Chapter 25: Friend? Foe?
During dinner, Ben and Ace would not look at each other
Nick: - (What should I do? Both my brothers are at each other's throats.)
Ben and Ace finished dinner and went to there room, slamming their doors shut
Splat: - What's with those 2?
Nick: - They got into a fight cause Ben called Ace Thunder Puppy and Ace called Ben Hover Mouse
Kai: - giggles
Ace: - (KAI! STOP LAUGHING AT ME!)
Kai: - (Sorry)
Splat: - Sheesh Ace
Ace: - (Don't push me!)
Splat: - (I didn't say anything)
Ace: - (scoff)
Splat: - Never seen Ace this mad
Nick: - Kenny also got Ace upset earlier today, likely another reason why he's like this
Splat: - What did Kenny do?
Ace: - (HE KEPT READING MY MIND WHEN I ASKED MULTIPLE TIMES TO STOP DOING THAT, AND HE CONTROLLED MY EMOTIONS! THAT IS WHY!)
Splat: - (Can you stop yelling?)
Ace: - (MAKE ME!)
Splat: - Sis, your child doesn't care to give respect to their elders
Lisa: - Just let him be. Whenever he's mad, he will not listen to reason from me or Jake
Splat: - You're ok with that?
Lisa: - I talked to mom and dad about it, and they told me that it's best to leave him be till he cools down
Splat: - Ok
T Ace: - Ace seems to get more mad than me whenever Ben gives me a shock on my tail
Ace: - (HEY!)
T Ace: - Sorry Ace
Everyone finished their dinner and went to bed
Next day Ace and Ben would still not look at each other
Nick: - (Man, I thought they would have forgotten about what happened yesterday. I guess not)
The 3 brothers got ready and went down to have breakfast
Lisa: - Morning
Ace, Nick, and Ben: - Morning mom
Lisa: - What do you guys want for breakfast?
Ace: - Not hungry
Nick: - I would like eggs
Ben: - Waffles for me
Lisa: - Ace you sure you don't want anything? You have a game later today.
Ace: - I'm sure. I'll eat something in the cafe at school
Lisa: - Ok
After Nick and Ben finished there breakfast
Ace: - Ready to go, Nick?
Nick: - Yeah, me and Ben are ready-
Ace: - No, just you.
Nick: - Care to say that again?
Ace: - You're the only one who is going to be riding with me in the car, not Ben
Nick: - Ah why?
Ace: - I don't have time for that question. Now, are you going to get into the car or do you want to be left in the dust?
Lisa: - Ace, that's no way to talk to your brother
Ace: - Scoffed
Ben started to walk to school and Ace waited for Nick in his car
Nick: - I'm worried for them
Lisa: - You and me both. I'm just not sure how to make them both stop fighting each other
Nick: - I guess we have to wait it out
Lisa: - Mhm
Nick goes and gets into Ace's car and drove to Nick's school
Nick: - Ace?
Ace: - …
Nick: - (Guess you don't want to talk still)
When they got to Nick's school
Ace: - We're here, now get out of my ride
Nick: - Ok
Once Nick gets out of the car, Ace drove off very quickly
Nick: - Rude
Ned: - Hey Nick
Nick: - Hey
Ned: - What is the matter?
Nick: - Both of my brothers had a fight, and now I have to deal with the fact that they would not look at each other. I don't get why they have to be mean to me. I had nothing to do with their fight
Ned: - Oh geez. I'm thankful I don't have a brother to deal with
Nick: - sigh
Ned: - Sorry
Nick: - It's ok, Ned. I'm just not sure what to do to help my brothers out
Ned: - Let's think of something during lunch
Nick: - Alright
Meanwhile at North High
Ace is still fuming from the fights between Ben and Kenny
Sees Kenny waiting for him
Kenny: - Hey
Ace: - ….
Kenny: - Still mad I see
Ace: - Your spirit never dies
Kenny: - Huh?
Ace: - …..
Kenny: - You say something then go silent on me.
Ace: - …
Kenny: - You were listening to Warriors by Imagine Dragons
Ace: - Maybe says it with sly face
Kenny: - You really don't have control over that song
Ace: - …
Kenny: - Your face may lie, but your tail says otherwise
Ace looked behind him and gives a death stare to Kenny
Alex and others show up
Alex: - Hey Ace, ready for today's game?
