I decided to streamline the Capitol portion of this story. In-universe it's because in Survivor they just plop them on the island without a bunch of training and all that. Out of universe it's because those parts are boring and we're all more excited for the Survivor part. So here's a look at the Capitol preparing for the behind-the-scenes aspect of a TV show, featuring the actual archetypes used in Survivor.
Kendall Delancy- Amazing Ace
Kendall is the closest we have this year to a classic Career. His combat and physical fitness skills will translate well to the challenges we've developed for this special Games. We do foresee negative bias towards Kendall because of the advantages of his upbringing and because of his threat level. We predict either an immediate elimination or, if he succeeds in demonstrating his usefulness as a source of food, a pre-merge elimination from outliers not keen on a Career victory. Our angle in interviews and editing will be to cast Kendall as a golden Panem boy.
Kallik- Iron Woman
Kallik is in the unique position of having the skills of a Career and the appealing humility of a Reaped Tribute. We predict a strong showing based on her survival skills and non-confrontational demeanor. Kallik may be a casualty in the post-merge Games as opponents realize she is too skilled to beat. Likewise, her social neutrality will at first be appealing but will eventually leave her without strategic alliances. Our angle with Kallik is to constantly emphasize her minority status and cultural differences.
Octavia Jacobs- Mafioso
Inquiries into Octavia's home life have provided the information that she is cold to the point of Draconian in her business endeavors. Her weakness is her son but in the absence of deaths in this Games she will see no need to employ a low-risk strategy. We predict a solid showing from Octavia which will be undone as her teammates discover her ruthlessness. When filming Octavia, coax out or fabricate statements that will cast her as a schemer and backstabber.
Valerius Vella- Entertainer
We are at something of a loss with Val. He is certainly a character but he does not have a neat place among our Survivor archetypes. Nonetheless, we predict a strong placement for Val based on his carefree rejection of any angle or strategy. He is here for a good time and not a long time, you might say. Our plan for Val is to identify a love interest and explore the angles that come with that.
Ai Latier- Family Man
Ai's designation is a non-issue. He has expressed reluctance about this Games due to his already elevated standard of living, stating other contestants need the prize more. We anticipate he will be eliminated quickly both due to this attitude and the sentiments of competitors who may agree he does not need further wealth. Focus on this angle at all times in anticipation of his departure.
Yarrow Venus- Cheerleader
Yarrow is constantly sunny and enthusiastic in her meetings with us and with her mentor. A positive voice like that will go far in the Games. Give Yarrow ample interview time to stockpile uplifting statements to be used when the majority of contestants are stressed and unenthused about interviews.
Dorian Sargasso- Freelancer
The statements from Dorian's Academy trainers describe him as talented but lazy. They send their regrets that they have not sent us their best and plead that it was a thin year. Dorian's skill in fishing will insulate him from an early elimination. We predict his laid-back personality will shield him in the later portion of the Games. When interviewing Dorian, seek out humorous stories and behind the scenes happenings that will amuse the audience.
Alara Banks- Phoenix
Another non-Career. Alara's leadership skills will be her wildcard but other than that we don't have much to go on. Best we can think of is to emphasize her angle as a resilient half-orphan still working through this tragedy. Hammer that point in interviews and go for those juicy crying shots. We have little prediction for Alara's placement.
Trydan Briod- Perfectionist
It will take little coaching to manufacture conflict from Trydan. We have not developed much of a plan for him since we predict he will be one of the earliest eliminations after his perfectionism in making camp annoys his teammates. Before interviews be sure to set up frustrating events so Trydan will appear uniformly prickly and exasperated.
Birdie Seguaro- Crusader
While Titian insists that the placements be "authentic", he concedes the need for creative editing in Birdie's case. Her political views are dangerous and the editors must take great care to disenfranchise her. This should be simple. She's a vegan. Vegans are annoying. Record and sliver of annoying vegan moments from Birdie and play them constantly until she is eliminated, which we hope will be early.
Trayne Treadwell-Lang- Freelancer
Our first duplicate. While gerrymandering is always an option, fate was kind to us and Dorian and Trydan were assigned to the same team in our initial random generation. We predict a likely alliance between the two which will spur many film-worthy moments in between challenges. Like Dorian, Trayne's friendly demeanor will likely result in a high placement. He lacks the motivation to hunt for victory but may be a surprise winner. Use Trayne's interviews for quiet moments and when in need of levity.
Svetlana Mason- Ingenue
Svetlana has very limited experience with the world outside her home. Her foray into the Survivor environment will spur a wealth of fish-out-of-water moments for our editors. Make sure to play up her shy unawareness of her own skills. These skills be thus far still kept to herself, we have no prediction on Lana's placement.
