Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder rescued Charles Standish from the Demons, and in the process learned that the Demons are after an Isaac Delaney, one of very few people involved with Devil's Breath, beyond Osborn and Standish himself. So, what's going on with this Isaac Delaney? Who even is Isaac Delaney? Read on to hopefully discover...
(Our scene resumes with Charles Standish now in the custody of Sable International, with Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man looking over the scene while the three are on the phone to Yuri)
Spider-Man: Hey Yuri, it's me. Wasn't able to get much out of Standish before Sable took over and told us to back off.
Yuri: Sorry about that.
Spyro: What's their deal anyhow?
Yuri: My guess, keeping him quiet is top priority, since they're on Osborn's payroll.
Cynder: Because he knows about Devil's Breath.
Yuri: Exactly. Whatever the hell that is.
Spider-Man: We may have something there. Let's just say we're working a lead.
Yuri: Well don't you sound like a cop.
Spider-Man: Don't you mean... (Now in a gruff voice) Spider-Cop?
Yuri: Nope, nope, nope, not even remotely happening. (Hangs up)
Spider-Man: Yuri?
Spyro: You got to admit that's a fair response, Spidey.
Cynder: Let's get back to the matter at hand. We've got to find out who Isaac Delaney is and fast. The Demons are likely after him next.
Spider-Man: (Dialing a number) Already on it.
MJ: (Picking up the phone) Pete! Good thing you three called. How's Standish?
Spider-Man: He's safe.
MJ: And the Demons?
Spyro: They're looking for someone. Do you have a pen?
MJ: Shoot.
Cynder: The next target is someone named Isaac Delaney. Doctor Isaac Delaney.
MJ: Hm... Who are they exactly?
Spider-Man: We were hoping you could tell us.
MJ: Give me a few minutes, I'll see what I can find. Oh, by the way, you left the tracker from Tombstone's at my place. I'll drop it off at the lab. Call you back when I find something. (Hangs up)
Spider-Man: (As the group flies away) Hope we can find something.
Spyro: Agreed. (Checks his phone) Looks like Doc left us a message. (Plays the message)
Octavius: Sorry to call so late, my mind is bursting with ideas right now! We've been thinking too small, all this time! Why replace a missing limb with a facsimile when we can improve upon it? Now I know it's understandable that someone who lost an arm would want it back, that's plain as day, but what if we could give them something better than what they lost? The biological form is a good starting point, but we can't let it be a limiter. Just something to ponder. (The message ends)
Cynder: Doctor Octavius is really putting both barrels into this!
Spider-Man: I just hope he doesn't burn out from all of this.
Spyro: Brightest stars and all that. Especially now that he kind of knows our secret. Well, what he thinks is our secret.
(And in that moment, MJ calls back)
Cynder: What've we got?
MJ: Check this picture out.
(The trio pull up the photo on their systems, and it shows three people dressed as a trio of Spider-Man villains: The Lizard, The Vulture, and Mysterio from left to right, a caption indicating the three are at ESU's Halloween Party.)
Spyro: Guessing one of these three is Delaney.
Cynder: Can you isolate him?
MJ: No. Looks like you three will just have to go to the party to find out.
Spider-Man: Good thing I've already got a costume.
(With that, the trio swings off towards Empire State University in search of Isaac Delaney as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap for now. Looks like we're headed to a Halloween party to find our mysterious Doctor Isaac Delaney. A little late since Halloween was back on Tuesday, but the fact that this chapter ended up being close to Halloween at all is rather miraculous. Now before we continue, yes I did skip Taskmaster for this. He serves no purpose to the story at large, so I made the executive call to ignore him. And before anyone asks, I'm going to do the same to Black Cat when she shows up. Yes, she's important in the DLC, but her side missions here are not connected to that story, so again, making an executive call to skip her too. So, which of the costumed professors is the man of the hour? Tune in next time to hopefully find out! Same time... same channel!