Ace: - Yeah, I'm ready
Kenny: - Oh, so you'll talk to them but not your best friend?
Jack: - What's going on between you two?
Kenny: - I was being annoying, Ace went and told my mom, and now I don't have my phone for a week
Will: - Why did you do that, Ace?
Ace: - I don't feel like talking about it
Mark: - Ok?
Alex: - You want to explain?
Kenny: - Sure thing
Ace: - I'll see you guys at lunch. I don't want to be here with him
Kenny: - You gotta be kidding me
Alex: - Let him be man
Kenny: - Ok
Ace went to class and everyone was still in the hall
Mark: - The floor is open for you to talk, Ken master
Kenny explains what happened to the others
Alex: - Why did you do that?
Kenny: - You know how often Ace comes to me to help him solve a problem
Mark: - Still, it's wrong of you to do that to your best friend.
Jack: - Let me put it this way: If Ace did the same thing to you, How would you feel about it?
Kenny: - You're right about that
Will: - You should go apologize to Ace, and promise to him you won't use your powers like that again
Kenny: - Right
Bell rings
Kenny: - We should head to class now
Alex: - Remember to talk to Ace and say you're sorry
Kenny: - Alright alright, sheesh
Everyone went to class and everything was normal till lunch time
Ace was the first one down getting his food
When everyone got down there Ace was already at the table eating
His friends get there food and got to the table
Alex: - You got here fast
Ace: - Yeah, I skipped breakfast this morning and I was getting hungry, so I ran all the way down here so I can start eating
Jack: - Why skip breakfast?
Ace: - Ben got on my nerves, and so did Kenny, so I decided to skip breakfast to get away from the problem
Mark: - You sure that was a good idea to do?
Ace: - Yeah, it's alright
Kenny: - Ace can you forgive me? I'm sorry for what I did, and I swear I will not use my power on you without asking, if you're ok with that
Ace: - …..
Kenny: - Ace?
Will: - Come on, man. Kenny said he was sorry
Ace: - How do I know he's not just saying that to get on my good side?
Kenny: - You know what, I'm going to sit at another table today
Kenny walks off to another table
Alex: - What the heck man?!
Will: - Kenny is your best friend and you just blew him off?
Ace: - He deserved it after what he did to me
Jack: - Not cool
Alex: - Let's go sit with Kenny, and let our so called great captain enjoy himself
Kenny: - I kinda feel bad for doing this
Alex: - You know what? I kinda feel the same as well
Jack: - Same here
Kenny: - Maybe Ace will feel better during the game, since his mind will be more focused on that
Jack: - Speaking of your mistake, where is Ben?
Kenny: - Haven't seen him today. Guess he's staying away from Ace
Will: - Might be the case
Ace slid a spoon in his pocket and a cup of yogurt in backpack for snack later on
After Lunch, everything was normal
After school was let out for the day, the football team went to practice before the game
Ace: - You guys ready for the game today?
Jack: - I'm ready
Alex: - I'm ready to take down Matthew's team a peg or two
Will: - Are we even ready for this game?
Kenny: - Yup this will be a piece of cake
Ace: - That is good to hear, but before the game, I want you guys to practice on your weakness
Kenny: - Ace?
Ace: - Hmm?
Kenny: - Can we talk about the game?
Ace: - Sure
Kenny: - (At least he's talking to me) Do you think we'll win today?
Ace: - I'm not sure. I mean sure, we did work on what we can improve on as a team, but it's hard to say how much better Matthew's team has gotten since the last time we faced them
Kenny: - I see
Ace: - Was there something else you want to talk about?
Kenny: - I'm sorry
Ace: - Hmm?
Kenny: - I'm sorry for what I did yesterday, and I will keep my powers under check. Just please stop ignoring me
Ace: - ….. Ken
Kenny: - I knew it was too good to be true
Ace: - I forgive you man

