Zed Pov:

"It's common for most people who are new to Seabrook to share a story or two from the outside world about things that haven't come to us yet. Though to have one from one of our own and to not share it was something nobody was a fan of, due to the secrets the town had kept from the past. Particularly the one that Nightwing had due to his history with Screw on the head after he had left town with the robot space bear. For a while, we believed that he came to town in the hopes of helping Rev in making a connection between humans and monsters. However, there seems to be more to his case which has left a possible strain on their teamwork. After the Halloween event and New Year started, Rev decided to spend some distance away from him along with Sentinel to try and be like any normal zombie. Which involves helping me at Seabrook High with the new football team that's taking my place, luckily I'm acting as a substitute coach while Rev is my assistant. Maybe having a bit of football training could get his mind out of the supernatural life he had developed and take it easy for a bit."

Morning-Seabrook High

With school starting up and having free time on his hands for a while, Zed was contacted by Principal Lee to help the new football team since they were a combination of multiple species. It was lucky that he could ask Rev for help since there weren't any unusual cases happening in the town that needed his help, more or less if he wanted to offer a hand due to what happened last Halloween. He was right now near the benches where Zed was standing in front of the new mighty shrimp football team. Most of the team involves humans, zombies, werewolves, and even aliens. It left his hands full as well as many ideas for making them the best team since he became the first nonhuman member of the football team.

"Okay, team. While the regular coach is home sick after eating a case of bad froyo, Principal Lee has asked me to help train you in working together as a team. Along with combining your natural abilities in winning the game."

Zed announced optimistically as it was a sight-seeing a unique lineup to represent the school spirit and handle outside football teams. On the sideline was Revenant who was checking out the football and not saying anything as he wanted to keep to himself for the time being. Just as Zed was looking over drills for the team to practice, one of the zombie players raised their hands to try and have a question answered.

"How come we can't use our actual abilities? Wouldn't that be easier than just doing training?"

The linebacker questioned that despite them being physically fit and could run laps, it would have been easier for all of them to let out their inner monster and run all over any teams that came to challenge them. Hearing small laughter from the back coming from Revenant on remembering Zed using his zombie strength in the past to the zombie community in getting a positive impact on the town. Sighing at the laugh coming from his friend, Zed decided to answer the question that came from the zombie quarterback.

"While many of us believe it is easier to do that. It's important to know the consequences of using those types of abilities, I was once involved in that happening and almost cost zombies to be properly welcomed into Seabrook. Plus where's the fun in going full zombie? The mighty shrimp have never needed any special talents to handle anyone, because together you all can do anything."

He offered a speech about how it wasn't always fun to have an edge over the rival team as well as that it could have consequences that would affect the image. Mostly it was to make sure they didn't make the mistake he made in the past, especially adding that all they needed was teamwork and relying on each other to win the game.

"The best way to work as a team. Is by learning how to get the ball from an impossible spot where it lands, which in this case. Top of the roof. Whoever gets it doesn't have to do laps."

Revenant told them as he threw the football behind him and it flew right onto one of the trees. With how it got stuck onto the branches, it took everyone to focus on figuring out a way to get it down. The team grumbled at the challenge as well that they couldn't get it down without using alien technology, werewolf prowess, and especially zombie strength. Walking over to figure out how to get the ball out of the tree, Zed decided to see how Revenant was doing since he didn't say anything while he was doing the talking.

"While the new team is handling on getting the football. Might want to talk about how things are going at home. With Wynter. Maybe even Nightwing."

Starting the conversation of what's been happening with him since he was right now going alright with Addison since they've been helping out Seabrook with the time they had on their hands. Revenant however had seemed out of the picture since he'd usually check up on the new monsters that were living in town. The last sentence that Zed spoke out left the glasses wearing zombie to groan at the question since it was complicated for him to explain.

"You mean my mentor who's possibly kept secrets from me? Despite believing I could help others he couldn't help me realize why he was here. We're not talking currently. Me and Wynter? She thought taking me hunting could help me ignore what's happened last year."

Responding with a long response of not speaking to the Fruitpire and deciding to learn lessons from Wynter since spending time with her would be the best thing for him. Zed could tell there was much distance between the two as well as how secretive he was being, especially since in the beginning he was the one keeping his adoptive who were scientists a secret from him.

"Has he contacted you? Maybe to talk about the reason?"

Zed asked if Nightwing had the opportunity to explain what exactly he'd been keeping secret from him. Rev shook his head about having been contacted by him since the New Year started, especially how he's been keeping to himself after Screw-on Head left Seabrook.

"The only one I would go to in learning about this Baba Yaga. But that's asking for more trouble since she's laughing right now with the new visits we're getting. The town's been a movie marathon for her."

