Act II - The Kingdom of Camelot
Summary: With Seeker summoned by the Viator and the threat dealt with. Percival, Chloe, and Maisha escort them to the Kingdom of Camelot to meet with their King…
Kingdom of Camelot Daytime - Clear Sky
As the Viator and his Servant Seeker, Jeanne d'Arc who have followed the three for the first time, step through the white castle gates where they find themselves here in the vibrant kingdom here in Camelot. He looked around the main area which is called the Camelot Plaza Square when he looked at the signs showing the name's location. Far ahead behind the fountain is where the castle is resting on the top of it where the pristine white castle is shown. People have continued to go on about their usual lives free from the threats and fears of the enemies like the Chimeras. Children were playing, holding sticks to do sword fights as if they were pretending to be knights while their parents look after them. Multiple people conversing with each other as the Viator seemingly listened in as they were talking about the upcoming Avalon Festival of all reasons. But the other woman had pointed out that Camelot is still being targeted by the enemies known as the Saxons… Who are these Saxons, exactly? To him, he was clueless. He thinks in his mind as if there is more than one enemy but…
"Like what you're seeing here, you two?" Chloe said as they looked at her.
"Certainly, it's reassuring that people feel safe within those walls. But again, it all feels so lively here." Jeanne said with some astonishment as Chloe chuckled a bit.
"That's our kingdom for you. But it's more than hanging out at the plaza, it has tons of districts that Camelot has a lot to offer. We got bustling outdoor marketplaces, calm residential areas, indoor shops, thriving businesses, Atlas Institute Academy, the Camelot Church…" Chloe has explained the list of locations where she could go on and one but Jeanne heard one word that sprung up in her mind.
"I'm sorry, did you say church?" Jeanne asked Chloe as she nodded.
"I did. Why?" Chloe replied in question as the latter would shake her head lightly.
"Oh no, I'm not questioning it. It's just that I have a deep interest in going there myself. Think of a way for me to praise my Lord in a sense. Would you like to come with me, Master?" Jeanne then asked him but…
"I still need to meet with King Artoria at the audience chamber, though…" The Viator replied as Maisha nodded.
"He is right, Miss Jeanne. You can head there yourself if you wish. Our Majesty only requested the Viator to be there in person. You can head there on your own if you wish. The Church is just in the East District, you can't miss it." Maisha said to his Servant as the Viator looked back at Jeanne for a small moment.
"You sure you're going to be okay on your own?" Viator asked his Servant as she nodded.
"Rest assured, Master. I simply needed to go there on my own without a problem. You just need to focus on the task ahead of you. Now then, I shall part ways for now until your meeting with the King is done." Jeanne then proceeded to leave on her own to find the Camelot Church located within the East District.
"Do not worry, Viator. Thanks to this kingdom, all forms of crimes are non-existent thanks to Sir Agravain's work. Even though it still lingers like criminals hiding within alleyways, he'll get the job done. So she'll reach her destination without problem. Now then, the walk to the main castle is long, yes. But rest assured that the upward climb will be worth it." Percival said as the Viator nodded as they would continue their way into the castle.
With Jeanne already heading off on her own to do her personal exploration within the kingdom's district. The Viator continues to follow Percival, Chloe, and Maisha right directly at the castle doorstep. But with the lance-wielding knight opening the door on his own… he was later greeted by someone who is not familiar with. A silver haired young man with a silver arm on his right… He then proceeded to blow lightly at him.
"Welcome back, Sir Percival. I take it everything went well in your search?" The young man asked him.
"Indeed I did. I even bought this visit that Our Majesty mentioned previously. Would you believe me that he woke up within the gorge, Sir Bedivere?" Percival said his name as he proceeded to look at the Viator with a small surprise on his face to ensure the confirmation.
"Is it truly him?" Bedivere continued. "The supposed visitor who fell from the sky?"
"Yes. The very same person. Viator, this here is Bedivere. He is a member of the Round Table like me. But he also serves as the steward for the king." Percival then introduced him to his knightly ally. Bedivere then greets him with a bow.
"Greetings, young traveler. My name is Bedivere of the Knights of the Round Table. I serve as the King's steward and retainer. Therefore, I am to remain at the King's side no matter the cost. My task is to bring you to the audience chamber where Our Majesty awaits your proper arrival after what happened at the outskirts." Bedivere continues. "Now then, shall we get going?"
Bedivere softly smiles at them. The Viator felt his presence to be friendly as there is nothing bad about him. He is indeed a good-to-honest person. However, Maisha spoke in.
"As much as I want to come with… I'm still a rookie in the end. I'll return back to the barracks and try to contemplate after what happened. Chloe, permission?" Maisha asked her as she nodded.
"Granted. Get some rest Maisha. You earned it." Chloe said to her as she saluted.
"Thank you. I hope you'll enjoy what Camelot has to offer. After your audience, that is." Maisha softly smiles as she turns back and leaves. Now only leaving to just three and Bedivere.
"Apologies, Sir Bedivere. Please proceed." Chloe said to him as he nodded to understand her statement. With it, all four proceeded to enter inside the grand halls of the very castle.
