Hakuno hummed, Sarah was a nice kid for inviting her out for ice cream, she's never had it so she was looking forward to it, but she figured she would check it on their off day. Honestly, she wanted to just sleep the day away.
Finding a Pokecenter was nice and simple it was due to the fact the first one was quite literally on the outskirts of town combined with the large red roof and the steady stream of kids and teenagers flowing in and out of the building made it very obvious. She did have to wait her turn to get Nomia checked out and the little Fae was being looked over.
Once it was found out she wasn't a normally seen Pokemon in this area the Nurse asked to hold her a bit longer for her to personally learn a bit more about her species. After a simple coaxing of a Nomel Berry, a new sour Berry that looked like a lemon, and the promise of a free single room was all that was needed for the little Smith and her to agree.
The room she was in was tiny, barely large enough for the bed crammed in, but it was her room she didn't have to share other than with Nomia. But for now? While Nomia was getting checked out by the Nurses? While her Terminal was still sleeping, she wasn't too sure what agreement it and Celebi made, a merging of sorts.
She was alone.
Her eyes stared at the ceiling as she contemplated her recent events, she had managed to push things aside and keep moving forward because she was on a relatively short timetable. Everything was happening all at once, no time to fully think.
She was in a new world, she was seemingly human now. A wish she so desperately sought after making sure that nothing like her past could ever happen again. Rescued by a Green Onion that seemingly has decided to help due to a whim of theirs.
She befriended a girl who is only technically her junior, befriended a living breathing Fairy, and… left her Rose behind. She would think of life but… Nero was her life. The driving force behind her bid to live, to just keep trying to survive against impossible odds, was the one who gave her a gentle hand at the beginning and end.
Was it strange that she wanted to collect stories to tell Nero when she died? Or… if there was a possibility, however minute, of a Pokemon that could bring her here? She would try the Portable Terminal but a… copy of her wasn't what she wanted, she wanted the Nero that resided in her heart, her soul to come home to her.
There was no Magical Energy in this world, the Type-Energy that gets used is more grounded in the weirdest sense, but she couldn't even fathom a method to get her from the Moon Cell database or get her to see her in it.
And… could she even do that? Would she leave Nomia alone? What if she gains more Pokemon? Could she abandon all of them?
She cares for the little Gremlin, and while she still finds stuff in her boots and sleeping bag occasionally she knows it's out of jest, not of hatred. Like when she wrote down her name as Francis Xavier back in Alice's Nameless Forest to mess with herself. Fun harmless pranks that try and keep the mood light.
She does love being away from the Moon Cell, a chance to live but… what is living? Sure she knew what she wanted, a small flickering desire that pushed her alongside her Rose, but she still didn't understand what that truly meant. She had no experience in any of the matters other than the mad desire to survive.
Her plan to spin a tale so great that her beloved would love to be regaled with was her current goal, at least for now she has to figure out how to. The only thing she really had figured out is she didn't want to be a Champion, they are tied to a single Region she wants to… see everything.
She nodded, that means… fighting training, gathering allies, and exploring. She wasn't too sure, but she doubted they could win all Pokemon Battles as she had done since Nomia had joined her. She perhaps should look into planning like Maizie was… For now, she will put that part to the back burner, and figure out what to do after Silver Rock Isle.
Who knows, maybe she will find another in Cianwood to join up with her? She doubted Nomia would be happy with just one badge and more allies would make things go easier. She promised Nomia to make her as strong as she can, and Nero… in the end was able to slash her blade through Buddha even if it cost them her beloved Rose's life.
She should try and help Nomia more, she can't relegate all training to Maizie or Shuk-Shuk anymore.
At the least, she should look into making better meals for if someone did join her team then well… While Nomia was happy with whatever as long as it was sour she was fairly sure that she couldn't survive off what she had been making, having the same meals over and over again was driving her well insane. She was used to it in the Moon Cell because she hadn't developed taste buds but now…
She missed her Mapu Tofu…
Her eyes darted to the light above the door, she wasn't too sure of the significance but the fact it flickered on might be something worth asking the front desk. Who knows maybe there is a rogue-
"First badge and below trainers stay in your rooms, second badge trainers and above come to the front counter."
Ah, well… that was worrying. Well, it gives her time to sort through the notes Maizie gave her a bit more, although… she will skip over the 'slow' strategy she had mostly crossed out in the front of the book.
Turns out, that a group of Gyarados is called a 'Rage of Gyarados'. And a Rage was reason enough for the port town to stay holed up for a few hours while the Rangers and Police worked with the local trainers and were able to handle them.