Describing that he was tempted to speak with the Slavic witch since she'd tell him the truth which would leave him even more stressed out. While he didn't visit her that often due to the offerings Baba Yaga requested from her guests, Zed knew going to her would be trouble.

"Whether or not it's the right choice. It's your decision since Nightwing was the one who came here to teach you to protect others, even if you don't trust him. You have to know if you want to look for an answer on your own than asking him straight forward."

Offering advice about how Revenant should handle it since Nightwing was one of the only individuals to see the potential in him for looking after humans and monsters that wanted to have peace. Lowering his head at the response and seeing that Zed was right on him deciding if he wanted to know the truth or not, he was up to him if he wished to know the reason for his secrets. The moment was interrupted by the sound of tired panting and exhaustion as the two zombies saw the football team coming back covered in leaves and branches on their uniforms.

"Might I say it was a terrific opportunity to learn about how the team managed to get the ball. We formulate a plan to retrieve the ball, the humans and zombies finding the right branches to break off without hurting the tree. Leaving the werewolves the chance to get the ball intact."

One of the alien teammates explained how the team was able to get the ball without any of them using their abilities so that the team could learn they were all equal when they handled a situation. Throwing the ball over to Revenant for the zombie to see that there were no thorns or any type of damage to the ball, left the zombie to smile at the resilience of the team's effort in bringing it back.

"Impressive. Maybe some froyo is in order if Zed doesn't have any more practices that he had planned for you all."

He suggested a reward as the team looked at Zed to see if that was true which left him to look at Revenant for putting him in the spotlight. Taking a second to look over at the clipboard and see several things that their coach had for the team, Zed blew his whistles to get the team started on drills so they could finish them in time for the sweets they were promised.

"You're a good friend Zed. Thanks for the advice."

Revenant complimented him and patted him on the shoulder as he made his way to handle the issue while leaving Zed to smile at the advice he gave him. Taking his leave and walked behind the bleachers where he felt someone in the shadows watching him, not even reacting to the stranger. He knew it was Nightwing as it had seemed he had listened to the conversation that he and Zed had despite not talking to him for several months.

"Revenant."

"Nightwing."

The two said their names respectfully since it had been a while since they had been around each other. Seeing how there was a tense feeling happening between the two, they began to walk down the street where no one had seemed to notice them since they were keeping to themselves. They didn't say anything during the moment they met with one another as the two made their way into the forest, knowing what exactly they wanted to do.

"If it means anything Rev, I planned on telling you in January. On what exactly I was training you for, especially after what happened when Leviathan attacked."

He stated to Revenant about how his training was being aimed at something important as well as how he would want to tell him after handling the Ceto incident. The zombie said nothing but knew he meant it, but never had the chance to tell him before the arrival of others like him coming to Seabrook. Reaching the darkest part of the forest where there wasn't any light to get through the trees, they arrived at Baba Yaga's home which was right now settling in around the wildlife. Before Revenant could knock on the door, it quickly opens up showing the inside of the house.

"Let's go get some answers then."

He spoke out as Rev walked in first with the fruitpire following behind as the door closed on them quickly in a dramatic manner. The pair walked into the dining room where they smelled dinner being made for just the occasion. Taking the liberty to sit down in the chairs, they saw the witch coming out holding a pot of soup for them.

"I was wondering when you two would show up. So far it has been long since I had seen you boy, especially how skinny you look."

Baba Yaga responded to how she had last spoken to him during the alien arrival where she found him in the ruins of Old Seabrook. The same with Nightwing since they last met when he learned about taking one of Leviathan's body parts as a trinket from the conflict. They said nothing as she gave them both bowls of soup as well sat in front of the head table where she looked at the pair as she noticed hostility towards each other.

"Thank you for the meal Baba Yaga. But I came here for questions that both of you have seem to the answers to, including where my training is going exactly. Along with whom my 'mentor' had met in the past before coming to Seabrook."

The young man told her about Nightwing's teaching and the possibility of her knowing the same information about what's been going on recently. She breathed in deeply seeing the green-eyed zombie serious about his question and needing to know the truth. Though the answers she'd give him would change his perspective on what he does for Seabrook, including who comes to see the town with it being occupied by numerous species.

"For a while since I've lived amongst the outskirts of Seabrook. While humans may have turned into zombies by human science, they do have a connection to the unnatural side. Specifically, the soul."

Starting off her explanation as she waved her finger around Revenant's bowl which showed a human figure with a soul, in which it shows the human changing into a zombie that still had the soul with them. While Rev might have lost his appetite from the soup, there was a connection she was trying make for the zombie to understand.

"When your town's humans became zombies, they died but kept their souls. You have died twice and still have it, which is not. Acceptable."

She warned him on that he has been the first death that has occurred in Seabrook since the dark ages that first created the zombies. Neither he nor even the community knew about this, though he saw from Nightwing's face that he knew this secret. The fruitpire saw how it was his turn as he decided to add on to this startling news.

