Despite how Davis feels, he's still getting on a cruise ride. For around a week or so, Davis and the others are going to be living it up out at sea. After all the hard work they've done at college, they deserve a chance to have fun. Now that all the tests are done, they all have a chance to do just that. Davis arrived at the dock and took a look at the large ship that he's going to have fun on. At least, he's going to try and have fun. It's just that he's going to be stuck out at sea and will have to watch Kari and T.K. act like a couple. In fact, he already did as he spotted the two of them together with them having their arms around each other.

"Damn. I really have to watch that." Davis said. He felt like he was stranded for everywhere he turned, he saw that. There just didn't appear to be any escape.

"Hey, don't let it bother you." Ken said as he stood with Davis. "Focus on having a fun time. What are the odds we're on here again?"

"I know. I'll try, but I doubt it will be easy." Davis claimed.

"Hey! Wait for me!" Yolei called as she came with bigger luggage than the others had.

"You do realize we'll only be on that thing for around a week, right? Did you really have to pack your whole apartment?" Davis questioned.

"Very funny. Everything in here is all that I need to have a good time." Yolei said. "Got nice books and magazines to go with sun tanning, perfectly good sunscreen for sun tanning, a couple things needed I'll have to check for Izzy, and much more. This is going to be fun, fun, fun!"

"You can say that again!" T.K. said as he and Kari joined the others. "I can't believe we're really doing this!"

"I know. It's going to be so much fun." Kari said. "Are we all here yet? We should probably board on it soon."

"I don't think Cody is here yet." Ken said.

"I am now." They all looked and saw that Cody arrived just in time.

"Cody! So good to see you again!" Yolei said. "I wasn't sure you were really going to make it. I know law school had to have been keeping you busy."

"I wasn't sure I was going to make it either, but even I deserve a break." Cody said. "That's why I finished up all my work and was able to make it here just in time. I can't wait to actually have a relaxing time."

"Cody actually wants to have a relaxing time and have some fun? Someone pinch me." Davis teased as he was doing just what Ken suggested.

"Very funny, but even I like to have some fun." Cody said.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get on board and let the good times begin." T.K. said.

"Hold on." Davis said. "I told Mina we would meet up with her before boarding. She's probably looking for us right now."

"Mina? A classmate of yours?" Cody questioned.

"Yeah. She's really cool and nice." Kari said. "I hear she's a lot of fun, but Davis here is the one that's been interacting the most with her. He knows her better than we do."

"Here she comes now!" Davis said.

"Hey! Here I am!" Mina called as she joined the others. "Sorry if I kept you guys waiting too long."

"Not long at all." Davis said as she joined the group. "Mina, these two are our friends Yolei and Cody. I don't think you guys have actually met."

"Hey. Davis has told me about you." Mina said.

"It's nice to meet you." Cody said as he actually bowed to her.

"I've heard a bit about you myself. You can actually tolerate Davis and like hanging around her. I'm not sure there are many girls that can do that." Yolei joked. "I heard that it's because of you we're able to do this. How did you pull it off?"

"I know some people. I know some people that work on the ship and they were able to help out with this." Mina said.

"Thanks a lot, Mina." T.K. said as he held out his hand. "Oh, and it's nice to officially meet you. We've had a few classes together and I've seen you around campus, but I don't think you and I officially met."

"Better late than never, but I've seen you around, too." Mina said as she shook his hand and enjoyed touching his hand. "I've heard you in literacy class when you read a couple papers you did yourself. You certainly have a way with words. I do hope that this cruise could bring us closer."

"Sure. That sounds nice." T.K. said as he thought that was perfectly innocent, but Mina had other intentions. Still, she was mature about it and kept it to herself.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get on the cruise and check it out." Yolei said. They were all excited to be on the cruise with the others going on ahead with Mina and Davis following. Although, Kari did notice how those two stayed back so they could talk in privately.

"You going to be okay?" Mina asked.

"It won't be easy, but I can't let this stop me from having fun. Still, I can't believe I'm going to be stuck on a boat and have to look at that the whole time." Davis said as he could see T.K. and Kari holding hands. How he so wishes that was him instead.

"Need to relieve yourself again? Want to meet at my room or yours?" Mina teased.

"Down girl." Davis said as he wasn't going to fold so easily this time. He's here to try and have fun and enjoy himself. As long as he doesn't have to constantly see T.K. and Kari act like a couple, but it might be easier said than done. Then again, fate has a strange way of working.

...

The Cruise

Soon, it was time to set sail. It was bon voyage for the cruise and it hit the water. The ship itself was going to be a lot of fun. There was a nice buffet hall, a pool, a spa, and more. This ship was designed for fun and pleasure, and that's exactly what the passengers are going to do.