Ace: - Good, now let's get to practicing, so we can take Scottsdale down a peg or two

Jack: - It's a good thing those 2 patched up
Will: - Mhm. If they were still fighting during the game, we would lose for sure.
Alex: - Jack, Will, get back to work, else Ace will make you run laps around the field
Jack and Will: - Right. Sorry, Alex
Ace and Kenny came back to the others
Ace: - Everyone warmed up?
Everyone: - Yes, Captain
Mew of Mayhem enters Ace's body
Ace: - Good. Now, let's make a game plan for the game
Devon: - Game plan?
Ace: - Yeah, cause this year, I want us to beat Scottsdale High
Jack: - Seems like Ace is fired up for the game
Will: - He must be tired of getting laughed at by Matthew's team
Ace: - Yup, so lets make sure our spirits never die and rise above to prove ourselves
Everyone facepalmed
Will: - You have got to be kidding me
Alex: - He had to use those lines
Ace: - Come on, guys. What's the problem?
Kenny: - Do you need to quote Imagine Dragons, Warriors?
Ace: - Not this again
Everyone: - Yes Ace
Ace: - Hehe sorry guys. You know how much I like that song

Just then a bus full of Scottsdale football players showed up
Ace: - Seems like Matt's team just got here
Kenny: - We didn't even start practice yet, and they just arrived?
Ace: - Come on Kenny, we need to 'show some respect' to our rivals
Kenny: - Come again?
Alex: - What's with Ace today? The song, I understand, but why is he talking about Scottsdale like that? There's something wrong here
Jack: - What does Ace have in mind?
Ace: - You know I can hear you, right? For your information, I'm just saying that we should try to put Matt's team in their place tonight.

The door to the bus opens and the players started to walk off
Devon: - But how are we going to practice when they're all here?
Jason: - It's not like we have a 2nd football field here
Ace: - Don't need it

Devon: - How prepared does he think we are?
Ace: - If you absolutely think you need to practice still, Throws Devon the spoon he saved from lunch …you can use THAT to get to the field on the other side of the building

Kenny: - (Please tell me you are joking about this Ace cause the team is worried about you here)
Ace: - (Do I sound like I'm joking?)

Alex: - Guys, we need to stop him before he damages his reputation
Jack: - Ace can't be acting like this during the game
Will: - I wonder what's gotten into him. He gets mad, but he never spoke like this. Remembers what happened during the homecoming dance Wait, is he doing it again?

Jason: - Ace has officially lost it. We need to take him home now!

Ace continues ranting as Jason and Kenny take him home
TK: - I see the great Ace has become nothing more than a rabid dog that needs to be leashed. Man I wish my bro was here to see this pulls out his phone and started to record what was going on
Scottsdale was watching as Ace was stuffed into the backseat of his car, as Kenny gets into the driver's seat, then leaves
All of Scottsdale's football team laughs at the absurdity of what just happened
TK: - Ah, the sound of laughter brings me joy, and you pain.
Alex: - (Why was Ace going crazy like that! I hope Kenny and Jason can find a way to get him under control, cause this may be a tough match without them.)
TK: - Oh Alice, if you think you can get that mess of a human being to calm down, then you're even more of an idiot than I thought.
Alex: - OH SHUT UP Runs in front of TK and slaps him
TK: - Sarcastically OW, that weally hurt!
Alex: - (Oh, you are so going down)

Alex: - (Wait what? How did he hear me?) Turns around to look towards TK, who's trading high-5s to his teammates (Could he…? No, we don't need this now)

Alex: - I don't know, but I got the feeling something isn't right about TK.
Jon: - Well with this team of his, nothing is ever right.
Alex: - Yeah, but this feels like it's linked to something we found out about last week.