As they continued to walk down the long halls with the windows shone by the daylight, the Viator looked outside to see the outdoors of what appears to be a large garden with maids handling the flora. Yet, everything felt so grand. There are even paintings on the wall showcasing the Knights of the Round Table. But he doesn't have time to stare at it since he is being granted an audience to meet with their king. As soon as they reached the specific room where they needed to be, Bedivere proceeded to open the door as the four entered inside… the audience chamber. The room, this large and grand, boasts a lot of royalty here and there. He continues to remain silent as he does, knowing himself that he barely knows anything about the Kingdom or the castle… or even Artoria Pendragon herself. Percival, Bedivere, and Chloe all approached within a range where there was a woman sitting on that white royal throne. One for her and the other next to her while no one is sitting there. Of course, the blue and gold outlined carpet reaches from the entrance to the room all the way up to the five step stairs where the throne is. And behind her is the large stained colored glass representing the symbol of Camelot. With it, the three kneeled on the floor as if they were in the presence of their leader… their king.
"Your Majesty… we have brought you the visitor as you requested." Percival said to the woman.
"Well done. You three may rise." The woman said as the three stood up as Percival and Chloe moved aside while Bedivere walked up the steps and remained near Artoria's side. But his eyes do meet with the woman he has seen from the projection. "And so we meet, esteemed visitor. Please, come forward. I wish to see your face."
The Viator does as he was asked as he stepped forward just a bit to allow her to see what he looks like. As the woman pondered a bit…
"I see, you are definitely the one. The person who wields a Golden Command Seal. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Artoria Pendragon, Grand Saber and ruler of the Kingdom of Camelot as well as the leader of the Knights of the Round Table. May I know your name?" The woman known as Artoria asked him as he nodded.
"It's… Viator." The Viator said his name as the woman acknowledged.
"A strange yet fitting name." Artoria continued. "However, Viator. I must thank you for accepting my invitation in order to have a pleasant discussion regarding your arrival in this world. But if I may ask… Where is your Servant?"
"She went to find the church." The Viator replied.
"I see… then I will not pry further. Sir Percival, Lady Chloe. You are dismissed." Artoria said to the two as they complied without speaking. They had already left but Bedivere remained there with her. "Ahem, I apologize. Before we continue, would you perhaps like to know everything of this world of how it came to be for the last 150 years?"
"I do. But what do you mean by 150 years? What happened?" The Viator asked her the question since he knows nothing aside from waking up from the outskirts. Artoria looked down a little as her expression changed, as if it felt melancholic but remained as calm as possible.
"150 years ago… magical beasts known as Chimera appeared out of nowhere and began their destruction against humanity. No weapons are capable of killing them as they're proved ineffective. And that was indeed during my participation in the Sixth Holy Grail War in the small city of Fuyuki." Artoria has explained what the Chimeras were when he first encountered them. One that is just a normal beast and the other was a stronger type that is capable of killing. "But within seven hours, the world had come to a ruin and humanity was thrown into a brink of extinction. At the same time, the Holy Grail was never to be found as it ultimately reached a stalemate. Not even I or my Master… or anyone knows where it is anymore. But me and my Master survived and prevailed… he can no longer age as it changed him ever slightly."
"Your Master?" The Viator asked about this particular person as she nodded.
"Correct. My Master… is Shirou Emiya. We have continued to live in this ravaged world for 150 years. My Saint Graph has changed and evolved me thanks to his hope. And during the aftermath of the world's apparent end… chaos ensues as Heroic Spirits all over the world were released into the world. There were no signs of either Alaya, the Counter Guardian, or Gaia at all. In other words, the Planet has been officially abandoned. Now, it is us Grand Servants to help continue to protect this world against the Chimera… at the same time fighting against our enemies who thrive to hinder it. As for why I'm now called Grand Saber is… complicated. It has to do with my Saint Graph but… I just can't remember why it took so long…" Artoria said as she placed her hand to her chest in order to grasp that feeling. 150 years really changed humanity and Heroic Spirits as a result.
"Then how Camelot came to be in this world, then?" The Viator then asked another question as he was curious to know.
"It was after me and my Master left the ruins of Fuyuki back to the lands of Britain… I saw the devastation of what the Chimeras caused. But it was that moment when I suddenly encountered an unexpected reunion with all of the surviving Knights… Bedivere, Mordred, Gawain, Lancelot, Tristan, Gareth, Gaheris, Kay, Percival, and Agravain. That even includes my court mage… the Magus of Flowers Merlin himself. Through time and time again, I settled my differences with my son Mordred to come to a conclusion that humanity must prevail. As a result, we all returned back to the birthplace of what remains of our land. It was thanks to my Master's hope that we ultimately made a decision… to rebuild Camelot not to live in the past, but to focus on the future. For the past 150 years, this kingdom I have led has created great prosperity and peace within our lands. Even to the point where the kingdom's technology has progressed ever slightly by borrowing the technology from the Old World as what people call it." Artoria explained as she began to reminisce about those times which started as the foundation of what Camelot is meant to be. A Kingdom of hope for the people. "As for how this land is called the United Kingdom of Camelot… My Master had traveled throughout the lands all alone in order to search for any signs of life. One instance is a land down south, far but close. That kingdom is called Frankia. Led by the Queen known as Marie Antoinette. And one from the southeast near the coastal shore… an empire called Roma, led by the Emperor named Nero Claudius."
