This is Part II of the Veteran's Day Special. Last time, the search for the mysterious Isaac Delaney began. After a brief update from Doctor Octavius on his latest ideas for the company, MJ managed to find a result. It turns out, Isaac Delaney also works for Spider-Man's alma mater, Empire State University, and is attending their annual Halloween bash, in costume as one of Spider-Man's villains, The Lizard, Vulture, or Mysterio. Problem is, we have no idea which one he is. So the only way to find him, attend the party and narrow down the suspects. So, will our terrific trio find him in time? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes with Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man swinging towards Empire State University, when they suddenly receive a notification)
Spider-Man: (Checking the notification) Hey, a message from Aunt May.
Aunt May: Peter, I spoke to Miles' mother, and she loved the idea of him working at F.E.A.S.T. (Sighs) The poor woman's struggling while trying to stay strong for her son. This will end up benefitting both of them in the long run, I'm sure. She needs some time to grieve, and he needs to see life is still worth living. That was a very thoughtful suggestion you three put forward. One that would've made Ben proud.
(And with that, the message ends, leaving Spider-Man speechless as he dries his eyes behind his mask)
Spyro: Now that's high praise.
Cynder: I never thought I'd see Spidey speechless.
Spider-Man: (Drying his eyes) You got that right.
(And just as Spider-Man gets himself back in gear, they arrive at Empire State University, just as the Night of 1000 Ghouls Halloween bash is off and going. Entering the party unnoticed, the trio immediately starts planning.)
Spider-Man: So, Dr. Delaney is dressed as one of our greatest foes. And we've got three options as to who's who.
Spyro: Most logical move, we split up and search the party.
Cynder: Good call. Leave Mysterio to me.
Spyro: I've got Vulture.
Spider-Man: Guess that leaves me with Doctor Connors' alter-ego. Rendezvous with whoever finds Dr. Delaney.
Spyro and Cynder: Roger that.
(And just like that, the trio splits up at the main thoroughfare of the event. At first, we focus in on Cynder, who's immediately made her way towards "Mysterio", who's operating a hall of mirrors. How on brand)
"Mysterio": Come one, come all, to Mysterio's diabolical hall of mirrors!
Cynder: The Mysterio knockoff running a hall of mirrors. Fitting I guess. (Confronting "Mysterio") Excuse me, are you Isaac Delaney?
"Mysterio": Ah, Cynder. The Terror of the Skies. Come to do battle with the master of illusions? Very well, I accept your challenge. But this, will not be easy.
(With that, "Mysterio", throws down a cheap smoke pellet and runs into their hall of mirrors)
Cynder: That's got to be the cheapest illusion I've ever seen.
(Cynder follows "Mysterio" into the hall of mirrors, and it's not even a complicated one, as Cynder corners "Mysterio" in no time)
"Mysterio": (Points a dart gun at Cynder) You may have bested my mirrors, but now the true battle begins!
("Mysterio" starts firing glow in the dark darts at Cynder, which she deftly dodges before knocking "Mysterio's" dome off, revealing their real face)
Dr. Stratton: Hey, what's wrong with you?! It took me a week to make that dome!
Cynder: Are you Dr. Delaney?
Dr. Stratton: No, I'm his colleague Dr. Stratton. He's out in the party somewhere. Who's asking?
Cynder: Who do you think?
Dr. Stratton: (Not buying that she's the real deal) Nice one, smartass. Nice costume though.
Cynder: (Realizing Dr. Stratton doesn't know it's really her) Thanks. You too. (As she exits the hall of mirrors, into the communication system she shares with Spyro and Spider-Man) Mysterio's a dud. How're you two doing?
(Now the scene switches over to Spyro, who's still on the midway)
Spyro: Not much better here. No sign of our Vulture knockoff.
(And just as Spyro says that, "Vulture" appears lit up on a central platform)
"Vulture": Ca-caw! Ca-caw! (As he throws candy to the crowd) Feast, my children! Let me hear you SCREAM!
Spyro: I stand corrected.
(Getting off the comm line, Spyro immediately rushes to confront "Vulture", parkouring his way up to the platform swiftly)
Spyro: Sorry to interrupt, I'm looking for Isaac Delaney.
(At this point, "Vulture" drops character, revealing his real self)
Dr. Hagen: You struck out up here, pal. Name's Hagen. (Points towards a section of the event) Delaney's over there on the dance floor. Hard to miss the lizard in a lab coat.
Spyro: Thanks. (Jumping down from the platform as Dr. Hagen continues throwing candy, then into the shared communication system) Delaney's The Lizard, everybody converge on the dance floor.
(Now we shift to Spider-Man's viewpoint)
Spider-Man: Meet you guys there.
(Spider-Man makes his way to the dance floor, only to quickly be joined by Spyro and Cynder. But just as they get there, a guy dressed as Rhino intercepts them)
"Rhino": Hey look, it's Spider-Man and the dragons! Since I'm one of your nemisises, looks like we've got to do battle.
Cynder: Firstly, it's "nemeses".
Spyro: And secondly, we don't have time.
"Rhino": What's the matter? You afraid of my mighty horn or something?
(As the trio tries to get around "Rhino", the Demons arrive and manage to capture Isaac Delaney.)
Isaac Delaney: (As he's being lead away) Hey, what's going on here? Who are you?
(And sure enough, "Rhino" isn't even close to letting the trio get around him, as the drunken students start urging them to fight. So they figure they might as well give them what they want, and absolutely thrash the guy. Spider-Man webs his arms to his torso while Spyro and Cynder tackle him to the ground, prompting a lot of people to wonder if these are the real deal, all the while Isaac Delaney is being forced into the building behind them, the Science Center. Leaving "Rhino" for finished, the trio sprints into the building, swinging up to the second level and enter a window, as our scene ends for today)
This concludes Part II of the Veterans Day Special. For Part III, head on over to The Injustice Wars. So, not looking very good so far, the Demons already have Isaac Delaney. But that begs the question. What do they want him for? What is his connection to Devil's Breath? Hopefully some answers will emerge next time. So be sure to tune in for that! Same time... same channel!
