When Joey got home, she stopped short to find Bessie staring knowingly at her. "Hey Bessie."

"Joey." Bessie nodded, a slight smile on her lips, her eye quirking gently. "You know there's a boy in your room."

Dropping her and Pacey's backpacks on the floor she schooled her features turning to her sister. "It was his first day back, he got overwhelmed. I told him he could stay here."

"That's fine…just please warn us next time. Bodie nearly broke a jar of pickles trying to defend himself." Seeing Joey's eyes widen Bessie added. "But it barely left his hand before he saw it was Pacey."

"Good. That's good." Just hearing Pacey's name sent her heart into overdrive. "I'll go check on him."

"Good. Bodie said he seemed a little on edge. He told him to go lay down."

"Ok." Joey bit her lip nervously, she hadn't felt this way before even with Dawson. She could feel the pull to be near him, the rapid beat of her heart at just the thought of him. Licking her lips she still taste a hint of him on her lips, his soft touch as he cupped her cheeks when he kissed her.

"Joey!" Bessie's yell brought Joey back, her eyes bright with mirth for her little sister. "You okay Joey?"

"I'm fine." She chuckled walking backwards towards her room. "Let me know when dinners ready."

"Ok." Bessie snickered watching her stumble down the hall to her room.

Reaching her door Joey took a breath before opening it. She expected to find him asleep, cocooned in her sheets, his head buried in her pillow. Instead, she found him sitting on the edge of the bed, his head down in one of her books, his leg shaking uncontrollably. Closing the door softly behind her she made three long strides, stopping directly in front of him. "Pace."

His head shot up, his eyes displaying a definite fear. "Jo…Jo look I…"

Shaking her head she cupped his cheeks pulling his face to hers capturing his lips in a gentle kiss.

The book slipped to the floor as Pacey engaged in the kiss, his own hands cupping her cheeks.

As the kiss deepened Joey slid across his lap, getting more comfortable. Their tongues tangled and twined as Joey pushed him back, their bodies meeting intimately as she sat in a straddle over him.

Pacey groaned shaking his head, gently he pushed her back his breath heaving from his chest. "Jo…" When she tried to kiss him again, he shook his head moving back toward the other end of the bed putting physical space between them. "Jo stop."

"What? What's wrong?" Joey turned to him confused, when he didn't look up her own gaze dropped to the bed. "Pace?"

It was nearly a minute later when he responded, his voice low almost despondent. "What is this, Jo? I kissed you after the carnival and you pushed me back, saying in no uncertain terms that I wasn't what you wanted." He paused so that she thought he was done but when he spoke his voice was shaky, tears pooling in his eyes. "Is this a joke? Haha…or is this pity because I'm sick?"

Joey sat shell shocked her eyes wide as she tried to process what he said.

Her silence gave answer to the fear that he was alone. Alone in his heart. Alone in his body and alone in his soul. "I see." Sliding to the edge of the bed, he felt tears brim his eyes as he stood. The quick movement jostled his already weak body, nearly sending him to the floor.

Seeing him head for the door Joey jumped up grabbing his hand. "Pacey wait." Pulling him back around she met his eyes. "I'm not pitying you…its hard to explain."

Pacey turning more toward her squeezed her hand, hope etching his features. "Try."

"When you kissed me after the carnival, I was shocked, still thinking about Dawson…" She stopped watching him cringe, his eyes dropping to the floor. "But then you were gone for a week, and I found myself missing you. I went by your house and there was Gretchen, she told me about your diagnosis and my heart dropped."

Pacey scoffed dropping her hand he had to fight the urge to turn away.

His response made her gnaw at her lip. He didn't believe her, which hurt a little considering how long they'd known each other. "I went to Dawson's to tell him and that's when he showed his true colors."

"I figured." Pacey muttered crossing his arms across his chest. A wave of dizziness took over, making him reach for her, his hands shaking.

"Whoa Pacey." Joey hissed, grabbing his arm, guiding him back to the bed, sitting down with him. "I know you and I have had an odd relationship as friends that has been good and bad, mainly bad. And when I found out that you were sick, I wanted to change that because every time I thought about losing you…it scared me."

He scooted closer, grabbing her hand. She smiled flipping his hand over, her index finger tracing lines across his palm.

"Then we'd touch hands or hug…I don't know how to explain it." Biting her lip Joey tried to project what she meant. Deciding she lifted his hand, turning his palm to face her, she placed it over her heart, meeting his eyes. "This is what you do to me."

Pacey's eyes widened in shock, feeling the rapid beat of her heart against his palm. Grasping her hand, he mimicked her move placing her other hand over his heart. "This is how you've made me feel the last two years."

Joey's own eyes doubled feeling the rapid pulsating of his heart, her hand holding his lifted to caress his cheek pulling him in, catching his lips in a soft kiss. They exchanged a few soft kisses that quickly evolved into a never-ending passionate kiss. The intensity of the passion between them was so deep they didn't hear the door open, Bessie's jaw dropping to the floor at the sight. "Joey?"

The pair bolted apart their eyes wide and short of breath. Joey chuckled slightly running a hand through her tousled hair, her eyes diverting from an equally breathless Pacey to her confused sister. "Oh, hey Bess, what's up?"

"Dinners ready." Bessie hissed nodding toward the kitchen her eyes darting between the pair before letting out a dramatic huff and walking back into the living room.

Shaking her head Joey rolled her eyes turning back to Pacey. "You rest. I'll be right back." she added, pressing a deep kiss to his lips before turning and heading toward the kitchen. "Bessie."

"What in the hell did I just walk in on?" Bodie, who was prepping a salad on the counter next to them, looked up in intrigue listening to them talk. "Since when are you and Pacey…"

Joey rolled her eyes again, supplying for her sister, her eyes glaring at Bodie. "Kissing?...when the kids at school put him down he bolted and I followed. He said he didn't want to go back in, and I told him he didn't have to, then u went on to tell him how wrong those kids were…and then he kissed me." Joey smiled at the memory but then went on finding Bessie staring pointedly at her. "And I liked it so I kissed him…and we ended up making out. I knew I had to get back to class so I told him to come back her and we'd talk."

"And that was talking?" Bessie teased haughtily crossing her arms across her chest.

Joey blushed cupping her cheeks as she stared at her sister and brother-in-law in embarrassment. "That was after talking."

Bessie sighed and was going to respond when Bodie came up behind her, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. "So, what I'm getting here is that you and Pacey are an item now?"

Joey blushed an even deeper crimson, nodding.

"Ok…is he staying for dinner?"

"Yes…after he has a nap."

"Ok." Bodie acknowledged as Bessie shook her head and walked off.

Joey shook her head walking back into her room to check on Pacey.
