I've seen many universes, all of them with their quirks and stories. And all of them are connected like a web, specifically the web of life. I have woven every one of them, but there is a universe that I couldn't get, and it once Merged when the Cosmic brothers discovered each other.
One's name was Marvel, and the other was DC. They wanted a contest to see which universe was better, only for the heroes to merge briefly. Then, they unmerged to stop the brothers from fighting by showing each other their universe. After seeing the other's worlds, they learn to respect each other and ultimately go their separate ways. During the event, I tried to weave a web strand into this new world, but the web got destroyed when the war ended.
After many years of searching, I finally discovered a web strand containing a universe where the brothers knew each other from the beginning. So, I've connected the strand. They decided to merge two worlds in one, though instead of Merging two beings to become something new, they instead became something more. A few became friends, foes, and even became family.
I am Master Weaver, and I'll be your guide to this world. And to this world's Spider-Man.
May 15, 8:45 PM UPPER WEST SIDE MANHATTAN, IN A CHIPOTLE.
"COME ON!! PUT THE MONEY IN THE BAG!!" Four men in color ski masks and hoodies were robbing a Chipotle. The men came in through the back while one male teen employee took out the trash.
While the leader, wearing a red mask, forced the female manager to hand over the cash, his co-robbers kept everyone else in line.
One man with a green and blue mask held five employees and seven customers at gunpoint as they huddled to Red's right in one booth. And a yellow-masked man kept guard in the front.
"I-I am going as f-f-fast as I c-c-can! P-please, don't sh-shoot!" The manager, Deby, was terrified. Deby had never been robbed at gunpoint before and was in tears. "Well, hurry the hell up! I don't want that wall-crawler showing up!" Red growled out.
"Dude, how would he even know we are here?" Yellow asks. "Nobody outside is paying attention to what's happening here, so we won't be here when he does come anyway."
Green turned to Yellow. "You don't know what the bug is capable of. I've heard the guy had eyes on the back of his head." Blue shook his head and said.
"No, That's Batman. Trust me. I met the guy once." Blue shivers at the memory. "The Dude just showed up out of nowhere and took twenty of us alone. By the time he got to me, I was the only one left, and all he did was stare at me as I shook in place while pissing myself." Blue paused for a moment.
"He just stared at me like I wasn't going to do shit, and he was right. I didn't do anything as he looked through our stuff with the gun in my hand as if he had no fear. When he was done, he approached me, took the gun from my shaking hand, and cuffed me to a pipe. That was the last time I'll ever rob in Gotham."
"Damn," said Green, cringing. "Of all places in the world, Gotham is the city I'd never go to." Red was annoyed by the carefree conversations that his co-robbers were having, so he turned to yell at his team, only to see that Yellow was missing.
"What the, were's Jeff!?" Red shouts. The rest of the robbers turned to the door where Jeff was supposed to be. "Did he go outside?" Blue asks. "I didn't hear the door ope-wait! What was that!?"
They can hear muffling behind a rectangle piler. Blue nudges Green "Rickey, go check it out." Rickey turns to Blue. "Wait, hold on, why me!? Why not you?" Blue looked at Rickey with a raised eyebrow. "Because I don't want my ass kicked in by whatever got Jeff."
Red turns to Deby and uses the gun to gesture to go to the Hostages. She reluctantly obeyed. "Kenny, Rickey, you two go check it out, and I'll watch the hostages."
In disbelief, Kenny and Rickey turned to Red. "Wait, why both of us?!" Both of them asked. Red shrugs his shoulders and says. "Two guns are better than one." He then leans forward and whispers. "It would also make it easier to corner whoever got Jeff."
His companions nod at his point. "Ok, Tommy, we'll go check it out, but make sure that one sneaks up on us," Kenny whispers to Tommy.
Tommy rolls his eyes. "How many times do I have to tell you knuckleheads not to call me that?!" He hissed
Kenny raised his hand in surrender. "Sorry, sorry, Tom! Can you please watch our backs while we risk our necks?" Tom rolls his eyes. "Fine, just get to it!"
Kenny and Rickey faced each other and nodded. Swallowing the lump in their throats, they cautiously walked to where the muffling was. Rickey went to the left, while Kenny went to the right, guns pointed at the piler as the muffling intensified.