Hakuno left her room as soon as the light went out and the call was made. Heading downstairs to the receptionist she was taken aback by just how many people were there. Being in Azalea town had not prepared her for what was quite possibly a hundred people all cramped into the reception room.
She frowned, unsure of if there even was a line to join. Her eyes darted to a nearby Pink-haired girl wearing a nurse uniform who was quickly approaching her, "Hakuno Kishinami right?" She blinked in confusion and nodded. "You mind helping the front desk? My Cousin mentioned you as a good kid who wouldn't mind helping out, and we frankly need all the help we can get right now."
"Sure?"
"Sweet," Nurse Joy relaxed slightly, "Alright, I just need you to check people in and help Clara return people's Pokemon, if they are coming in Wild and injured press the buzzer, and one of our Pokemon will swing by and take them. Check people's Pokemon out and all that, Clara will help you if you need it. Sorry kiddo, we will pay you back for this I swear." The Joy clan member practically shoved Hakuno behind the counter, tossed her an apron, and ran to the back.
Hakuno looked at the apron before tying it on, then she stared at the large crowd of people milling about before looking for some sort of guidance.
"Like I said before… Everyone, please get in line…" 'Clara' practically whispered at the five people in front of her and was looking like she did on the first day of the Holy Grail War. So confused and lost.
Hakuno had no idea what to do, but Nero did mention the best way to get everyone's attention was to shock everyone, make sure they can hear you, and also something about wearing nice clothing that lets you show off… but she will definitely ignore that last part.
Her eyes gazed over to the large pile of books underneath the front desk, nodding as she heaved the largest two up to chest height and then let them fall to the floor.
BANG
The clamor of the room fell silent, a Pink and Cream colored Pokemon popped her head out from the backroom doors, Hakuno had barely learned the name of them earlier, glared at her with all the rage she could muster with her bright blue eyes.
"Form two lines, serious injuries on the left with Clara, non-serious issues I will be on the taking on the right. If you don't form two lines, Ms. Audino will make you." Seeing her cue the little Pink and cream-colored Pokemon gave an incredibly evil smirk to the crowd.
"Lines. Now."
Two lines were quickly formed.
"Thank you so much!" Hakuno tilted her head at the crying mess of a girl, once the lines were formed and people started flowing in order she seemed to have picked up on what to do in an instant and could file everyone to their exact destinations.
Hakuno guessed chaos wasn't something she could handle well yet.
"It's no problem." Hakuno gently pushed the older receptionist away, trying in vain to keep her, now favorite, jacket clean from snot.
"Tink." Her little Tinkatink said resolutely from her small nest of Scarf she devised on the counter.
One of the Audinos had brought her out partway into the rush Nomia was apparently rather insistent on helping out. Her help was fairly limited to her attempting to boss people around and pouting when people ignored her and asked Hakuno questions.
Hakuno didn't have the answer to many of the questions asked, any serious ones she asked Clara between taking in new Pokemon and the ones that were the minor ones, like asking if Clara and her were single, were just flatly ignored.
Nomia liked those, she got to be the angry little gremlin she was with them.
Clara yawned as she plopped down on a chair, her eyes darted to the boy who vaguely looked familiar approaching the desk.
"You!" Hakuno tilted her head before pointing at herself. "Yes, you! The Woodsworth Bully!"
Huh, she didn't think she was bullying people, she only did a few battles on that road…
The differences between Paths and Routes were mainly due to distance and Pokemon Density if it was less than a day of travel, and had very few 'Wild' Pokemon it was typically a Path. If it was lots of Pokemon and long travel it was a Route. Some very short routes typically boarded danger zones that were considered routes as well, like Route 46.
From what she had gleamed there were no longer roads in the wilds without a decent amount of Pokemon. It was slightly confusing as some roads in Forests and Caves were also sometimes called Paths as well like the Woodsworth Path technically started in Ilex and went all the way to Palmpona.
This world was only slightly confusing.
"Mankey Boy?" His face flushed red, he balled his hands into fists. Nomia quickly stood up as well and a nearby Wigglytuff stood up from her weary seat.
"Don't call me that." He spat out, "Just…" His eyes flickered to the receptionist, then at the angry Tinkatink and annoyed Wigglytuff. Taking a deep breath and clenching his teeth, he said, "Can you heal my Pokemon?"
Hakuno nodded and shook Clara's shoulder, "Ah yes! Of course! We'll need your Pokemon." The boy gave a terse nod as he pulled out the lone Pokeball and handed it to Clara, the girl scanned his ID and the Pokeball and nodded as the Pokemon didn't have a serious injury, before a voom as the Ball was sent to the back via the Pneumatic tubes.
With a huff, he turned away and went to a nearby chair.
