Opening the Sport Festival with a Tight Start
The scene opens up to Class 1-A in the waiting room getting themselves ready for the festival to start and trying to be brave, but there is an issue that one of them is having at the moment.
"Aw, man. I was totally hoping I could wear my costume." Mina complained as she and the rest of her class are going to be wearing their P.E. uniform for the majority of the Sports Festival.
"At least everyone'll be in uniform. That'll keep things fair, right?" Mashirao pointed out.
"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round?" Rikido asked nervously, holding his hands tightly together.
"No matter what they've prepared, we must persevere." Fumikage said.
"Right." Mezo nodded.
"Everyone, get your game faces on! We're entering the arena soon!" Tenya announced.
"Swallow your fear, swallow your fear, swallow your fear!" Minoru told himself, pretending to literally swallow his fear to make himself scared of the pressure.
Izuku took in a deep breath and clear his mind of anything that makes him doubt himself or any other negative thoughts for he has one goal in mind, and that is to win the festival with everything he got with One for All he got from All Might and the dragon power from Tohru. This sports festival is going to be his debut to show the world what kind of hero he is.
"Midoriya." Shoto walked up to him.
"Hey Todoroki, what's up?" Izuku asked, everyone became curious to see what Shoto want from him.
"From an objective standpoint, I think it's fairly clear that we are somewhat equal to each other though I'm still ahead of you." Shoto mentioned this power scaling.
"Uh, yeah, you might be right about that." Izuku said, but not entirely sure what Shoto is going with this.
"However, you've got All Might in your corner, helping you out." Shoto mentioned shocking Izuku.
"(How does he know that I'm close with All Might?)" Izuku thought wondered.
"I'm not here to pry about what's going on between you two." Shoto stated, that put Izuku at ease a little.
"But know that I will beat you." Shoto declared his war on Izuku causing the dragon boy to gasp as this also shocks the others.
"What's with these declarations of war lately?" Denki asked.
"Yeah, what's the big deal? Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get started…" Eijiro asked, placing a hand on Shoto's shoulder but he shrugs it off.
"We're not here to be each other's friends. Don't forget. This isn't a team effort." Shoto reminded them what they're here for as he walks away.
"Wait a sec, Todoroki." Izuku said, getting the half color hair boy to stop and look at him.
"I don't know what's going through your head or why you think you'd need to tell me that you'll beat me. And yeah, of course, you're better than me. In fact, you probably have way more potential than anyone in the hero course. That's why you got in so easily." Izuku admitted honestly.
"Midoriya, maybe you're being a little hard on yourself, and us." Eijiro tried to calm him down.
"No, he's right, you guys. All the other courses—they're going in and take on the festival with everything they got." Izuku said. He then remembers the words he said to All Might during their ten months of training before the UA entrance exam.
"I wanna be the world's greatest hero!"
Those words are still deep in his heart, the determination he has been carrying throughout his days since then and before onward.
"We're all gonna have to fight to stand out. And I'll be aiming for the top too." Izuku determined with his dragon eyes looking sharper at Shoto.
Shoto suddenly felt a tiny bit of fear from those eyes, it's almost like he's staring at a real giant dragon looking down at him seeing if he is truly worthy of a challenge. Shoto himself to not let the others know he just got scared from Midoriya.
"Fine." Shoto said, looking forward to crushing him. And showing "that man" how strong he is with just his ice.
(Arena Field)
"Hey-O! Make some noise, all you rabid sports fans!" Present Mic shouted excitedly as he appeared on the big screen and the crowd screams.
"Get those cameras prepared, media ordes! This year, we're bringing you some of the hottest performances in UA's festival history, guaranteed!" Present Mic cheered speaking from the announcement booth with Aizawa.
"I've only got one question before we start the show: Are you ready?" Present Mic asked like a Rockstar at a concert and audience screams.
"Let me hear ya scream as our students make their way to the main stage!" Present Mic said.
"I can feel papa coming!" Kana pointed at one of the exit tunnels.
"Oh, this is so excited! I never thought we would be able to get some good seats right inside the UA Sports Festival!" Inko smiled, she and her family have been given special beating to watch the sports festival.
"We're here!" Chaos Drago cheered as she and the other two dragon women entered the seating booth.
"Did we miss anything?" Tohru asked Inko.
"No, they're just starting." Inko answered.
"Glad you could join us." Shouta greeted, sitting in the same seating both his Kobayashi mom.
"I didn't expect to see you guys here." Quetzalcoatl smiled at the two.
"My wife is one of the teachers in UA High, so she got us special passes to come here and said that she's going to be chief umpire for the first years." Kobayashi explained.
