Welcome back to "Through the Rough", everyone! Last time we left off, we learned the truth about Rebecca's Quirk and how she used it to save Izuku from his demise in one universe after consciously departing from another. But now the question becomes, what will come of this ordeal?
For now, it's time for her to deal with being on house arrest alongside Izuku and Katsuki! Can she handle being put up with chores herself? Well, let's find out!
THROUGH THE ROUGH
"A fight?!" Ochaco and Toru exclaimed the moment they learned why Izuku, Katsuki and Rebecca were up and vacuuming the common room, not dressed in their uniforms.
"Yeah, Bakugo said they're all on house arrest for the next couple of days…" Eijiro told them.
"Bastard's probably the one who started all this…" Kyoka growled out.
"Ah, hey…" Denki chimed in, trying to get her to calm down.
"Well, I suppose that means you won't be attending the opening ceremony for the semester with us…" Tenya realized.
"No, sorry…" Izuku apologized upon overhearing, "We'll have this place spotless by the time you get back," he assured to his classmates with a smile.
"Thanks, Izuku!" Shiki exclaimed gratefully, "Now let's go!" he yelled with excitement, bolting out through the doors.
"Granbell, slow down!" Tenya yelled as he and the rest of the class followed. Kyoka took a moment to shoot a glare toward Katsuki, which he merely scoffed at. Meanwhile, Rebecca waved goodbye to her classmates, giving off a sheepish grin. It was a bit humiliating, but also endearing considering the fact that she was getting the time to clean alongside her boyfriend. They glanced over to each other and smiled.
"Ugh…" Katsuki groaned out, "Can you lovebirds wait to eye-fuck until after we're done in here?" he inquired of them.
"HEY!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user shouted, while Izuku blushed a bright red.
"You two have a couple days to kill together…" the Explosion Quirk user pointed out, ignoring the anger building in Rebecca's face, "Why not spend that time doing couple things, huh?" he suggested.
"We can't really do much while we're on house arrest…" the One For All inheritor retorted to his rival's chagrin.
"And you two need to make sure you don't overwork yourselves after last night…" the Cat Leaper Quirk user mentioned, "In fact, why don't you guys take a break after we finish vacuuming here?" she offered.
"A-Are you sure?" Izuku stammered out, earning a nod in response from his girlfriend.
"I didn't even get hurt last night, so it's only fair that I get more of a workout than you two," she noted, "Plus, it gives you time to focus on writing those apology letters to Mister Aizawa," she added with a grin.
"Yeah, good point…" her boyfriend agreed.
"Tch…" Katsuki scoffed. It wasn't long before vacuuming was completed, leaving Rebecca to be the one to clean up the rest of the common room. Dusting windowsills, wiping down tables, taking out bags of trash, she was hurriedly doing everything she needed to. At that moment though, she heard the door open.
"Ah, Young Bluegarden," All Might greeted as he entered, causing her to turn and see him there.
"Hi, All Might," she responded, "Here to check up on Izu and Kacchan?" she assumed as she put down her brush and dustpan, "They're upstairs working on their apology letters or… training, I think…" she told him.
"Actually, I came by to check on you," he admitted to her surprise, "I actually got in contact with Glenfield this morning," he mentioned, "He told me more about your situation with Cat Leaper," he said, causing Rebecca to grimace a little as she looked away, "Young Bluegarden…" the former hero uttered worriedly.
"I'm okay," she assured, "Izu helped me see that I ended up saving him in the end…" she pointed out, "so I'm thankful for that at least," she confessed with a small smile.
"There's… something else I wanted to discuss…" All Might added, making her blink in surprise, "In that previous universe… you carried One For All in the wake of Young Midoriya's death, didn't you?" he guessed, causing her eyes to widen, "Since your return, you haven't felt any signs of that power still in you, right?" he inquired.
"Uh, no…" Rebecca answered, looking down at her hands, "I mean… I don't really feel like I have your Quirk anymore…" she told him.