Tom, however, was not keeping an eye on the hostages as he had said he would. Instead, Tom walks slowly backward so his co-robbers do not catch him trying to sneak off. Tom was not stupid, he knew Fully well who got Jeff, and he would not let himself get his ass kicked in by him.
Tom turns to the Hostage, raising his finger to his lips, silently telling them to keep quiet with a stern look. The Hostages were too scared even to make a peep. As for Kenny and Rickey, they were three feet away from the piler.
They turn to each other, silently hyping themselves, and quickly round the corner, pointing their guns at the strange sound, only to see Jeff on the piler tied down by a strange white string.
"Jeff!!" Rickey shouts. He tries to pull off the mysterious substance as Kenny looks around to see who did this to Jeff. Jeff shakes his head and tries to shout a warning.
Kenny turned to where Tom was and noticed that Tom was trying to walk backward slowly. He stopped when Kenny spotted him, and Kenny looked at him suspiciously, knowing what he was trying to do. "And where the hell are you going!?" he asked as he returned to Tom. Tom silently cursed at being caught.
"Oh, um, I just thought that I-" Kenny pushed Tom. "Don't bullshit me! You were trying to sneak away while we checked it out!" Kenny yelled, pointing an accusatory finger at Tom.
Getting mad, Tom grabbed Kenny's shirt and glowered. "Listen, you little..." 'THWIP!' Tom stopped when he heard that sound. Even the Hostage gasped in surprise. They turned and saw that Rickey was upside down in the exact white string that Jeff was in.
With wide eyes, Tom shouts. "Oh, Shit! He's got, Rickey!" He runs to the back as the Hostages pull into each other, thinking that one of them will turn into a shield, but Tom passes by them.
"Every man for himself!" Kenny is shocked when he sees what happened to Rickey and tries to run for it. Suddenly, with a 'THWIP!', the same white string pulls him back.
"AHH!" Tom can hear Kenny screaming and is not interested in being next. Nearly slipping, he ran right to the back door, only to bounce back when he pushed the door. He tries again, but it won't open. "The hell is wrong with this thing!?" He pushes harder and sees that the white string is on the door.
"So." Tom turns quickly, aiming his gun at the voice when his gun is taken away with a 'THWIP' and is in the hands of a man dressed in red and blue with black webbing, with a fist-sized black spider on the chest, and a giant white spider on the back. This man was Spider-Man, NEW YORK'S favorite hated son.
"Tommy, was it? What made you think robbing a Chipotle of all places would be a good idea? Not that robbing anywhere is a good idea in the first place, mind you, but seriously, why a Chipotle? Their food is awesome, but come on, man!" Spider-Man said as he crushed the gun like tin foil.
Tom was shocked and quickly became angry when his gun was crushed. "Do you have any idea how expensive that gun is, only for you to crash it like a soda can!? " he shouted at Spider-Man. Spider-Man shrugged. "Honestly, no, but I know this."
With his index finger, Spider-Man left his arm and flicked Tom's chest, causing him to crash into the door, to the goon's surprise. Before he fell to his knees, Spider-Man webbed Tom to the door. "I don't care," Spider-Man said, stretching as Tom coughed and struggled in the webs, cursing under his breath.
"Welp, now that's done, I will check on the hostages. Don't go anywhere." Spidey says with a chuckle as Tom demands to be let loose. Spidey webs Tom's mouth to keep him quiet.
Spider-Man walks up to the freed hostages to see if they are unharmed. "Hey there," Spidey waves at them. How are you all doing? Is anybody hurt?" he asks in concern. Deby turns to him with a smile, relieved it is all over. She thought that someone was going to get hurt if they didn't get what they wanted, but lucky for them, Spider-Man arrived.
"We are okay, shaken, but no one got hurt." She puts her hand to her heart, trying to calm herself down. Deby faced Spider-Man with a smile. "Thank you for coming to our rescue," Daby said sincerely.
"How did you know that we were getting robbed?" an employee with a nametag that says Steve asked the wall-crawler. Spider-Man rubbed the back of his head. "Well, I came here to get a Burrito, but I saw these four bust through some poor teen while trying to take out the trash."
