Matthew Jones Pov:
"It wasn't too long ago me and Susan thought that we would want to parents before the zombie outbreak happen. We had everything from stable jobs as well people that respected us, though the idea wasn't floating around that much since they needed us for their help in making Seabrook perfect. Then the Dark Ages came and changed everything, along with Susan adopting Revenant after learning about his parents as well the meaning for his creation. Quickly enough sixteen years go by, and we return back to where it all started, then we became parents again with several other zombie kids that needed help. Finally, after all that time away the town had changed in more ways than anyone could have seen, leaving us to return and finally embrace its change. Susan still misses Rev since he's become a mature boy looking after Seabrook and has a relationship with a werewolf, still we got three zombie kids with powers to look after."
The Jones House-Morning
It was a busy morning right at the home of Revenant's human parents as the two were helping out with Cortex on managing his telekinetic abilities as he had several pebbles floating around and making them into shapes. While Sal and Mist were easy to help since they had managed to get pass the difficulties in adjusting to their abilities, Cortex was the only zombie to be looked after since he could flatten anything with his mind.
"Are you getting any headaches? If you are we can stop right now."
Susan offering him a choice in stopping since one of the things that she and Mathew did with Revenant was giving him time to take breaks from testing out his enhanced strength. Even if he was a zombie that could endure anything, he still needed to know he was normal as everyone else. Cortex didn't respond as he made the pebbles become different shapes as well changing every second. Though as he did, he loses focus as he lets go sending the pebbles flying around leaving the two to take cover.
"Damn it all!"
Shouted an irritated tone which came from Mist. The gaseous zombie girl who had her suit that contained her gas form safely contained crack as one of the pebbles that Cortex was using had landed on her mask. The humans looked over seeing how the zombie girl was upset as well glaring at what she had considered an 'adoptive' brother since they couldn't find out their parents during the outbreak at Seabrook.
"It's not that bad Mist. We have some reinforced glass that the mayor offered us after Sal helped out with that leakage issue in the sewers, its strong enough to handle whatever gets thrown at you."
Mathew bringing up about getting new modifications for Mist since she wanted to appear more 'lady' like and meet with others since the early prototypes had her move around like a tank. Staring at Cortex who felt sorry for cracking his sister's window, she sighs at him since he had more on his plate than her and Sal since they learned to manage themselves in meeting people.
"At least try and use something that won't become a speeding bullet please. Your my brother, but that doesn't mean I won't hesitate in giving you a head noogie."
Doing her best to not be mean to him but promising she'd get him back as Susan decided to take her into the house so they could get the new reinforced glass for her suit. Cortex on the other hand felt upset with how he had a moment of control to only then lose it after he felt at peace. Susan saw his frustration and stand by him just in case if he might lose focus and accidentally rip a tree off the ground and throw it in the air.
"Why am I so difficult? Sal is a fish zombie that's able to walk on alien and manage to withstand passing out since he needs water. Mist can ignore that she's living gas and needs an armored body to interact, me? One thought and I break something."
Questioning why out of the enhanced zombies that he seemed the most difficult to manage as he held the side of his head trying to figure out the reason. Susan knew this type of situation as well walked over to comfort him, sitting by his side not afraid of his powers. She shared a smile with him relating to what he was feeling and figuring out why he was different from the others.
"This was the same thing that Revenant had when he started to learn about his 'powers'. One time he broke the fridge trying to get a snack me and Mathew got together for the three of us to share, we came home and saw him holding the fridge door and looking so scared."
Bringing up a memory of how Revenant didn't having the best control of his strength and breaking everything around him. While it was impossible to replace the stuff that the zombie boy had broken since they weren't rich, they had to repair everything by hand. Yet it didn't bother her or made them upset at Rev breaking it, because it allowed her to get closer to him and understand him better.
"But I smiled, smiling at how I got to learn from him. Understand Rev better and help him become the zombie he is today, and while me and Mathew have been doing the same with you all. That doesn't make us afraid or anyone else in this town, cause no one is giving up on you."
Assuring him how even if he did something that would utterly ruin their lives and anyone in Seabrook. She'd still care for him like any mother would and help, for better or worse. Cortex understood her motives but still felt that he could hurt her or Mathew if he didn't feel self confident in his abilities, though only nodded to her accepting whatever assistance she or her husband can offer.
