The other Heroes weren't having it though.
"Naofumi, you can't just do-" Motoyasu began.
"Shut up Furry," Naofumi said.
"Naofumi, I heard that you started calling yourself the Fourth Reich and assaulted several church members," Itsuki said.
"First of all, we are called The Racists now, don't deadname us," Naofumi said.
"Why did you want to be called the Fourth Reich anyway and not the Fifth?" Ren asked.
"Huh?" Noafumi asked, genuinely confused.
"I mean, the Fourth Reich had a good run, but after the revolution of 2065-" Ren began, before remembering they all came from different earths. "Oh wait, there were only three in your world?"
"Unfortunately," Naofumi said.
"Come on Motoyasu-sama," Malty snorted. "We don't need to waste our time with these people-"
She didn't get any further as Keel kicked her in the shins.
"Agh! Filthy dog!" Malty screeched.
"Good job Keel, but how did you know that girl was the one who had falsely accused me?" Naofumi asked him.
"What do you mean falsely accused you? I just thought that she just had a really kickable face," Keel replied. "And so I kicked her."
Naofumi nodded in approval. "Aight, let's harvest this corpse and get going."
The other Heroes didn't seem to be too happy with things, but at the same time, they didn't want to pick a fight either- likely after they had seen Keel's and his level.
Of course, rules only applied to those who were not strong enough to defy them! That was true not only in his old world, but this one as well.
"Hey, I heard the King is giving out rewards, don't you wanna go?" Keel asked as we walked off.
"Don't be dumb- after the stunt we pulled in the church, the only thing he'd give us is ten years in the slammer," Naofumi replied.
They caught up to the others, who were running back.
"Master Naofumi! We did it! We saved the village!" Raphtalia said.
All of them looked well aside from a few minor scratches and some dirt. They all had happy expressions on their faces- likely because they were glad that they had been able to help other people.
"Great job!" I told them. "Now, let's see how much money we can squeeze out of them before we move on..."
Turns out the answer was 'not much' given their village was just destroyed and the fact that they needed cash to rebuild- they did give Naofumi a merchant guild pass however, which could be useful in the future.
Not to mention, the next morning, Naofumi got a letter from a masked man.
Respected Shield Hero,
This is Beloukas- allow me to congratulate you on your triumph over the latest wave. I can only assume you will be asking for more slaves, well, rest assured, given your reliability as a customer, I have included a catalogue for your perusal with this letter, and will deliver whosoever you want, no delivery fee needed so long as it is within Melromarc's borders.
Rest assured, this means there is no need to visit my shop in person ever again. You merely need to ring the bell enclosed with this package, and someone will come find you within a day, within reason of course.
"How convenient," Naofumi said, handing the letter back as he ticked off several of the choices in the catalogue. If he still had his smartphone, he could potentially bring 'Uber for slaves' to this world- but alas, such technology was lacking. "Only thing is I don't know where we should head next..."
"Master Naofumi," Raphtalia said. "I know the perfect place we should go- it's near the sea, so we won't have any issues with food there."
"Hmm... yeah, sure, tell me?" Naofumi said as he saw that all the children seemed to be excited to go to this place.
His plantation did generate a small amount of fish, but the pond still had to be maintained and water had to be poured in, not to mention the yield of fish was dependent on the volume of the pond. As he got more slaves, feeding them would be a big issue, so it actually did make sense to head towards the coast, where fish would be plentiful.
Raphtalia stood atop the hill. Here, her house used to stand, that is until it, along with the rest of the houses in the village had been burnt down.
"Mama, Papa," she said, staring out into the vast expanse of the ocean with her hands clasped. "I wanted to let you know, wherever you are, that I haven't forgotten what you told me. I'll keep smiling, no matter what- and we'll rebuild this village. Guess what? I actually met the Shield Hero! He's... a bit different from how he is in the stories you told me..."
Even from this distance, Raphtalia could hear Naofumi speaking to the new 'recruits.'
"In my previous life, I knew the hardships of living in a world after the 13th amendment had been passed. Yet, I still aspired to own a large number of slaves. A journey of cold winds and disappointing anime endings (looking at you Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia), a lone sigma male experiences a life of ups and downs. A heart of steel forged from countless setbacks. A lifetime of effort to forge one shield. Today, my shield aims beyond the clouds." He held up the Enslavement Shield for all to see. "Enslave demihumans! Enslave humans! Enslave heaven! Enslave everything!"
"...yeah, the stories really don't do him justice," Raphtalia continued. "But, I think that he has a good heart beneath his rough exterior. We saved a village from the Wave- and stopped a lot of kids like me from becoming orphans like I did. I hope wherever you are, you're proud of me." She smiled, the nightmares she used to have were now completely gone.
"Hey, Naofumi, Raphtalia's talking to herself again!" she heard someone said behind her.
"Probably just her schizophrenia acting up, relax, I know how to fix this," Naofumi said. "It's a medical procedure from my world called a lobotomy..."