"Our Majesty's Master, Lord Shirou, had explained to us that both Roma and Frankia's tensions worsened, which could potentially lead to an all-out war. But thanks to our king's intervention, she resolved these issues through peace… of course, she had to deal with our neighboring ally from the southeast with her constant… boasts." Bedivere said with an awkward chuckle as Artoria placed her hands lightly to her head to ease herself.
"This Nero… She is truly something and yet her demands are truly something." Artoria continued as she lowered her hand and spoke. "After those talks, we all come to a mutual agreement that our kingdom is to be made the Grand Capital while Roma and Frankia are part of this very nation. Henceforth it is called the United Kingdom of Camelot, here in the Arvess Continent. While our fight against the Chimeras have slowed down… but abnormal occurrences continue to bring them back such as the Inversal Rain. Coral Fields have been appearing throughout the continent but they're not too much. After all… the Chimeras feed off of people's anxiety. But rest assured, my trusted Round Table is capable of clearing out Coral Fields to ensure the land's stability and proper leyline connection thanks to the Planet."
"Though, if I may ask you, Sir Viator." Bedivere continued. "Are you familiar with the world's three continents?"
"I have not, no… but they did mention a land next to the continent called Fuso." The Viator had explained little to no detail aside from remembering the word of the land's name.
"Ahh, so you were uninformed. But I do not blame you despite your arrival. Listen well, Viator. Allow me to explain the world's continents and its respective rulers from each nation. It's… a long story." Artoria said as she would begin her explanation as the Viator listened in…
Background Music | Final Fantasy XVI OST - Land of Eikons
The Planet… a land ravaged by Chimeras 150 years ago changed drastically ever since their appearance during the midst of the Sixth Grail War. As times changed and humanity's continual survival… continents, nations, and kingdoms are born. In this world, there are three continents. The middle of it all is the [Arvess Continent], where my nation; the United Kingdom of Camelot, resides with Camelot as the Grand Capital of my kingdom. The Empire of Roma and Kingdom of Frankia are part of it. On the left are the neighboring lands and islands called the [Eisa Continent], where the Nation of Fuso and Yaoqing respectively are part of. And on the right is where the arid deserts, dry canyons, and lush coastal lands called the [Ivalice Continent] are from. All three continents are ruled by Seven Grand Servants, each with their own diverse cultures and traditions… In the Arvess Continent, Camelot is ruled by Artoria Pendragon as I am called the Grand Saber. The Empire of Roma is ruled by Grand Lancer by the name of Romulus-Quirinus, the one who is considered the founding father of Rome itself. While Nero is the acting ruler, Romulus prefers to let Nero handle it from here. Onto the Eisa Continent… The Empire of Fuso is ruled by a Grand Archer named Oda Nobunaga who is the Demon King of the Sixth Heaven. Unfortunately, the nation is thrown into a civil war against its own people who disagree with her rule. So far, there has been no victor as of now. I don't even know what's happening there, either. Next to Fuso on the northwest is the nation of Yaoqing ruled by a Grand Rider named Gao Changgong, as of now they want no part in helping the Fusoan rebels nor assisting Grand Archer in quelling the civil war as they tend to keep it to themselves. Now on the Ivalice Continent… the Kingdom of Uruk is ruled by my former adversary Gilgamesh… who eventually became Grand Caster. I have not talked to him for 20 years ever since our one-sided reunion. Though, he simply wants to live a peaceful life and have his kingdom thrive. Then there is a neighboring kingdom called Assyria ruled by a Grand Assassin named Semiramis. I have not known her as of now nor what she is doing. But the world's oldest poisoner and her kingdom simply wants to be left alone, perhaps. And lastly… is a land far off northeast called Greece ruled by the man… a Grand Ruler known as Zeus. I have never known him personally nor do the Grand Servants themselves. It is truly mysterious to say the least but no one knows what it's like there…

"And that is the explanation of the Planet's respective continents. Do you understand?" Artoria explained as he pondered for a small moment before nodding.
"I do." The Viator answered.
"Good. Though, strange as it may be. Remember what I told you that Grand Ruler exists? Well, it's complicated. Through unknown reasons, Grand Berserker… doesn't exist. Hence why Zeus, the Grand Ruler, took that slot for his own." Artoria continued. "But as of right now… we're currently fighting in our own battles as both Roma and Frankia continue to stay out of it. The enemies known as the Saxons have been attempting to attack our Grand Capital in order to tear Camelot apart. But we have prevailed time and time again. But as of late… they're adapting against our tactics and situations that are beyond comprehension."
