Izuku, as the former wasn't even paying attention. She was too focused on her dying boyfriend.

"Rebecca…" he winced out, "You need to…" he tried to say, only to grimace from talking so loud. The Leaper Quirk user leaned her head down to hear what his dying voice was trying to tell her. And once she heard him, her eyes widened with shock.

"Magimech Attack…" Shiki started to bellow, rearing his left fist back just as Drakken was pulling back his right, "GRAVITY FIST!" he roared, colliding it with his foe again as they struggled to push each other back. The Oracion Seis member sneered before cackling.

"Guess I shouldn't be surprised since you're Ziggy's grandson!" he remarked before they both blew each other back. Shiki whipped his head around to see if Rebecca had gotten away just yet, but then widened his eyes. The Leaper Quirk user was knelt next to her boyfriend's body, which was unmoving. Tears were continuing to streak down her face as she looked up at the Satan Gravity Quirk user, who shook in disbelief.

"Izuku…?" he uttered out, while Drakken readied his arms as he morphed them into sharp blades.

"Now die," he said, thrusting his arms out. However, they suddenly stopped. The Oracion Seis member blinked in surprise, feeling his whole body grow heavy. The overwhelming pressure made him gasp for breath. He looked up to see Shiki turning around to face him, the green-glowing markings along his body expanding.

"You made my friend cry…" he growled out, gnashing his teeth together. The buildings next to them started shaking. The Alchemist Quirk user widened his eyes as they shook.

'There's no way…' he uttered inwardly, 'He's still just a kid…!' he pointed out through his thoughts. Shiki's appearance was changing. His hair went from black to white, both his arms were darkened with purple markings, and a pair of black horns with the same markings appeared out of his head. His clothing also changed into a sleeveless, high-collared tunic and his bandage was gone, revealing a small scar.

"TAKE THIS!" he roared, slamming his fist into Drakken's face as a purple energy engulfed it. Instantaneously, the Oracion Seis member was sent flying out of the alleyway, crashing several blocks away. The area had already been deserted as a result of the current conflict sending the people off in a panic.

"So that's a kid's Overdrive, huh…?" the Alchemist Quirk user assumed as he sat up, seemingly not noticing that Shiki was right above him, "Well, it's not stopping me…" he proclaimed, gritting his teeth. The Satan Gravity Quirk user shot down toward him, rearing his right fist back again.

"MAGIMECH ATTACK…" he started to bellow, "SUPER GRAVITY FIST!" he yelled, thrusting his extremity out. At the same time though, Drakken placed his hands against the street, making it glow brightly before a massive blast erupted, engulfing the area in smoke. He jumped out from it, chuckling.

"Guess I didn't need that pompous brat of Nero's after all…" he assumed with a huff. However, he was immediately proven wrong by Shiki zipping out from the smoke, slamming his left fist into his chest. "GUAH…!" he gasped out in agony. The glare upon the Satan Gravity Quirk user's face burned into him. He wasn't going to stop, not until his foe was defeated.

"Rebecca!" Kyoka cried out as she, Momo, Shoto and Homura hurried into the alley where the Leaper Quirk user was. They immediately stopped upon seeing her knelt beside her boyfriend's lifeless body. She was holding his right hand in her two, still in tears as she sniffled. Without a word, the Earphone Jack Quirk user went over to embrace her distraught friend.

"Midoriya…" Shoto uttered, letting off a grimace of frustration, while Homura lowered her head. Meanwhile, Momo looked around worriedly.

"Where's Shiki?" she asked.

"RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" the Satan Gravity Quirk user roared as he flew into an abandoned warehouse with Drakken in hand, slamming him fiercely against the floor.

"GAH…!" he yelped out. He managed to bring his feet up, kicking Shiki off of him as he landed on the floor, sliding to a stop. "You and your friends really are pieces of work, you know that…?" the Oracion Seis member grumbled out, standing back up, "That might be Overdrive, but it's not even close to the kind I've got…" he affirmed, making his blue markings expand all along his skin, "So just try and stop me, Shiki Granbell!" he challenged, lunging forward.

"…Okay," his opponent responded, holding his left hand out. All of a sudden, Drakken found himself completely stopped in midair, causing him to widen his eyes. He grimaced upon seeing his foe rear his left arm back, clenching it into a fist as a purple energy wafted off from it. "Ultimate Magimech Attack…" he began, throwing his fist forward and striking his target's face with it, "METEOR BREAKER!" he bellowed. The attack didn't send the Oracion Seis member flying, but caused him to transform back to normal as he fell over onto his back, barely conscious as his arms and legs were outstretched. As he tried to sit up, Shiki stomped his foot onto his chest, keeping him pinned as he grimaced. He looked up into his eyes, seeing the fierceness in his expression.

