Chapter 68

Rampage on Kielseki

The Gra Valkas Imperial Army, 1st Army Group Central Invasion, 1100 Hours

"We're almost reaching Kielseki on schedule."

The 1st Army Group Central Invasion, with at least eight thousand tanks, fifty thousand armored vehicles, and a million infantries, mobilized through the Kielseki Plains. They were now two hundred kilometers away from Kielseki. They plan to rest for one night and then commence the assault the following morning.

"I think the Air Force won't leave anything valuable to us to take."

"Haha, yeah. But that would make our job easier in entering the town."

Should the Gra Valkas Empire occupy Kielseki, they could control the southern railway network, allowing them to make a fast mobilization to the south to capture Mykal with the assistance of Gra Valkas Imperial Navy. However, the recent defeat by the Ishtam Fleet makes the higher-ups reconsider the plan.

Major General Borg looks at the intelligence information at Kielseki. With a population of at least two million, it's definitely worth being one of the Mu's major towns close to the western border.

The snipers were in position, and the airspace was clear of hostile when the Prowler Recon Alpha Company, led by Faira Desirae, arrived on the scene after the Raid on Valkyries Base earlier.

"Magnifier here. The sky is clear of hostiles, and I've notified Mu aircraft to return on high-altitude to prevent chaos on Gra Valkas Imperial Invasion group."

"Thank you, Commander. Inform the 10th Gunbounder Regiment to prepare to fire their weapons."

"Yes, Ma'am."

Hamlin 4th Company

The Gra Valkas Infantries were inspecting the wreckage of the capsized truck, and they got difficulty inspecting what was left inside it.

"Why this thing didn't have the door lever?"

"Is it the technology that Celestina owned? We can't find any lever to open it."

"We need to get some tanks to bring it back up and tow it back to Leifor for Information Bureau to investigate."

"Let's pry open this door."

As they were about to use a wrench to force open the door, it suddenly exploded without warning, killing soldiers surrounding the door.

"W-what the!?"

Several men were floating out from the truck, staring at them with a cold gaze. A man wearing a dark raincoat with a pulled-up mask and a hood looks at them. He held an anti-tank rifle in his right hand.

"You want it? Then come over here and take it!"

Aiming the Anti-Tank Rifle to the Hotchkiss Tank, the sniper shot an instant kill when the bullet hit the tank. The attack surprises the Gra Valkas Imperial Army, as the soldiers were speechless when several snipers scored a kill on their tanks. Other snipers also follow suit, with several tanks and vehicles being destroyed in one hit.

"Shoot them!"

Ratatatatatatata

The snipers take some evasive action until the man with a dark raincoat has its shield down, groaning in pain.

"He's wounded! Get him!"

As Marcus makes a temporary retreat, the other snipers follow him, throwing a grenade that pops red smoke.

"You're clear to proceed!"

10th Gunbounder Regiment, 8km from the capsized truck

Feena is looking at the 10th Gunbounder Regiment finishing their preparations to commence the artillery bombardment.

"Three stacks of Dual Ability. Expect recharging up to ten minutes before we can take another shot."

"Yes, Ma'am."

"The target is as follows: Armour and Kalsiddon would target enemy tanks, Bigfoot would conduct a heavy suppression fire, and Lighting to fry the infantries. Both Armour and Kalsiddon would use the 2nd Shot, Bigfoot would use the 1st Shot, and Lighting would use the 2nd Shot. Don't overlap the targets on each other except for Bigfoot and Lightning."

"Target confirmed!"

"Fire at will!"

A green-red bubble popped three times before the attack commenced, and when the preparation was complete, the 10th Gunbounder Regiment charged their power and began unleashing their arsenals. The Armour releases eight shots of armor-piercing shells, Kalsiddon releases eight submunition canisters and a green dot, which each canister disperses into four missiles, pursuing the green dot. The Lighting fires its large lighting ball eight times, and BigFoot fires eight rockets in two waves eight times.

General Mick saw multiple projectiles were heading towards the Gra Valkas Imperial Army Group. Celestina would deploy behind the Gra Valkas Imperial line, aiming to cut off their retreat. Somehow he felt some pity that Mu couldn't participate in this battle on the front lines.

