6. Chapter 6: Problems and Solutions

Hello everyone and welcome back.

This is the last filler chapter for a while, as it mostly finishes up the set up in town and gets the ball rolling in some other matters.

Sorry for delay but life and work mean I only have limited times to write.

Not much else to say or go over, let's get the show on the road.

CHAPTER 6: PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

AMITY

It has been two weeks since Danny had rescued the alien girl and gone to Clockwork. Not a great deal had changed other than Danny had gotten more involved in training and learning as much as he could, which had improved a great deal thanks to Clockwork's help and guidance.

The ancient ghost didn't give off the feel of power, but he certainly had it, just not in ways most would consider it. He had helped immensely in directing Danny in both training and expanding his knowledge base.

Danny knew he'd want something in return, but he didn't care at the moment. He knew his darker self was more of a priority to Clockwork and knew that his job was to keep the timeline stabilized, meaning he was an ally of Danny's so long as Danny didn't fuck around with things too much.

Something Danny had no interest in doing anyway.

The other change was the alien girl, named Koriand'r or Starfire in English, had begun living with them.

It turns out her homeworld had been at war with a rather grotesque, savage, and brutal race called Gordanians and she and her sister, who were both princesses, had been sent away in different ships. Starfire had been captured and was to be a trophy for the savages to end the war, but Starfire had managed to overpower her guards and launch the escape pods with her in one. She hadn't plotted a course, she just punched (literally) in coordinates randomly and jettisoned the pods.

The downside was that A) she had no idea where she would end up and B) The Gordanians would have the coordinates used and thus would eventually come looking here for her.

When was unknown since it would depend on which pods they looked into first and when they'd get to track hers.

Of course, she was knocked off course by a comet and thus it would be hard to find her since she didn't know if she was at the coordinates or not.

Still, Danny knew he'd have to work harder to prepare for the inevitable visit/invasion that would be coming here.

Just on the safe side, he had wished from Desiree that the Gordanians would be delayed as much as possible from coming here.

She couldn't just block them or erase them due to limits on her powers and something else as well that Clockwork had told him about.

Throughout the timelines and timestreams, there were fixed points in them. Fixed points were events/occurrences that could never be stopped or removed from the timeline, they could be altered or changed minutely, such as how long it took to happen or perhaps the method of it happening, but could never be stopped from happening.

For instance, Pariah Dark was always going to invade due to Vlad waking him up and Danny would fight him, his father dying was a unique bit to this timeline.

Another was that Danny would always become part ghost, but what happened from there was always different.

The Gordanians invading was apparently a fixed point, they could delay it and make it so that nothing bad happened from the invasion, but it would still HAVE to happen at some point and as such Desiree couldn't affect it to the point the invasion never occurred.

There were a few EXTREMELY rare people in the multiverse/timestreams, as in less than 1 in 500 Quintillion People, that could alter fixed points and disrupt the time flow without catastrophic occurrences being guaranteed. They were known as Weavers and it was because in the past it was believed that they cut through and changed the woven tapestry known as fate and destiny, they could stop a person from dying, kill someone who was supposed to live far longer, change outcomes, and alter the very destiny of those around them whether intentionally or not.

Danny, to his knowledge and Clockwork's, wasn't one such person and they were incredibly dangerous since the alterations that Weavers made could be result in more disastrous results than the original was going to have or it could be grander than anyone ever dreamed. There was just no way to tell.

Anyway, with the Gordanians delayed for an undetermined amount of time, Danny focused on his work and his new houseguest.

A primary thing for her was to shorten the time it took her to go from human to dragon and the reverse. While the dragon form gave power, strength, and durability, it lacked speed, agility, stealth, finesse, and maneuverability. If she could get the time down, then she could switch instantly between the two forms using them as she pleased and combining their traits to her benefit. It would make her stronger than her brother since he relied on his dragon form and only used his human one to possess someone or to keep a low profile.

Danny had also gone to Frostbite and gotten his clan's help in furthering his ice powers. They were all eager to do so, glad to help their chieftain/king in any way he needed. They were also able to help him a bit with his electric and fire powers, the latter of which Ember had been helping with as best she could since hers were more centered on her music and guitar than straight up elemental power.