"Hmm…" All Might hummed, putting his right hand onto his chin "Considering that Glenfield said you traveled through time and space to come to this point, perhaps it is as if you never inherited One For All as intended…" he inferred thoroughly, "I'll be keeping a close eye on you as well, if you don't mind," he mentioned, "Your Quirk may come in handy for Young Midoriya," he pointed out with a grin. Rebecca giggled.
"Yeah, I know," she agreed. Her teacher's questions did have her pondering certain things. If she traveled through time and space from when she had One For All in her possession, did she still have some remnants of it lurking within her? For now, she'd have to put those thoughts aside. Because there was still a lot for her to do…
OPENING
Insert "New Genesis" by Ado
Opens with Rebecca dressed in her hero costume, with her hair now in pigtails as she looks toward the dawning sky. The wind waves through her hair before she looks back and smiles to see the rest of Class 1-A, with her boyfriend standing at the front as he smiles. The title logo comes on screen.
As the music picks up, we get shots of each member of Class 1-A in training, thinking about their battles in the U.S.J., the Sports Festival, the hero killer attack in Hosu, the Müller raid in Shibuya, the final exams of the first semester, the forest training camp attack, and the incident in Camino. Everyone's motivating each other as they prepare to enter the next phase in order to become heroes. They all stand outside an exam center together, having determined looks on their faces.
There are several scenes of Homura drawing her energy blades to block off rubber balls being sent towards her, Denki, and Momo, Minoru unleashing a barrage of his sticky balls to trap opponents, and Fumikage releasing Dark Shadow as it covers him like armor. We see Weisz equip his Arsenal armor as he speeds past everyone alongside Tenya and Izuku. However, they're brought to a halt as the wind picks up around them.
They look to see that it's courtesy of Inasa Yoarashi, whose grin is wide until he spots Shoto through the crowd, making him glare with contempt. Other Shiketsu students are on the scene, including the likes of Milani Lucra, Nasseh Saimin, Lyra Dekki, and Callum Steelford. There's also students from Ketsubutsu Academy, which also includes the likes of Orc, Mora, and Britney.
We watch as Rebecca finds herself forced into battle against Britney, running around from her smoky form while using her new pulse blasters to try and throw her off. Orc confronts Izuku, while Mora locates Katsuki. The three U.A. students fight on with all their effort.
Meanwhile, Shiki has his green markings expand as he flies across a ruined battlefield to confront Gang Orca, who blows him back with a sonic blast. Ochaco catches him in midair, followed by Kyoka plugging her earphone jacks into her amps to unleash a soundwave that tears through the ground. Mashirao and Tsuyu join in the fray, taking care of Orca's minions in the exercise.
During his ordeals, Katsuki starts thinking about what had happened with All Might back in Camino. He looks toward Izuku, who is running beside him, and then at Rebecca. He brushes his thoughts off for the moment, continuing onward.
We get a shot of Nero in his office with Ijuna, the League of Villains hiding out in a warehouse, Overhaul and the Shie Hassaikai looking over a car fire, Kris finding the likes of Rogue Out, and Laguna meeting with the imposing figure of Goodwin. The song winds down as Rebecca brushes her back and smiles toward the horizon with her boyfriend. Their classmates all stand behind them, ready to become heroes.
END OPENING
"Okay, I can kinda get why Midoriya got thrown in the mix since he punched back, but Bluegarden?!" Kyoka exclaimed in the classroom, "Like what the hell?! What'd she even do?!" she inquired on emphatically.
"Well, if she didn't actually try to stop the fight from happening and just watched, I don't think that'd make things any better…" Tsuyu answered, putting a finger upon her chin.
"And perhaps she may have attacked Bakugo for harming Midoriya," Homura mentioned.
"You think it should just be Bakugo on house arrest?" Hanta asked of Mashirao.
"I don't know…" he admitted in reply with a shake of his head, "It seems like he and Midoriya always get themselves into trouble…" he noted aloud.