"General Mick. Were your units in position according to plan?"

"Yes. They're awaiting orders for deployment area."

"Excellent. As soon as the first barrage arrives, we would send them to the rear line to cut off their retreat. Since Mu were eager to fight, it's best to deploy them to cut off their retreat."

Feena already expected that Mu would want a piece of the action. So Feena chooses to deploy them to cut off the retreat path.

Kielseki Plains

"Fuck! Those snipers were taking cover behind the truck!"

"Destroy it!"

Panzer-IV tank fires its rounds, creating a small hole in the truck. Celestina didn't make the truck sturdy, but at least it can resist one Armor Piercing round before another AP round can penetrate it. Some soldiers noticed projectiles coming from the sky when they were about to charge in.

"W-what was that!?"

"Incoming!"

The first to land is BigFoot's rocket, followed by Armour's Armor Piercing shells, Kalsiddon missiles, and Lightning's Lightning Ball.

"GYAAA!"

"W-what the hell!?"

"Uwaaahhh!"

"Someone! Help me!"

When the people of Kielseki witness it through a live stream featured by Celestina in the holographic projection on the town square, they can feel the horrors of the war. Some have their body parts tossed away by an explosion, and some are electrocuted when the lightning ball impacts the ground within a radius of five meters.

For the tanks, the Armour's Armor Piercing shell pierces through its top armor, instantly killing the crew and disabling the tank. For Kalsiddon, the first and second missile destroys the top armor, and the third and fourth missile kill the tank crew inside-out.

The bombardment stops after a minute, and Major General Borg quickly looks at the battlefield. He's enraged since many vehicles and tanks were destroyed by the 10th Gunbounder Regiment and dead bodies scattered around the plains.

"They're just a bunch of artillery! Push through!"

"Sir! More contact! We've got two tanks!"

"Just two tanks!? Then destroy them, you motherfucker!"

What Borg saw was Celestina's state-of-the-art Mammoth Tank that has been modified to be crewed by only one person. A dual-barreled tank with missile pods was charging to the battlefield.

"They thought they could only defend Kielseki with two tanks! Destroy them!"

Aboard Mammoth Tank

"Mother Unit. We have them in our sights."

"Copy that, Doctor Mechanic. Let's contest which one of us would score more kills."

"You two. I have to remind you that we only deploy these few because you both want to take them head-on. Try not to get yourself killed."

"Yes, Tech Smith!"

Tech Smith is a military call sign for Feena Minazuki, the Grand Duchess of Studia. Yuuna Caskett's call sign was Mother Unit, while Izumi Mahigashi's call sign was Doctor Mechanic.

"Let's begin the party!"

"Fire!"

BOOM! BOOM!

A Panther was destroyed by a single shot from Yuuna's tank, while Izumi destroyed a Pershing Tank with a single shot. While the first barrel reloads, the second barrel fire towards the next target, destroying it instantly.

THUNK! THUNK!

"Hm? That barely tickles."

The shot comes from Tiger I's shell that was hitting the armor head-on made the tank flare up its shields, while the shell that was grazing the slanted armor bounced.

"Oh, you want some more?"

Izumi launches two missiles from both sides, dispersing into smaller missiles and raining down upon the Gra Valkas Imperial Army.

Captain Marcus and his men come out from cover, aiming their snipers at the Gra Valkas Imperial Army.

"Pick your target and fire!"

Kielseki Plains

"Charge!"

The Gra Valkas Imperial Army charges, firing a heavy suppression fire to the Mammoth Tank, but their tanks are obliterated one after another when advancing. Some tanks and infantry use the gap on the sides to slip through Mammoth Tanks to continue pushing, and some plan to attack the Mammoth Tank from behind.

"They have strange artillery!"

"They're still reloading! Cha-!"

SPLAT!

"W-what!?"

SPLAT! SPLAT! CLANK!

All of a sudden, multiple tanks and vehicles were disabled. Infantries killed in a headshot have their upper body explode due to high velocity from the sniper.

"S-Sniper!"

"It can't be! There were supposed to be the only sniper in the central line!"

"We have another sniper in another direction as well?"

"We're dead if we didn't get the hell out of here!"