The young man rubs his arm. "Yeah, that poor teen was me." Spidey winces. Oh, are you okay? It looked like you were being thrown around like a rag doll." A female coworker named Emily snorts a laugh. Steve shoots her a glare and answers, "I'm good, thanks, though."
Deby clears her throat after regaining her composure. "Well, now that the ordeal is over," She turns to Emily. "Emily, can you please call the police?"
Emily nods, with a smile still on her face. "Yes, ma'am, I'll go do that." She goes to the back where the office is to call the police.
Deby turns to Spider-Man with a smile. "While she's doing that, how about I take your order?" Spider-Man was slightly surprised at that. "Oh, are you sure? You just went through an ordeal, and I don't want to trouble you."
Deby waves her hand from side to side. "It's no problem. Tell you what, I'll give you two burritos for free. Think of it as a thank you for saving our lives."
The gesture touched Spidey. "Well, I'm always glad to help." He said with a smile under his mask.
35 minutes later.
Crouched on the hotel beacon, he was eating the burrito while down at the restaurant he saved. The N.Y.P.D. spoke to Deby as they tried to cut the webs that held the four men. He wanted to ensure everything went smoothly, but he didn't want the N.Y.P.D. to try to arrest him, too, so he went on a roof to be out of sight.
As he chewed, he suddenly realized it was darker than the last time he had checked. "Please tell me it's not 10 PM." He said with a bit of worry.
Spidey had a mini-heart attack when he saw the time. It was 9:20 PM. "Oh no, I'm in so much trouble." He smacked his forehead.
"I'm in for the scolding for the lifetime. I can see it now." He pulls up his contacts to call his aunt." I'm so going to be grounded for a month."
'OK, Pete, just tell her you lost track of time and are on the way home.' After the fourth ring, she answers the phone. "Hello, Peter?" Peter replies, "Hey, Aunt May, I'm coming home late. I lost track of time, and traffic is brutal."
"Oh, I understand, Peter, as long as you're safe. Thanks for calling me, hun. Please be safe on your way home, ok? There's been a lot of villain activity lately, especially when that Spider-Man character is involved." Peter winced at that.
It stings a little that Aunt May doesn't like Spider-Man, but if Peter were in her shoes with his nephew taking pictures of a masked vigilante, he would be worried, too. "Don't worry. Aunt May. I'm always careful." He tried to reassure her, but May made an unconvincing hum.
Peter made an offended squawk. "I am!!" Peter said with a slight disbelieving chuckle. "I'm sure," she said with a laugh. "Anyway, I'm going to be late coming home too. It's been swamped here at Feast, So I'll see you tomorrow morning." Peter had a small smile. "OK, don't work too hard. I love you."
"Aw, I love you too, Pete." After hanging up, Peter finished eating his food as quickly as possible. After finishing his food, he leaps off a balcony, shoots a web line, and starts Swinging home.
A minute later, a woman in Amazonian armor hovered over Chipotle. A female police officer looked up and saw her floating down. She gasped loud enough to grab everyone's attention, and they were surprised to see her. She landed on her feet and walked up to an Officer talking to Deby.
One male Officer walks up to her and nods with respect. "Miss Wonder Woman, what can I do for you?" Wonder Woman's eyes lock on the sight of the men still stuck in the webs in the Chipotle restaurant. She turns to the Officer.
"I would like to know where Spider-Man is. I need to speak with him." The policeman was tense at what she said. The other officers were surprised that Wonder Woman was looking for the web-slinger. Deby stepped up to Wonder Woman.
"Um, Wonder Woman?" The Amazonian turned to the woman to see what she needed. "I'm sorry, but you've just missed him. He left 15 minutes ago. I'm afraid I don't know where he went." She said with a sheepish grin.
Wonder Woman sighs out of slight frustration. She then smiled at Deby. "Thank you for telling me, miss." She says her goodbyes and flies off.
Her communicator went off. "Diana, what's your status?" Diana continued to fly into the city while she answered her teammate, Batman.
"Spider-Man just stopped a robbery at a Chipotle 16 minutes ago. No one knows where he went." Diana lands on a nearby building. "Perhaps he went home? If he's young, he may have a curfew to honor."