"Indeed…" Bedivere nodded with a sigh as he looked back at the Viator. "Our kingdom is potentially in danger because the Saxons have somehow found a way to tame and control the Chimeras to aid their cause against us. But not only that, an enemy Servant; is augmenting these magical beasts. And I must say… this is truly concerning. Lord Shirou has not come back for the past five days since it began. I'm more worried for him since he's fighting alone against the violent Saxons who are blessed with strange dark magic, too."
"Certainly. If only he remains truthful to me rather than going alone to just to protect me away from the enemy. Viator, I know you recently came into my kingdom and are confused about this situation. So I ask you, can you help us fight against the Saxons and find my Master Shirou for me? I fear that one day my kingdom will be doomed to repeat itself but I want to prevent this. Protecting my people and subjects against two threats is very troublesome. You're the bearer of the Golden Command Seal. The one who'll bring peace and stability to the Planet, to bring the bright future. Do you accept it?" Artoria said to him as he was left with a decision… To help her protect her kingdom from the Saxons and the Chimeras, as well as finding Shirou's whereabouts or refusing it… However, he has already made his choice. With the Viator's determined expression, he accepts.
"I'll accept your offer. So let me help." The Viator said as this made Artoria smile from this result.
"A wise choice. I shan't forget that, Viator. However, despite your arrival. I had made sure that my steward was here to provide you with some necessities. Of course, you are free to stay in my kingdom if you so choose. Bedivere." Artoria called out his name as he nodded.
"Yes, Your Majesty." Bedivere saluted as he walked the steps down and approached the Viator. He then proceeds to provide him with two items; A slate with a screen where it's size shows you can hold it with just one hand. And the other appears to be a crest that shows the symbol of the kingdom itself. "This one here is the Terminal Slate developed by Atlas Academy. Almost everyone owns them on three continents as they are designed for communication… as well as photo shooting. And the other one is the Crest of Proof, a very important item that you must keep with you at all times."
The Viator then takes two of the items off of his hands lightly as he inspected the crest first since it is considered an important item. As for the Terminal Slate he looked at, he knows that Chloe and Maisha use them. Artoria then speaks up.
"The Crest is those who are given the utmost importance and those who have earned my respect, of course. I never gave anyone that crest until now. But rest assured, you are the first. The crest will allow you to gain access to restricted areas and even an entrance to my castle. As long as you show the guards your crest, that is." Artoria then clears her throat. "Ahem… I can understand that you're tired upon your arrival. So therefore, I have arranged living accommodations for you and your Servant at the Viridian Street in the East District."
"Viridian Street?" The Viator asked.
"It's part of the residential area for high-class civilians. Our Majesty is never a fan of ideas regarding nobles boasting their status to exploit others who are beneath them. But rest assured, the lavish abode you'll be receiving will be yours by right. So don't worry about the living expenses and all that." Bedivere reassured him with a kind smile and his eyes closed to show kindness.
"From this day forward, Viator. You are officially a citizen here in Camelot. You should be honored. Bedivere, please escort this esteemed citizen if you please." Artoria commanded her steward as he bows lightly.
"As my king commands, let us go Viator. Please, follow me." Bedivere said as the Viator nodded as he followed him out of the audience chamber. As the two had left while the ruler was all alone, she let out a calm sigh in order to exhale, she placed her hand to her chest and looked up as she only pondered and hoped…
"Please don't die… Shirou…" Artoria said with worry as she can only do but to hope for his safety and survival.
Meanwhile, within the castle where a large room was shown. It appears to be a group of people in their armor as they were at their seats. This room is known as the Round Table. Chloe and Percival entered inside on their own as there were others here who were waiting for their arrival.
"About time you friggin' showed up. Heard that Fath- I mean Our Majesty brought in this visitor or something. That shit true?" The blonde young girl with a short ponytail spoke as she was relaxing on her seat in a relaxed position with her legs on the table as if she couldn't care about courtesy at all.
"I suggest you match your manners, Sir Mordred. Our Majesty knew of this prophecy regarding the stranger with a Golden Command Seal. But it appears it came true after all." Another blonde man in armor and his sword sheathed on his right hip proceeded to ponder for a small moment.
"Indeed it has, Sir Gawain." Percival continued as he took a seat as Chloe did the same to remain with him at all times. "I have met him personally myself. The Viator is truly something, him being capable of summoning a Servant to his side; a one who calls herself Seeker."
"Seeker?" Said the dark purple-haired man with skepticism on his face. "Surely that name of a class never existed. Are you sure you're speaking the truth?"
"He is, Sir Lancelot…" Chloe said with her arms crossed. "We saw it with our own eyes when we were trying to fend off that Elite Chimera at the Coral Field."
"Is that so? Then I won't elaborate any further…" Lancelot replied.