"Hey! The doc is making us sandwiches!"
Sal shouting from the inside as Cortex got excited about the sound of food after hearing Susan's story as he ran inside to check what sandwiches was made. Meanwhile, Susan took a moment to enjoy the fresh air seeing that it was good to have a moment with each of the kids. While also feeling sadden that she'd wish it that it was with Revenant in Seabrook when he was little, but still she took whatever she could to feel like a mother again. Heading back inside of the house to join up with the others, she heard something coming from the trees as it caught her attention.
"Hello? Is someone there?"
Questioning the person or creature that might be in the trees hiding as she felt a chill coming up from her spine about what might have been hiding in the bushes. Losing her nice side to getting serious, she looked at who was within the trees and stood her ground.
"I don't know whether if your a zombie that lost their wristbands, werewolf that's got rabies or even an alien that's angry. But right now you don't want to get me on my bad side when spying on my kids."
Sounding serious at towards the stranger since she had seen many things in Seabrook and in the past, as well not letting it anything intimidate her. Though as Susan continued to keep calm as well scare off whatever was happening behind the trees, a large crunch sound was made which took her off by surprise as it was heavy. More importantly from whatever made the sound was big, looking over to one of the tree's she saw a shadow slowly emerging from the side and coming out. Stepping back to look at the figure hiding behind the tree's, it was a large metal creature that was just her size. The one thing that stood out was how it had no head as well walking around aimless and coming towards Susan without knowing what was in front of it.
"Susan get back!"
Mathew shouting from behind her as she looked over seeing Sal rushing over and possibly about to body slam so the headless machine could fall. Though he was met with only a rebound as Sal flew back to the ground, the headless robot turned towards the fish zombie and was about to respond to the strange attack, not knowing from the side was Mist coming out of her suit and flying towards it.
"Care for a whiff my friend?"
Asking him as Susan pulled Sal back allowing Mist to use her gas powers to try and rust it's parts which would give the Jones time to call for help. The headless machine didn't do anything but was able to sense Mist around him, in which it quickly spun around in a circular motion as it was strong enough to make her come apart. Retreating back to her suit, Mathew came out holding what looked like a fashioned anti zombie gun that would be used to help detain out of control zombies and generating bolts of electricity.
"If you can hear than know this device can deactivate you in about ten seconds. So either stop now or I'm sending you to whatever scientist made you."
Threatening to fire his weapon the intruder if he wouldn't respond to his request as it remain still as well understand what he had said. Everyone took a moment to see what it would act towards them; the headless body only stood their looking around trying to gesture about something wrong with it. Cortex who kept hidden from the commotion and noticed how it wasn't acting them as he walked over to check it out for himself. Walking towards it and placing his hand out, the headless robot was able to sense the zombie boy's hand reaching towards him as it tries to touch his.
"Is it weird that this looks like something from those human movies you showed us about them being friends with the monsters and then going terribly wrong?"
Sal questioning the moment since it seemed like it could happen as Cortex was able to touch it's metallic hand. It took a few moments to understand what it wanted along why it was acting reckless, in which the brain zombie boy rushed out into the forest leaving the others to look confused at what he was doing. There was a scuffling happening in the bushes until the group saw Cortex coming out with what seemed to be the robot's head. It had unique design as the neck was shaped into a drill, along several acorns stuffed in its mouth as the zombie was able to get it out of him.
"Thank you boy, this town's squirrels are quite vicious. One minute I'm checking my systems and the next they take my head and leave my body to wander, good thing you have that telekinetic mind of yours to sense me."
Explaining what happened as well why his body was acting rampant like as Cortex walked over to hand the body back his head. Reacting to it's head, the headless body quickly screwed it back on letting the two become one again as the metal man smiled at the sight of him being together. Seeing the zombie children and humans staring at him in confusion, he seemed that an explanation was needed for the moment.
"Maybe we should take it off from the top. My name's Screw-On Head, I was once agent for Abraham Lincoln. And I've traveled a far to see if this Seabrook, or is this another town with sentient undead life?"