"It's possible." Batman surmised, "Still, keep looking. Spider-Man is sure to show up whenever there's trouble." Diana leans over the balcony to watch out for the web swinger.
"I understand. I'll keep an eye out for him, Wonder Woman out." Diana sighs, 'This is absurd, all this fuss for one boy, and there is no sign of him.' As she takes flight, Diana thinks back to the meeting that led to this.
Flashback To three hours ago
In the watchtower
In the watchtower's meeting room, 15 individuals met: on the left was the Justice League: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and Hawkgirl.
On the right are the Avengers: IronMan, Captain America, Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Bruce Banner, and Thor. Superman stands up from his chair to call the meeting to start.
"Before we start the meeting," he faces The Avengers. "I'd like to thank you all for coming on short notice, and we appreciate that you were able to find the time to discuss the current issue."
Black Panther nods. "Not a problem at all, Kal-el." The Wakanda King said. Captain America also comments. "We are more than happy to help any way we can." Tony rolls his eyes a little to Batman's annoyance.
And Thor, with a massive grin, responds with a booming voice. "TIS OUR PLEASURE, SUPER OF MEN!" Everyone reled at the volume, and Hawkeye was next to the Asgardian. With wide eyes, he shielded his ears and leaned away from the loud volume Thor was making. "Gwah, Thor!! Are you trying to make me deaf?!" With his thumb, he rubs his ear to get the ringing out. "My hearing is bad enough as is."
Thor looked at Hawkeye with a sheepish grin. "Apologies, friend Hawkeye," he said to Clint. Clint waved his hands. It's okay; mind the volume next time." Thor nods, acknowledging the request.
Banner looked at the empty chair to the left of Martian Manhunter. "Who's seat is that?" he points to the chair.
Batman looks where Banner is pointing and sees Dinah's chair, so he answers, "That is Black Canary's seat. She'll be here momentarily." at that moment, the person in question bursts through the door. "Hey, sorry for being late. I was held up at work, and traffic was awful." Dinah says as she takes a seat. Tony makes a flirtatious smile with an eyebrow raised, slightly leaning in his chair.
"No worries, Dinah, I always make a point of being fashionably late." Dinah rolls her eyes at the flirting attempt. "That's why I'd had to pull you by the ear so you could make it on time." Batman Retorts with a hidden smile.
Tony turns to Batman with a glare. "That hurts, by the way!" he said with mock anger.
"If you are done with your banter," Captain America says with a slight smirk. We can start the meeting."
Batman raises his closed fist to his mouth and clears his throat. "Right, I called all of you here to this meeting to discuss the NEW YORK's vigilante, Spider-Man."
Batman pushed a button on a remote, a hologram of blurry images and shaky videos of Spider-Man fighting criminals and villains. Next was the News talking about him, most of which were less than flattering.
John Stewart raises an eyebrow as he looks at a Photo of Spider-Man fighting an older, bald man with large green wings called The Vulture. "So this is the new guy, huh? He's not what I expected, " John comments.
Flash tilted his head with his hand on his chin. "I've heard that the guy looked similar to Black Spider, but I must say that this Spider-Man looks cooler than him by a mile," Flash said as he looked at a video of Spider-Man webbing a man with leopard-print pants in the face, then flipped over him and kicked him in the back.
Hawkgirl looks at a daily bulge's front page of their newspaper of the arachnid hero fighting a 6 to 7 feet tall rhino man, with the title saying 'SPIDER-MAN AND THE RHINO WRECKS TIMES SQUARE!' Hawkgirl frowns. "How the hell did this miss our attention for so long? Something like this should gotten some of us to act." She said as she pointed at one Daily Bulge page, a giant sandman at least 60 feet tall throwing a punch at Spider-man as he dodged the truck-sized fist.
Black Panther answers Hawkgirl's question while looking at some hologram newspapers. "Well, some events happened simultaneously when we were on missions, and others ended before we caught wind of it."
Tony stares at a tabloid of Spider-Man jumping into a burning building to save 38 people in 15 minutes. "Not that he needed much help in the first place. He's strong and fast enough to save or fight anyone he needs to."