"Right now, we need to deal with those damn Saxons. Almost half of our soldiers are unable to fight after what happened at Valisthea Plains. Tch… Father should have sent me and my Master to deal with that situation easily with my Clarent. Right, Master?" Mordred said to her Master where the young man who was seen polishing his broadsword where the blade is seemingly engraved in runic language along with a ruby gem slotted on the middle of the sword's hilt. He has red hair with his hairstyle slicked back aside from his front hair bang to his right. He had shark-like teeth gritting lightly as he was carefully polishing his weapon… way too carefully. "Oi… Master…"
"Not now, Mordred… I gotta give this blade a good polish and it'll look new in no time." The red haired man said with some slight irritation.
"Isn't your blade already polished already?" Chloe said with a sweatdropped as he stopped doing so, looking at her with a glare.
"Huuuuh? You got a problem with that, girly?" The red haired man said with annoyance.
"She's right, Aren. Besides, we're only called here by King Artoria regarding our enemies from the north. Her Master, Lord Shirou, hasn't come back to Camelot ever since. We need to wait for updates until we're given a greenlight. I simply enjoy a nice time of peace, don't you agree, Tristan?" The young man with brown hair who wore his hunter's pointed cap as he was seen inspecting his akimbo under-over long barrel revolver with a black reflective finish as he was seen playing with his weapons by twirling it. The red-haired man named Aren only glared at him. "What? Don't worry about it. My guns have no bullets in 'em. C'mon, Tristan! Say something…"
"All of this bickering… this is truly sad…" The light armored man with long red hair and his eyes always closed known as Tristan spoke in such a depressed manner, he strings his harp bow once to show his usual sadness.
"There he goes, acting like he's depressed…" Mordred sighed.
"U-Umm… if I may ask…" The young blonde girl spoke at her seat. "Are you sure that Our Majesty is coming because of this meeting?"
"Yes, Sir Gareth." Gawain continued. "Are you nervous?"
"N-No! Not at all, brother!" The young knightly girl named Gareth stammered a bit.
"That reminds me…" Aren continued as he shifted his eyes where there was another person with black hair slicked back on his seat. "You haven't even said a single word regarding this Saxon situation, Agravain."
"I have no comment about this…" Agravain replied sternly. Chloe then proceeded to sigh.
"So, it's just us three chosen Masters and the rest of the remaining Round Table Servants. I can already tell you that Bedivere won't be present in this meeting since the Viator's arrival to this kingdom." Chloe said until they all heard the doors opening where Artoria herself had arrived personally.
They all remain silent as Artoria takes a seat with a unique design, signifying that this is her seat only as she holds that power since she is the leader of the Round Table. Knowing her presence, this was a serious meeting.
"Do you remember why I called you all here at this Round Table?" Artoria asked all of them present here.
"Regarding those Saxons, right? We're already aware of it. Never would I think they would stoop so low to use dark magic of all damn things." Mordred spoke first on this situation as Artoria nodded.
"Correct. With the Viator's arrival to our Kingdom, our chances of victory are secured. Unfortunately, Frankia has refused to help us as they wish to not involve themselves against the Saxons. Let alone defend their own kingdom. As for the Empire of Roma…" Artoria said as she didn't say a word as it confused her.
"Y-Your Majesty…" Lancelot spoke. "You don't mean about Emperor Nero, no?"
Artoria didn't speak as she looked down a bit…
"If I recall… the Whore of Babylon caused you a rough time when we first traveled to her empire. Your Majesty, surely you have a response regarding if Roma is willing to assist us." Gawain asked her about it as Artoria couldn't remain silent any longer.
"O-Of course I do!" Artoria stammed a bit as she remained calm. "Of course I do… While Emperor Nero has agreed to assist us in eradicating the Saxons. Lady Leonardo Di Vinci has also agreed to provide her defense weapons, too."
"Di Vinci, huh… Last time I remember, she's using stuff that came from the Old World, right?" The revolver-wielding man spoke as he continued to twirl his firearms.
"Indeed, both Di Vinci and Atlas are the biggest contributors who have provided Old World technology for us and other neighboring nations like Frankia and Roma." Artoria continued. "But again, Di Vinci is a renowned member of the Atlas Institute Academy."
"If I recall… doesn't Di Vinci have a Master she formed a pact with? What was her name again? Scion… Xion…?" The gunslinger tried to think of the person's name. "I had talks with her before but I can't even remember her name… But I'm definitely sure that she's also an Atlas member."
"Sion Eltnam Sokaris." Chloe continued. "A prodigy with the body of a 13-year old child and the mind of an adult. I saw her in action when she fought against a single Chimera during her research with an Etherlite and a magecraft-powered handgun. You're truly scatterbrained, Moza."
"Hey! I was tryin' to remember, okay?" The gunslinger named Moza continued with a sigh. "But then again, I respect her."
"Ahem… Your Majesty. Aside from Roma's alliance with us against the Saxons. Is there anything you want us to do?" Gawain asked Artoria as she nodded the moment she stood up.
"Yes. My trusted Knights of the Round Table. With the Avalon Festival still early in its preparations. We must protect our kingdom, our people, and our nation from our only enemy… the Saxons. We must remain united at all costs. As for you Chosen Masters…" Artoria continues. "Percival's Master, Chloe Morgan. Mordred's Master, Aren Joyce. Tristan's Master, Moza Immergreen. I trust that you will also defend Camelot?"
