CHAPTER 5

As the fighting continued on, sword knights and lance knights on horseback were charging right at the Dawn Brigade members. Bri, who could not take it anymore, was beginning to feel angry at the Begnion troops.

"I guess I didn't make myself clear to the Begnion soldiers." Bri said to the Begnion soldiers. "THIS IS A DAMN OCCUPATIONAL WAR GOING ON HERE! CHAAARRRRGE!" she later said as she galloped on her wolf.

"What?" asked a Begnion soldier with a lance. "Is that…a freaking wolf valkyrie?!"

"General Burton!" yelled a mounted Begnion Lance Knight.

"What now, puny soldiers?!" asked the sword knight Burton.

"Quick, General! Look at what we Begnion soldiers see. That lady is charging right for us, and I think we are going to be skewered for lunch for her hungry wolf!" said the mounted Begnion Lance Knight.

"Well…ready your lances then!" yelled Burton. "I will ready my sword."

Bri was noticing she was about to be skewered.

"Oh, no…" said Bri. "Looks like I have to use my sleep staff on these bastards. Sleep! Cast my spell!" she later yelled.

The spell was later cast on the enemies.

"Yaaaaaaawwwnnn…I'm….getting…..sleeeeeeepy….Ugh…" said the Begnion foot soldier with the lance as he fell asleep.

"Goddamn it, Daein soldiers!" said Burton. "That does it with them. Yah!"

"Oh, shoot." said Bri.

"Bri, no!" said Micaiah.

"Let her, Micaiah." Sothe said.

"But…" said Micaiah as Sothe shushed her afterwards.

The conversation with Bri and Burton heated up.

"Tell me, Bri." said Burton. "Why join the Dawn Brigade?"

"I joined the Dawn Brigade because I am participating in the cause of restoring my homeland to its former glory!" Bri said repeating herself from earlier. "Besides, I told Micaiah I was still in the process of looking for work, so as a result, I joined the Dawn Brigade for temporary measures."

"Hmph. Like I'm going to believe that." said Burton. "Very well. How about I skewer that wolf of yours and use its meat for my dinner?"

"No frickin' way!" Bri hollered.

A flash of Ilyana's Thunder magic was right in between Bri and Burton.

"Are you seriously trying to kill me or something?" Bri asked.

"No, I was trying to kill Burton." said Ilyana. "Just…Don't let him come near me!"

"Watch out, Ilyana." said Micaiah. She later cast a spell in Ancient Tongue.

"That better not have been a frickin' insult!" Burton said.

The spell of Thani was later casted on Burton, and he was later blind. He later died from the blindness of the light.

"Alright, way to go!" said Kurth.

"That's the spirit I like to see!" said Aimee. Micaiah later gave out a smile. But unfortunately, reinforcements were pouring in from the eastern side.

"More soldiers?" asked Laura. "Oh, dear…"

"Don't worry about anything, Laura." said Nolan. "We've got this fair and square."

"Excuse me!" said a man with light green hair.

"Aran?" asked Laura. "Is that really you?"

"Laura!" yelled Aran. "Look…I'm sorry.

"For what?" asked Laura.

"Being in trust to that Begnion merchant family for a long time." said Aran. "Why are you with the Dawn Brigade now?"

"They agreed to help with my abbot." said Laura.

"I'd like this guy to join." said Micaiah. "He is your friend, right Laura."

"I'm making him join." said Laura.

"But I–" said Micaiah as she was shushed by Aran.

"I'm joining." Aran said.

"I guess we're all in this then…" said Micaiah.

The soldiers were later circling the Dawn Brigade. As they were in the process of closing in, Micaiah cast another Thani spell to blind the soldiers. All that lied in the street were dead corpses of horses and beorc. Aimee and Kurth later showed their gratitude to the Dawn Brigade for helping them out of the dirty and rotten prisons

"You're welcome." responded Micaiah with all her gratitude.

"Hey, Aimee!" yelled a man named Jorge.

"Jorge! Muston! Daniel!" yelled Aimee. "Over here!"

"Oh ho! Who would ever know Begnion would rule Daein with such a rotten fist?" asked Muston.

"I don't know what anyone was thinking." said Sothe.

"Me neither." said Nolan.

"Yeah." said Bri after walking over while mounted on her wolf. "I mean, why would Daein be ruled by Begnion in the first place? I've worked with Begnion soldiers in the Mad King's War!" she yelled.

"Well, there are rumors that the late Mad King Ashnard left an orphan behind." said Jorge.

"Wait, what the hell?" asked Bri. "King Ashnard left a child behind?! Why has no one told me this unknown mess!?"

"Well…those…are rumors." said Daniel. "But wait until these turn up true. Daein would strike a fortune."

"He is in the Desert of Death, in the east part of the country, according to the rumor." said Muston.

"And therefore…shall we investigate?" asked Edward.

"Yes, I think we should." said Micaiah. "Everyone, let's go."

Everyone later left for the Desert of Death, located in the eastern part of Daein. Little did the group of the Dawn Brigade know that they would come across a forgotten Laguz species that did not fight in the Mad King's War.