He winced at a Daily Bugle website where Spider-Man was harshly criticized for accidentally crashing into a truck when Tony bumped into him while trying to chase down a Hydra agent after stealing one of his arc reacters. "He does need PR assistance, though, " he commented.
Diana glared at the article, not pleased with the paper's depictions of the web-slinger. She met Spider-Man once. A few months ago, Dr. Doom somehow forced Hulk to rampage in Metropolis to release the parasite from a technologically special underground cell. And Doom had planted evidence to lure her into a trap.
Wonder Woman, tricked by Doom into thinking that Spider-Man was working for Doom, tries to apprehend him. But after figuring out they were on the same side, they join forces, only for Diana to get captured.
It peeves her that she has been bested so quickly, but Doom is crafty and has been known to use magic. She had little defense against that, but Superman and Spider-Man was able to stop the Latverian before he did much damage.
She hadn't seen him since then, but she felt like she knew him from somewhere, from where, and when she couldn't put her finger on it. Putting that aside, she focused on why they were there. "So why are we talking about him?" She turns to Batman.
"He's been around for almost two years now. What did he do that made us bring two different hero teams to have a meeting about him?" Batman turned to Diana. "So far, nothing. Spider-Man didn't do anything that would warrant The Avengers and The League to go after him."
Diana was slightly surprised by that. If Spider-Man didn't do anything, why are we talking about him? This seems odd. "However," Batman continued with a slight edge to his voice. "There is a reason why I summoned all of you here. I heard from reliable sources that Spider-Man's age is younger than everyone believed."
Superman stands to add more. "I've been questioning the police, the Daily Bugle, and the criminals about Spider-Man in my reporter identity. From being saved or caught by him, everyone who met him said he sounded young. Somewhere around his mid-to-late teens, and from the last time I met him, I can agree that he sounds like a teenager."
Clint was slack-jawed. "That young?!" Clint is a father of three, and his oldest is 14. Just the thought of his kid running around fighting criminals, he'd have a heart attack.
Worse, he didn't even notice that Spider-Man was a teen. If he had known, he'd done everything he could to convince him to stop,
Thor, bless him, felt different. "By Odin's beard, for someone so young to be so mighty! He'd be a fine warrior if he were an Asgardian!" Clint glared at Thor. "He's a kid, Thor! Way too young to be fighting crime!"
"Calm down, Barton, that's why we are here." Green Lantern said, trying to de-escalate the situation.
Flash, however, didn't have the tact to keep his mouth shut. "So, let me get this straight. You've been working with him for years and never knew he was younger than he lets on?" Clint scowled at the speedster. "I thought that he was in his early 20s!!"
Black Panther turned to Clint. "Aren't you a spy? And the rest of us knew that Spider-Man was a kid." Clint turned to his team with a shocked expression. "Why do you think we tried to get him to stop crime fighting?" Natasha Romanov said with a deadpan tune.
"Because he's annoying, and he fights like a noob." Clint retorts. Hawkgirl raises a brow. "So is Flash, but we keep him around." "Yeah," Flash said with a smile for a second, then what Hawkgirl said sunk in. "Hey!" He shouted, insulted.
"We are trying to figure out how to find him," Batman said, trying to lead it back to the point of the meeting with Flash grumbling under his breath. "I know you worked with him, and I was hoping one of you knew who he was under the mask."
Tony looked at Batman like he had grown a second head. "I thought you would have found out by now. I've tried to find Spidey with my drones, but he makes it difficult to narrow him down, not to mention how fast he is; he'd be swinging on one side of the city, then suddenly disappear." Tony said with frustration.
Batman makes a groan of agreement. "Yes, so I've noticed. I had my satellite scan on swinging patterns, where he likes to swing, and the preferred crime he'd stop. But it seems he doesn't have a preference for which crime he stops. He even helps old ladies cross the street and pull cats out of the trees. If someone needs help, he's there to help."
Tony faces Superman. "Have you taken a peek behind the mask by chance?" He asks, pointing his finger. Superman wrinkles his nose and answers. "That didn't cross my mind at the time." Tony slumps his shoulder in disappointment.