"We do." All three Masters responded in unison.
"Then it is decided. We shall-" Just as Artoria was about to make her statement in order to inspire them… She was interrupted as if she neglected someone here in this Round Table…
"If I may ask, Your Majesty. How do we exactly find the Saxons anyways? They're formidable, sure. But they're crafty as they'll adapt to any situation regardless of the obstacle. With your Master missing and currently fighting his own wars. While they're somehow capable of utilizing the blessings of dark magic and tamed Chimeras. Shouldn't we focus solely on protecting the kingdom on our own?" The young man with green long but short hair who always has his eyes closed as he wore the same armor like all three Masters wore. But one difference is that he does not have a Command Seal.
"Huuuh? You got a lot of nerves speaking up about this, Ramza. Never would I think you would think the other way. Give us one good reason, otherwise I'd be willing to stick my sword down your damn throat…" Aren threatens the green-haired young man named Ramza as he puts his hands up.
"My Master's right. So you better start talking, otherwise… shut up and let Father finish." Mordred said as she agreed with Aren's statement.
"Now now, there's no need to get angry there, girly.~" Ramza taunted Mordred as she gritted her teeth.
"Say that again…!" Mordred growled as she was about to take action until Artoria intervened.
"Mordred! Stand down!" Artoria's voice boomed within the room as Mordred proceeded to stand down as told. The Knight of Treachery felt bad but remained silent as a result… Aren did the same. "Sir Ramza, while I understand your concerns regarding the future of our kingdom's survival. Do you have any ideas in mind based on your suggestions?"
"I do, fortunately." Ramza continued with his usual sly smile on his face. "Asking the Empire of Roma for help in dealing with the Saxons serves no purpose. Without, there wouldn't be a thing we hold so dear called pride. While that inventor Di Vinci has proven useful and beneficial to both nations, I fear that we were over relying on their help too much. So instead, we must take up arms and fight against the Saxons on our own in order to prove ourselves that the nation is the strongest. Am I not wrong?"
"You are correct but… I intend to visit the Emperor myself. Gawain and Bedivere will accompany me on my journey." Artoria continued as she spoke. "Sir Kay, Sir Galahad and his Master Koharu Riedenflaus, and Sir Gaheris are currently stationed at the northern border fort of San to keep our enemies at bay…"
"Meanwhile, that useless wizard is still going around flirting with women all day long with his clairvoyance…" Chloe added with a sigh as Mordred seemed to agree.
"You're not wrong…" Mordred replied. However, Artoria proceeds to speak.
"However, Ramza. While I understand your concerns about the kingdom's code of chivalry and pride. But the world is teetering on the brink because of the Saxons. Thus, the meeting is dismissed. Gawain, with me. Guards, please notify Sir Bedivere that he requires my company. I will mount on Dun Stallion till the departure in the afternoon." Artoria said as she would bring Gawain with her as the guards saluted, making their leave to find Bedivere… the other knights remained silent as is as Mordred got off her seat and stretched her arms.
"Damn I'm bored… Hey, Master. Wanna go train? My blade's itchin' for a fight." Mordred said her master as Aren got up from his seat and took his sword with him.
"I'm down. I just need to do some test runs with this Rune Blade since our last patrol with those damn Chimeras." Aren said as the two proceeded to leave. Moza fell asleep as the meeting here wasn't his interest as Tristan remained silent. However, Ramza stood up as he sighed when Chloe looked at him.
"Well now, I suppose Camelot is still going to require help from them in the end. I don't blame her, though.~" Ramza said as Chloe stood up and glared at him.
"Have you no care for Our Majesty?" Chloe's eyes shot towards him as he was a bit surprised.
"Oh, I certainly do. Besides, a woman like you shouldn't be sticking where your nose is. After all, I've practically done nothing wrong. If you'll excuse me…" Ramza then proceeded to make his leave as Percival looked at his Master as she seemed concerned but couldn't even bring it up about it.
"Ramza… I don't know what you're up to… but I'll find a way to know of your true colors. One way, or another." Chloe said with a stoic determination in her thoughts, knowing that Ramza is not to be trusted.
Meanwhile… back at the Viridian Street within Camelot's East District where the residential area is at. A simple neighborhood filled with houses that are decorated as they are somewhat lavish to match the white colors like the walls. The Viator had followed Bedivere to where they reached the area of where he will be living here from this day on… a fancy home all for him and his Servant.
"And here it is. This will be your new home here in our kingdom. It has been vacant for quite a while. But since Our Majesty has placed high hopes in you since you're considered the most esteemed citizen here rather than a visitor. Your deeds in helping our knights is considered a good cause of course. Now then, are there any questions you like to ask?" Bedivere maintained his kind expression as the Viator thinked about it but shook his head.
"I got nothing so I'm good." The Viator replied as the steward nodded.
"Very well." Bedivere replied until…
"Sir Bedivere! There you are!" The guardsman rushed over to find where Bedivere was.
"Oh? Is there something the matter?" Bedivere said to the guard as he saluted.