"What the hell are you…?" he questioned weakly. Tears flowed down the Satan Gravity Quirk user's face.

"I'm just a guy who doesn't wanna make his friends cry…" he answered. The whole warehouse collapsed around them. Drakken finally gave way and fell completely unconscious.

"Clear the way, everyone! Clear the way!" Jaguar yelled to shocked citizens, enticing them to move as he arrived on the scene alongside Feather and Cure. They all widened their eyes to see Shiki's appearance.

"Ziggy…?" Feather uttered out. Without warning, the Satan Gravity Quirk user flew off, leaving the defeated Oracion Seis member behind. In the meantime, All Might was able to best All For One, while Elsie escaped from James. Tonight was a huge victory for the heroes. Elsewhere, Eijiro, Katsuki, Tenya and Kleene wandered about, looking for the police.

"We gotta find a way to get in touch with the others," the former of the group insisted, "Iida, you still trying to phone Yaoyorozu?" he inquired of the class representative.

"Yes, just a moment," he responded, putting his smartphone up to his ear. As they tried to contact their classmates, Katsuki took notice of something projecting from one of the big screens upon the buildings in the area. He wasn't so much focused on the newscast as he was with the ticker on the bottom. The incoming headline read 'Teenage boy found dead in alley near All Might's battle'. Right away, warning signals were going off in the Explosion Quirk user's head. And they were confirmed the moment he looked toward Tenya, who had a mortified expression upon his face.

"…Is it Deku?" he asked of the class representative. He merely nodded. Izuku Midoriya was dead. Rebecca watched alongside her classmates as law enforcement went ahead and covered up his body with a blanket, veiling it from others' view.

The Leaper Quirk user did her best to remain composed as she and the others looked on, seeing her boyfriend's body be carried into one of the ambulances. She glanced down at her trembling fists, looking at her right one as it glowed slightly. Izuku's final words to her rang home.

'I want you… to take it…' he had requested, his dying voice still fresh in her mind. One For All had been transferred to her. And realizing that, she finally started wailing with dismay.

X

Drakken Joe and All For One were captured. The League of Villains was being intensely searched for. Things seemed well in spite of the losses. Yet a bleakness hung in the air.

It was a sunny, windy day as Rebecca and her classmates were gathered in the cemetery, dressed for the occasion as they watched the coffin carrying Izuku's body be lowered into the ground. All the Leaper Quirk could think about was what happened in those last few moments of his life. She had kissed him, ingesting some of his spit and blood to obtain One For All.

As the funeral proceeded, she looked over to the disheveled form of All Might, whose head was lowered with shame and anguish. It was his teachings that led his successor to his demise. That's what he believed.

Everyone paid their respects, exchanging hugs for comfort and giving people shoulders to cry on. Looking over at Katsuki, Rebecca could see that he was solemn over the situation as well. He may have not had the best relationship with his rival, but he never wanted him to actually lose his life.

Hours passed as people cleared out. The Leaper Quirk user was staying behind, even longer than Inko as she was a sobbing mess, needing to be led along by Witch. She looked back worriedly at the girl she raised, knowing how torn she was over everything. She stared at the mural of her dead boyfriend, seeing his nervous smile from the picture. She couldn't bring herself to smile. He was gone. And with that, Rebecca felt a huge hole in her heart. She didn't know if it would ever be filled again.

"You've stayed here for quite a while, Young Bluegarden…" All Might noted, getting her attention as she saw him approach.

"It's… hard to leave…" she admitted, trying her best not to break down yet again.

"I know…" the former pro hero agreed, lowering his gaze, "One For All is now gone…" he concluded solemnly, "And with it, I'm not sure Japan will survive, especially with the League still out there…" he confessed on. The Leaper Quirk user looked over to him in surprise. She wanted to tell him about what Izuku did… but was having second thoughts. Why did One For All have such a grasp on the hero world, at least in All Might's eyes? She let out a deep breath.

"All Might…" she began, making her teacher perk up, "I have something I need to tell you…" she said, showing him the glow coming off of her left fist, causing his eyes to widen in shock. From there, it was day after day of training for Rebecca. Along with trying to get a better grasp on her original Quirk, she was working on learning how to control One For All.

It wasn't too strenuous of a process thanks to what she remembered Izuku telling her about it in the past. She was able to control up to five percent of the Quirk, able to use it in tandem with her own. But she wasn't satisfied with that.

She would spend night after night in the gym, training to increase her output while also vying to obtain her Overdrive like Shiki did. Her classmates watched on worriedly as she left for the gym after they returned from classes for the day. She seemed so hyper-focused.

