Luna had swiftly decided to go home with Stiles and Sheriff Stilinski that night instead of going back to her own home with her relieved mother. Luckily, Elsa understood - she wanted the comfort of her best friend and the least she could do was give it to her.

Luna was still in a crazily weird daze, one that felt like her numb feet were solely responsible for carrying her through and into a house and to Stiles' room, instead of her brain instructing her body to do so.

Now Stiles, his father and Luna herself all stood in a weird circle apprehensively in his bedroom, none of them too sure of what to say to one another after such a traumatic, bizarre and somewhat disturbing evening. Sheriff Stilinski was still trying to figure out all the supernatural stuff for the first time, so he was barely coherent as it was. Weirdly, the most put together out of all of them was Stiles, who was usually the worst one to handle any sort of pressure. "Luna, here - take this to sleep in," he was the first to speak after rummaging in his chest of drawers for a couple of seconds. He pulled out an old Metallica top and a pair of his boxer shorts and handed them both over to her helpfully, his eyes still trained on her worriedly.

"Oh…thanks, Stilesy," Luna sniffed feebly as she took it from him and held the clothes tightly to her quivering chest.

"Look, Luna - I know it's been a good few years since you had any sort of sleepover round here," Sheriff Stilinski began awkwardly, causing them both to look up at him in surprise as if they'd forgotten that he was even there, "but trust me, nothing has changed from when you were a kid. Our house is your house, our stuff is yours. Whatever you need, we got it, and you can stay for as long as you like, okay?"

"Thank you so much - that is so kind of you, as always," Luna smiled softly, nestling her head into her own shoulder coyly. "In fact, it's very kind of you both." Stiles smiled too and immediately threw back his covers to leap into bed, completely exhausted, whilst Sheriff Stilinski bid them goodnight and quietly slipped out of the bedroom.

Luna stretched her slender arms out and sat on the edge of his bed, with her gifted folded clothes resting comfortably on her lap as she watched Stiles attempt to get comfortable in bed. "You tired, Stilesy?" she hummed to her best friend.

"Exhausted, yup," Stiles groaned back, as his red rimmed eyes fluttered closed. "Before I go to sleep, did you need anything else?"

"No-" Luna started to answer - when she suddenly heard his gentle snores emit from his mouth as a response. She couldn't help but giggle before stripping down and making her way into the shower for a long rinse down.

She thought to herself as she let the hot water and summer berry scented shower gel run down her body. She'd gone through so much within a day and a half that it all still felt like the weirdest dream, and she wasn't too sure if she was fully wake anymore.

Once she climbed out and changed into the cute little outfit that Stiles had kindly put together for her, she was able to think a little clearer and realise that she was actually not tired in the slightest - and if she was, she was so overly tired that sleeping wasn't an option anymore. So naturally, once she'd folded her old clothes away and tied her hair into a messy topknot.

There sat Sheriff Stilinski in the kitchen, cooking something up, looking as exhausted as his son was but, at the same time, as restless as Luna felt.

He glanced up with a small smile as Luna tiptoed in timidly. "Oh hey Luna - you not tired?" he frowned at her in surprise.

"I'm almost too tired to sleep, if that makes any sense in the slightest," Luna answered honestly, settling herself down at the dining room table.

"I get that," Sheriff Stilinski nodded quietly. "Can I get you anything to eat?"

"No, thanks."

"Want a hot chocolate?"

"Oh…yes please," Luna sniffed, looking up at him with a thankful nod. She rubbed her eyes and let out a small sigh, feeling the tiredness slowly creep up on her but at the same time, unable to even think of shutting her eyes again.

Sheriff Stilinski took a moment to contemplate his next words before speaking.

"You know…it was incredibly scary seeing you like that earlier. You were practically…I mean you were literally…"

"Dead? Yeah," Luna mumbled weakly. "I was."