"Our King requests your company alongside Sir Gawain on the trip to Roma." The guardsman responded as he seemingly acknowledged it.
"Understood. I will head there swiftly." Bedivere then looked back at the Viator. "Apologies, but I do need to be elsewhere since it is important. I am to remain at my King's side at all costs. But so please enjoy your new home that you're provided with. Thus, I bid you farewell."
With it, Bedivere then bows lightly as he makes his leave with a guardsman. The Viator could only watch what's going on. But again, this isn't his problem now that he's a permanent resident here in this kingdom.
"Ahh, Master! There you are!" The voice of Jeanne spoke as she met up with him. "I have returned from my visit to the Church."
"And how did it go?" The Viator asked.
"Splendidly." Jeanne responded as she looked at the home. "So this is where we'll be living here from now on? King Artoria has indeed shown kindness towards us. Oh yes, are you interested in hearing me out?"
"Hmm… Alright, I'm all ears." The Viator said as she nodded.
"After I left the Church. I ran into some children who were willing to tell me a story… a one called Warrior of Light. The Hero who left the kingdom to fight against the Knight of Darkness in his quest to save the princess." Jeanne said as she continued. "Of course, they were interrupted by their parents since they needed to go home. But that reminds me, Master… You never told me your name despite being called the Viator."
"But… I don't even have a name nor I can remember it…" The Viator said as he placed his left hand to his head.
"If that's the case… How about I give you one?" Jeanne said with a kind smile.
"You will?" The Viator said as she nodded.
"Definitely. You shouldn't be called Viator forever so… I want to come up with a name just for you." Jeanne replied as he lowered his hand.
"Right… Then what name are you going to give me?" The Viator said as he was waiting for Jeanne to give him a name.
"Hmm… How about… Wol." Jeanne had come up with a name as he tilted his head a little.
"Wol?" The Viator said the name.
"It's like Warrior of Light… but shorten it by three first letters. W. O. And L. So… I came up with Wol." Jeanne explained about it as he began to ponder. "Master? Do you not like the name?"
"Oh no. I think I like it. Very well, Seeker. I'll go by Wol from now on." The Viator, now officially known as Wol, said to his Servant as this made Jeanne happy.
"Then I'm glad, Master. I'm glad that I gave you a perfect name. Actually, would it be okay if I can call you Wol as well?" Jeanne asked back at him.
"I wouldn't mind either way." Wol said to her as she nodded.
"Then it's decided, Wol." Jeanne then lends her hand out. "I'm looking forward to serving under you, to help guide you to the light in search of the answers. Hence why I am called Seeker."
"Likewise." Wol nodded as he took her hand to do a handshake, which signifies the first start in their journey.
"Now then, since this is going to be our new home… Why not get some rest? You do seem tired after all." Jeanne suggested Wol with the idea of sleeping in early, which could make him feel better in terms of energy and respite. So, he agreed without saying. The two would enter inside their new home to call it a day but…
"Well now, talk about the unexpected, no. Either way, I humbly welcome you to Camelot, Viator. Or should I call you Wol now." The voice of a young man spoke as the two never even noticed seeing him inside the house drinking tea at a table.
The young man wore a sagely white robe woven with the finest fabrics, though he still look modest, his long hair appearing with the colors of the rainbow under sunlight. Of course, he is carefree as he should be. His eyes look at Wol with great interest ever since the events of his awakening in this world. But to Wol… he doesn't know how to react or how he knows his name despite being the Viator. Within his mind… he decides to choose his words carefully.
[Who are you?] | -[Please get out of my home.]-
He chose the other…
"Would you please leave?" Wol responded in such a blunt and yet, decent manner.
"Oh you wound me, can't a young man like me enjoy the finest tea?" The white haired young man said as he proceeded to drink his tea before finishing it. "Though, I suppose an introduction is in order. My name is Merlin, the court wizard serving under King Artoria herself. It's simply the pleasure of meeting you for the first time. After all, I've been watching ever since your arrival. And that includes your arrival as well, Lady Jeanne d'Arc."
"You have?" Jeanne asked as she blinked her eyes as the young man named Merlin stood up from his seat as he grabbed his staff leaning on to that edge of the table.
"Indeed." Merlin continued. "Considering how the world has changed ever since the arrival of those magical beasts called Chimera 150 years ago. Humanity continues to survive and persevere against all odds. That's what I like about them. My King is always fond of her kindness, allowing any survivors to seek asylum in this kingdom in order to live their daily lives. And with that time of respite and peace soon to break all because of the enemy from the north, I fear that they're simply brewing to create more trouble that would surely threaten the lives here."
"The Saxons…" Wol continued. "They're Camelot's only enemy."
"How astute of you, Viator. Indeed the Saxons are Camelot's enemy. In a way that's been acting differently compared to their historical counterparts. I actually saw them in action with my own eyes." Merlin continued. "As My King has mentioned before, the Saxons are power-hungry raiders that thrive in pillaging, kidnapping, and even violence. I wouldn't mind sharing this information to you since you've been given the greatest responsibility by Artoria. As of currently… My King suspects that there is a mole within the Round Table."