"Midoriya's death probably just motivated her to get better…" Minoru assumed.

"I don't know if that's truly the case…" Momo admitted out of concern, "There's a difference between training to get better and trying to rush things…" she noted.

"Yes…" Tenya agreed with a nod, "I'm worried that it's more of the latter with Bluegarden…" he pointed out.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" the Leaper Quirk user roared as she fiercely kicked at a concrete slab, shattering it. She winced however, but steeled herself as she continued to run about the gymnasium, striking whatever she could as All Might watched on. He grimaced upon seeing her like this. She wasn't her normal, bubbly self anymore. "SMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" she bellowed, punching at a concrete slab with her bare right fist, leaving behind a huge indentation.

Blood dripped from her knuckles, along with tears from her eyes. She was completely distraught. She would never be as good as her boyfriend, let alone All Might with the way she was now. She wasn't worthy.

"Young Bluegarden…" her teacher said as he approached, seeing her fall onto her knees, "Maybe we should stop for tonight…" he advised. She looked up at him, wiping her teary eyes.

"Yeah…" she agreed through a whimper. As she returned to the dorms that night, she noticed that everyone was gathered in the common room, about to watch a movie. Mina took notice of her arrival.

"Oh, hey Becca!" she greeted, getting her attention as she stopped, "We were just about to start one of those big superhero movies!" she pointed out, "You know, to get us pumped up for tomorrow's big test…" she mentioned.

"Can't believe it's almost four hours…" Weisz grumbled out.

"Is there a way we can skip some parts?" Toru wondered aloud, "I'm sure no one wants to sit through scenes that just drag on…" she muttered.

"Ah, we'll figure it out," Mina assured with a dismissive wave of her hand, "You wanna watch with us, Rebecca?" she offered to the Leaper Quirk user.

"…No thanks…" she responded, turning her head away, "I… really just need some rest…" she admitted, much to the surprise of her classmates as they saw her walk off without another word.

"Hey, Rebecca—" Kyoka's words was interrupted as Tenya put a hand onto her shoulder, shaking his head.

"Trying to talk to her now is only going to make things worse, I fear," he inferred, seeing her head onto the elevator.

"It's been two weeks, though…" Weisz pointed out.

"That isn't a very long time," Shoto argued.

"I never said it was!" the Machina Maker Quirk user retorted, "But wouldn't you think that she'd bounce back sooner?" he assumed of his classmates.

"Rebecca knew Midoriya longer than any of us…" Homura noted, "It's only natural that she feels that she's the one with most of the burden to bear…" she mentioned.

"And she's been working really hard in class, too…" Shiki added.

"Is it because she wants to get stronger for Midoriya's sake or something else?" Eijiro wondered aloud. Katsuki glanced toward the elevator as it had already left. He already had an idea as to why the Leaper Quirk was seemingly overworking herself. But he'd keep it to himself until the time was right.

Up on the third floor, Rebecca slowly opened her door into her room. She didn't even want to bother with a shower at this point. She just set her things down before plopping down face first onto her bed.

As she turned her head to the left, she noticed a framed picture on the dresser. It was her and Izuku, having taken place during their first date as someone was kind enough to take a snapshot of them. She reached over to grab it, getting a closer look. She and her former boyfriend were so happy from what she remembered.

But now, he was gone. Tears poured out from her eyes as she trembled. She couldn't bear the fact that Izuku was gone. The image of him getting impaled by Drakken was bad enough, but it was seeing him manage to smile before his death that really broke her.

"Izuku… I miss you…" she whimpered out. It seemed likely that she would never see him again. But at that moment, her wing-like markings suddenly appeared upon her ankles, the blue of them getting her attention. She looked down in confusion, wondering why her Quirk was activating so suddenly.

And then, she fell. She couldn't hear her own screams as she plummeted helplessly into what felt like an endless abyss. However, she was making out a few things around her. There were images of Izuku saving her in the midst of the escape from All For One and the League of Villains, the heroes' ambush on the Belial Gore, and Drakken threatening to kill Katsuki if she didn't comply with his demands. The whole space went white before she woke up in a cold sweat.

"Rebecca Bluegarden…" Drakken uttered out, getting her attention. Her eyes widened at the sight of the man in front of her. He gave her a small grin. "Welcome to the Belial Gore," he greeted, "I know this isn't exactly a place for kids, but I've wanted to meet you for the longest time," he told her. Her eyes darted around. She was in the villains' hideout. Katsuki was restrained, Kleene looked extremely distraught, and everyone else was staring at her with intrigue.

'What… just happened?' she wondered inwardly.