"But as you were laying in that trunk, the weirdest thing is…all I could think about is how I was gonna tell one person in particular that you were gone. And that person wasn't your mother, or your dad - it was my son," Sheriff Stilinski grimaced, looking directly at her.

Luna glanced back up at him and shook her head.

"I mean, I kinda get that. He's my best friend-"

"Nuh-uh. He's more than that, Luna. You're…you're his soulmate. He'd do anything for you, and I know you'd do anything for him. I'm pretty sure he knows that too - it works both ways," Sheriff Stilinski told her quietly. Luna looked up at him with tearful eyes, knowing deep down in her heart that he was 100% right. "He…totally freaked out when you were missing. Promised himself he wouldn't give up until we got you back, wouldn't rest for a second, had multiple panic attacks but refused to rest-"

"Honestly, knowing Stiles - I don't dispute any of that for a single second," Luna mumbled back - before suddenly, a loud scream emitted from Stiles' room. Luna and his father blinked at each other before immediately rushing into his bedroom to see Stiles yelling for dear life, wriggling around in his bed and thrashing things that didn't exist in a blind panic. "STILES!" Luna shouted, zooming over to his bed and trying to restrict his movements, as Sheriff Stilinski went to the other side to hold him too in an attempt to calm him down.

Within a few seconds Stiles burst into tears as he slowly woke up and slowly realised he was safe, clinging onto his father with one hand but also, blindly clutching onto Luna's knee with the other, as a quiet acknowledgement of her being there for him too. She bit back her own tears and held his hand in hers instead, stroking the backs of it with her thumbs until his cries quietened and subsided.

"I'm gonna go get you some water, son. Luna…keep an eye on him in case he's still sleeping," Sheriff Stilinski nodded, slowly unwrapping his arms back from around him and tiptoeing out of the room.

Luna and Stiles were left together, Stiles still gripping onto her knee and spluttering to catch his breath, the tears still running down his cheeks.

"Stilesy, you're still freaking out," Luna whispered worriedly. "I can hear your breath shaking from here."

"Th-th-think i-i-it's n-now a p-panic attack," Stiles gasped, suddenly clutching onto the bedsheets and leaning forward in the attempt to get air into his lungs a little better. Luna frowned and repositioned her legs so that she was kneeling in front of him instead.

"Alright no, we're not doing this right now - look at me, Stilesy," she whispered, holding his quivering face in both her hands.

"I-I-I can't-" he groaned.

"Of course you can! You can do anything you put your mind to - and in the last year, your mind as been put to a lot," Luna scoffed lightly. She leaned in further and ended up straddling his hips so that he had no choice to calm down. "Hey, Stiles, I said look at me? Why won't you look at me? Is my face just that unattractive?" she joked gently.

Stiles' eyes darted up to hers almost immediately then.

"Y-Y-You're literally the m-most beautiful girl in the world - looking at you is all I freakin' wanna do, if you haven't noticed by now," he scoffed this time, although he was softer than hers. He gulped as his eyes swiftly darted across her facial features. "Trust me, you're…far from unattractive."

"Thanks," Luna giggled shyly.

She nibbled on her bottom lip as she cocked her head to the side in wonder.

"…and I mean thanks for everything, by the way. As I was getting myself together, they told me about all you did whilst I was…ya know. Out of action. It means so much to me - more than I think you will ever understand." Stiles dropped his gaze and shrugged slightly.

"I mean…I know you would've done it for me," he croaked out, seemingly suddenly unable to look her in the eye. "We're best friends, right? It's…kinda what we do." Luna ran her tongue over her teeth and nodded.

"Best friends. Right," she murmured back. His eyes darted back to hers briefly and Luna smiled slightly, seeing him smile back. "Stiles," she hummed slowly. "You're…not panicking anymore."

"How can I?" Stiles sniffed back up at her. "Your hands also haven't left my face once." Luna clenched her jaw as she studied Stiles for what felt like the first time ever, properly.

He was beautiful.