"Attention, passengers. This is your captain speaking. We are now setting sail, and you are free to enjoy yourself. We do ask that you oblige by the rules of our ship, but do have fun." He had to make that announcement because he knows there's a bunch of college students on this ship that just want to party and have fun. As for the gang, Yolei and Kari entered the room they will be sharing and loved it.

"Oh my gosh. This room is so lovely." Yolei said as it was like they were entering a fancy hotel room.

"I know. I can't wait to see what else this ship has to offer." Kari said.

"Hey, don't you want to bunk with T.K.?" Yolei questioned.

"There was some sort of mistake when we were assigned our rooms. T.K. got a single." Kari said. "That's how you and I ended up in the room together. I hope that's not a problem."

"Of course not." Yolei said. "I would have liked to bunk with Ken, but his mother was actually a little concerned about that. That's why he's going to be in a different room. However, I don't mind one bit that I'm rooming with you. Still, it doesn't mean you can't spend some quality time with him." She said with a wink.

"Easy, Yolei. There will be plenty of time for me and T.K. to spend time together." Kari said. "You do know there's more between him and me than just that, right?"

"I know, but your first serious relationship as an adult can be quite something." Yolei said.

"Anyway, what do you think of Mina? It seems like she and Davis are rather close." Kari said. "Honestly, I've been a little worried about Davis lately."

"You have? You think something is wrong?" Yolei questioned.

"Yeah... I thought maybe he was bothered by me and T.K. You remember how things were years ago." Kari said. "However, now I'm starting to think it's more about school or something else. The Davis I remember was always full of spirit and optimistic. I can just tell that there's something bothering him, but I can't tell what it is exactly. Then again, just before we boarded, he acted like his regular self for a moment."

"Kari, you and T.K. have been together for a couple years. He has to be over it by now. If not, he will because he values your friendship." Yolei said. "I might not like how Davis acted sometimes, but he was a good guy that clearly cared about his friends. You remember how that whole thing with MetalGreymon went. If there really is something bothering him, we just have to trust that he'll tell us when the time comes. Knowing Davis, he's not the type to stay down in the dumps. Besides, we've all been going through changes lately. Sora, for example, didn't even want to fight anymore back when she had Biyomon with her. Even your brother is shaping to be a mature and respected member of society."

"Yeah. Maybe I'm overthinking things because a part of me wishes things could stay the same." Kari said as she started to feel a little sentimental. "After all, this might be the last time we get to spend time together."

"Hey, you know we're still friends no matter what." Yolei said as she placed her arms around Kari in comfort. That's something that will stay the same. "As for Mina, if I were you, I keep my eye on her. Maybe you didn't notice the way she was eyeing your man, but I did."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Kari questioned.

"I could be wrong, but I think she's into your man." Yolei said. "Better keep your guard up around her." Kari didn't really think that was needed, but what if Yolei is right? Even if she is, Kari isn't all that worried because she trusts T.K. That's it...isn't it? Just then, they heard knocking on the door. "It's open!"

"Hey!" Mina said as she opened the door. "You two settling in okay?"

"Yeah. Everything seems fine." Yolei said.

"Good, because you better get yourselves ready to party!" Mina said.

...

Later

Once everyone got settle in on the cruise, they met up later in the day to party. They actually did party. They went into a hall and could hear the music, dance to it, drink to it, and much more. All seven of them headed there. It was a lot of fun with the whole place packed. It's just what they thought it was.

"I've never had so much fun! This is awesome!" T.K. said as he was clearly having a good time. "This dance hall has a desert bar and a regular bar?! Are you kidding me?!"

"No one is kidding! This place is like a dream come true!" Mina said.

"Did we die and go to heaven?" Yolei said as everyone was clearly having a good time. "I don't care what this is?! If this is a fantasy, no one wake me up!"

"Mina, I don't know how to thank you for getting us all on here." Ken said.

"Thank me by living like this is your last day alive." Mina claimed.

"Already on it. Come on, T.K. Let's dance!" Kari said as she grabbed his hand and the two of them hit the dancefloor once again with Davis getting annoyed.

"Come on, Cody. Join in. You seem as stiff as a board." Yolei said. "We have a chance to feel like we're in paradise. Let's have some fun."

"I don't know. I don't really like to dance, and I can't exactly drink alcohol." Cody said.

"If you do, it will be our secret." Yolei said. "The point is that you need to try and enjoy yourself. Loosen up. Whatever it is you want to do, let's just do it!" She wants Cody to have a good time himself, but Cody isn't really sure this is his scene. "You are too serious. Ken!" Yolei snapped her fingers and Ken started pushing Cody into the dancefloor.

"Ken! What are you doing?!" Cody said.

"What can I say? When she's right, she's right. Even I feel like wanting to cut loose." Ken said. All three of them joined Kari and T.K. on the dancefloor. Once Cody got on there, he tried to dance, but he was too nervous and was really just moving his arms. That boy really needs to loosen up.