"Chief umpire? What does that mean?" Elma asked curiously.
"It means she'll act at the referee for the event." Kobayashi answered.
Toshinori is sitting with the other teachers of UA High as they are waiting for the hero course students to come out first, the number 1 hero in secret is having thoughts about how Young Midoriya is going to do in his first participate in the UA Sports Festival and how much of an impact he's gonna do.
"(Young Midoriya, you must introduce yourself to the world, and proudly say "I am here!".)" Toshinori thought believed strongly in that boy.
Then not another second later, all of Class 1-A exit the tunnel hallway revealing themselves to everyone here along with more fireworks going off high into the sky.
"All Might, I won't let you down." Izuku said to himself.
"Welcome back to the UA Sports Festival! Where up-and-coming heroes leave on the field as they fight for the chance to achieve worldwide fame and celebrity!" Present Mic greeted with his usual grin.
"The first group are no strangers to the spotlight. You know them from withstanding a villain attack—they're the dazzling students lighting up your TVs with solid gold skills! That's right, it's the Hero Course students of Class 1-A!" Present Mic announced, getting the crowd to cheer for them loudly.
"Uh… I didn't know there'd be so many people." Izuku said nervously.
"I hope we're still able to give our best performance, even though all these eyes are watching us. I suppose it's just another aspect of being a hero we all have to learn to get used to." Tenya believed this is what his big brother has to go through.
"Present Mic sure did talk us up a lot. Kinda makes me nervous. How you feelin', man?" Eijiro asked Katsuki.
"I'm not worried. Makes me wanna win this thing even more." Katsuki grinned.
"They haven't been getting nearly as much screen time, but this next group is still chock full of talent. Welcome, hero course Class 1-B!" Present Mic announced as Class 1-B comes out into the open.
"Next up, general studies looking to have their chance to make themselves known. Classes C, D, E! Support classes with the inspiration of making gadgets, F, G, and H! And finally, the business classes with the means to make some profits, I, J, and K!" Present Mic introduced the rest of the courses.
"Give it up for all of UA's first-year contestants!" The crowd cheered for the students, telling them to give it their all.
"I get the feeling we're just here to make the hero students look better." One male General Study student complained.
"I can't wait for this to be over with." One female student from the General Study course said.
"Shut the fuck up, you losers. Did you already forget what that dragon guy said back then. Seems to me like you guys still haven't taken in on what he said." Hitoshi scolded his classmates, causing them to look down in shame.
"(I won't disrespect you like that, Midoriya. But make no mistake, I will win.)" Hitoshi thought determined as he glances over at Izuku.
"Now, the introductory speech!" A woman announced on the small white stage.
"Whoa! This year's chief umpire for the first years is the R-Rated Hero, Midnight!" One hero excited from the audience seats as he along with some other heroes blushed including some females too.
"Amazing!" One hero with an alien head mask said blushing as some of the other men and women look at her.
"Seriously, the other years don't know what they're missing." One hero with a black helmet chuckled.
"Uh, someone should talk to Ms. Midnight about what she's wearing." Eijiro said, blushing a little as some of the other students are also blushing.
"Yeah, that costume should come with a warning." Denki nodded.
"Is that really appropriate apparel for a high school game?" Fumikage asked.
"You know, I always wonder how your wife is even allowed to wear that as her hero costume." Inko said to Kobayashi who chuckles.
"Be really thankful that you haven't seen what her first hero costume was like back in those days. That costume only was the only reason why regulations were made to limit the amount of skin that can be exposed for hero costumes." Kobayashi explained.
Minoru seems to be one of the very few people who approves of Midnight's hero costume with a shaken thumbs up.
"Silence! And for the student pledge, we have Katsuki Bakugo!" Midnight announced, shocking most of Class 1-A.
"Uh… He's the first-year rep?" Izuku was confused, he would have thought that Tenya would be the one giving the speech.
"I guess that hot-head did finish first in the entrance tests." Hanta mentioned.
"Honestly, I was expecting someone else in the hero course to give a speech." One General Study girl said as she looks over at Izuku.
"Huh, is she looking at me?" Izuku asked.
"Dude, you gave one hell of a speech of your own back there. Everyone was going to hate us, but you talk down the hate." Denki said with a thumbs up.
"I just hope Bakugo doesn't do anything to mess that up." Hanta glared at Katsuki.
Katsuki got in front of the microphone, taking in a few seconds to look at all the people on the audience seats as they are looking back at him while all of the other students are waiting for thim to speak.
And he only spoke seven simple words.
