Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Mister Negative tried to mess with Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man's minds, trying to convince them to join him so they could all take down Norman Osborn together. Seriously, what is his vendetta against Osborn? But that's beside the point, each of the trio managed to resist the temptation and fought Mister Negative off, ultimately forcing him from their minds. Now, we return to the chase through the city. What's going to happen next? Read on to discover...
(The scene resumes past the flash of light that ended the last chapter, where we see Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man break free from the grip of Mister Negative, the trio gets back into the swing of things immediately. Spider-Man slings his webbing onto the side of a building and uses it to make leverage enough to try and tip the APC into stopping. Seeing a crowd of civilians ahead, Spyro and Cynder starts flying through and swooping up as many of them as they can. Ultimately, Spider-Man's leverage proves enough to turn the APC, but instead of flipping it on it's side, he crashes headfirst into a building.)
Spyro: Spidey!
(As soon as the two dragons land, they start digging through the rubble, looking for any sign of Spider-Man, but soon enough, the wall-crawler himself emerges from the debris)
Cynder: You okay?
Spider-Man: Weirdly enough, not my first time crashing through a building. (Thinks about something) Wait, where's Li?
(Remembering what they're even doing here, the trio starts looking through the wrecked APC, only to find the driver's seat empty. And even worse, the case that was handcuffed to Morgan Michaels' wrist is removed from it, and empty. Mister Negative got away while everybody was distracted, and he got what he came for)
Spyro: Damn it all! He's gone!
Cynder: And he's got the Devil's Breath.
(Soon enough though, Spider-Man spots something, or rather someone, moving in the rubble, and after web swinging over there, pulls Morgan Michaels safe from the debris.)
Spider-Man: You okay?
Morgan Michaels: Did they take it?
Spyro: (As he and Cynder join the conversation) Afraid so.
Cynder: On a scale of 1 to 10, how worried should we be?
Morgan Michaels: 23 at a minimum.
Spider-Man: I was afraid you'd say that.
(And just when things couldn't get any worse, the Sable helicopter finally catches up, allowing Silver Sable and two Sable Guards to enter the scene)
Spider-Man: (To Morgan Michaels) You seem to be pretty popular today.
Silver Sable: So much for you three handling it.
Cynder: Silver, please. We were kind of dealing with Li messing with our minds before all this.
Silver Sable: (To Morgan Michaels) Where is the serum?
Morgan Michaels: Gone.
Silver Sable: (In clear frustration) Didiskoya!
Cynder: (Having somehow understood that) Watch your language, there are children around here! Probably.
Silver Sable: (To Spider-Man) Some superhero you are. You try to help but you only make things worse. (To Spyro and Cynder) I'm surprised you two even work with this clown.
Spyro: Hey, that clown has saved our tails more times than I can recount.
Silver Sable: I hold you accountable for this loss, Spider-Man.
Spider-Man: Hey, he was under your protection last I checked!
(With that insult not taken well, Silver Sable pulls out her twin pistols and aims them at Spider-Man, with Cynder having to step between them)
Cynder: Spidey, Silver, please! Now is NOT the time for this!
Morgan Michaels: Agreed, we need to brief Mr. Osborn immediately. (To Spider-Man) I'll go with her. But I won't forget what you three have done.
Spyro: Should we be taking that as a compliment or an insult?
Silver Sable: (To Cynder) I would definitely reconsider your choice of team. The Purple Dragon, he's probably good. But watch your back with that Spider clown. Sooner or later, he will let you down. (Holsters her pistols) Trust me.
(And with that, Silver Sable walks away with Morgan Michaels to go brief Norman Osborn on the situation, leaving our trio of heroes to reflect on how this battle against Mister Negative has gotten way worse, as our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. So, that could have gone better. We're already in the worst possible scenario. Mister Negative has Devil's Breath and is on the loose. Silver Sable is clearly losing her patience with Spider-Man, and probably her confidence in Spyro and Cynder as well. Can this get any worse? Tune in next time to find out.