She should probably be done by now, honestly, she had no idea how much longer she could help. Most of what they were asking for was medical help and all she could really do was set people up in rooms and give simple directions, she rarely actually scanned a Pokeball and sent it to Recovery as she wasn't trained in diagnosing injured.
She was honestly amazed that the Pokecenter's machine could scan and get a rough estimate on how well a Pokemon was doing inside of the Ball, of course, if the Trainer wanted a clearer picture they would ask the receptionist to mark their Pokemon to get a thorough examination but… most didn't for some reason.
"Oh!" A squeak broke her out of her thoughts, "Hakuno?" Her eyes gazed at the girl in black and white holding a small blue Pokeball in hand.
"Hi, Sarah." She wasn't too surprised to see the ice cream girl coming in, it was the closest Pokecenter to where she last saw her, and if she remembers right somewhat close to where her Parent's shop was.
"Apologize right now, Vincent!" Her eyes gleamed over to the young boy as the previously calm girl was pulling his ear. "Don't think I didn't hear you complaining."
"Shut up Sarah! Stop pulling it you're going to rip it off!" The boy was doing his best to stop the girl who was not only taller and stronger than him but also a nicer person, she wasn't a sore loser like he was.
"I'm sorry for this idiot Hakuno. He looks up to his brother and that Mankey was a gift…" She did a small bow, "Please accept my apologies for him."
"Sarah!"
"Quite you." Ah, Hakuno knows the feeling of being glared at, Sakura leveled a tired emotionless one at her a few times, "You didn't even give me notice you were heading down that way, our Journey was supposed to be done together."
"I didn't want to wait another week…" The boy was mumbling as his ear finally got free from the death grip. Poor kid was still looking down.
"It's fine, I don't need an apology." The girl gave her small nod before sighing still looking down at the boy.
"Thank you, when you swing by our shop I'll make sure you get some free ice cream." Hakuno nodded, at least it was free now. And the actual receptionist perked up at that.
"Oh, can I have some too?"
"Clara, you know not to fraternize on the clock."
"S-sorry Nurse Joy." The girl pushed her chair back and stood at attention as soon as she heard that voice.
Nurse Joy gave Clara a tired look before turning to face Hakuno, "Thank you for the help Hakuno, the money should be transferred to your account sometime by tomorrow morning."
"Money?" Hakuno tilted her head at Nurse Joy. She thought it was more of a deal-based thing but money could also work.
"Yeah, emergency help and whatnot." She waved her hand, "And I'll throw your room in for free until the end of the week."
Free food and free money? Not counting the giant ocean dragons attacking the town, today's gone pretty well for her and Nomia.
Author's Note: Kind of an abrupt ending but I felt it was right.
So because it ends like this I feel like answering a few questions!
1) To give a slight spoiler, Hakuno will not get another Pokemon until she gets to Cianwood.
2) Celebi did basically a phone call with Hakuno and made a deal with Personal Terminal
3) Melvin is an anime character from the Kanto Arc, his appearance does not mean Ash exists. I will say its still based mostly on the games, I just took a few characters from the anime that I remember and found some… better uses for them.
4) Naoko visited Orre, as it'sa kid, stayed for years, and kicked some ass. She is originally from Azalea and came back to retire after (probably) illegally crossing the border. Jennies hate her cause she could care less for their authority but there is no proof of her breaking the law (cause she is smarter than the average Ursaring.)
5) There is a rival (kind of)
6) Said Rival has 2 other rivals as well (That aren't Hakuno), and their starters have a type advantage against each other (the whole Type Triangle starter stuff, just uhhh all 2 stage Pokemon, not 3 stages)
6.1) I will make it clear who Hakuno's 'main' rivals soonish… within the next few chapters, but some characters will just pop in as well as temporary characters for a while. (Not Azalea town peeps, they going to pop in and out a few times. In fact, Hakuno should probably make a phone call…)
7) Both League and -'s Porygon were eaten by the PT
8) As Azelios pointed out in the Fanfiction reviews, if taking Fate concepts in the world of Pokemon, then yes Pokemon would be arguably the Prime Species of the Planet cause they do technically rule over the world and are vastly more numerous than Humans. It's just more symbiosis with Humanity than Humans are with animals/phantasms in the fate universe.
9) Other Mythicals may or may not show up at a much later date (With the exception of Deoxys and Melmetal) The rest of them may or may not appear, I just don't really get Melmetal too much and Deoxys always to me felt like a final boss thing and well… I have plans for the final boss kind of stuff.
10) I only got 3 Pokemon picked out, 2 for sure, and 1 I'm so-so on. Will either do a poll or figure it out myself later on. But we got quite a bit until then so… I got time lol.