"I just wanna say… I'm gonna win." Katsuki said.
"(I knew he'd say something like that?!)" Class 1-A thought freaked out gasping.
Then there were some booings from several of the students from other courses that got mad at Katsuki for saying something like he's better than everyone here.
"Why would you be so disrespectful? You're representing us all!" Tenya did not like how Katsuki said in that short speech.
"Not my fault the rest of you are just steppingstones to my victory." Katsuki said, giving his own class a thumbs up.
"I'm gonna crush this overconfident jerk! I can't wait to knock him down a size!" The sliver hair guy from Class 1-B angered, clutching his fist.
"(I don't think it is overconfidence. The old Kacchan would have laughed while saying that, making it a joke. This is him pushing himself.)" Izuku thought noticed that slight change in behavior.
Katsuki walks past Izuku with a bump on his shoulder with his own but not looking at him in the eyes.
"(And may be turning all the rest of us into targets at the same time.)" Izuku thought sighed a little.
"I never like that guy. Too exploding and full of himself, I hope Izuku buries that guy in these games." Tohru glared at Katsuki with a growl.
"And that kid is supposed to be Izuku's friend?" Elm questioned this while eating some popcorn.
"Well, they used to be friends and then stuff happened…" Inko exclaimed nervously.
"Without further ado, it's time for us to get started!" Midnight announded.
"UA really doesn't believe in letting us catch a breath, huh?" Ochaco commented.
"This is where you begin feeling the pain! This first fateful game of the festival!" Midnight said and a big holographic screen appeared behind her doing roulette spinning to pick out the first game.
"What could it be?" Midnight asked excitedly, then after a moment the roulette stops.
"Ta-da!" Midnight yelled smiling. The first game is going to be an obstacle race for everyone.
"So, it's gonna be an obstacle course." Izuku said.
"All 11 classes will participate in this treacherous contest. The track is four kilometers around the outside of the stadium. I don't want to retrain anyone, at least in this game. As long as you don't leave the course, you're free to do whatever your hearts desires!" Midnight explained as locked her lips.
"Now then, take your places, contestants." Midnight gestured over to the starting line gate.
"If I understand this right, those kids are allowed to use their Quirks on each other or in any other advantage in the race so as long as it's within the racing course." Elma said.
"You got it down right." Shouta nodded.
"Although you won't see all of them use their Quirk at once, some of them would like to save their energies for the next game or so in order to really make themselves shine." Shouta explained.
"Shine?" Kana imagined everyone making themselves shiny like diamonds or even a star.
The students are standing and waiting at the big red gate as the starting line of the obstacle race as there is only a few moments away for the race to start.
"(All Might, I will do my best!)" Izuku thought promised his mentor.
"(Tohru, Lucoa, I promise the help you girls gave me with my dragon side won't be wasted.)" Izuku thought promised to his two dragon girlfriends as well.
"(I have to be smart about this. I'm still not able to control One for All just yet, but Lucoa provided me something that I might be able to work. But even so, I have to be careful when I use it.)" Izuku thought knew he's gonna have to be careful with using All Might's Quirk.
One green light went off and only two are left.
"(That means… I have to go beyond.)" Izuku thought knew what he has to do.
The second green light went out, one more remaining.
Everyone is waiting and feeling edgy on how the start of this race is going to be like.
"(I hope you all are watching!)" Izuku thought readied himself to give this race everything he got.
The final green light went off and an alarm sound was heard.
"Begin!" Midnight shouted.
All 11 classes of UA first-year students charge through the red gate and through the tunnel to begin their way towards victory.
"And we're off to a racing started! How bout some color commentary, Eraser Head?" Present Mic asked excitedly.
"How did you talk me into you this?" Aizawa asked, still bothered that he found himself doing commentary with Present Mic.
"What should we be paying attention to in the early stages of the race?"Present Mic asked as the students are going on.
"The doorway." Aizawa answered simply.
Right off the bat in the obstacle race, all of the students have suddenly found themselves stick in such a tight and hard space consider how everyone ran in at the same time, some are struggling to get through to the other side while others are trying to breath in the tight space.
"Ow, my wings!" Izuku groaned in a little pain, but his focus is on the exit of the doorway.
"(I get it, they're testing us—to see how we get through.)" Izuku thought realized.
"This is the first obstacle." Shoto said while icy mist emits from his right side.
KO a new chapter is done and hope you all enjoy it!
The race has started with everyone running into the doorway to make their way into the obstacle race, only to immediately find out that the doorway is the first obstacle of the race being in a tight situation which may not be a problem for Shoto soon.