Alex: - Nods with confirmation

Meanwhile, at the Rogers' house
Kenny pulls up, and 'struggles' with Jason in getting Ace inside
Ace: - WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?! WE NEED TO GET BACK TO SCHOOL! Continues ranting
Jason: - Lisa! Knocks on the door
Lisa: - Opens the door and sees Jason and Kenny with Ace flailing in their arms Get him downstairs. My brother's a doctor.
Jason and Kenny: - Ok They both struggle to get Ace in the basement
Kai: - Hears people coming down the stairs
Kenny: - To Jason In here
Kai: - Sees Ace flailing about Wow, and I thought I get crazy sometimes. Dad, your assistance is needed!
Splat: - I'm right he- Sees Kenny and Jason struggling with holding back Ace Give him here
Jason and Kenny give Ace to Splat
Splat: - Holds Ace with Psychic Could anyone please explain what happened?
Jason: - We're not entirely sure. We were preparing for a football game, and Ace just suddenly started acting like this.
Kenny: - This seems familiar
Jason: - You don't think this is linked to what Ace did at the homecoming dance, do you?
Splat: - He acted like this before?
Kenny: - He was being rude to Sally at the dance.
Splat: - I know that
Kenny: - But he didn't act like a freaking psychopath
Jason: - Let's just hope this isn't related, and it's something else.
Splat: - Yeah slowly turns to face Kai, Let's hope it's something else.
Kai: - This isn't my work.

Jason: - Sees the Nucleon Why is there a Nucleon here?

Splat: - Points behind him to Zoe and Clara, who are sitting on the couch. Anyone else you want to call a 'glitch'? We may be 'video game characters' in your world, but WE'RE not made of code.

Clara: - Kai is the only 'normal' eeveelution in our family. He may be a Shiny, but he's what a Shiny Jolteon normally looks like.
Kai: - On top of that, Clara and I are Mews
Splat: - facepaws Kids, you're NOT HELPING Eyes glowing red while staring at them
Jason: - They're your kids?!
Splat: - Are you really still going? I already have two other pokemon who constantly insult me.
Jason: - I'm sorry, I just haven't seen so many strange looking pokemon before, unless it's fan-art pieces online. Nucleon, I've seen in a fan-made rom hack; Autumn Leafeon, I've seen plenty of fan-art online; Cyborg Sylveon, completely new to me; Cantaloupe Umbreon Splat gets visibly ticked, also completely new to me; only the Shiny Jolteon I've seen in the official games.
A dark aura flares up around Splat.
Zoe: - Dad?
Jason: - Are you ok?
Kenny: - Jason…I think you went too far.
Splat: - Jason, was it?
Jason: - Is visibly scared Y-yes?
Splat: - I'm sorry, Goes full Rage Mode but WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!

