Bite Me
Molly floats up into the air, hovering over the stage with that terrifying smile on her crying face. Everyone below her just staring in fear. Some try to run away, unsure of what to do or how to escape.
Libby and Ollie don't run. They stay close to the stage, watching Molly and wanting to help, but they don't know how.
Libby looks to Ollie, knowing he was a ghost hunter and hoping he'll know what to do.
"Ollie, you've got to have some ghost hunting gear with you. Please…Help Molly!" Libby said.
Unfortunately, Ollie doesn't have his ghost hunting gear anymore. He no longer carries it with him since Molly changed his mind about ghosts. And yet, here they are. One bad ghost and the person they both care about the most, trapped in some kind of ghostly inner conflict.
Jinx speaks up, looking impressed.
"Yes! There's the girl who literally blew up the Chairman into a pile of colorful flowers with one boop on the nose! I knew you were in there. You just needed to let out your ghostly side. And now, you're mine to control!" Jinx said.
Jinx flies towards Molly at lightning speed, ready to possess her.
In the same moment, Molly holds up her hand and stops Jinx in mid air. A bright golden yellow glow forms around Jinx as she looks at Molly with fear.
Molly then looks at Jinx, that horrific smile on her face and bright golden yellow eyes staring into the purple ghost's soul.
With one clench of Molly's fist, Jinx starts to disintegrate into colorful flowers, just like her one true Chairman. Screaming as she disappears, leaving nothing but a mess of glowing flower petals.
Molly smiles, laughing in that manic tone she uses when she loses control.
"Bye bye, Jinx! Now you get to be with your one true Chairman…Forever!" Molly said.
Everyone below Molly starts freaking out even more. She ignores them and floats closer to the ground. Right next to Tammy.
Molly puts her hand up with an evil grin that looks unnatural on her usually innocent and smiley face.
"You're next!" Molly said.
Tammy stares with horror as a bright golden yellow glow forms around her.
Suddenly, Libby and Ollie jump in front of Tammy to protect her.
Molly looks at them, confused for a moment, then smiles again. Laughing through her tears.
"Wow! So I guess I really can't count on the people I love. I really am…Alone." Molly said.
The tears falling from Molly's face stop as she stands there, contemplating her worst fear. Being alone. Abandonment.
The terrifying smile disappears from Molly's face as her expression turns to one of hurt and nothingness all at the same time. It's overwhelming and numbing. Like Libby said before, she can feel it in her heart, a pain so deep. Loneliness.
The bright golden yellow glow fades around Tammy and she immediately runs away.
Both Libby and Ollie aren't sure what to do. Molly could snap at any moment in this ghostly state. Yet, she just looks confused and hurt.
Letting go of fear, Libby runs over to Molly and hugs her. Ollie starts to panic.
"Libby no!" Ollie yelled.
Libby ignores him, hugging her best friend as tight as she can. Tears falling as she hopes, in her kind gesture, she's letting Molly know that she's cared for and loved. That she's not alone.
"Molly, it's Libby. I'm here and I'm not going to let anything happen to you. I promise. You felt that hurt and pain, finally letting out all of those repressed emotions you hide so well behind a smile. Now it's time to let go." Libby said.
Once they break away from their hug, Libby looks into Molly's bright golden yellow eyes. Then, Molly's left eye changes back to normal. Libby can see how scared Molly looks so she holds her hand.
"I-I'm s-so sorry…" Molly said.
Libby smiles, happy to have her friend back.
"It's okay. Everything's going to be-" Libby replied.
Libby stops talking when Molly blasts a bolt of lightning between them, causing Libby to fly off the stage.
"Libby!" Ollie yelled.
Ollie looks down from the stage at where Libby landed. She's not moving. Then he looks back at Molly, both her eyes glowing bright golden yellow again. Her face plastered with that horrific smile.
Anger rises within Ollie, a feeling he doesn't experience much due to his kind heart. He's both angry at and sad for his girlfriend, but he's ready to fight back. Then he sees his sister June waving at him.
"Ollie, take this!" June said.
June throws Ollie a gadget that resembles a gun and he can't help but be cautious.
"I'm not going to hurt my girlfriend!" Ollie replied.
June rolls her eyes.
"I know that. Darryl and I were working on this as a secret project. It's a stun gun. It temporarily paralyzes ghosts so you can capture them. It won't hurt her. I promise." June said.
Ollie nods and stands to face Molly, or whatever this thing is. It doesn't even look like her anymore. She looks so lost. Smiling on the outside, but clearly hurting on the inside.
Molly laughs, the mania returning as she releases that pent up energy.
"Oh, you want to play? Well, alrighty then! Let's play!" Molly said.
Molly floats towards Ollie at lightning speed. He has to act fast.
The world moves in slow motion as Molly reaches for Ollie, ready to end him. He aims his weapon, then shoots.
A metal device comes out of the gun and attaches to Molly's chest, shocking her right where Jinx stabbed her with her scythe.
Molly gets a painful yet survivable shock sent through her system and screams. Then, she falls to the ground. Eyes closed, the hole in her chest no longer glowing bright golden yellow.
Just like Libby, Molly is motionless.
"Molly! No…" Ollie said.