Even though the Infantries were taking cover, no one could escape from snipers. It is as Celestina knew where they were exactly hiding.

On the side of the hill, a moment when the Gra Valkas began to encircle the Mammoth Tank, Cecilia nocked the arrow and chanted several spells.

"Wind Guidance! Sharp Shooting! Wind Walk! Wind Tunnel! Aimed Bolt!"

Releasing the arrow, it travels at Mach 35 from 30 kilometers away, and it scores five kills to the infantries that were in the line of her shot.

"Fire!"

BAM! BAM! BAM!

The snipers began to chant some spells before firing their weapons. Every shot kills infantries, vehicles, and armors on the field. Some of the command trucks could not escape such an attack commenced by the snipers when they fired their weapons. Snipers marked every potential target, and they had to be careful as the bullet ricochet could hit other snipers on the other side of the hill. Since the bullet can travel fast from Mach 25, the possibility of friendly fire is high.

The infantries were blown to pieces by a depleted uranium round fired by a Special Assault Armor outside Ballista-type SAA. Vehicles and tanks were knocked out and destroyed by a ferric tungsten round fired by a Ballista-type SAA and Ballista Tank.

The ferric tungsten and depleted uranium round for ground operations were made exclusively for any Sniper-type Special Assault Armor and Tank, such as Ballista-Type SAA, Valme Jaeger SAA, Ballista Tank, and Judgment-class SAA. So far, Celestina has begun researching both bullet types used for other combat operations, and they show a promising result.

10th Gunbounder Regiment

"Next wave of attack is ready, Ma'am!"

"Alright. BigFoot and Lighting will remain in the 1st shot mode and for both Kalsiddon and Armour, switch to 1st shot mode. We will maintain the Three Dual Ability as before. This time, shoot further to the back to box them in."

"Yes, Ma'am!"

They enhanced their respective vehicle with three sets of Dual Ability, and the vehicle began charging power once the preparation was complete.

"Let the Snipers handle the vehicles. Our focus right now is to bog those infantries down."

"Target is set, Ma'am!"

Firing in unison, the rockets, missiles, shells, and lighting balls were heading towards the Gra Valkas Imperial Army. When the Gunbounders Regiment finished launching their ordinances to the air, Feena radioed the standby units.

"This is Tech Smith. You're clear to proceed. We will cut them off as planned."

"Yes, Ma'am!"

"Transmission from Equinox. Our Harbinger Gunship has completed their mission, and now it's on the way to bombard the Central Army Group."

"Good. Tell them that they've got thirty minutes to catch up."

"Yes, Ma'am."

When the people of Kielseki look at the battle on Kielseki plains through the screen that projects a live stream of the battle, it's as they've witnessed the wonder weapon of the Celestina Empire. The Gunbounder Regiment has vehicles as it was alive, Mammoth Tank that rarely has its shield flickers, and the sniper that constantly picks off any enemies one by one without overlapping each other.

"I'll go to help General Mick cut them off."

Feena teleport herself into one of the Pelican bays that had just landed to unload the mobile portal for transporting Celestina and Mu's Tank.

Kielseki Plains

"How the hell we're going to destroy that tank!? Its armor is too thick!"

"Our bullets won't even make a dent against it!"

When a Panther Tank is about to ram the Mammoth Tank head-on to prevent its turret from turning, a yellow light ball suddenly appears and fires a beam to the Panther Tank.

"G-guh! What's this!? Driver! Reverse!"

"Yes, sir!"

As the Panther tries to reverse, the track suddenly stops, and they can feel it moving towards the Mammoth Tank.

"Reverse, dammit!"

"I'm doing it! They're pulling us!"

"W-what!?"

Shocked, the Gunner aims the gun at the Mammoth Tank.

"You bitch! Don't come close to us! Fire!"

BOOM!

When the High Explosive shell hits the Mammoth Tank, it explodes, but the dragging soon continues as the Mammoth Tank appears unscathed.

"Shit! Shit! What the hell!"

"Help us!"

"Abandon Tank!"

The crew abandoned the tank as soon as the Mammoth Tank began dragging their tank again. As soon as the range is around a meter, Yuuna activates anti-gravity. When the Mammoth Tank began to lift, it also bent the turret that aimed towards the Mammoth Tank upwards. As soon as the Mammoth Tanks reaches the top turret of the Panther Tank, the gravity increases, and it crushes the Panther Tank.

