Erin Lindsay and Jay Halstead are both on the intelligence team, and they have a beautiful daughter called: Lila-Marie-Lindsay-Halstead.
It was early morning, and the Halstead-Lindsay-Household was busing around the apartment, trying to get Lila's things ready for school.
"Li" someone called from downstairs.
In Lila's room, the curtains were drawn closed, and she had her uniform all lined up neatly in the closet.
Lila heard the voice get louder, and she recognised it as her dad's
"I'M COMING! HOLD YOUR HAIR IN!" She shouted back.
Lila got into her uniform, stole some makeup from Erin's bag, and she was ready to go.
"L-." Jay started.
He stopped when he saw Lila standing at the stairs.
"Good Job! You look adorable!"
Lila groaned, and Erin was in the kitchen, rubbing her baby bump.
"Morning, baby." Erin cooed.
Lila smiled and hugged her.
"Hi Baby brother or sister." She spoke softly to the bump.
Jay walked into the kitchen, feeling jealous.
"Don't I get a good morning?"
Erin and Lila looked up at each other, and giggled.
"C'mere, babe." Erin smirked.
Jay walked over and hugged his wife.
"How's our little bean doing?" He asked.
Erin laughed, and rubbed her stomach.
"He or she is doing good, kicking up a storm!"
Jay laughed softly, and placed the coffee in the machine.
"But, overall?"
Erin looked up, and nodded.
"Overall? We're good!"
Jay smiled and sipped his coffee.
"You're forgetting someone!" Lila spoke up.
Erin and Jay looked up, confused.
"Who are we forgetting?"
Lila groaned, and pointed to herself.
"You're firstborn!"
Erin and Jay giggled and hoisted her into the air.
"We could never forget you, froggy!"
Lila giggled and snuggled into Jay's arms.
"Oh! Now, I get daddy snuggles?"
Lila playfully punched his shoulder, and yawned.
"Alright, better get this one to school, before she manipulates me into letting her stay off!" Jay decided.
Erin got up, and waddled slowly over.
"Yeah, remember we got that appointment at half past four." Erin reminded.
Jay nodded, and grabbed his gear and badge.
"I'll be there!"
Erin nodded, and sat slowly on the couch.
"You better be, mister!"
Jay smirked, and opened the door.
"Love you both!"
Erin rubbed her bump, and it gave a kick.
"We love you both too!"
Before Jay could leave, Lila woke up.
"Bye-Bye, Mama…"
Erin blew a kiss and Lila caught it.
"Bye, my baby girl, I love you so much."
Jay left the apartment, and it was Erin alone at home.
"So, what should we do, bean?"
Erin got a kick in response and it meant hunger.
"Alright, you're giving that kick, let's go eat!"
At Lila's school. Jay pulled up outside the gates.
"Alright, Li. You ready?"
Lila looked outside the window, and her hands got all wet.
"W-What if I get bullied again, daddy?" She sniffled.
Jay closed his eyes, feeling the tears already forming.
"Listen to me, baby, I promise. Daddy promises, you will not get bullied, you know Grandpa Hank? He made sure you're not bullied, I promise."
Lila looked at Jay, and placed a small hand in his medium one.
"Okay, daddy! I believe you!"
Jay smiled, holding her close.
"Good job, froggy, now go get 'em."
Lila grabbed her bag, and got out of the car.
"Have a good day, baby! I love you!"
Lila waved and blew a kiss, and wandered into the school.
After a minute. Jay pulled up his phone to reassure Erin.
To Erin:
Hey, babe!
Lila got off to school, okay! I reassured her about what Hank said. I'm gonna pick up a few files from the district, then I'll be home!
Erin looked up from her Mac and Cheese, and read the text.
To Jay:
Hey!
Thank you! I'm glad she got off to school.
See you in a bit!
Erin put her cell down, and finished her Mac and Cheese.
As Jay drove through the windy streets of Illinois. He soon arrived at the district.
He got out of the truck, and rushed into the district.
Jay scanned the district, and noticed Platt's desk with the files he was after.
"Hey, Platt!"
Platt looked up, and put her pen down.
"What's up, Chuckles?"
Jay smirked, and quipped back.
" "Detective Chuckles" if you don't mind?"
Platt scoffed, and picked up the files.
"These were mailed to you."
Jay took the files, reading over them.
"Just what I was looking for…"
After skimming and scamming the files, he looked up.
"Thanks, Platt!"
Jay went to walk out, but Platt stopped.
"Wait! Wait…" Platt called back.
Jay sighed, just wanting to go home.
"Before you ask! Erin's fine, Bean is fine, Erin's been up at all hours with bean, she's now resting on the couch, with my leftover, Mac and Cheese. Has that answered your question?"
Platt was shocked, but nodded.
"Alright, Halstead! Get outta here!"
