In class Kurt uses some time to write down his grocery list. Rachel said she'd go to the grocery store tomorrow and he needs just a few things. Also he doesn't want her to forget anything and of she goes he and Santana can sleep a little longer.
As soon as Mr. Anderson ends the class Rachel, Santana and Kurt stand up, ready to leave. "Have a good weekend" Blaine wishes the class but his eyes involuntarily flicker to Kurt. The younger man answers with a nod and a smile before he follows his friends out of the room.
Before they even arrive at home to change into their work clothes Kurt gets a message from his boyfriend.
Blaine: I hope work won't be too busy and you can relax a little. Text me when you get home?
Kurt: Thanks. You know that I will come home late right?
Blaine: I don't mind. Either I just see in the morning that you arrived home well or maybe I'm still up. I'm heading to the studio now and don't know how long I will stay anyway.
Kurt: Have fun. Maybe I could call you after work if you're still awake and you could sing me to sleep.
It was half meant as a joke and half not. He falls asleep after work within a few minutes because he's so tired so he wouldn't need a lullaby. And yes he wants to call Blaine but they would talk for like five minutes before Kurt would've fallen asleep. Still he smiles when Blaine responds
Blaine: That can be arranged. Just call me when you're home.
Kurt: That was a joke. I'll be fast asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I can still call you for that little time I'm awake. I have to get changed now but I'll text you later.
Blaine: I don't care. Call me when you get home.
Now in a slightly better mood Kurt gets ready for work. Even at work the text messages between him and Blaine go forth and back. Sometimes it takes a little longer until one of them responds because they are both busy but they still keep the conversation going.
"Hey you" the curly haired man greets when he answers the phone. "Hey" Kurt answers and the other man immediatly hears the sound of Kurts voice "Poor tired Kurt. Are you already in bed or still getting ready?". "I'm ready but sitting at my desk. If I lay down I'd fall asleep" the questioned man answers. "How was work?" Blaine asks.
They talk for a bit longer about everything and nothing. Kurt tells Blaine about work and the other way around. But Blaine quickly realizes that Kurt gets more and more tired and really needs some sleep so he says "Lay down in bed Kurt. You're tired".
Just as Kurt wants to say goodbye Blaine interrupts him "We don't hang up yet. You asked me to sing you to sleep remember?". "As a joke" Kurt conters but the other man could just smile on his side of the line "I don't care. Now get comfortable and put me on speaker".
Kurt does as told "Okay. What now?". Blaine doesn't answer and instead starts to sing twinkle twinkle little star as it's the first song that comes to his mind. The younger smiles and cuddles into the bed sheets. He loves to hear Blaine sing. Still a few seconds later he's already asleep. Once Blaine realizes that he smiles and whispers "Goodnight Kurt" before he ends the call and goes to bed himself.
The whole weekend the couple tries to text or call. Kurt sleeps in on Saturday and when he finally wakes up he sees a good morning message from Blaine on his lockscreen. When Blaine is done buying groceries after his meeting he calls Kurt and Kurt calls Blaine after work again.
On Sunday after work Kurt only sends a text, saying that he's home. It was the most exhausting shift since a longer while and they only came home around 3 at night. Kurt gets ready for bed and sets an alarm for 6 am for school. Three hours of sleep will never be eough but he doesn't have a choice so he falls asleep, wanting to make the best out of these three hours.
Kurt somehow gets through his classes the next day. Besides his last class. The exhaustion just overtakes him and he can't keep his eyes open anymore. He falls asleep in Mr. Andersons class, arms crossed on the table, pillowing his head.
Mr. Andersaon notices that the student fell asleep but Kurt mentioned in his text that he's home only now because the place was too crowded and that he's super tired. He also recalls telling Kurt that he wouldn't mind if he accidentally fell asleep on a Monday, knowing that he has to work long. So Blaine just continues the lesson. Maybe after class instead of practicing the song he could take Kurt out for a coffee only and send him home to get some sleep.
When the teacher ends the class all students get up and leave. No one pays attention that one student fell asleep. Only Rachel and Santana stand there, looking at Kurt. They look just as tired as Kurt so Blaine says "You two go home and try to get some sleep. I'll wake him". The girls just nod and mumble a "Thank you" and a "Goodbye" before they, too, leave the classroom.
Blaine smiles a little when he looks at Kurt now that they are alone in the room. He looks cute when he sleeps. The man crouches down next to the table and carefully wakes his boyfriend. His hand strokes up and down Kurts back while he softly says "Hey Kurt. Time to wake up now".
More and more the younger man gets aware of his surroundings until his head snaps up "Fuck. I fell asleep in class". "Yes you did but it's okay" Blaine answers. Only now Kurt looks to his side to see who woke him. "I'm so sorry Blaine. I really tried to stay awake" Kurt tries to apologize but the other man smiles "It's okay Kurt. Ask Santana or Rachel for their notes and you'll be fine".
"Now how about we skip the lesson today. We could get a coffee and eat something before you head home early to get some more sleep this night? The teacher proposes and Kurt smiles "That sounds awesome". He takes Blaines hand and as the older stands up he pulls Kurt up with him. "Pack your stuff together and then we can go" he says and kisses Kurt on the lips softly.
In the coffee shop he and Kurt find a table, ordering coffee, for Kurt a slice of cheesecake and for Blaine chocolate cake. The couple starts talking while eating and Kurt tells him that he, Santana and Rachel sometimes have to stay longer if it's crowded and only when the other waiters for the next shift have fully settled in they can go. They miss their subway and have to wait for the next one and so it comes that it's three am instead of two when they come home.
But as a thank you they get one day off this weekend. While the girls, wisely, chose the Sunday Kurt settled on the Friday so he can do something with Baine after school. The curly haired man smiles at that. A whole Friday evening for him and Kurt. He'll think of something they can do.
Once the plates and mugs are empty and they payed Blaine offers to give Kurt a ride home since it's quicker than taking the subway. They say goodbye in the car and with a quick kiss and Blaine says "Sleep well" with a smile before Kurt gets out of the car and home.
Upstairs he decides to take a little nap before dinner time. The girls are also asleep but have to get up before him because it's Rachels turn cooking and Santana helps her. Not only because it's quicker but also because Rachel isn't the best cook so most of the time he or Santana help her out in the kitchen.