"T-the Panther Tank…."

Inside the Command Truck, General Zepp Donitz saw the Armored and Panzer Divisions' morale begin to collapse as soon as the Mammoth Tank flattened the Panther Tank.

"N-No, sir. They do flatten it over with the Mammoth Tank."

The Commanders were frustrated that their attack didn't make a dent on the Mammoth Tank. Whenever they advance their unit, the combination of Mammoth Tank and 4th Hamlin Company's rampage, and 1st Ballistic Ranger Army sniping annihilate them on the track. The infantries are demoralized, witnessing their comrades-in-arms, squadmates, and even those who came from the same town were picked off one by one from a sniper attack. Now, another barrage comes in, and the infantries quickly look for a way to get shelter.

"Incoming attack!"

"Take cover, everyone!"

BOOM! BOOM!

"Gyaaaaa!"

"Uwaaaa! Someone help me!"

"Man down! Man down!"

The barrages from BigFoot's rocket launcher, Kalsiddon's missile barrage, Lightning's thunder ball, and Armour's HE rounds obliterate over eight thousand infantries, destroying at least forty vehicles and eight tanks.

"Intel from Valkyries Base! Our base has been destroyed!"

"What the hell!? How's that possible! We're sure that we saw our Interceptors not long ago!"

Major General Borg, sitting at King Tiger II's Commander's seat, stares at the battlefield. He's boxed in after the previous barrage, and the Gra Valkas Imperial Army believes they were trapped. He didn't believe that their base of operations have been destroyed by Celestina and Mu's raid that ends an hour ago.

"Attack in full force! We have more numbers!"

Borg desperately tries to keep his 4th Armored Division together to resume the assault. The Gra Valkas Empire had more numbers, yet the casualties continued to pile up, as Borg found this unacceptable. Just as he's about to lead a charge, a sudden bombardment arrives from the sky.

"Incoming attack from the sky!"

"Fuck! They got air support already!"

"Fall back! Fall back!"

Once the Harbinger Gunship completes their assignment to weaken the Valkyries Base, now they arrive on the battlefield to plummet the Gra Valkas Imperial Army's morale.

"Shit! Shit!"

"General! Recon reports that the enemy has blocked our retreat path!"

"Say what!? That's impossible! Our recon already swept that area, and you're saying that they appeared right now!?"

"Y-yes, sir!"

"H-how…. How did they?"

Borg and the Generals haven't realized that Celestina uses the Pelican and Condor to transport Mu and Celestina Tanks to the rear line, cutting off their retreat.

Kielseki Plains, Hills surrounding Kielseki

"Watch your fire when shooting. The bullets could ricochet at any time."

Cecilia observes the battlefield as a sniper stop firing to reload for a moment before resuming firing. He gives his feedback.

"This bullet is kinda new to us, Ma'am. The armory normally issues the 114mm APFSDS, HVAP, or HEAP rounds for this mission. We've only received FTPAP and FTPDU rounds for field-testing for this mission. Isn't this violating the protocol, ma'am?"

"To be honest, we do. But, since we can't use it on our scrapped units, it's best for us to test it on them. Not to mention we may prepare the FTPHE and FTPFSDS rounds soon for field-testing later. Since our guns were upgraded to be compatible in firing using coilgun and railgun mode that could reach above Mach 50, the bullets would also have to be suitable for it. Got any issue when using it?"

"That's the problem, Ma'am. This FTP-type bullet is overkill, far more lethal than standard 114mm rounds. Even though it's the same caliber, it has more destructive power."

"Hmm…. I will take that feedback. I would ask the armory to limit it to a specific mission that requires FTP for this."

The result of the field-testing is very shocking for Cecilia. A Ferric Tungsten Projectile, known as FTP, was deemed more lethal than the standard 65x114mm Tungsten rounds. Even though FTP caliber is the same as standard 114mm rounds, the firepower was deemed too much to handle by the snipers since it has better compatibility for MAC and Railgun weaponry.