"Midoriya more often than not…" Minoru chimed in.
"We shouldn't worry about it right now," Mezo insisted, "I'm still surprised that all of Class B passed their exam…" he confessed, changing the subject.
"Considering all we had to go through, it should've been just as hard for them, too," Eijiro pointed out.
"I'm sorry, everyone…" Shoto apologized upon overhearing.
"D-Don't apologize, dude!" the Hardening Quirk user insisted with a stutter.
"Yeah, it's just dumb luck that all of Class B managed to pass at all!" Denki proclaimed, while Mezo sighed deeply, putting his right hand onto his face.
"I'm more curious about those work studies Principal Nezu mentioned during the ceremony," Tsuyu noted, garnering the attentions of her classmates, "Do you think Mister Aizawa will bring it up?" she inquired of the others.
"I will be," their teacher answered, having just entered, "Take your seats," he advised. As the class got organized, the Erasure Quirk user went up to the podium. The work studies were considered a more formalized version of the internships that the students participated in before, meaning that the students would be working off-campus with pros as temporary sidekicks.
"Wait a sec…" Shiki uttered, raising his right hand, "so if we were gonna get to do these work study things all along, then what was the point of the Sports Festival?" he asked curiously. Everyone looked to him in shock for making such an observation. Even Shota seemed a little impressed.
"The Sports Festival had the purpose of helping you garner connections in the first place with pros," he explained, "Using those connections, you have the opportunity to participate in these work studies," he told the class, "Nowadays, it's up to students as to where they'd feel like participating," he said.
"Alright!" Eijiro exclaimed excitedly, "We get to really dive into things, huh?" he assumed.
"Sounds like it…" Weisz replied.
"I'll explain more later, but in the coming days, your teachers and I will decide on how to best proceed with the work studies," Shota told the students, "But for now, I'll hand things over to Mic," he said, allowing for the door to slide open as Hizashi walked in.
"AW YEAH! FIRST PERIOD IS ENGLISH!" he exclaimed excitedly. Near the back of the room, Homura looked over at Shoto worriedly. The failure of the licensing exam was weighing hard on him, especially in the wake of Class B passing completely. But now wasn't the time to dwell. It was the start of a new semester. And hopefully with it, new opportunities.

"Phew…" Rebecca exhaled, having finished with cleaning the whole common room as she wiped the sweat off of her brow, "Guess now's an okay time for some R-and-R…" she realized, letting out a long yawn. She had stayed up later than intended, no thanks to what happened last night. But she was feeling pretty peppy all the same.
She returned to her room, grabbing her soap, shampoo, and towel before heading down to the bathroom, ready to relax in the bath for a little while. Shota's punishments weren't as harsh as she imagined them being. Cleaning wasn't too much trouble and writing an apology letter would be fairly simple, especially in her case since most of her involvement was her trying not to stop Izuku and Katsuki's fight.
Those content thoughts followed her as she hummed to the bath, entering without a care. She set down her soap, shampoo, and towel, followed by grabbing the hem of her tank top to pull it up over her head to unveil her green-and-white-striped bra. She was about to unclasp it until she looked forward… and saw her boyfriend there.
"A-Ah…" he stammered out, going red in the face. Though that was nothing compared to his girlfriend, whose head was steaming.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" they both screamed, just as Katsuki had wandered into the common space, seeing if there was anything left that needed to be cleaned up.
"The hell…?" he uttered in confusion. He then saw Rebecca burst out from the boys' side of the baths, still red in the face as she carried her things, including her discarded tank top.
"Sorry, sorry!" she apologized repeatedly, "I should've looked at where I was going!" she exclaimed, hurrying into the girls' bath.
"I-I-It's okay…" Izuku stammered as he stumbled out, having his hands over his eyes to keep himself from looking at anything he shouldn't, "It was… just an accident…" he pointed out, taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
"Ugh…" Katsuki groaned out, causing him to open his eyes to see his rival standing right in front of him.