Introducing himself to the group and questioning if it was the town that had a unique background as well numerous people coming over to visit. The group was shocked at hearing him working for one of the presidents and possibly this being an secret agent in the eighteenth century, which had to be several hundred years. Meaning that whatever reason someone like came here had to be important, and would require their son along the others to see what urgency this might be about.
Later-Down the block
Having gotten an alarming call from his mother about someone coming to visit them in an unexpected fashion. Revenant brought with him a small group to help him figure out on what this might be about, it included Nightwing to help him figure if this was a supernatural matter along Zed and Addison to offer their input plus give 'robot' a proper Seabrook welcome.
"It can't be coincidence about this 'Screw-On Head' coming here. Might have to deal with a certain cloning issue that happen several days ago?"
Revenant bringing up the fiasco about what Addison did as she chuckled nervously about how she got in trouble with the aliens and how it was dangerous to use the meteor to make multiple clones of herself. Though was no time to spare on who was to blame as it somehow triggered the stranger that might be related to the meteor was here and at his adoptive parents home.
"I think the bigger question is how is it that there's someone who has a connection to something that came from outer space. Meaning whoever's in the house could be another alien living here on Earth."
Zed suggesting them to grasp the idea that Addison's people weren't the only aliens that came to Earth, as well the possibility that it was visited by others. It only made Rev grip his fist thinking about it since when his parents called him and explained about Screw-On Head, he could either be an alien robot design to infiltrate homes or an actual alien that was lying to them. Nightwing noticed how the zombie got and him thinking of the negative side before thinking of what the robot might be.
"Never go headfirst into conflict without knowing how it came to be, one of the lessons I remembered teaching you."
Informing him that he might not be a threat since if he had come from space and not attack any humans. He might be a friend, though Rev didn't want to take the chance. Heading to the door and preparing to see what exactly Screw-On Head might look like, Rev opened the door to see an unusual sight involving the enhanced zombies laughing with the metallic man along Susan coming over offering tea for the four.
"Honey, you took your time coming here. Came right at the end of our guest's story when he helped stopped a zombie from turning half of London into ghouls."
Sounding excited at it left Rev and the others confused at what was happening since most of them thought the call was serious from how Susan and Matthew sounded when Revenant was called by them. Yet it didn't seem to be like it, all it seem was a simple meet and greet with the robot acting like a gentleman. The only one that wasn't confused was Nightwing as he was able to recognize the metallic stranger, which at the same time Screw-On Head soon noticed the vampiric male.
"Fruitpire! It's been a while since we've last met, I remember you when you were small. Apologies for what happened to your people."
Responding to his presence as he walked over to shake his hand as Nightwing did the same, though the look on his face showed otherwise as he knew his background. Zed and Addison were surprised at meeting an actual robot that was a part of the president's secret service, though what made them curious was his neck since it was shaped like a screw.
"Sorry it's just, when Rev's parents described you it sounded like a cartoon. But your neck is an actual screw, does that mean you can pop onto other bodies?"
Zed getting fascinated him along Addison since it was exciting to meet someone new and outside of Seabrook that seemed different than most people. Rev did a cough towards them trying to focus on why there was metal man here in the first place, in which Nightwing could help explain things further due to his history.
"If he hadn't told the rest of you, his true title is 'The Amazing Screw-On Head'. America's secret weapon against paranormal occult and mysteries that no normal investigator could handle. He met my people during a mission that involved an old enemy of his, Madam."
Summarizing his background along an old flame of his that he had to deal with long time ago. Screw-On Head remembered the vampire woman well as he could still recollect it like if it was yesterday, the vampire mistress wanted to turn the Fruitpire clan into her personal army. Fortunately, he came in to stop her and avoid her commanding an army of bat warriors, though she escaped through his metallic fingers and had remain hidden for centuries.
"Indeed, my friend. Though lately I've been worked by myself in the affairs of the unknown, especially hearing rumors of a town filled with zombies handling matters of grave matters. The awakening of an ancient Mayan god, the serpent Leviathan and most importantly aliens visiting here."
Stating to them about how he seemed to have retired from the White House secret service and went on his own to look after unnatural occurrences. With how he made it sound, the news of their adventures had gotten too noticeable and had gotten his attention. Walking over to sit down with him being looked at, Addison would have to add her part in the moment since she could figure out why he might be here.
