Once she got the coffee brewing and breakfast on the table, Elena headed upstairs to wake up her five-year-old daughter. So Elena could drop her off at school and then Elena could actually make it to work on time for once. Lately Elena has been coming to the hospital late for her shift, and the hospital administrator already threatened to fire Elena if she came to work late again. Elena really needs this job.

Elena loves being a doctor and she loves working at the Whitmore Hospital. The staff there are great, and Elena gets along with the other doctors. Especially with Dr. Josette Laughlin, who is also a doctor and happens to be Alaric Saltzman's wife.

Opening her daughter's door, Elena walked in and walked towards her daughter's bed, pulling the blanket off of her. "Hey sleepy head." It's time to wake up."

"Just five more minutes." Elena's daughter groaned as she pulled the blanket up and over her head.

Elena sighed deeply as she shook her head and pulled the blanket completely off her daughter." Bella Rose Gilbert, get up and get ready for school. I can't be late for work, and you can't be late for school." Elena said sternly.

"Fine." Bella said as she finally opened her eyes and sat up."Hey, Mommy, can we still go visit Grandma this weekend?" She asked as she remembered that Elena had mentioned going to Mystic Falls and visiting Grandma earlier in the week.

" I don't know sweetie, it depends on my schedule. Come on let's you ready for school and we can have breakfast while it's still hot and there's still time." Elena said as she pulled Bella out of bed and walked towards Bella's closet to find something for Bella to wear at school.

After Elena got Bella and herself ready and after they both had their breakfast, they both headed out the front door just in time for Elena to drop Bella off at school on time, which meant that Elena will actually be at work on time for once.

Getting off the elevator in the Pediatrician station as Elena was heading towards her office she noticed Dr. Joesette Laughlin standing by the front desk." Good morning Dr. Laughlin." Elena said as she walked up to her.

" Well, Good morning Dr. Gilbert. Wow, you actually managed to get here on time." Joesette said with a mock shock.

Elena snorts a laugh as she shook her head." Very funny. But yes I actually did managed to get here on time. Since I was able to get Bella to school on time this morning." She said as she took her files from one of the nurses.

" Awe, how is my favorite little Spitfire?"

" She's good. She asked me if we're going to Mystic Falls to visit Grandma this weekend." Elena answered with a sigh as she walked toward her office.

" Oh wow, really?" Joesette asked as she followed Elena into her office.

" Yeah."

" When was the last time you've seen your mom?" Joesette asked curiously.

Elena sighs softly as she set the files down on her desk." Not since the funeral." Elena had recently lost her father due to lung cancer, which he had for two years and of course he tried to fight it, but Grayson lost the battle and passed away a few months ago.

" Are things still kinda rocky between you two?"

Elena chuckled a little as she walked around her desk and sat down in her chair."Something like that, she still wants me to reach out to my ex and tell him about Bella."

" Wow, why does she want you to tell him?"

Elena snorts a little as she rolled her eyes." Because for some reason, my mother seems to think that he deserves to know and that Bella deserves a father. But I haven't talked or heard from him since I was pregnant with Bella. As matter of fact he doesn't even know she exsist."

" So, he never knew that you were pregnant?" Joesette asked as she never knew this.

Elena shook her head." I never really had the chance to tell him. When I got home one night after visiting with my parents, Damon was gone. He took everything with him and all he left behind was a note telling me, that he couldn't do this anymore and that he was sorry." Getting a note like that from Damon was painful for Elena. She was devistated, she felt like her entire world fell apart.

" Wow, and he never told you were he went?"

Elena shakes her head once again." Nope, but when I talked to his brother Stefan, a few days after I've gotten the note. Stefan said that Damon went to New Oreleans so he can opened up his bar." Elena tried to get Damon to open up his bar in Mystic Falls, but Damon never wanted to have his bar in Mystic Fal!s. He always had his eye on New Oreleans.

" Damn... well at least in you're in a better relationship now. I mean you and Matt seems to be doing great, and you do seem to be lot happier now." Joesette said with a smile.

A small smile spread across Elena's face as she started to think about her current boyfriend Matt Donavan. Matt Dovavan is the new Sheriff of Mystic Falls and he and Elena have been seeing each other for awhile now. Even he and Bella are getting along.

" Yeah Matt's great."

" Uh-oh.. what's wrong?"

Elena snorts a laugh." What makes you think there's something wrong?"

" Elena, I know you and I know when there's something wrong. I can tell by the tone of your voice. Besides I'm like one of you're good friends. So what's going on?"

Elena shook her head." It's nothing really, it's just Matt sorta asked me to marry him and I haven't really given him an answer yet." Couple nights ago while Elena and Matt were enjoying quiet evening at home, Matt proposed to her.

" And why not?"

Elena just shrugs her shoulers." I don't know. But I did tell him that I'll think about it though."

" What's there to think about? You should marry Matt."

Elena snorts a laugh as she shook her head." And why is that?" She asked being little ammused right now.

" Because, he loves you and you love him. He's great with Bella. Plus you two are amazing together and you deserve happiness." Josette answered with a smirk.

Elena chuckled softly as she nods her head." Yeah, we are. Thanks Jo."

" Hey, that's what I'm here for." Josette said as she checked the time on her phone." I should get started on my rounds. I'll see you later." She said as she got up and walked out of Elena's office closing the door behind her.

Elena exhales deeply as she looked over the photo of her and Matt sitting on her. desk. Elena and Matt have been together for a few years now and so far everything has been going great between them and he's great with Bella. Elena loves Matt, she's just not really sure about their future together.

AN: This story is gonna start out slow. But not too slow, I promise. This is only the first chapter and I still gotta figure out how and where I want to take this story. Feel free to leave reviews to let me know what you all think. Also There's gonna be quite few characters from both Vampire Diaries and The Originals through out the story. Along with Ships of my choosing.