It was as if she was only just seeing him for what he was now - and what he was, was incredibly appealing to her.

"Stiles," she whispered again, licking her bottom lip hesitantly. Stiles gulped and but slowly slipped his hands up Luna's knees and skimmed across her thighs gently, causing her to shiver slightly at his touch. He was taking a massive risk but he couldn't help but try, especially as he had her this close.

"Yeah?" he eventually whispered back, looking dead into her eyes now. Before Luna could register why, she began to lean in as slowly as possible, inadvertently bringing Stiles' face towards hers, when-

"I've got water! Had to wash a glass-" came Sheriff Stilinski's voice from the hallway behind them as he approached the bedroom door. Stiles' hands immediately dropped from Luna's legs and she swiftly dismounted his lap just in time for his father to turn up in the doorway. He slowed down slightly as he took in the sight in front of him - an awkwardly seated Stiles and a flushed cheeked Luna beside him, looking anywhere but up to where he stood. "Oh! Oh god. Did I…uh…"

"No," Stiles blurted out quickly.

"No?" Luna repeated, but with a slight questionable tone. Stiles clenched his jaw even tighter and said nothing, whilst she smirked to herself and crawled over the bed to hop off - but spotted something on her way.

She stopped and turned her head to her best friend.

"Weird, cos your pants say otherwise. Goodnight Stilesy," she whispered so that his father couldn't hear, before finishing her journey off the bed and standing up straight again, dusting off her hands whilst Stiles awkwardly rearranged himself. "Goodnight Sheriff. Thank you for lending me the spare room, I appreciate it," she smiled to Stiles' dad.

"You're most welcome, Luna. If you don't feel up for school tomorrow, I'll gladly write you a not so that you can recover," he offered up.

"Thank you - but I'm sure I'll be fine," Luna beamed back before slipping out of the room and leaving them to it, her heart racing as she felt Stiles' eyes on her as she disappeared from view.

The next morning, Luna decided to try and head into school despite how she was doing. She still felt dizzy and slightly weak at times throughout her getting ready stage, but truthfully, she wanted to make sure that Stiles was okay during his day after his little situation last night. That was way more important than her health right now.

Stiles.

Luna didn't know what was going on with her and those weird feelings she currently held towards her best friend. Last night felt like a glitch in the system, like something she wasn't meant to do and yet at the same time, somehow, it felt so right.

In fact, she felt excited to see him again.

These were all the thoughts running through her head as she brushed her hair into a ponytail in the hallway mirror - when she swiftly heard Stiles behind her. She turned around with a small smile, seeing him smile back immediately. "Morning," he nodded.

"Hey," Luna hummed.

"You look pretty today," Stiles blinked a few times. Luna's eyebrow rose in surprise - she wasn't wearing much fancy. She went for a casual oversized shirt, baggy jeans and her hair in a topknot - so to hear that was nothing short of sweet. "I…I mean, not to be weird or anything…"

"You're not being weird and thank you. You look good too," Luna smiled shyly, ducking her head. "How do you feel this morning?"

"I…well, honestly pretty tired," Stiles answered honestly, shoving his hands into his back pockets with a shrug. "Kinda struggled to get back to sleep after the whole nightmare…thing."

"Why didn't you come tell me?" Luna frowned. "I would've helped you out!"

"I didn't tell you because you were knocked out after kinda dying briefly - felt a little insensitive at the time, you know?" Stiles squinted weakly. Luna giggled and shrugged, tightening her ponytail with a small hum.

"Oh the dramatics - I'm alive now aren't I?" she drawled, before shoving on her hoodie and grabbing her rucksack. She gave one last look into the mirror and cleared her throat. "SO! You dropping me to school or what?"

"You sure you wanna go in today?" Stiles clarified worriedly.

"Are you?" Luna shot back without a second thought.

They looked at each other for a couple of seconds before nodding and leaving the house side by side without another word.