Ollie throws the weapon to the side and rushes over to Molly. Tears stream down his face as he gently picks her up and holds her close. Fear rushing through him as he feels for her pulse.
Ollie waits, then feels a gentle heartbeat under the skin of her wrist. She still feels cold, so he takes his jacket off and wraps it around her. As he does this, he notices the hole in her chest has been cauterized by the electric shock. June's gadget ended up saving her.
Ollie smiles. It's a bit of light in all of this darkness.
"Everything's going to be okay, Molly. I promise. I've got you." Ollie said.
Ollie hugs Molly close, never wanting to let her go. Then, he hears her mumble something and looks at her. Her eyes are back to normal. Those genuinely happy eyes no longer filled with hurt and sadness, just a little fear and concern.
"A-Are you okay?" Molly asked.
Ollie laughs a little, tears in his eyes. Of course Molly would worry about anyone but herself. She cares deeply about the people she loves and that's her greatest strength.
"Yes. I'm okay. The real question is, how are you feeling?" Ollie asked.
Molly smiles, happy to be safe in her boyfriend's arms, and to be herself again.
"I'm okay. My head hurts and I feel like I've been stabbed in the back and struck by lightning all at once…But, other than that, everything is totally normal!" Molly replied.
Ollie laughs and Molly joins in. Her voice is so weak and it hurts, but she's happy. The genuine and sometimes overwhelming joy in her is back and it's nice to see.
Ollie gently lifts Molly up, carrying her through the crowd of people. He doesn't know how they'll react after what Molly's done, but they all seem calmer. This is a good sign.
Molly's nervous and scared. She didn't mean to do what she did, something in her just took over and got out of control. That joyful ghostly energy, both a gift of pure happiness and a curse of chaotic manic energy.
Suddenly, Tammy comes up to Ollie and Molly as she makes room for them to move through the crowd.
"Get out of the way everyone. Molly saved us from that purple ghost, Jinx. She's not a monster, or a freak…She's a hero." Tammy said.
Tammy smiles at Molly as she says this, clearing a path for her and Ollie to get through.
"T-thank you." Molly replied.
Tammy winks as Ollie and Molly make it to the exit, the doors now open since Molly's ghost powers are subdued.
Suddenly, Molly sees Libby lying on the floor with Darryl and June by her side. Both have hopeless looks as the truth hits them hard, but the one who's suffering most is Molly.
I did this. I couldn't control my ghostly energy and now Libby's hurt, or worse…I have to save her! I don't know how, but I'm going to. And after that, we can go back to talking and laughing and having fun like we always do. Promising that we'll be here for each other, no matter what…Forever.
Squirming her way out of Ollie's arms and barely able to stand, Molly crawls forward towards Libby. She starts to cry as she witnesses the aftermath of her chaotic ghostly energy.
"Libby…I-I'm so sorry! Please…Y-you have to w-wake up!" Molly said.
Molly hugs Libby, holding her friend close like she did for her. She needs to let Libby know she's here. That she'll never hurt her again.
Molly starts to cry, tears running down her face as the sadness and guilt overwhelm her.
"P-please! Libby, I-I can't lose you…Please…" Molly said.
Ollie, Darryl, and June all gather around the two best friends. It's sad, seeing Molly so heartbroken after having gone through a traumatic nightmare of a dance that was supposed to be fun.
Suddenly, Molly's eyes start to glow bright golden yellow again and she closes them, taking deep breaths and focusing her joyful ghostly energy. Her tears fall onto Libby, burning from the heat in Molly's eyes but also doing something magical.
Ollie, Darryl, and June all get ready to protect Libby, knowing Molly's eyes glowing isn't a good sign. They stop when they realize this is different. Watching in shock as Libby starts to breathe, slowly waking up.
"M-Molly…" Libby said.
Molly's eyes immediately change back to normal and she hugs Libby, a little too tightly.
"Libby, you're okay!" Molly said.
Molly stops hugging Libby as soon as she hears her groan in pain.
"Oh, sorry! Hugging a little too tight again haha" Molly said.
Libby laughs, trying to hold back her tears seeing that Molly is okay. But, turning into a human ghost hybrid didn't come without any side effects.
Libby takes the loose strand of Molly's hair on her right side, it's this bright golden blonde color, like lightning. Matching her bright ghostly energy.
With a simple nod, Libby smiles.
"I love the new hair." Libby said.
Molly grabs the strand of her hair and stares at it, a bit shocked but also intrigued. She can't help but smile.
"Wow! I love it! It just shows that, even after all of the craziness that's happened, there's always a little light in darkness." Molly said.
Everyone else smiles and laughs a little. Classic Molly, always able to find a silver lining. It's what they all love about her.
Then, Ollie chimes in.
"Alright, let's get you both to the hospital. After this crazy night, I think we all need some rest." Ollie said.
Molly and Libby nod. Libby stands up, seemingly fine after Molly healed her. But Molly is still worn out, so she reaches her arms out to Ollie.
"Carry me?" Molly asked.
Ollie laughs and picks her up as carefully as he can, not wanting to do anymore damage to his fragile yet strong girlfriend.
"What are we going to do with you?" Ollie asked.
Molly smiles, laughing a bit mischievously.
"I have no idea haha But you've all got me forever. I'm not going anywhere. That's a Molly McGee guarantee!" Molly replied.