"Is this about the cloning problem that happened several weeks ago? The meteorite is destroyed and the weapon my clones made as well, it's kind of surprising that I had that type of imagination to make a death ray."
She explained about how it could be about what she had done and getting his attention. Revenant and Nightwing remained quiet since they got detection from a familiar signature coming here, though they didn't expect it coming from a retired agent from Washington. He chuckled lightly at what the girl had brought and didn't seem to mind for it as his chest opened up, everyone got surprised by him along with having what looked like the same rock that the meteor came from.
"I've handled that type of incident before, it brings the host darkest parts out. I used a fragment I kept from it to help find Seabrook, possibly to discuss a certain matter that has come. Revolving something similar to me arriving in Seabrook."
Informing them how what happened with Addison wasn't her fault but the rock's which made the blue haired girl relieved at hearing that. Taking a moment to place the rock back inside of his chest, he opened his arm showing what looked like several photos to them as he placed it around the table.
"Sheesh, these photos look like they came from a camera. Ever heard of a digital photography?"
Sal asking him which Mathew gave him a look seeing how it wasn't the time since his equipment was old school and seemed impossible to adapt to the new century's technology. While he may have been old school, it was still effective as they took a moment in taking a closer look at the photos. They saw a blurry figure which was big, furry and had claws that ripped apart fences as well random locations.
"For the past weeks there had been mysterious attacks by what locals call a 'Robot Space Bear'. They claim it's from space due to its antennas, I've been tracking and believe it might be coming here."
Screw-On Head explaining the true reason behind coming here which had most of the room questioning the animal coming to Seabrook due to how each place it's been to was close to town. While this creature seemed dangerous and somewhat unstoppable, there was another matter that had to be brought up.
"Wouldn't it be 'Bear Space Robot'? Because the majority goes from bear to space and then robot? Cause you have to start from the body and go to the top."
Mist making an assumption about how it should be called since she looked at its body and claimed that it was bear as well coming from space. Then suddenly a conversation began to brew up about what it should be called since it couldn't be from space due to how it was acting or that it might be looking for something. Continuing to prattle on what to call the bear, Cortex rose his hand which made Revenant clapped his hand seeing how there was something his fellow enhanced zombie friend wanted to say.
"Should you all start setting up security if the Robot Space Bear will be coming to Seabrook. Or that it might be here already in the woods?"
Asking about how it could be here since if it was an alien, it could have great intelligence and hide its presence here without anyone knowing. This got the gang worried as Zed and Addison rushed out to possibly warn their friends about the bear along Revenant since he'd have to contact Brit about the animal attack. While the three headed off, Screw-On Head and Nightwing were the last ones to walk out as the two stood in silence seeing them going to tell the others about the surprise visit.
"You're not telling him. That's my responsibility."
Nightwing informing the metal man about an urgent matter that seemed more important than the bear creature roaming around in Seabrook as he sounded serious at him. Screw-On Head looked around the neighborhood taking a moment to seeing humans and zombies socializing with one another, in which was sight to see since he'd never imagine two species coexisting together.
"Then you have to do it soon, otherwise this town that I dreamt up of living in will eventually be unprepared for what's coming. And I'll have tell the young man why you came here, why. You trained him."
Screw-On Head responded back Nightwing how he knew the real reason why he came to Seabrook to help Revenant in learning how to look after his town and friends. How he had made him strong to handle things that would break a human's will, most importantly. How to show someone mercy even to an opponent who had no regard for one's innocence or anything that was good. The Fruitpire only groaned in frustration before heading off to help his friends with the search, meanwhile. The metal man's head spun around to look back at the Jones who saw him as the last one standing in front of their house.
"Mr. and Ms. Jones, you have raised a fascinating zombie. I hope he is what the stories are, there are many people interested in him."
Complementing the two as his head turned around face forward before joining with the search. The parents heard the men's conversation as well had a private discussion with him about Revenant, especially how it seemed there was people who were curious about him and Seabrook. They were afraid at how their son would take it, since it would change his as well the others perspective to how much the town's reputation had grown outside of it's area.
Introducing the 'Amazing Screw-On Head' from Dark Horse Comics. His comics are available to everyone if they want to learn more about him, along how he could help the Z-Gang once they face the Robot Space Bear.