"Don't tell me you're not going to dance because of that." Mina said as she gestured to Kari and T.K. dancing together and enjoyed that part the most.

"I never really liked to dance, just like Cody." Davis said. As the two of them were talking, Kari noticed them talking secretly with each other again.

"Really? That's too bad because a few girls would like your moves." Mina said. "Davis, we're only going to be young once, so we might as well live it up and have as much fun while we can. At least that's what I want before I have kids and have to get serious and settle down."

"Mina, you really are one in a million." Davis said.

"Maybe you just need a drink to help you relax." Mina said as she went to the bar. Davis really does want to try and have fun, but it's hard when you have to constantly see something you don't like. As for Mina, she went to the bar and got the bartender's attention. "A beer here, and make it a strong one!" She ordered with the bartender getting her a bottle. When she got that, she felt someone tried to get her attention and saw it was T.K. "Oh, hey!"

"Hey. I was hoping that maybe we could talk." T.K. said. "I've seen you around campus, and Davis seems to think you're a great person. Since we're going to be here for a long time, I was hoping we could get to know each other."

"Careful. You wouldn't want Kari to get the wrong idea." Mina said.

"Not what I meant." T.K. said with a laugh. "I know a little about you and I think you're interesting, and Davis seems quite fond of you."

"Yeah, but don't get the wrong idea. He and I aren't together or anything. We just have fun with each other since the first year in campus." Mina said. "He's a good guy, but I'm not interested in actually dating him. Right now, I just want to have a nice night here, hoping to get a vanilla shortcake at that desert stand, and enjoy a nice viewing of Blind Side."

"No way! That is my favorite desert and my favorite movie!" T.K. said. Seems like that he might have a new friend. As those two were talking, Davis just stayed back by himself and didn't really pay attention around him. That was until someone snapped him out of it.

"Hey." Kari said and got his attention. "Are you okay? You're hanging back here alone while the rest of us are dancing."

"I'm fine. Just waiting for Mina." Davis said.

"Mina...? Sounds like things are great between you two. That's nice to hear." Kari said. "Honestly, I was a little worried about you, Davis."

"Worried about me?" Davis questioned.

"I thought there might have been something troubling you. Lately, you just haven't been yourself in my eyes." Kari said. "Now, I think there was nothing concerned about. It was probably just school getting to you, but now it looks like you found a great person to be with."

"Wait. You think there's something between me and Mina?" Davis said.

"Isn't there?" Kari asked.

"No. She and I might be close, but she said so herself she isn't interested in dating me." Davis said.

"Really? I could have sworn there was something." Kari said. "Well, maybe you should try and change that because the Davis I know is persistent and never gives up. Seems like you two would be great together. Oh! T.K. is coming back. Come on and join us." She said and went back on the dancefloor. She thought those words would help, but Davis just wanted to get out of there. He got up from the table and just went for the exit. He tried to make his way through, but Ken noticed him leaving.

"Yolei, I've got to go." Ken said.

"What? Already?" Yolei questioned.

"I just need to talk to Davis. In the meantime, maybe you could help Cody." Ken said as he showed how Cody was dancing.

"Cody! No! That's not how you do it!" Yolei said with her helping him and Ken going after Davis.

...

Davis

Davis went out to the main deck, was on his own, and went to the end of the boat. He didn't feel like king of the world. He just leaned against the rail and felt miserable now.

"She tells me to go after a girl. She sees me that way and yet tells me to go for someone else." Davis said. "Did she never notice my feelings or what? Maybe I should just face it. I don't have a chance anymore, so why do I keep feeling like this?" Davis felt like there was no escape until he shuts off his feelings for Kari, but how can someone do that when he's got such a big heart.

"Davis?" Ken said as he caught up to him. "Are you okay?"

"Do I look okay?" Davis said. "Kari thought there was something going between me and Mina, and practically encouraged me to go after her. I... I really lost her..."

"It will be okay, Davis." Ken said. "I get how hard it is when you lose someone. Remember what I said about how I felt with my brother? The Davis I know isn't going to let this be the end of him. I wanted to just disappear into darkness, but you were the one who helped me get out. You know I'll be here to help you. It might seem lousy now, and you feel like you're going through hell, but you'll be okay. Even if Kari isn't the one you end up with, you'll find someone who is. You just got to keep you head up and look at what's out there."

"All I see are dark clouds." Davis said as he was seeing something.

"I know it feels like that, but..." "No, Ken." Davis interrupted.

"I mean that literally." Davis said. He pointed ahead and Ken saw what he was talking about. They could see some dark clouds up ahead. "Those clouds don't look friendly."

"No, and we're heading right for them." Ken said. Davis' problems aren't that important right now because the whole ship could be at risk now.