"K-Kacchan!" he stuttered in surprise.
"While your girlfriend washes up, let's do some work," he insisted, turning around and walking off, "Knowing her, she probably messed up somewhere…" he inferred, looking around for any mess in particular.
"She doesn't mess up, Kacchan…" Izuku argued as he joined him. Meanwhile, his girlfriend was still a blushing mess as she washed herself up, soaping her arms and legs before rinsing herself off, followed by stepping into and sitting down in the bath.
"Huh…" she sighed with relief. After that whole debacle, she was glad that it wasn't worse. But it did leave her a lot to think about.
'Izu and I are a lot closer than before thanks to the dorms…' she pointed out inwardly, 'What happens if I walk in on him at a bad time? Or if he walks in on me?' she wondered on as her cheeks burned red. She smacked them to recompose herself. 'I really need to calm down…' she insisted of herself, 'Besides, I gotta write that letter by tomorrow…' she noted inwardly.
Later that evening, she returned to the common room dressed in a new set of clothes, finding that the rest of the class had returned from their studies for the day. Katsuki and Izuku were bickering over taking out the trash, as there was still quite a bit left from the kitchen. The Cat Leaper Quirk user sighed with a smile. She was at least happy that they weren't fighting like usual.
"Hello Bluegarden," Tenya greeted, getting her attention as she saw the class representative approach.
"Oh, hey Tenya," she replied, turning to face him, "What'd you guys learn in class today?" she asked curiously.
"I'm afraid I can't disclose those details," the Engine Quirk user responded, "Mister Aizawa and the others were very clear on making sure as part of your punishment, you, Midoriya and Bakugo weren't to know about anything we learn," he explained thoroughly.
"Wait, what?!" Izuku exclaimed in question.
"Tsk…" Katsuki scoffed, gathering up more of the trash.
"Wait, Mister Aizawa never told us anything like that!" Rebecca pointed out frantically.
"Well, you should've presumed such considering the circumstances you've gotten yourself in, house arrests," Tenya retorted with his hands at his hips.
"Hey, don't call us that!" the One For All inheritor whined.
"Ugh, whatever…" the Explosion Quirk user grumbled.
"Lighten up on Rebecca and Midoriya, Iida," Kyoka chimed in insistently, "They're not the ones who started this shit…" she pointed out, glaring at Katsuki.
"Kyoka…" the Cat Leaper Quirk user uttered out in surprise.
"Now, now…" Momo repeated as she ventured over, "there's no reason to start a fight over this…" she advised, putting her hands onto the Earphone Jack Quirk user's shoulders to calm her down, "Yes, you three are still punished for your actions…" she noted, "but we can still do things like movie nights and the like with you," she affirmed with a smile.
"I guess that's true…" Izuku noted, "Though… it's still a school week…" he pointed out additionally, "We wouldn't wanna get in the way of you all studying…" he mentioned, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"I agree," Tenya responded, "It seems you're handling this maturely, Midoriya," he said, "You'd do well to do the same, Bakugo," he advised of the Explosion Quirk user.
"Ugh… whatever, four-eyes…" he grumbled, "So, who's taking out the trash while I sweep up here?" he inquired, looking over to Izuku and Rebecca. A little while later, the Cat Leaper Quirk user was washing dishes as dinner had come and passed. She figured she'd take on as much of the labor today, then write her apology letter tomorrow.
As she finished drying plates and setting them onto the nearby rack on the counter, she then noticed another bag of trash lying about. Rolling her eyes, she went ahead and grabbed it, heading outside as the sun was setting. She brought it to the garbage dump, throwing it into the dumpster. She smirked, wiping her hands against each other before starting to head back. However, she then felt the presence of a familiar wind. She blinked in surprise, looking out towards the woods.
