Chapter 1

I have read many great fan fictions. I figured I would try to write my own as there aren't that many that are still being updated. This is going to be a Altoshipping FanFiction, with a lot of romance in it. As this is my first story, I may not have as much action in it. I do hope that you enjoy! I do not own Pokémon or any of the characters.

"Talking"

'Thoughts'

"Telepathy"

A young man is sitting in an open clearing within a forest near his home. He has messy black hair, fingerless gloves, and a red cap. Nearby, a Pikachu was watching and slightly worrying about the current mood his trainer and friend was in. He is 16, average height, and is a very experienced Pokémon trainer. His name is Ash Ketchum.

Sitting near his friend and trainer, a Pikachu observes as Ash thinks for a good hour. Having waited enough, he got up and approached Ash.

"Pika, Pika pi!" Pikachu asks with a hint of worry in his tone. Ash had been thinking a lot more and it was clear to Pikachu that something was troubling Ash. But Ash was known for his stubbornness and determination. He always refused to seek help unless he had no other choice, because he wanted to do things for himself.

"Yes, Pikachu. I know you want to help. But all these years I've done things without thinking through and acted rashly! I don't know if you'd even be able to help. I need to be able to solve this problem." Ash says with determination.

"Pika, pi!!!" Pikachu reminds his stubborn friend that they had been through so much together already. With a sigh, Ash turns to look at Pikachu. The young trainer resumes thinking for a little while longer before he stands up.

"I really do appreciate your offer Pikachu, but I've made a decision. But I would like to talk about it too." Ash smiles down at his best friend who nods and they begin walking back towards Ash's house. As they walk, Ash begins to explain what he'd been thinking about.

"All these years I've met so many amazing people. I've met a lot of friends and Pokémon. So many times I've been naive and reckless and I put my friends lives in danger. I know that they would stand by me no matter what, but if I had just thought about some of my choices before I did them, maybe I could have prevented some of the problems. But what really is bothering me, is that I've kept my promise to most of my friends and family. I've even kept my promises to you guys, Pikachu." Here, Ash pauses and Pikachu can see that his trainer was actually starting to cry. Pikachu climbs on Ash's shoulder and nuzzles him gently in comfort.

"Pika, pika pi. Pikachu!" The yellow mouse Pokémon tries to console his friend. "Pi pikachu!" Pikachu then nuzzles Ash again.

"Haha, that tickles Pikachu! But thank you for saying that. I just wish..I remembered..my promise to her." Here he starts tearing up and he clenches his fists tightly which causes Pikachu to start thinking who he was talking about. They had met so many girls that it was hard to tell who had gotten his dense trainer so worked up. The few that came to mind were Misty and May, but Ash hadn't spoken to them in at least a few years. Ever since his loss against Tobias, Ash had been determined to focus on training. He spent the next few years training intensely. He had visited various areas to train his Pokémon, working very hard until his Pokémon could beat a champion of any region. He had yet to battle against any of them however, as he had started to think more about something and had decided to wait a bit before he battled a champion.

"Pika, pi?" Pikachu asks.

The two finally arrive at Ash's house and Ash wipes his tears away with determination. The young teen has a new goal in mind, and his expression was one that even shocks Pikachu. Ash was being far more serious than Pikachu has ever seen him.

"Who is it? Well..I made her a promise that I would return to her. That I would visit and have fun. After everything that happened, I should have visited her sooner. But, I forgot." The trainer looks sad as they enter his house. They head to his room where he takes out a piece of paper, and shows it to his friend. As he looks at the drawing, he remembers and looks at his trainer.

"It's Latias." Ash says with a determined tone.

This is the first chapter. I am a bit nervous to be honest. I know it may not be as good, but please review.