"When that happens. There's someone that guides those souls to the afterlife, that someone. Is a figure that has dealt with more pain and lost than anyone in the world, and most creatures know the name but dread it. As well the business of collecting souls."

Nightwing told Revenant in a sadden tone due to the fear the boy saw in both of them since there was one being that was responsible for guiding souls into the afterlife. Before he could deny the thought of who exactly they were talking about, Baba Yaga taps the bottom of her pestle that brought out a book of individuals that had affected both the human world and supernatural. Opening the cover and moving across the pages, she points her finger to a page where it shows a white skin woman. Pure white flesh with matching hair, eyes showing no emotion and wearing a black cloak that covered her body.

"Lady Death? There's an actual death that exists and she's going come after me?"

Revenant asking straight out on the idea of an actual representation of the grim reaper existed and would be coming for him due to dying on the beach and survived. Having trouble accepting the concept, Nightwing could tell how it was stressing him out due to not thinking anyone wanted to come after him for surviving.

"I learned about her from Screw-On head during my travels around the world, especially how he taught me the people who keep the balance between the living and dead. Much like Cassie or even Tiki Zombie, they each have a responsibility in protecting the lives. Hers is maintaining no soul leaves her attention."

Explaining to him that the individuals that came to Seabrook have done numerous actions in protecting lives. Whether they did it in a peaceful or aggressive manner, each of them made sure no evil harmed an innocent life. It took a while for Revenant to accept this and how he was right to be worried of newcomers coming to Seabrook. Before he could say anything to the two, his phone began to ring as well showed a text message that came from Eliza. Taking a moment to read it as well seeing how it was perfect timing for him to read it, the zombie looks back at Nightwing and Baba Yaga with now confident expression on his face.

"Then I guess I should explain to her that I'm on humanity's side."

Responding to the threat of her finding a way to take him as Revenant walked away and to the door in which Baba Yaga opens the door for him as he didn't see where exactly he was going. Nightwing looked at the witch for aiding him since he didn't realize what he was getting into, more importantly that there was something on his phone that gave him the opportunity in seeing Lady Death. Which made it more terrifying if Revenant knew what he was walking into.

Later-The Big House

Right now at the Sentinel's base where they kept numerous creatures that either wanted to find a home in Seabrook or attempted to cause trouble for its public was a science project happening. In the laboratory was Eliza and Addison working on a device that could be the first in instant transportation, though Brit had her doubts since she wasn't fond of the idea.

"I'm not exactly sure that the aliens would be fond of teleporting since they already have one."

She reminded the two on the dangers of making an earth based teleporting machine since there had been books and movies based on the consequences on this project. Walking into the lab at the time was Apex along with Willa, Wynter and Zed with several parts for the machine.

"Which is why I was asked to help ensure it. Despite my muscular physic I am an expert in handling teleporting equipment, before I became a peacekeeper for my people."

He explained to the Sentinel leader due to the others being busy with their own matters, he'd be happy to indulge them on the project in order to avoid any accidents. Having getting the right cables for the device and hooking it up to Eliza's laptop, it had seemed everything was hooked up and ready to be tested.

"So what exactly are we going use to test it out? Sure enough I know you got some creeps here that wouldn't mind being sent somewhere far away from Seabrook."

Willa commenting on the cells that Brit had several inmates that could do for a ride somewhere away from Seabrook. While they could go to the aliens for help, it was important no one knew about the alien's presence since it would draw attention from the outside world. While everyone was working on the machine, Wynter wanted to speak with Zed about her boyfriend who was with him in the morning.

"Has Revenant been okay? When I last saw him he looked depressed, not like last night after we scared off a rival football team that wanted to prank the town. Did he help out with the new football team?"

She asked in a concern tone about how the zombie has been lately despite him having his family and friends around. There was something different him when the New Year started and taking a moment to be with her along with his parents to avoid his work. Zed nodded to confirm he was doing better when he met up with him at the field, since it was important Revenant was back to his normal self if anything happened in Seabrook.

"He just needs to be around us more. As far as I know with him, Rev is perfectly okay."

Answering her on how he was doing after the talk he had with him at the football field. Taking a moment to look at the machine that the others had hooked up, the group heard some cluttering sounds coming from the closet as well grunting. Confused by what was happening within the closet, they saw Revenant walking out dazed and surprised how he manage to appear from in their without anyone noticing.

"If your going ask. Baba Yaga, just had some soup with her and learned how to handle an issue I've somehow got into."

He told them quickly as Revenant noticed the teleportation machine hooked up and operational to be tested on. Walking over to Eliza's laptop and read the instructions on how the machine operated, including that it required an item to help designate where the user wanted to be sent.