Jay nodded, and walked out of the district.
After Awhile. Jay arrived back at the apartment, and noticed the tub of his leftover Mac and Cheese was empty.
"Oh, babe!"
Erin woke up, and yawned.
"Sorry, didn't realise I ate that much."
Jay smiled and sat heavily on the couch.
"You got something on your mind, what is it?" Erin whispered.
Jay looked at her, and brushed it off.
"It's nothing."
Erin studied him, noticing his slight tremor in his legs.
"Babe, I've known you for about six years, I can tell when something's on your mind. Now, tell me."
Six years? That's long.
Erin nodded, and grabbed his hand.
"I can hear the wheels in your head, please tell me, baby."
Jay sighed, giving up the facade.
"A-Alright, I've been thinking, what if my dad's right?"
Erin sat closer, knowing this was a tough topic.
"Wha-What if your dad was right about what, babe?"
Jay closed his eyes, and reopened them.
"Right about me, me not becoming a good father…?"
Erin pulled Jay's head to look in her eyes.
"Jay Halstead. Listen to me…"
Jay gulped, nodding.
"You are an excellent father, as well as being the most handsomest man, I saw how you were with Lila this morning, she loves you, so do I. She loves you giving her a bath, reading books for school as well as nighttime stories, she loves you trying to braid her hair, even if you get her hair in a messy mess, meaning I have to take over. She finds that funny, so do I. We love you both so very much, even Bean does. Don't ever think, you're like your dad, because Voight is your father figure, and sometimes you act like him, even when it's a bit too much for me to handle, but your strong, your a great cop, who risks his life to be who he is, and that's you, so get all those memories out of your head, and fill them with memories of positive thoughts not negative ones, because I promise, I will get on my hands and knees and twerk in your face," Erin smirked.
Jay laughed and sniffled.
"Don't cry, baby, or you're gonna make Bean cry, and we all know what happens when bean cries."
Jay nodded, and kissed her lips.
"Thank you, for letting me hear that…"
Erin smiled, and nodded.
"Course, babe. That's what wives and partners are for."
Jay smirked, and gathered her in his arms.
"And, I love you for that.."
Erin sighed, and snuggled into his chest.
It soon reached 3pm. Lila and Kayleigh walked out of the gates.
"There's my mom!" Kayleigh exclaimed.
Kim Burgess was Kayleigh's mom and Adam Ruzek was the biological father.
"Hey, kiddo's!" Adam smiled.
Kayleigh and Lila giggled and hugged them.
"Where's my mom and daddy?" Lila asked.
Kim crouched down and smiled.
"Remember that appointment they had to go to?"
Lila thought for a moment, then agreed.
"Well, that's where they've gone to make sure your baby brother or sister is alright!"
Lila nodded, feeling better.
"Who's up for some pizza?!" Adam asked.
The girls all cheered and scrambled into the car.
Adam shut the door, and got into the passenger side.
While Kim got into the driver's side, and drove off.
At Chicago Med. Erin and Jay were in the waiting area.
"Never knew, hospitals could be so boring!" Jay said aloud.
The whole room fell silent, and Erin apologised, thwacking Jay on the arm.
"Quiet, Mister! Not everyone in this room needs to know your thoughts."
Jay giggled, and rubbed his arm playfully.
"Erin?" Will called.
Erin and Jay got up and followed Will.
"Sup, trouble!" Erin smirked.
Will felt offended, but laughed.
"Alright, hop on the bed, ma'am."
Erin ruffled his hair playfully and laid on the bed.
"Any discomfort or pain I should know about?"
Erin eyed Jay, and quipped.
"Does a "pain in my ass" count?"
Will laughed, and rolled up Erin's shirt.
"Alright. Let's check how my nephew or niece is."
The probe rolled over Erin's stomach, and no heartbeat was detected yet.
"Umm, what's taking so long, man?" Jay asked, concerned.
Will sensed his brother's worry, so he reassured him.
"Some babies can be in awkward positions, I'll find it in a few secs."
Erin looked at Jay, and grabbed his hand.
"What if everything's going wrong?" Erin whispered.
Jay leant down, and kissed her head, whispering sweet nothings.
"If my brother can't find it. We'll get a new doc-."
A little heartbeat stopped the sentence, and Erin sniffled.
"I-Is that it? Is that the heartbeat?"
Will smiled and nodded, and turned it up.
The heartbeat was continuous, and it brought tears to Erin and Jay's eyes.
"Can you hear that, babe?"
Jay kissed Erin's shoulder and nodded.
"Yeah, your doing so well, I'm so proud of you…"
Erin closed her eyes, a breath of relief washing over her.
"Alright, do you want to know the sex?" Will asked.
Erin and Jay looked up and decided.
"Yeah, we do." Erin and Jay said simultaneously.
Will laughed, and nodded.