"Yeah…. It's overkill. Just look at how a bullet can blow a human body like that. Even a 50 cal or standard 114mm won't have damage like that."

Looking through Falcon Eyes, the damage was too much to handle. Body shot can be counted as headshot since when the bullet lands on the chest, it destroys the entire upper body.

"Ballista Tank, I need a report of the new rounds."

"Overkill, Ma'am. But I think it would be suitable if we want to snipe on those warships bastards."

"With 120mm?"

"Yes, Ma'am. APFSDS seems weaker compared to these FTP shells. This thing can punch through up to two or three tanks before the shell began to disperse."

"So I guess rifled barrel is more effective than smoothbore, huh?"

They were transported through twenty-five portable portals that can open temporarily to transport supplies and units. Infantries were also being deployed to suppress any possible escapee from Gra Valkan Infantries. General Mick, along with Feena Minazuki, watches them.

"Man, look at them run."

"They're coming here! Everyone, prepare the defenses! Don't let any of them through!"

"Yes, sir!"

Celestina's Liberator Tanks were taking their position, with the barrel set to the enemy tank and vehicles that attempted to break through their line. Mu Sherman Star Tank was also taking their position, with the standard Sherman in front and Firefly on the back for damage maximization.

"The first group of armor would arrive in two minutes!"

"Ready your weapons!"

"APDS loaded!"

"HEAP loaded!"

"Here they come! Wait until they reach effective range!"

"Ready! Fire!"

BOOM! BOOM!

Barrages of shells, machinegun, and mortars from respective operators plummet the Gra Valkas Infantry's morale further. They were surrounded, and they only had little cover since snipers were everywhere, picking off any Infantry, Vehicles, and Tanks attempting to escape.

The Gra Valkas Imperial Army was desperate to escape. However, their body count continued to increase as they tried to escape from the battlefield as more divisions started to turn around, realizing the battle was over the moment they engaged Celestina's 4th Hamlin Company, without realizing that they'd been surrounded since the beginning. Major General Borg ordered his men to make a retreat, but Mu and Celestina's Tank has blockaded the retreat path. With his unit is at the forefront of the retreat path, he ordered his men to break through the blockade.

"Breakthrough their blockade no matter what it takes!"

"Sir! Radio from the Celestina Empire! They demanded us to surrender, or they would keep pounding us. They already have units inside the tunnel to finish us off if we do not surrender."

"Fuck surrender! If they surrender, I will deal with them personally! No one is allowed to surrender, you hear me!? No one, and we will continue to push through!"

Lieutenant Karl Spee was shocked aboard his Panther Tank. Celestina's assaults were beyond his imagination, and he can see more of his fellow soldiers being slaughtered one after another. The rampage of the Mammoth Tank, the bombardment from the Harbinger Gunship, everything is a nightmare for him as he witnessed it with his own eyes how merciless Celestina is when it comes to fighting.

"General is crazy! Even General Zepp Donitz also agreed with Major General Borg!"

"Oh, fuck it! We have more numbers, but our base has been destroyed, and we've kept pounded here!"

"Sir! Look at them."

The gunner looks at some of the Gra Valkan Infantry that takes their white clothes and raises its weapon, turning it into a makeshift white flag. Those surrounding it also crouch and cower in fear, as they lose their will to fight. When the Infantry attempts to shoot them for desertion, they are shot dead by the snipers.

"W-we better surrender as well!"

"First Company from 4th Armored Division! This is our chance to live for another day! It's better for us to surrender than fight to the last breath! We've got nowhere to run!"

"But, sir! The brass would punish us!"

"They're digging their own graves! Do as I say, or we'll be going home in a coffin! We still have families and those who were waiting for us back home! I don't care if it took a long time for us to get home as long as we are still alive in the future! We'd better be their prisoners, or we won't make it out of here alive! I don't care if I have to get court-martialed later!"

Some Celestina sniper saw Karl Spee company begin to halt their vehicles. "Hey, look. Some of them stop their tanks and vehicles."

"Observe them. Don't let any of that personnel try to open fire on us. Only five from each side would keep an eye on them, and the rest continue to pound any of those who try to escape to hell."

"Yes, Ma'am."