Within them, Kleene had energy markings along her face and arms as the air swirled around her, lifting her up from the ground. She was dressed in her P.E. clothes, having her hair down as it waved with the wind. Rebecca approached, widening her eyes slightly to see the wind glow a bright green as the Wind Snatch Quirk user attempted to have it contort, drawing in a few leaves from the nearby shrubbery. She clenched her teeth, trying to even uproot a few trees. Unfortunately, the wind wasn't strong enough as she ultimately stopped, landing upon the ground on her feet and breathing heavily.
"Kleene?" the Cat Leaper Quirk user said, getting her attention as she perked up to find her there.
"Rebecca…" she uttered, letting off a little smile.
"You seem to be working hard," the ash blonde-haired girl pointed out.
"Mm-hmm," the Wind Snatch Quirk user responded with a nod, "Even though I was lucky enough to come back to UA, be reunited with my classmates, and get my provisional license…" she listed off, "I still need to get stronger," she affirmed, closing her hands into fists.
"I feel the same way," Rebecca agreed, sharing a giggle with Kleene. After a moment, the green-haired girl lowered her head in thought.
"Have you heard the rumors circling recently?" she asked of the Cat Leaper Quirk user.
"Rumors?" she repeated in question, earning a nod in response from her fellow student hero.
"Before my brother and I were taken in by Drakken, there was a mercenary group that he became a part of," she recalled, much to Rebecca's surprise, "Kris made as much as he could from it, even if it meant hurting people…" she mentioned, trembling a little, "He just wanted me to live a fulfilling life after our parents were killed…" she said, lowering her head.
"Kleene…" the Cat Leaper Quirk user uttered.
"The mercenary group's name is Rouge Out," the Wind Snatch Quirk user told her, "I've mentioned it to the police, but they've yet to uncover anything," she remembered, "Honestly, I hope I'm wrong…" she confessed, "I want my brother to come back with me…" she whimpered out.
"And he will," Rebecca assured, bringing her into a hug, "I've got no doubt about that," she remarked confidently, earning a laugh out of Kleene before she embraced her as well, sniffling a little. There was a lot going on to start the second semester. And more was to come…

"And… done!" the Cat Leaper Quirk user exclaimed, having just finished her formal apology letter that she would turn in to her teacher later today. She was in her room, smiling contently with how thoroughly and quickly she managed to get her assignment done. In fact, she was ready to celebrate with a round of video games. But then, the buzz of her phone caught her attention. She grabbed it, seeing the notification.
Izu: Can you come help us out down here? Kacchan's being difficult again…
"Seriously?" Rebecca grumbled out, quickly typing up a reply.
Becca: be right there
The Cat Leaper Quirk user disembarked from the elevator moments later, heading into the common space. She immediately found that both Izuku and Katsuki were standing over what looked to be a stain on the carpet. She arched an eyebrow.
"Uh… what's the problem?" she asked.
"Some idiot spilled juice or whatever on the damn thing…" the Explosion Quirk user answered.
"And the stain remover's not working, so I was gonna ask Mister Aizawa if we should try to get something stronger," Izuku explained on.
"I say we just trash the damn carpet and get a new one…" Katsuki grumbled.
"Kacchan, we don't know how expensive these are!" his rival argued, "Either way, we shouldn't do anything without asking Mister Aizawa first," he insisted firmly.
"Well, how the hell are we gonna ask when we're stuck in the dorms, moron?!" he questioned angrily. As they bickered, Rebecca let out a sigh.
"I was gonna turn in my written apology later today," she noted to the boys, getting their attentions, "I'll ask for you two," she decided, "In the meantime, just focus on cleaning up everything else," she advised.
"Yeah, that sounds okay," her boyfriend agreed, while the Explosion Quirk user scoffed.
"I'm gonna deal with stuff in the kitchen…" he muttered, standing up and trudging off with his hands in his pockets, "You can handle the rest here, Deku…" he said.
"Sure thing," his rival replied, pushing himself up as well. He then looked over to his girlfriend, who shot him a smile. A nervous expression came across his face as he glanced off to the side.