END FLASHBACK

X

Izuku's eyes were shaking. The whole explanation of things that had happened in Rebecca's perspective really shocked him. Especially with the part where she had witnessed his death.

"Mister Noah said that because I was so sad about you being gone… I traveled back to the point before the Camino incident happened…" she explained, "At least, that's what I thought it was…" she continued, causing him to blink in surprise, "It turns out, I'm just replacing the Rebecca that was here before… and leaving that other world without you behind…" she told him, tearing up as she lowered her head ashamedly, "I thought I saved you this time…!" she whimpered out, "But instead, I just abandoned everyone back in one world just to have a chance in another…" she confessed, "I'm… so sorry…" she apologized.

"Rebecca…" Izuku uttered out. He stepped forward and embraced her warmly. "If it wasn't for you, I probably would've died again like you said," he noted, "You've saved my life time after time," he pointed out, "The USJ, Shibuya, and Camino," he listed off, "To me, you're still the same Rebecca…" he assured, "The same one I…" he continued, only to stop him as he blinked in realization. The Cat Leaper Quirk user blinked in surprise, stepping back out of his embrace.

"The same one you… what?" she inquired. The One For All inheritor blushed a little as he looked away in embarrassment. However, he managed to steel himself as he grabbed his girlfriend by her shoulders.

"I love you… Rebecca," he confessed. Slowly, the Cat Leaper Quirk user's eyes widened. She had to take a moment to process what her boyfriend had just said. And once she did, she started crying. But she also smiled.

"I love you, too…" she whimpered out, managing to laugh a little. Izuku smiled himself, leaning in and closing his eyes to kiss her. She kissed back, cupping his cheeks with her hands. Her worries weren't gone, but the fact the One For All inheritor was there for her helped so much. As they broke their lips away from each other, they embraced warmly, ready to take on a new day tomorrow.

Insert "Backlight" by Ado

Opens with Class 1-A's girls hanging out in the common room of their Heights Alliance building. Rebecca finds herself totally bored until she realizes something, running off. She returns a moment later with her Switch in hand, along with four controllers. She, Homura, Tsuyu and Ochaco are the first ones to start playing, though the Soul Blade Quirk user is initially holding her controller upside down.

They play a racing game to start things off, with the scene changing to show chibi forms of the girls driving in their karts. Homura slips on a banana peel and spins out, while Tsuyu gets hit by a green shell. Ochaco and Rebecca are neck-and-neck as they approach the finish line, and the Zero Gravity Quirk user wins by a hair.

After a brief celebration, the girls switch to a dancing game, where Mina, Toru, Kyoka and Momo compete. We again shift to a fantasy where the girls are dressed like dancers on a stage. Everyone's surprised by how good of a dancer the Acid Quirk user is, cheering her on excitedly. As the games continue, the boys enter the common area to find them playing.

Next up is a multiplayer first-person shooter that Rebecca, Weisz, Izuku, and Shoto start playing. We see that in the fantasy sequence, the Cat Leaper Quirk user has the best shot amongst her peers, even beating out Weisz. Afterwards, Hanta brings down four more controllers so that more people can play.

And so, it comes down to a fighter game, in which Izuku, Katsuki, Eijiro, Tenya, Homura, Momo, Shoto and Shiki play. Not knowing the controls, Tenya's character can only move like a robot before getting knocked off by Katsuki. Eijiro withstands Homura's blows until she's tired out, landing a finishing punch. Momo is hesitant to battle against Shiki, so she just falls off the edge of the stage as everyone looks to her in confusion in reality.

Katsuki's character bests Shiki, while Izuku manages to defeat Eijiro. The two face off against each other, exchanging blows before ultimately, Izuku wins. The class cheers excitedly, while Katsuki scoffs, though isn't as annoyed over losing.

The rest of the day continues with Denki and Hanta playing a golfing game, Minoru and Tsuyu facing off in a MOBA to everyone's surprise, Mezo and Koji enjoying a relaxing simulation game, and Yuga trying to sing in a karaoke game, only to make everyone flinch from the sound of his falsetto. As Shota and All Might wander in to check on the class, they smile to see Rebecca and Kyoka playing together as a team in a two-person fighter. They imagine themselves in their hero costumes, fighting against a villain as they charge in…

END ENDING

And that concludes a very emotional chapter! Honestly, I've always thought that Mashima didn't thoroughly explore Rebecca's abilities, at least the implications of them. The idea of not only traveling through time, but through universes really would be a traumatic experience, especially considering that Rebecca didn't really prevent certain events from playing out. She just switched from world to world whenever an event didn't go the way she would've hoped.

Anyways, that about wraps that chapter up! We've got four more left before the big 100 to close out Season 3! Have an awesome day, everybody!