Dinah looks at the screen with the image of Spider-man as she asks. "But why is a teenager even doing this? What made him put on his mask and put his life in danger on a daily basis?" She looks at an image of the Daily Bugle headline that says 'Spider-Man, Villain or Menace?' "Especially when people don't like him?" Dinah continues, gestering the headline.
Bruce can emphasize. Being the Hulk made him the most feared man in the world, and the military has chased him down to recreate his powers. Luckily, he has The Avenger to help him keep the Hulk under control by aiming him at someone who is more of a threat, making the Hulk a hero. However, Spider-Man is not a rage monster and is treated just the same, if not worse.
The News slanders him daily, the police hate him enough to shoot on sight, and the people of the city have a love-hate relationship with him. How can someone so selfless be so hated? Even when he helps old ladies cross the street.
"Maybe he experienced something that made him this way?" J'onn J'onzz surmises; Dinah pursed her lips, nodding slightly. Hawkgirl huffs. "That's all fine and dandy, but what will we do about him? We can't just let a minor run around fighting crime on his own", Hawkgirl interjects.
"Do we have to do anything? He's been Spider-Man for a year and a half without us interfering, and he seems to be capable. And we are not his parents. Why are we trying to stop him when the Avengers couldn't?" Diana says with a frown.
"Simple," Superman said, turning to Diana. "We're not going to stop him." Everyone but Batman looked at Superman with shock. "What?! But why? I'd thought you, out of all of us, would want him to hang up the mask." Flash asked with disbelief.
Superman sighed, knowing that was going to be their reaction. He has been known not to like that Batman had very young sidekicks, so for him not to suggest stopping the young hero is surprising. So He explains why.
"Because Flash, Spider-Man is not the only teenage hero. If we stop him, we'd need to stop the rest of them, and they'll likely won't go quietly."
The Leaguers and the Avengers had to agree. There are more of them coming, and they can't stop all of them. They can, but that would be time-consuming and make things worse by chasing them all.
Superman continues. "Besides, along with Daredevil, he is the only street-level hero in New York." Thor has a confused look. "What tis a street-level hero?" Natasha answers the confused Asgardian. "It is a hero who focuses on street crime. Like bank robbers, kidnapping, murder, purse snatchers, and villains."
Thor smiled widely and said. "Ahh, such noble Warriors indeed,"
'This is supposed to be a thunder god?' Shayera thought with a raised eyebrow, then had another thought. "Wait, why is Spider-Man the only hero doing street crime when the Avengers base is in New York?"
With an eye roll, Tony answers. "Because I have a company to run, T'challa has a kingdom to rule, and Nat works for Shield. Clint has a family to care for, and Steve is teaching boxing while cartooning on the side."
Shayera blinked at that last part. "And Thor has duties on Asgard. Plus, we're not street-level heroes. We go after bigger-than-average threats just like you do." He said flippantly.
Batman, getting annoyed by Tony's attitude, recenters the topic. "The point is that New York needs Spider-man despite not wanting him. If he suddenly stopped crime-fighting, the crime rate would rise to 75 percent. And no, I'm not exaggerating; I've done the statistics. We know he is young, but New York needs Spider-man right now, so we're trying to reach him so he can have proper training."
Steve nods. "I agree. The young man desperately needs it. He can't go out fighting crime when he doesn't know how to throw a punch." Steve always cringes whenever he sees the youngster fight. "He'd be hurt or dead if he didn't have super strength." He continues.
Berry stood up. "Wait, does that mean that Spider-Man is joining us? Because that would be awesome!" He said excitedly, "Hold on a minute. We have to find him first, " Clark said with a chuckle.
Diana suddenly had a thought. "Batman, does Daredevil know Spider-Man? If they're both vigilantes, they've had to cross each other's path. Or at least work together." Batman looks at Diana. "They have worked together a few times but don't know each other's identities." Green Lantern Raised an eyebrow. "Why not? If they had worked together before, why not know each other's identities?"
"Because neither of them wants their secret identities to be known. What if someone with mind-reading abilities comes along and finds out who they are? Their loved one can be in danger because of one slip up-Shut it, Tony."
Tony looks at Batman, perplexed. "I didn't say anything!" Batman's eyes narrow. "No, but I have known you long enough to know what you would say, and I'm losing patience with you. Now zip it." Said Batman with clenched teeth. Tony crosses his arms, grumbling while Steve quietly chuckles.