"What's wrong?" Rebecca asked, raising an eyebrow in concern.
"So… uh…" her boyfriend began, scratching his left cheek, "Kacchan likes you, huh?" he noted, making her blink in surprise before she blushed.
"Well… I don't know if he always liked me…" she responded, "If anything, he at least respects me as a person now…" she pointed out, sharing a chuckle with Izuku.
"You wanna help us with the rest of this?" he offered to her.
"Sure!" she replied with a bright smile. From the kitchen, Katsuki watched the couple work together with a disdainful expression. He sighed, going back to cleaning the countertop.
Later that day, Rebecca was able to meet with Shota, providing him with her written apology. She felt as if she was standing there for an eternity with how slowly his eyes were scanning the two pages she wrote up. He then exhaled a deep breath.
"I'll be seeing you in class tomorrow, Bluegarden," he confirmed, much to her relief as she sighed, "I'm sure you know that you've already got a lot of catching up to do," he pointed out.
"Yeah, I know," the Cat Leaper Quirk user responded, clenching her fists determinedly, "I'll go Plus Ultra starting tomorrow!" she declared firmly. And with that, her return to the classroom was imminent…

Insert "Backlight" by Ado
Opens with Class 1-A's girls hanging out in the common room of their Heights Alliance building. Rebecca finds herself totally bored until she realizes something, running off. She returns a moment later with her Switch in hand, along with four controllers. She, Homura, Tsuyu and Ochaco are the first ones to start playing, though the Soul Blade Quirk user is initially holding her controller upside down.
They play a racing game to start things off, with the scene changing to show chibi forms of the girls driving in their karts. Homura slips on a banana peel and spins out, while Tsuyu gets hit by a green shell. Ochaco and Rebecca are neck-and-neck as they approach the finish line, and the Zero Gravity Quirk user wins by a hair.
After a brief celebration, the girls switch to a dancing game, where Mina, Toru, Kyoka and Momo compete. We again shift to a fantasy where the girls are dressed like dancers on a stage. Everyone's surprised by how good of a dancer the Acid Quirk user is, cheering her on excitedly. As the games continue, the boys enter the common area to find them playing.
Next up is a multiplayer first-person shooter that Rebecca, Weisz, Izuku, and Shoto start playing. We see that in the fantasy sequence, the Cat Leaper Quirk user has the best shot amongst her peers, even beating out Weisz. Afterwards, Hanta brings down four more controllers so that more people can play.
And so, it comes down to a fighter game, in which Izuku, Katsuki, Eijiro, Tenya, Homura, Momo, Shoto and Shiki play. Not knowing the controls, Tenya's character can only move like a robot before getting knocked off by Katsuki. Eijiro withstands Homura's blows until she's tired out, landing a finishing punch. Momo is hesitant to battle against Shiki, so she just falls off the edge of the stage as everyone looks to her in confusion in reality.
Katsuki's character bests Shiki, while Izuku manages to defeat Eijiro. The two face off against each other, exchanging blows before ultimately, Izuku wins. The class cheers excitedly, while Katsuki scoffs, though isn't as annoyed over losing.
The rest of the day continues with Denki and Hanta playing a golfing game, Minoru and Tsuyu facing off in a MOBA to everyone's surprise, Mezo and Koji enjoying a relaxing simulation game, and Yuga trying to sing in a karaoke game, only to make everyone flinch from the sound of his falsetto. As Shota and All Might wander in to check on the class, they smile to see Rebecca and Kyoka playing together as a team in a two-person fighter. They imagine themselves in their hero costumes, fighting against a villain as they charge in…
END ENDING
Another brief chapter! Not too much to say other than that we'll be focusing on Rebecca's return to Class 1-A for the day, along with some other interesting tidbits. Safe to say we're gearing up for a fun season finale in the next couple of weeks!
Thanks for reading, everyone! Take care!