Cactus Cleo- Good Old Boy
Cactus's upbringing makes his angle simple. We will get ample footage of someone used to his quality of life encountering the rigors of wilderness survival. Cactus assures us he is going to play simply and honestly. We predict such a strategy will result in an elimination around the midpoint of the Games, possibly earlier due to his father's wealth. Focus his interviews on his thoughts on them living conditions of the Games.
Rowena Aspen- Feisty Firecracker
Few contestants fell so neatly into an archetype as Rowena. There is a wealth of material just from her decision to volunteer, but no doubt her impulsiveness and confidence will result in friction in camp life. Unless Rowena performa very well in challenges she will likely be eliminated early. Interviews with Rowena should be focused on harvesting humorous digs at other contestants and juicy commentary on camp life.
Leonardo Fabrizio- Phoenix
Another duplicate. Leonardo may be an early casualty due to limited mobility from his burns. If he overcomes this he will likely go far due to his loving personality. Despite Titian's insistence on authenticity, Snow is suspicious of Leonardo's faith and may insist on Gamemaker interference. Be sure to delete any footage from Leonardo's interviews that alludes to his faith.
Taylor Treadle- Quirky Oddball
Any alternative styling provides a ready-made angle for a contestant. Taylor will serve as the off-putting but fascinating "emo" Tribute. Expect snark, shade, and biting rumors in her interviews. Taylor's personality is not grating enough to merit an early elimination. Her placement will be highly affected by her performance in challenges.
Robbie Emmers- Nice Guy
We have prepared a more lengthy file for Robbie due to our prediction of a possible victory if he survives initial suspicion of his physical abilities and threat level. In a normal Games Robbie would have little chance to win but here his agreeability and trusting nature will be advantageous. Robbie will not require coaching or editing to provide sound bites. Give him room to lead his own interviews.
Amberlynn Hyde- Social Butterfly
We are prepping press releases and celebrations for a Nine victory, since Amberlynn is another frontrunner. If she survives possible initial awkwardness in physical challenges, her social intelligence will lead to excellence in alliance-making. She will likely be the linchpin of her alliance and will influence votes greatly. Amberlynn already knows the importance of publicity and will work with you in interviews. You can go so far as to tell her what angle you are looking for and even direct quotes.
Shepard Howard- Larger than Life
Shep is the "bizarre" contestant. What he lacks in grandiosity he makes up for in backstory. Audiences will want to hear about his unusual life, so make opportunities to showcase it. Encourage his natural accent and mannerisms to highlight his otherness. Take extra care in Shep's interviews since we predict he will last a long time due to his wilderness skills. Ensure any interview clips containing references to his faith are deleted.
Virgo Charleston- Crazy Cat Lady
People love an animal lover. We have already arranged to stock the area around the camp with ample wildlife to encourage film-worthy encounters. With only slight pushing from interviewers we are sure we can invite dissension between tribe-mates concerning their attitudes toward the wildlife they encounter. Despite this possible friction, Birdie's skills in first aid should ensure her safety past the early stages of the Games. Interviews should harp on Virgo's selfless and compassionate nature.
Clover Nguyen- The Puppeteer
Such an ominous name for such an unassuming Tribute. Clover's tactical mind will be aimed at solid alliances instead of the guerrilla warfare he is suspected of in Eleven. We anticipate a strong placement, especially if he joins forces with Amberlynn post-merge. Thus far Clover has not proven cinematic in person. He will need extra help from the editors. Perhaps use his interview clips over footage of dramatic events to bolster his presence.
Persimmon Caraway- Curmudgeon
Persi will make no effort to hide she is only here to get the most money possible for her family. We predict she will see no need to go all-out for victory and will instead seek a safe alliance to shield her for as long as possible to increase her prize money. Persi's on-screen presence has been noted by test audiences to be off-putting. Use audio clips more literally than video clips. She may be convinced to act as Val's love interest if told it will lengthen her stay.
Enzo Charmont- Entertainer
Our last duplicate. Enzo appears to be content with whatever placement he gets, being more concerned with how fun Survivor will be. Keep a camera on Enzo whenever possible- he will generate a wealth of entertaining moments. Since Enzo and Trayne are on the same tribe, there will be ample opportunities to encourage them to make mischief together, perhaps roping Dorian in as well. We predict Enzo will be eliminated halfway through the Games but hope he will pleasantly surprise us.
Josie Stone- Con Man
Interviews with Josie's neighbors unveiled the unexpected information that several storekeepers attest she is a menace and a trickster. Her carefully crafted answers to her interview questions lend credence to these accusations. For the moment we have decided to aid Josie in her duplicity, using endearing footage and interview clips. As opponents realize her deception we will have the opportunity to dramatically reverse her characterization and unveil a villain. Josie will likely be eliminated upon the others discovering her but may be able to con her way to the very top.