As Will moved the probe downward, he smiled.
"You're expecting a little baby girl. Congratulations."
Erin and Jay squealed and hugged each other, and were a bit close to making out.
"Alright! Alright! As much as I love you both, I don't wanna see another little Halstead being made."
Erin and Jay laughed and got off the bed.
"Thanks, Man!" Jay smiled.
Will nodded, hugging him.
"Anytime, baby brother!"
Erin struggled to get of the bed.
"A little help?"
Will and Jay rushed over and helped her off the bed.
"Alright! You ready, babe?"
Jay nodded, and walked out with Erin.
At Burgess-Ruzek's apartment. They were eating pizza.
"Can I have some more? Uncle Adam?" Lila asked, shyly.
Adam looked up, and smiled.
"Course you can! There's plenty! Chicken strips, burgers, pizzas?"
Lila chose one small burger, two chicken strips, as well as two pizza slices.
"Your mom and dad will be here soon, honey." Kim said.
Lila nodded and carried on chewing on her food.
After Awhile. The door buzzed, and Adam answered it.
Adam opened the door, and it was Erin and Jay.
"Hey, you two! Come on in!"
Erin and Jay walked inside and Lila rushed over.
"Mama! Daddy!"
Erin and Jay crouched down and lifted her into their arms.
"Hi Baby!" Erin cooed.
Jay kissed Lila's cheek and smiled.
"What have you been eating, with Auntie Kim and Uncle Adam?"
Lila ran back towards her plate and showed her half empty plate of food.
"We hope it's alright? We didn't know how long you'd be?" Kim explained.
Erin and Jay shook their heads, and smiled.
"It's fine! But, can I have some of your food, baby?"
Everyone giggled and Lila gave Jay and Erin a piece of pizza.
"Thanks, Froggy? Very generous!" Jay giggled softly.
Erin and Jay ate the pizza and Kayleigh hugged Erin and Jay.
"Is little baby okay, Auntie Erin?" Kayleigh asked.
Erin sat down and nodded.
"Little baby is fine, sweetie!"
Kayleigh giggled and ran back over to Lila.
"So, how'd it go?" Kim asked.
Erin and Jay sighed, and smirked.
"We're having a little girl…" Jay admitted.
Kim and Adam jumped up and squealed.
"OMG! A little Halstead running around!" Kim exclaimed.
Adam hugged Jay and clapped him on the back.
"Proud of you, man!"
Jay smiled and hugged back.
"Alright! We should be getting home!" Erin suggested.
Jay grabbed Lila's things and Kim placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Listen, if it's alright with you, we decided to have Lila over for a sleepover?"
Jay looked at Erin, who was slowly standing up.
"Babe? Is it alright is Lila stays for a sleepover?"
Erin waddled over, concerned.
"She has school in the morn-."
Adam and Kim stopped her from finishing.
"We'll sort all that out! We thought it'd be nice for you guys to have a break from parenthood!"
Erin and Jay looked at each other, and smirked.
"That's very nice of you guys, thank you." Erin nodded.
Jay nodded, smiling.
"Yeah, we could have a lie in, before Voight gets our asses up!" Jay suggested.
As Jay stretched, his shirt rose a bit, and Erin took this opportunity to wrap her arms around his stomach.
"Why is it always when I stretch, it leads to a stomach hug?"
Erin smirked, and giggled.
"Because, you got more warmth, when you stretch."
Jay shrugged, agreeing.
"Fair enough!"
As Erin and Jay got ready, they walked over to Lila.
"Lila, sweetie!" Erin called.
Lila ran over and held Erin's hands.
"Auntie Kim and Uncle Adam are being nice to let you stay over tonight, so me and daddy can have some time together, so if you'd like to stay over tonight, we're okay with it."
Lila thought about it and nodded.
"Yes, please! Mama!"
Kayleigh looked up from her pizza, and smiled.
"Yay!"
As Kayleigh ran over, she was now confused.
"What am I excited about?"
They all giggled, and explained.
"Lila staying over for a night, baby." Adam explained.
Kayleigh giggled and jumped up.
"Yay! Sleepover! Sleepover!"
Lila and Kayleigh started doing a little dance and Adam joined in.
"Alright, let's get out of here, before Jay starts to join in." Erin teased.
Jay playfully thwacked her head, and walked out of the house.
"Wait! Mama and Daddy!" Lila called.
Erin and Jay stopped in their tracks, and noticed Lila hugging them.
"Love you, mama and daddy!"
Erin and Jay awed and hugged her back.
"We love you so much too, baby." Erin cooed.
Lila said her good nights and Erin and Jay got into the truck.
As Jay drove off. Erin waved back at Lila and everyone.
"Bye Mama and Daddy!" Lila shouted.
After a few minutes. Lila walked back inside and Kim locked the door.