Splat: - Glitch pokemon, I can understand, however, I AM NOT A MUKING FRUIT!
Mew of Mayhem: - (Wow, that's one crazy Umbreon)
Splat: - Sigh I'll take a look at Ace and try to find out what's wrong with him
Kenny: - How long will it take?
Splat: - It's hard to say
Jason: - Will he be ok before the start of the game?
Splat: - Can't say for sure. Likely not
Kenny: - We should let the team know.
Jason: - I'll call Alex
Back at school
Alex's phone rings
TK: - You better take that call. We still have 2 hours before our match. We'll just practice on your secondary field.
TK and his team walk over to the secondary field
Presh: - Are you gonna answer?
Alex: - Picks up his phone Hello?
Jason: - Alex?
Alex: - Oh, Jason. What's the story with Ace?
Jason: - We don't know what the cause is yet.
Alex: - Well, find out soon. Anyway, I need to let you know something. Is Splat there?
Jason: - Turns on speaker Yup. You're on speaker, so just say what you need to tell him.
Splat: - What is it, Alex?
Alex: - After Jason and Kenny left, I said some things to myself in my mind, and TK, somehow, perfectly replied to what I was thinking in my head. It was as if he could read my mind
Jason: - How?
Kenny: - The only way I could think of is if- Gasp
Alex: - Are you thinking what I'm thinking, Kenny?
Kenny: - Are you saying TK might be a pokemon?
Alex: - Exactly.
Splat: - There are more pokemon here?
Alex: - And since TK is Matt's brother, that raises the possibility that Matt is also a pokemon.
Splat: - So there may be 4 pokemon families here
Kenny: - 5
Splat: - Ace's mother is my sister
Kenny: - Devon and Nathan
Splat: - I thought they went back to the Pokemon World
Kenny: - Nathan probably did, but Devon is still at our school
Alex: - Devon is still here
Devon: - Huh? What did I do now?
Alex: - Nothing.
Devon: - Ok?
Alex: - Anyway, will Ace be able to play in the game?
Splat: - I'm not sure yet.
Kenny: - Alex, I think you'll have to take over for this one.
Alex: - Sigh I'll try my best.
The call ended
Kenny: - Let's hope they can win without us
Jason: - I'm sure they'll be fine
Back at school
Alex: - Puts his phone away Welp, we're on our own.
Jon: - We can do this. This is what we've been practicing for.
Presh: - We'll be fine without them. Let's win this.
Alex, and everyone else: - Right
Back at Ace's house
Nick comes home from school
Nick: - From upstairs Hello! Anyone home?!
Kenny: - Downstairs
Nick goes downstairs
Nick: - Kenny? What's going on? Aren't you supposed to be at scho-Whaaaaaat's up with him? Sees Ace held tight like he's in a straight jacket
Kenny: - That's what we're trying to figure out
Jason: - You're Ace's brother Nick, right?
Nick: - Yes?
Jason: - You're also a pokemon, right?
Nick: - Yes, I'm a Pikachu that can shoot black lightning. Why do you ask?
Jason: - More glitch pokemon, great.

Splat: - Jason's calling us that because we don't "follow the rules of the video games" here.
Nick: - Ok then
Ace continues to struggle in the psychic holding him in place

