Hello folks, hopefully everyone is having a good spring. A/N at the end. Now let's pick up where I left off.

I don't own anything.

McGarrett had pulled up to one of the gates that allowed access to Pearl Harbor. He pulled out his phone and shot a quick text to Catherine letting her know where he was and he was waiting for her. A few minutes later the raven haired woman walked up to the gate and was greeted with McGarrett's shit eating grin.

"So I guess the cruise went alright?" He questioned as he gave her a big hug. She responded with her normal gentle smile and, "Well if it didn't go well I wouldn't have been bored enough to do the background you needed."

"True."

He opened the passenger door for her and gestured for her to get in. When they got on the road to stop at a bar for lunch they made some small talk talking about how Catherine's deployment was, and how McGarrett was happy to see her again. Then when they pulled up to the parking lot, she pulled a file out.

"One background intel on Detective Rizzoli right here." McGarrett after getting handed the folder, asked.

"Anything good?"

"Most information I could gather was from the same sources you had. Not much else, however I found something interesting about an incident during her academy days, and an event during her days as a beat cop.. Which were both scrubbed from her file."

"Really?" McGarrett flipped through and found the page Catherine was talking about.

"Well shit. That's good to know. Okay let's get some food."

Back at the office Jane was looking through McGarrett's service record. She was so focused on reading his achievements that she didn't notice Chin Ho walk up.

"Doing some summer reading?" He questioned, which had Jane look up surprised.

"Little bit. Hey, can I ask you something about McGarrett?"

"Depends on what it's about."

"What made him transfer from active duty to running this task force. It seemed like he was still doing well in the Navy." Chin thought for a moment the best way to explain how Steve's father was shot by order of Wo Fat and the former governor's corruption.

"Well his father was killed last year and let's say Steve isn't the type of guy to let that go unpunished." Jane nodded.

"I see. Anyway you track down that email account."

"Yeah, but it's a dead end. It's a dummy email. Last used in an internet café in L.A."

"Damn. Alright." Chin nodded and left Jane be. Just as Chin left Maura walked in. Jane noticed her coming with her clicking of her heels. She looked up.

"Hey Maur! What's up?" Maura took a seat next to Jane. "Nothing much. I was just checking in on you making sure you were doing okay." Jane smiled,

"Thanks Maura, but I'm fine."

"Well considering you woke up screaming last night I would have to disagree." Jane rolled her eyes. "I'll be fine. Let's focus on catching the bastard."

"Jane." Maura said in her stern tone. "I know that he got in your head. If you keep it bottled up you know it's only a matter of time before you take it out on someone." "I know, but I can keep it in check long enough for us to catch the bastard."

Danny had been sitting in his office when Maura barged in. "Detective, I need a moment of your time." Danny could only be sarcastic and reply,

"Oh yes it's not like I had other things to do." Maura, too far into her own mind, didn't notice his comment and started her rant,

"How am I supposed to be a good friend and help someone when they won't even talk to me about it?! I mean I usually always give her the space she needs, but I don't know how much more space I can give her."

Danny, processing the information Maura had just dumped on him, stopped and could only respond, "First, Slow the hell down. Secondly, What the fuck are you talking about." And before she could start again McGarrett and Catherine walked into the HQ arms linked. He called out to the team. Danny and Chin were happy to see Catherine again.

"She returns!" Danny said while giving her a hug.

"It's nice to see you again Cath." She nodded and replied,

"You too." McGarrett introduced Catherine to Jane and Maura and after they exchanged greetings McGarrett asked to see Jane with Catherine in his office. When the three walked in and the door closed McGarrett began,

"Jane you have been holding out on me." Jane confused what he meant,

"I'm sorry? What now?" Catherine then spoke up.

"I ran some deep background on you. There were two events that quite conveniently were scrubbed from your jacket." Jane turned white as a sheet as she knew where this was going.

"It turns out while you were a beat cop that there was an incident where you had gone missing for 12 hours. When you were found it was reported that you were a victim of a kidnapper who referred to himself as 'The Mortician' who had a similar M.O as our guy?"

"How in the hell did you find that?" Jane could only say angrily knowing her past would come back.

"The Navy has a vast amount of intelligence resources. Now explain what the hell happened then."

Well I'm back and alive. I know it's been a damn minute since my last post. Unfortunately that thing called a life had gotten in the way. I'm hoping to get on a regular schedule again. I know there was a request for longer chapters which is currently in the works for the next one. However I have to set this short chapter up for that one. It should be out within a few weeks.

Reviews are appreciated! See y'all next time!