"What situation? Having soup with Baba Yaga? What exactly are you talking about Rev?"

Brit trying to figure out what the zombie meant by his quick explanation on arriving here and questioning a problem he's in. Everyone wanted to try and stop their anxious friend due to him moving around the machine where he takes off his amulet and places it in the scanner.

"I can't exactly get into it. But Nightwing is going to explain it all, I just need you to trust me."

Responding towards his friends and walking over to Wynter where he gave her a tense hug seeing how it was fortunate she was here. The werewolf was confused at how he was acting which change to being afraid as she didn't want to let go of him.

"Whatever she told you back at that house means we need to handle it. Because you know pack is stronger together than apart Revenant, that's what you agreed to when you started dating one of my own."

Willa reminded him of a responsibility in being a part of a werewolf pack meaning whatever problems he had, they'd handled. Though it extended to everyone in the room for how far he's done for both Seabrook and everyone in the room. While he wanted to explain about who might be coming after him and getting a huge reaction out of this, Rev had to put it out in a way they could understand what he was doing.

"This is different from anything we've handled. More importantly I can't go dragging anyone else in without getting an explanation from someone who's lived longer than anyone in the room. But know I'm coming back, because there's no place that can keep me away from all of you."

Announcing he had to do this alone and would come back to them so they wouldn't have to go after him. Holding Wynter's hands showing how committed he was in coming back to her no matter what he was doing. Seeing how strong he used those words as well assuring her that he'd be back, Wynter only nodded and leans her forehead against his giving Rev her trust in keeping the promise.

"Rev? Just where exactly are you going to?"

Eliza asked the zombie's destination as it was making her teleportation machine act up on how it was unable to pinpoint on the location the amulet was scanning. With how it was reacting and possibly combust, Rev jumped into the machine and was ready to be teleported to where he was going to. That was until Zed rushed in with him as the door closed automatically which at the exact moment, a bright red light came from the machine and made both teleport at the same time. The gang looked at Addison who was confused on letting her boyfriend go off with Revenant despite on what he said.

"He's his friend. And he could use the extra help for what could be happening, how bad can it be?"

Questioning what exactly Rev might be heading to as they suddenly heard the door open wide and seeing a tired Nightwing who ran here all the way from Baba Yaga's home to here. He was out of breath as well looked upset at the witch keeping him away from stopping Revenant from using the machine. On how they saw him upset and not being here in time to stop the impatient zombie, left them all to fear where exactly Revenant and Zed were going.

Unknown Location

In a vast emptiness of shadow and dismay, across the ground was razored rocks and skulls as large as a mountain. Right in the middle of the field was a spark of energy appearing that suddenly revealed Revenant and Zed appearing out of thin air and hitting ground roughly. The two zombies almost felt like the air from their lungs had vanished as well unable to get their minds straight due to their arrival, but then were suddenly settled after gaining their senses.

"Zed. If I wasn't almost about to pass out, I'm going kick your butt. I told you all I could handle this!"

Shouting in anger towards the football athlete on doing this impulsive act despite telling him and everyone in the room that he'd be back. Zed, who had finally had the chance to breath decided to respond back towards his shouting.

"Consider this a lesson I learned from you on handling things on your own. Which is you come back half bruised and more distant away from everyone, so apologies for not having your back."

He answered back that he wouldn't let Rev go off to whatever he was heading to without help which was exactly where they were right now. Only where the zombies were at felt like a nightmare in which it seemed the confident zombie would regret saying he could handle this alone. They barely noticed a large figure approaching from the back as they turned around to see what looked like a troll with torn off skin.

"Meat!"

It shouted with hunger in its eyes as well holding a whip with spikes at the end. Revenant was ready to handle it but was quickly whipped to the side like if he was a fly, Zed was surprised by the action and turns off his Z-band to let out his inner zombie strength to attack the brute. Delivering a strong punch towards its chest, the creature only chuckled at his attempt and kicks him to Revenant's side.

"What kind of place is it to have these types of beasts?"

Zed asked as he helped Revenant up to either try and continue the fight or make a run for it in an attempt to escape. They didn't expect seeing a large hammer appearing from the brute's back side and crushing it with one blow. The headless corpse collapsed on the ground and revealed the zombie's mysterious savior, who was large man with a hood covering his face. He had red eyes that glowed like rubies, his clothing looking that of a barbarian while having a set of tools around his belt.

"Where else for the damned to punished? Hell."

The stranger asked Zed's question which left his face to fall in fear of where they were right now. Revenant's reaction was out of anger due to how this was why he didn't want Zed to come with him. Soon enough around them, they could hear the laughter of the undead and roars of creatures all around them. The hammer wielding giant remained silent of how he knew of their arrival, along the visitation Revenant had with his mistress. Which he would beg for not coming here if didn't survive the journey that lied ahead of him.
