Amara and the Quest of Erebor

Prologue: Chosen and Isekaied to Middle-Earth

I was sitting in my classroom as I was not looking forward to going home for the summer vacation next week, having to listening to my grandmother yapping on and on about how my mother had wasted her life and how I was nothing but a mistake after a rushed marriage. Not to mention, being given every kind of chore to do in the house as none of my relatives saw fit to do it themselves. I lived with my mother Louisa and stepfather Hank along with my younger half-sister Laura while my grandmother lived a couple of blocks away.

After my father's death I was handed over to my mother's family, all of whom hated my father for some reason I didn't know of until I was much older. My late grandfather was the only one whom treated me with the same amount of love as he gave my mother as she grew up and even after his death he paid for me to go to a private boarding school so I could be away from my relatives which consist of my grandmother, my mother Louisa and half-sister Laura. He also left me a couple of books and a necklace that my sister and mother didn't want and so gave to me, but as they were once my beloved grandfather's possessions I treasured them as if they were coated in gold and priceless jewels.

It was thanks to him, I fell in love with anything fantasy related genre activities, from fighting styles to camping. He spent many weekends teaching me how to fight with wooden swords, archery and living life in the wilds. He took me on camping trips every summer, which my mother and sister hated more than anything else, and taught me how to survive without any modern conveniences.

The sound of the bell ringing snapped me out of my thoughts as everyone began to gather their things and leave for their next class but lucky for me that this was the lunch period so I can relax and eat for a bit before heading to my next class.

I walked in line to get food in the cafeteria, and once I had everything I wanted I walked out to find a table to sit at before the sound of a familiar voice called out.

"Ah Amara, over here." I turned to see it was a friend of mine, well not a friend-friend more of an aquaintance of sorts, sitting at a table with a few other 'friends'. I smiled as I walked over and sat with them as they all greeted me warmly buut I was not the most social type so I kept my distance while sitting with them.

"Hey y'all, what's up?" I asked as I greeted them all back, many of the girls that sat at the table were in one or two of my classes. For example:

Sophie Thomas was a fellow red-head but with very few freckles and lovely light blue eyes, she and I shared maths and science class as well as both of us being members of the archery and martial arts club.

The Bennet twins Tabitha and Titania were fraternal twins who shared only the same teal-green eye colour, I shared History and music classes with Titania while I had English class and drama club with Tabitha.

And finally with Julia, I shared textiles and cooking classes as well as gardening club, but on occassion we would help out with costumes and make-up for the Drama club's performances on big shows.

"We're going to a karaoke bar a few blocks away after school, wanna come?" Julia asked me as all the other girls looked to me with hopeful eyes, especially Titania as she has heard me sing in our shared music classes and she knew I could sing very well, some even said it was so beautiful it was almost like a siren's song.

It did sound nice to go, but I remembered the final exams next week and there were a few books I needed to get in order to study. "No thanks, I've got other plans." I said with a sad smile, as I ate with the girls we talked about our classes and plans for the summer vacation. I didn't say anything about my plans and continued to enjoy my food, as soon as the bell rang again and everyone went about the rest of the school day.

Several hours later, I was back in my dorm room changing out of my school uniform and into casual clothing. I grabbed my dufflebag and purse before making my way out to the city streets, passing the school gates I walked down the path as I smiled at myself. I only had unti the end of the week to find a cheap motel room to rent for the summer, in hopes of not going back to my relatives home.

I stopped at the light as the car and martial artss and trucks raced passed, and once the light indicated it was time to walk I began to do so before hearing someone call out to me:

"HEY KID! LOOK OUT!"

I turned to see a red sports car speading towards me before everything went black but I could still hear everything going on around me, I could also feel the agony of the impact from the car coursing through my whole body. Voices called out to me, telling me to hang on but I had no control as I could feel my spirit leaving my body, the voices began to fade as I then felt nothing but weightlessness and darkness...

That is until I heard a faint voice calling out to me, slowly growing louder and louder until I opened my eyes to see I was in a gorgeous garden filled with the most beath-takingly beautiful and sweet scented flowers and fauna I had ever seen. But then I saw a stone cave near the corner of the garden, but it wasn't just any cave it was built and arranged as a blacksmith workshop, filled with tools and materials of all kinds.

"Amara Harvelle." I sofe voice called out from behind me, I turned to see the most beautiful and motherly woman with long golden blonde hair and rosey complextion while wearing a earthy green dress I had ever seen standing with a tall, handsome and very well built man with slight tanned skin and muscles holding a blacksmiths hammer.

It took me a few minutes but I somehow knew who they were. "Yavanna... Aule..." I bowed in respect to the two gods of Arda, the ones I have read about so much after reading Tolkien's books for the first time at the age of eight.

Yavanna was the first to speak with a warm motherly smile on her face. "Young one, do you know why you are here?" She asked as I looked up at her and nodded my head.

"I died." I replied solemly, feeling sad as that means that I would never see my friends ever again but also some reliefe as that meant I wouldn't have to endure more emotional abuse from my grandmother, mother and Laura ever again.

"Yes. But we have chosen you to change the fate of my children, more specifically the fate of Thorin Oakenshield and his nephews. However, you must leave the one ring be, as the events that follow must happen for a reason." Aule explained, his voice was deep and rough but held a thick fatherly warmth that made me feel at ease with him despite his rather intimidating physique.

As I was about to protest that I wasn't able to take on such an important mission, Yavanna then knelt down infornt of me and took my hands in hers and looked me straight in my eyes as she explained.

"While that is true there are others who would be more qualified for this mission, we can see so much potential in you that would be wasted in your world. That is the reason we chose you and why we are granting you three favours each to help you."

"Anything I want?" I asked, seeing them nod I took a few minutes to think before making my first request. "Well, I would like to be able to use magic, but not just the magic of Middle-Earth but magic of my own creation and that I've seen in movies/tv shows and anime." For a second both Yavanna and Aule turned to each other and the back to me.

"We need to ask the rest of the Valar about that boon. Wait one moment." Yavanna said softly as she then closed her eyes, but after a few minutes Yavanne looked down at me and smiled. "They have given their permission. Anything else?"

After as few minutes, and a lot of explanations and showing Yavanna and Aule about anime, I then made my second wish. "Can I have the ability to use a skill set like in a video game? I would like to have the ability to use storage box and status file like in Death March in the Parallel World Rhapsody." I explained to them how benificial these skills would be I believe it will make the journey with the dwarves much easier as we wouldn't have to worry too much with restocking our supplies on the road or carrying around the gear as these skills would make it all a lot easier.

"That's a very good point." Aule said as he realised the point I was trying to make with these skills sets before asking me if there was anything else I wanted. I shook my head in a no as I already had everything set for my mission. I silently thanked my grandfather for allowing me to learn all those skills because of my love for fantasy.

Aule and Yavanna smiled as they each placed a hand on each of my shoulders and said. "Good luck, child."

I then blacked out cold without any warning...