The same shadowy figure from yesterday appeared in front of Ace in his mind
Ace: - (It's you again)
?: - Appears to loosely resemble Ace's Boltund body (Yes, but we are not alone right now)
Ace: - (Huh?)
Another shadowy figure flies in
?(Shadow Ace): - (What do you want?)
?(flying figure[Mew of Mayhem]): - (Him points to Ace)
Ace: - (Me? What for?)
The flying figure's eyes glow red as it dives towards Ace, but the shadowy Ace blocks its path.
?(flying figure[Mew of Mayhem]): - (YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!)
Ace: - (I don't even know you!)
?(flying figure[Mew of Mayhem]): - (DON'T DENY IT!)
?(Shadow Ace): - (GET OUT OF HERE) Thunderpunches the flying figure out of Ace's mind, which causes it to leave Ace's body entirely (Ok, that thing should be gone now, but you'd better get back to your school, cause I'm sure it'll go after your friends.)
Ace: - (Ok, but how do you know about my friends, and my school? Who are you?)
?(Shadow Ace): - (Isn't it obvious?)
Ace: - (No)
?(Shadow Ace): - (I'm your rage.)
Ace: - (I'm still confused)
Shadow Ace: - (That power you call 'Rage Mode', normally it's just that, a power; like how pokemon evolve, your rage evolved, resulting in me.)
Ace: - (Ok)
Shadow Ace: - (Anyway, you do need to hurry. I don't know what that thing is planning to do, but I don't think you're gonna want to find out)
Ace: - (Right)
Back in the gaming room
Jason: - Looks like Ace has calmed down, at least.
Splat: - But he still might be under the control of what just left him.
Ace: - shakes his head a few times Ow my head.
Kenny: - Are you ok, Ace?
Ace: - Huh? What are we doing here?
Jason: - You were acting crazy, so Kenny and I took you home
Ace: - And why am I stuck like I'm in a straight jacket?
Splat: - You can thank me for that
Ace: - Huh?
Splat: - You were being controlled by something, so I had to restrain you.
Ace: - How do you know that? Also, can you let me down now?
Splat: - Drops Ace to the ground. Your friends and I saw something leave your body, but we're not sure what it was. We thought that was the reason you were acting crazy
Ace: - I see, so what that thing said was true?
Kenny: - What thing?
Ace: - Do you remember when I said I talked with something in my dream?
Kenny: - Ya? What about it?
Ace: - I talked to it again. It kinda looked like me, but it was still a bit fuzzy. That was what knocked that other thing out of my mind.
Kenny: - I see
Ace: - Anyway, how much time do we have before the game starts?
Jason: - Well…
Ace: - Jason?
Kenny: - The game is almost over
Ace: - WHAAAT!
Ace starts to run to school
Ace: - You guys couldn't have said that first?!
Kenny: - We weren't sure you were you when that thing left!
Ace: - Well, we need to hurry or we'll miss the game entirely
Jason: - Shouldn't we be going by car?
Ace: - No time, Jason
Meanwhile at North High
Scottsdale won by a field goal
TK: - WE WON GUYS. Nice work
Scottsdale players: - Celebrate
Alex: - We did our best.
North high players: - fall down on the field
Alex: - Come on now guys. What would Ace say when he sees this?
Will: - Alex… you gotta understand
Jack: - ….. These…. guys are better than…. Before
Alex: - Fair enough
Jon: - At least this was just a practice game
TK: - Walks over to Alex. In a mocking tone. Impressive show. You actually improved since the last time we fought. Too bad it still wasn't enough. Walks back to his team, laughing back at Alex
Alex: - (Screw you too, you pokemon prick)
TK: - Halts in his tracks, and turns his head to face Alex (Does he really think-? Nooooo, he couldn't be. How would he know whether one exists or not anyway?) Turns his head to face his team (If he is thinking that, that could be concerning. I should keep an eye on him.) Continues walking back to his team
Alex: - Whispers to himself Why did he stop for a second? And he looked kinda worried. Thinks for a moment. Wait…could this mean I was right about him? But even if I was right, what pokemon would he be? I can tell it would have to be a psychic type, or at least something that could read minds, cause he can sure read my mind.
Jon: - Approaches Alex We should get going.
Alex: - Right. We need to check on Ace.
TK: - Better hurry
Ben: - Better hurry to your mommies.
TK: - Shouldn't you be running to yours?
Ben: - We walk home.
TK: - Well, get on with it. Take your walk of shame. I have wasted too much of my time with you weaklings.
Ben: - (Oh, you have no idea.)
TK: - Pretty sure I know exactly what I'm talking about.
Ben: - Whispers to himself. No. You are joking. Turns to face Alex. Does Alex think that too?
Scottsdale high leaves via bus
Alex: - Let's go
Northend high leaves, all running towards Ace's house
Presh: - You think Kenny figured out Ace's problem?
Jon: - Hope so. He needs to get better so he can show TK not to mess with us.
Mark: - We need to learn how to work together without him. Yes, he's our captain, and star player, but even Ace has limits, and can't make it to every game.
Presh: - You're right. Sees Ace running towards them Wait, why is he running here?
Alex: - Huh?
Ace, Kenny, Jason, and the team meet up
Ace: - Hey everyone. Why are you here? Shouldn't you be at the field?
Alex: - The game is over. And spoiler alert, we lost.
Ace: - I see.
Alex: - However, we need to talk to you about something.
Ace: - Ok?
Alex: - Let's head to the park.
Everyone goes to their normal spot hidden within the park
Ace: - So what do you need to talk about?
Alex: - When you were being carried to your car, I was saying some things in my mind in regards to TK, and somehow, TK had perfect responses to what I was thinking.
Ben: - He did the same thing with me.
Alex: - He did?
Ben: - Yes.
Alex: - Then that can't be just a coincidence.