Raphtalia did manage to convince everyone that one, she was not schizophrenic, and two, that she didn't need a lobotomy, they set for work.
Naofumi's powers had increased given the new slaves he recruited. Now, on his plantation, there was an emerald rather than a sapphire, though this gave far more XP than the sapphire did. Additionally, Naofumi had set up the location so that a part of the sea was enveloped in its territory, making the yield of fish from there much higher than it had ever been. By now, all of the original five were so high levelled they did not fear any monsters lurking in such shallow depths, and there was more than enough food for everyone.
The newcomers were quickly approaching their level caps, though, they would run into the same problem later on of none of them being able to class up.
Raphtalia herself, for example, was now level 73. She was the highest leveled person in the whole plantation save for Naofumi, who had reached level 97.
About two weeks later, a large number of carriages accompanied by around two thousand knights came to their location. They were forewarned of it kudos to a sentry tower they had set up.
"Ah, they've all finally come, have they," Naofumi said. There was not a trace of fear in his voice, these people might outnumber them, but he had set up a small fortress near the coast, and many of them far outclassed even the other Heroes in terms of stats.
A man came up from the procession. It was Motoyasu- in regular armor, not wearing any kind of costume thankfully. "Naofumi you coward! Come out and face me!"
Naofumi marched right up to Motoyasu. "What up dog?"
"What's up is that I heard that you've taken all these children as slaves," Motoyasu said, spinning his spear around and pointing it at Naofumi's chest. "How dare you? Why aren't you letting them go?"
"First of all, I have been slaving away forever to get the money for these slaves," Naofumi said. "Furthermore, my power depends on the number of slaves I have. Also, when I do eventually get ultimate power, I will make all slaves in the Kingdom free."
"You'll emancipate them?"
"I never said that- I said I'd make them free, though I should note that I'll make them free for me," Naofumi said.
"I order you to release them!"
"You do realize that you're the one violating Kingdom law then- given that there's nothing in the Kingdom illegal with this," Naofumi told him.
Motoyasu threw a glove at Naofumi. "I challenge you to a duel! And if I win, you have to release all your slaves! And if I lose, you can keep them!"
"I literally gain nothing from that wager," Naofumi said.
Malty then stepped up, holding a royal decree in hand. "This decree says that the Shield Hero must accept the duel request set by Motoyasu-sama!"
"So what do I get then?" Naofumi asked. "Given this is outright thievery..." he scratched his chin. "What should I ask for? International law and the Geneva Suggestions greatly limit what I can ask for... alright, if I win, Ren has to cross-dress until the next wave."
"Deal!" Motoyasu said.
"Wait- what!?" Ren shouted. "How did it come to that? What makes you think I would agree to that? Why are you dragging me into this fight? And why would you ask for that? What possible benefit does that give you?"
"'Cuz I think it'd be funny," Naofumi said.
"Like I said, I already agree to your terms," Motoyasu said.
"I DON'T!" Ren yelled, though no one paid attention to him.
"Alright, we fight at sundown," Naofumi said. Motoyasu agreed before realizing that it was around noon.
This meant that for like eight hours, they were all sitting around doing practically nothing while Naofumi and his party worked the plantation.
"This is really boring..." one of the knights said. Why did they agree to fight at sundown again? Oh right, Motoyasu thought it was more 'dramatic.'
Sunset eventually came, and Naofumi and Motoyasu gathered in a makeshift arena.
"Alright, killing is forbidden, and pinning the opponent is considered a victory," Itsuki said, acting as referee.
"Yargh!" Motoyasu said, lunging at Naofumi.
Naofumi responded by doing... nothing. Because there was nothing he had to do; currently with all of his bonuses his defense was on par with a regular level 450 character. Motoyasu couldn't put a scratch on something like that, even with magic secretly buffing him from the onlookers. Neither could Malty's magic do anything either.
The issue was that Naofumi couldn't do much of anything to Motoyasu either.
Eight hours later...
"This is really boring..." one of the knights gathered there said. Most of the people had already fallen asleep while Motoyasu was still jumping around.
Naofumi's strategy was to just let Motoyasu tire himself out, which after twelve more agonizing hours, Motoyasu finally did, collapsing.
"Victory!" Naofumi yelled out.
A/N: Alright everyone, thanks for reading.
I do think I'm going to conclude the series here- reason being is like I've said earlier writing crack tends to be fun for a few chapters, but you run into a wall like I am where it's just 'Naofumi gets more Digimon every chapter and grows more powerful' over and over. And I'm running out of funny things to write. I would prefer to end this 'series' on a high note rather than keeping on stretching it like chewing gum for no reason. I think this is a good place to stop, with Naofumi victorious.
Ultimately, I think that it's hard to write satire/parody in a way that can go on for a while for too long without turning up just like what you're trying to parody or end up just making the same tired jokes over and over (kind of like what happened to The Boys.) I do think I've made my point though with all of these chapters. I hope you all enjoyed this, but I think it's time that I sign off on this story.
Once again, thank you all for reading.