"A mole? What do you mean by that? Has someone infiltrated the Round Table's ranks?" Jeanne spoke up.
"That is correct, Lady Jeanne. A great traitor who seemingly has allegiance towards the Saxons, most likely tasked to leak information in every Round Table meeting. And no, I'm not counting the Knight of Treachery." Merlin continued as he proceeded to lightly scratch the back of his head. "Even though I was given this information due to its high confidentiality, I need to make sure that someone who I'm interested with can take on that task. And that would be you."
"So why me? Why provide me this information? The Saxons are the enemy, sure. But how are we supposed to find the mole within the Round Table?" Wol asked him as the Magus of Flowers raised his hand lightly. Of course… Merlin was serious.
"Find the woman whom you met before upon your awakening. She's already been trying to chase those answers all by herself. That is the hint I can give you. Besides, even if you tell My King about it, the mole would likely raise suspicions and try to manipulate the kingdom's army against you. Even the whole Round Table that would do anything to chase you through the ends of the earth. Which is why you need to be careful whom you trust. Remember what task you're given us as I mentioned before." Merlin spoke in a calm but serious manner before switching his expressions back to his usual laid back and carefree personality. "Ahhhh…~ That tea is delicious. Again, I thank you for letting me finish. However, I do have places to be since My King is awfully busy as of late. Now, if you'll excuse me… I'll be enjoying it at my own leisure. Until then… Farewell!~"
Merlin then glows bright pink as he raises his staff as his whole body turns into pink flower petals as he disappears, heading off somewhere else in the kingdom as it leaves out the petals on the floor. The two would close the door since they're inside but… Wol looked down a bit as he doesn't know what's going on as it involves a traitor within the midst. A mole secretly plotting behind Artoria's back.
"Master… I understand that Merlin has seemingly given us a task about the mole. But to find the woman… What is he even referring to…" Jeanne said as Wol was left to ponder.
"Whatever the mole is doing, it could put Camelot in grave danger." Wol said as he assumes so.
"My thoughts exactly. Though… shouldn't you be getting some rest? You are tired after all." Jeanne said to him. "But don't worry, I'll… clean up the mess on the floor that Merlin made."
"Right… I'll rest then." Wol said as Jeanne smiled a little.
"Thank you for listening to me, Wol. The sun is setting so head off to bed early." Jeanne said as she would proceed in cleaning up the flower petals.
While unfamiliar with the layouts… he decided to blindly walk up the stairs to the second floor and open the door to his left where he finds a medium sized bedroom, complete with a king-sized bed, drawer, and a lamp. He decided to approach it and fall face first on the bed as he goes to sleep almost immediately.
"She is right… I'm tired… I should start dozing off and try to feel fresh tomorrow… hopefully." Wol then proceeds to close his eyes as the sounds around him begin to fade away. Yet, he remains unsure of what will happen next as his journey currently sails in an unknown future.
Meanwhile… somewhere outside of Camelot's Outskirts. The land is still teeming with roaming Chimeras out on the open field but this was somewhere in the deep forests where Razma was seen meeting up with someone. Of course, he had to act natural and avoid suspicion from anyone, including Agravain who is proven to be quite difficult but has ensured that has been avoided. Then, as he stood there, he was greeted by a mysterious hulking figure whose face is obscured by the shadow. He has a large muscular build as he has his arms crossed. Then, Ramza proceeded to kneel down at him to show his loyalty.
"I bring you a report, Lord Kupka." Ramza said to the figure.
"Speak. Time is of the essence…" Kupka spoke in a rough but deep voice.
"Grand Saber of Camelot has begun their journey to the Empire of Roma. Though, she is accompanied by Gawain and Bedivere as I speak." Ramza said to his leader.
"Good… While she is considered to be troublesome alongside Gawain. And what of the other knights?" Kupka asked as their conversation continued.
"Lancelot, Gareth, Tristan, Percival, Agravain, and three other Masters within the Round Table remained back at the kingdom."
"Hmph. They're not my problem but this gives us a good reason to plot the attack from the side since they're busy dealing with half of our soldiers."
"Y-You don't mean?"
"The Chimeras we've tamed? Thanks to that Servant and some neat magic we're blessed with since I'm now contracted, this will give me insights of how a test run will go. What I'm trying to say is… I'm going to give them a scare tomorrow."
"And will that work, Lord Kupka?"
"Who knows, if our tamed Chimeras can kill one of the harmless civilians. Then I'll call it a success. Continue spying on these Round Table scum. Try to get every single information you can gather."
"But… what if this 'important visitor' might step in?"
"Who cares. Are you questioning me?"
"N-No, my lord…"
"Then this talk is finished. Return back to the kingdom. Don't. Get. Caught…" Kupka then proceeds to leave within the shadow. Ramza then stood up as he turned around to remain silent as he returned back to Camelot to continue his plans in assisting Kupka to bring Camelot to its downfall…
That peace will soon be disrupted…
