Neb: I do not own Jessica Jones and all the properties that comes with it. It is own by Marvel Studio, Disney, maybe some pieces are owned by other studios, but mainly those two. I hope you all enjoy.
"This is the place," a fifteen year old girl with black long hair and a black jacket frowned as she stood outside a mansion gate with a bald man in a wheelchair. "It looks kind of like your place huh."
"Thank you for your assistance Jessica," Charles Xavier nodded. "I'll have a word with Mr. Whelan, see if you can find his eldest son."
"You want me to break in private property," Jessica responded with an eye roll
"You'll be well compensated," Charles shrugged.
"Good enough for me," she admitted. "I'll sneak around back, while you distract pops."
"Just note, I do not want to kidnap the boy, I only want him to know there are others out there like him."
"Yeah, but I wasn't born a mutant," Jessica pointed out. "I'm not like him."
"Perhaps not, but I think you know a thing or two about adoptive families," Charles smiled. "I trust in you."
She looked at him and sighed. "Your paying me double." As Charles made his way through the gate, she leaped in the air and gently floated towards the back entrance of the mansion. There were men in suits all over the place, some carrying Tommy guns. "Gotta avoid them," she thought as she made her way in through the back patio undetected. Jessica had gained her powers from radiation treatment was used to help recover her cells faster after a car crash that killed her family. Now she has super strength, can leap over tall buildings, and is more durable then your average superhero. She has also been known to have quick healing, but nowhere near on the same level as Mutants like wolverine. As she made her way in through the back door she stood there and listened until the doorbell rang. The mob boss of this house Whelan went to go answer the door. When the coast was clear she made her way through the house. There was only a few reasons Charles hired her, he didn't want to risk his precious students who were just learning their powers. Aside from that, in spite being fifteen, she's had a lot of experience stopping bad guys and providing private investigation services. That same experience helped her track down Whelan's mansion.
As she made her way past the dining room towards the upstairs, she saw family photos. Two boys with red hair and freckles were playing with a boy with long black hair in these photos. The arrangement of them showed how these boys grown up together. Occasionally there were family photos of them all standing together with their mother and father, though the boy with the black hair and blue eyes was almost frowning in each of the photos, up until the last one. The boy had bandages over his right eye in the last photo as it looked like he was forcing himself to smile. Then the next photo after that the boy no longer had the bandages, but instead two long scars across his face. He wasn't having trouble smiling anymore, as a cold emotionless grin was spread across the dark haired boy's face. "What did they do to him?", she wondered. Jessica made her way up the stairs and passed by a room where the two red headed boys slept. She peaked her head in and then sighed before closing the door.
"What are you doing here?", the dark haired boy spoke up at the end of the hallway. The scars were still prominent on his face, they hadn't had much time to heal, and even though the boy was staring at an intruder he wasn't showing any signs of fear. Instead he simply just gave a warm inviting smile to her. "Welcome to Whelan Manor, I am Ricky Whelan. I hope you weren't planning on kidnapping my brothers?"
"Kidnapping your brothers?"
"Yes, rival families try that all the time," Ricky explained. "That's why Father Whelan adopted me you see. It just wouldn't be right to his sons if they grew up with mobster bodyguards watching them at all times. So he adopted a big brother to watch over them, and make sure they live long enough to become the new heads of the house."
"I see," Jessica responded. "Well I'm not here to kidnap your brothers. I was hired to find you."
"Me? I don't know what you could possibly want me for? Kidnapping me won't get you a seat of power against Father Whelan."
"I'm not from a rival gang," Jessica growled. She then sighed before leading the boy towards a different room.
"That's father's study, we can't hide in there," Ricky assured her as he grabbed her sleeve. "Why not try my room instead?"
She nodded as the two of them made their way into an almost empty bedroom. There wasn't any toys, just a few pictures and some books. The only furniture was the bed, the desk, the nightstand, and the dresser. "No toys Ricky?"
"No, those don't bring me joy anymore," Ricky admitted. "Now we can talk. Who are you and why are you here for me?"
"My name is Jessica," she introduced herself. "I'm here because I know what you are."
"What am I?", Ricky wondered.
"W-what? You know, your a mutant."
"Jessica huh, that's a nice name. My sister from my first family had that name. I wonder how she's doing."
This boy was extremely hard to talk to, and it was kind of pissing Jessica off. "You have special powers, I've come to tell you you aren't alone."
"Oh but I am alone," Ricky smiled. "I'm aware there are others, but sharing powers does not make you like me. It's best you should go Jessica. You've relaid your message, there is no more need for you here."
Jessica looked down and grunted. She almost did exactly that. I mean, the boy was weird, he smiles at a stranger and invites them into his room. Then he decides he doesn't actually want to talk? What was his deal? Jessica remembered the photos she saw, the boy who was frowning up until the last two photos where the scars were placed across his face. She grunted before turning around and grabbing his hand. "Your coming with me."
"Oh no, I must remind you. There is no profit from stealing me. I've been working my way up to a higher executive spot in the family, maybe I can give you tips on finding better marks."
"I'm not trying to make a profit off of you," she growled. "Anymore, I want to get you out of here?"
"Why?"
"Because it's dangerous here," she assured.
"But then why are you here?"
"Stop it with the stupid questions kid," she groaned. Even with super strength she was having difficulties dragging the boy out of the room. She wondered why that was. Did he have super strength also?" She looked down and saw the boys boots were infused with the ground beneath himself. "W-what?"
"Mutant," he reminded her.
"Childish," she shot back, before she reached down to untie his boots.
Ricky then grabbed her arm and stopped her.
Jessica looked up at him and then growled before shoving him off of herself. He did in fact fall out of his boots, but he fell into the wall. "Ah jeez, I'm sorry kid."
"Don't worry about me," Ricky grinned. He stood up, and some blood trickled down his forehead, but he didn't react to the pain. He couldn't react to the pain anymore. Now was the time to fight the intruder he figured as his hand started vibrating. "I would start worrying about yourself instead." Ricky charged at Jessica and swung his vibrating hand, but she managed to dodge him, grab the back of his shirt and toss him aside like he was nothing. "You're strong," Ricky stated aloud.
"Hey, what's the commotion up there?", some of the mobsters called upstairs.
"I think someone's fighting big brother," one of the red headed boys called out.
"Guess you've been caught," Ricky figured.
"Is it really worth staying here?", Jessica wondered. "My adoptive family is shitty also, you don't see me hanging around with them twenty-four seven."
Ricky ran his hand across his face scars as she said that. He could see the look of discomfort on her face with he did so. "I'm not worth saving," Ricky admitted with a sad smile. "You've shown me there are others like me, but that doesn't give me any sense of hope. That only tells me others are suffering just as I have. Others are being called monsters and devils by their parents, and then getting sent into child services. Only to be adopted by, as you said, shitty families. But there's one thing Father Whelan has taught me, I can endure all of it, so long as there's a smile on my face."
Jessica sighed before handing Ricky a pamphlet. "This guy named Professor Xavier wants you to join his special school for special children like us. I know it's not my speed, but... I think you might need a place like that in your life. Please don't stay here, you have the power to leave whenever you want." With that, Jessica ran out of Ricky's room and started fighting her way through guards until she was free from the house, then she flew off.
"Please understand, she wants what's best for you Ricky," a man spoke withing Ricky's mind.
Ricky grabbed his head and grunted, tears fell from his eyes but the smile never left his face.