Desiree could grant him power up to a certain point and even control, to a certain point, of his powers, but he didn't want that right now. He wanted to train, experiment, and try out his powers rather than just having them be at a certain point that he didn't even know fully what it was.

There was also the fact Desiree admitted she didn't know if she could make her master stronger since she knew his power easily dwarfed hers. Their bond made her stronger, but the bond worked both ways so Danny grew from it too, maybe not as much as Desiree was but still gaining from it.

Even if she was free of her curse, she was still a genie and, bound to Danny or not, she was still restrained by rules and laws pertaining to genies. One such thing was that she couldn't affect someone who's power was greater than hers, hence why she had constantly tried to grow her power before Danny freed her.

She had no shame in admitting that Danny outclassed her in power, meaning she wasn't able to do much that could affect him unless she received a major power boost and then directed her magic at him before the bond could strengthen him. Basically, she could grant him most wishes, but she had her limits and he had to make due.

Danny didn't mind though, both for the fact he preferred to train and the fact that if Desiree ever somehow got corrupted or controlled, her powers couldn't be used against him to that degree.

At the moment, he was in his office going over some paperwork and plans.

His militia idea was still on the burner at the moment, mainly due to the fact if he started arming and militarizing people then more scrutiny and attention would be brought down on the town.

Sadly, the best way to incorporate the idea was to wait for another major attack. If the town was the target of attacks outside of just ghosts, then no one could justifiably balk at the idea of them forming a military or defense force to counter it. Anyone who did would receive massive backlash from doing so as they were essentially saying the town shouldn't defend themselves against threats.

Of course, to set up the militia, he fully intended to find a better name for it by the time it was functional, he needed a variety of recruits. Trainers, leaders, techs, coordinators, outfitters, medics, engineers, mechanics, specialists, and more.

He had a list, but he needed to coordinate some things before he could reach out to some of them. Others were much easier to contact and make offers to.

One such candidate was Star's aunt that she had mentioned. Said women had gained the nickname Mercy for her skills and talents in medicine, but her real name was Angela Ziegler.

Star hadn't been wrong in that she was talented and had wanted to start her research and development of new medical practices, but couldn't get funding. Danny didn't have a major understanding of medicine, but just from his looking over of her proposals and research told him that she was on the right track but wasn't quite correct in some of her hypotheses.

How Danny knew that? He wasn't sure, but he had a guess and it involved a certain clock ghost either being responsible or having the answer.

At the moment though, Danny wasn't going to worry about it too much since he needed to focus on other things and keep pushing forward.

His research projects had been going well and he was very close to finding a new element, but finding it and being able to create it were two vastly different things.

He also began moving some of his research into weapons, vehicles, armor, equipment, medical supplies, and more. He'd find a balance of what he would sell to others and what he kept for his own people to use.

At the very least, he'd have kill switches put into the gear so if he did sell it or it was stolen then he could make said gear useless. A rather plain trick that the smarter businessmen used just in case someone ever attempted to rob or kidnap them using their own creations.

Anyway, a few others on his radar were a few workers for other companies and groups as well as some less savory members of society. Danny would give them a better chance at life in exchange for their loyalty and actually putting in work when necessary. Desiree already made it so his major secret was hidden and she could help with ensuring things didn't go wrong later as well.

Cortana was also learning and adapting as well while also looking into various sources, individuals, happenings, and more, especially anything pertaining to the occult.

He did NOT want too many magical items being out in public without his knowledge, least of all what they were and could do. Maybe he'd have Bayonetta help him since she had her own contacts.

"KILL THE ABOMINATION AND THE WITCH! THEY SHALL MARK THE BEGINNING OF OUR CLEANSING THIS WORLD!" One of the red ones roared as the swarm became more aggressive.

"Oh, seems you have gained a bit of their attention, they sent some Ardors after you in addition to the Affinities." Bayonetta commented idly as she stomped one Ardor into the ground and began stomping him further before rearing back and making a large foot construct that kicked it and sent it crashing into others.

"Guess so, figured I'd still warrant something beyond the Third Sphere at this point, even if some of these Ardors are said to be as strong as a Second Sphere." Danny commented as she caught the sword of one between his hands before kicking them back and then using the sword to cut down more of the Laguna.