As the sniper observed, he saw a white flag made from their clothes and a weapon used as a stick. The tank commander continues to wave the makeshift white flag around.

"They're surrendering, Ma'am."

"Harbinger, this is Ballistic Ranger. Do not shoot those who surrender. Divert your attack to those who continue to flee from the battlefield."

"Yes, Ma'am."

"Hurry up! We have to break through those blockades! We must make it out of here alive!"

Desperate, General Donitz tries to push, but the sniper shot kills the engine and kills him in the second shot. Another shot destroys the Command Truck.

"The General is dead! I say again; the General is dead!"

"God damn it!

Major General Borg makes one final effort to breach Celestina's blockade. But the blockade formed by his former and deceased personnel and the armored vehicle and tanks' husks hinder his retreat.

"If you weren't here! We would have already conquered this world!"

CLANG! BOOM!

A sniping shot from Mammoth Tank that transforms its barrel to the railgun destroys his King Tiger Tank, killing Borg and his entire crew with it, and another King Tiger ahead of him.

The bombardment and shelling continue for another one hour. After it stopped, the Harbinger Gunship returned to Enubia Airbase and the escorts, Ludmila Obertas, and her Flight unit, while the rest had already landed.

"Let's move in and capture those who surrender!"

Quickly, every SAA sniper went to the battlefield to seize the survivors and those who surrendered.

Lieutenant Karl Spee saw Celestina's soldiers clad in armor advancing to the battlefield.

"Look at their weapon."

"They're…. Snipers that kill our men."

"Lay down your weapon and raise both of your hands."

"Y-yes, sir."

Throwing away their weapons, Karl Spee, his crew, and surviving personnel raise both of their hands. Two Mammoth Tank arrives, and both canopies open, revealing a girl from each tank.

"A woman!? The operator is a woman!?"

"That can't be!"

"L-look! They've got live vehicles!"

The 10th Gunbounder Regiment also advances and stops close enough to them. Karl and his men saw the eyes from the vehicles are looking around while the drivers were doing something.

"What kind of vehicle is that? Is it animal?"

Cecilia hops into the top of Izumi's Mammoth Tank, and she sits at the top of the turret. Karl Spree and the prisoners never thought that these young girls dare to dive into the battlefield.

"Quite a mess you both did. Splattering, flattening, what else?"

"Sniping kill, I guess?"

"FTP Bullet's issue is its overkill. I can only use that Railgun when two King Tigers are lining up together using 120mm FTP rounds. It's a good thing to bring standard 120mm rounds to anticipate the situation when we can't use FTP rounds."

"I will have Feena take a look later, but you both can analyze the barrels, right? Snipers and Ballista Tank operator wants this to be used exclusively for Rifled Barrel, and it's not suitable for Smoothbore."

"That's what we thought too. Probably FTPFSDS would be only for Smoothbore. We would run the tests later."

For the Battle of Kielseki, the Gra Valkas Empire lost the entire invasion force, with at least three thousand personnel surrendered as the actual count is still ongoing. The Celestina Empire and Mu coalition captured sixty tanks, with one King Tiger Tank, four Tiger Tank, five Panther Tank, and fifty Light and Medium Tanks. For the vehicles, at least two hundred armored vehicles, command trucks, and supply trucks were captured, and Mu would utilize them for better use in the future.

General Donitz and Major General Borg were confirmed Killed in Action after their bodies were found inside the Command Truck and King Tiger when Celestina began inspecting the remains of the destroyed vehicles.

The Gra Valkas Empire, Caesar's Battle Group

"That's absurd!"

Caesar was enraged as his fleet was sailing back from a victory against the Holy Milishial Empire. It would take another two days for him and his crew to reach Leifor, and the news of defeat infuriates him.

The defeat at the Battle of Kielseki forced all of the top brass stationed on Leifor to postpone the Invasion of Mu indefinitely. The Battle of Ardennes Pocket and Battle of Kielseki effectively makes the entire brass recognize Celestina's actual threat.

"Inform the brass to stop this war at once! We should have asked for reparations from Celestina, Mu, and Holy Milishial to avoid more losses!"

Caesar knew that if the war continued like this and the top brass didn't want to admit this defeat, it would make the Gra Valkas Empire play right into Celestina's hand.