After a two-hour meeting, they went to the boom tube and entered the coordinates for New York. "Spider-Man has been seen stopping a bank robbery at a Wells Fargo on 1300 3rd Ave three minutes ago," Superman said as he entered the coordinates. We need to spread out and locate him and convince him to come with us."
Flash snorted a laugh. "You, uh, want to rephrase that, supes?" "Nope, " Superman retorted. He turned to the 15 heroes.
"New York is a big city, and Spider-Man is a fast individual. Finding him may take a while, so I hope you're ready." With that, the heroes were about to step into the boom tube when suddenly. "Alert! Alert! Toyman is holding the Mayor of Metropolis Hostage for 800 million dollars!"
Superman looks back at his team with an apologetic smile. "Sorry, guys. I'm going to have to go stop Toyman." Tony, in his armor, gives Superman a wave of dismissal. "Ah, it's fine. You go save the Mayor, and we'll look for the kid." Superman nods. "I'll come to help when I save the Mayor and make Toyman put his toys away."
"Oh, and give Toyman a good ass kicking. I'm still pissed at that perv after the stunt he pulled on us last time." Shayera said with slight anger. Superman nodded with understanding. With that, they were on their way to New York.
Flashback end
Diana has been looking for the web-slinger since then, but she's gotten nowhere. It's 9:30 PM, and Spider-Man sites have stopped. It was getting late, and he could be at home due to a curfew, but it was Friday, so he could still be out.
Diana gazed down at the city where she had lived many years ago and felt a sense of familiarity wash over her. However, there was something more to this sudden nostalgia, something vital that she had forgotten. She decided to shake off the feeling and flew closer to the city.
Diana is hovering over Times Square and checking if Spider-man is there. There were 15 Spider-men, and all of them were most likely cosplayers.
It was like the arachnid hero was taunting her, so you can imagine a vein that pops on her forehead. "I need a break," she huffed. Diana sat on a billboard to calm down. "This is ridiculous. What is it going to take to find him?"
Midtown East
In E 57th St, an unmarked black van and semi-truck pulled into an alley to hide from prying eyes. "Ugh, finally, get me out of this damned van." The door opens, and the villain cheetah comes out of the truck with a pissed-off look, "This has better be worth it." She said as she stretched out any stiffness in her back.
The following person that comes out of the truck is an 8-foot green-scaled man with jagged teeth. This man is Killer Croc. "If 500,000,000 dollars is not worth it, you have higher standards than me." He chuckled. Cheetah turned to Croc with a sneer, about to retort, until a glove-covered hand grabbed her shoulder.
"Enough with the banter. We have a bug to squash," Said the Beetle as he exited the van. Three more villains exit the vehicles. One was an albino gorilla with intelligent eyes. This ape was Ultra-Humanite, an arch-nemesis of Superman.
Next to come out of the truck was a man in a lab coat with metallic tentacles, a bob haircut, and goggles. This man was Otto Octavius, also known as Doctor Octopus.
Then, a 7-foot-tall man shark exits the truck. His name is King Shark. "Fine then, how do we find him?" asked Cheetah with her arms crossed. "Simple, my dear, we don't look for him. We have him find us." Doc Ock said as he turned to King Shark. "King Shark, if you be so kind, go and cause a scene." He said with a sinister smile. King Shark had the same smile.
In LOWER MANHATTAN Bowery
Green Lantern and Hawkgirl are flying over 2nd Avenue, looking for any signs of Spider-Man, but so far, they found no sign of him. "If you told me that looking for a web-swinging teenager would be this difficult yesterday, I'd laugh. How is he so hard to find? He's wearing a red and blue suit and swings on webs!" Hawkgirl said with frustration in her voice.
Green Lantern can only sigh in agreement. "Flash, any luck on your end?" Green Lantern asks on his com link. Flash was standing on the side of a hotdog cart with ten hotdogs in one arm and eating with the other.
"Nope, sorry, I haven't seen him yet, " he said with a mouth full. Green Lantern had to suppress a shudder. "Can you not talk with your mouth full? And you are supposed to look for him!" He admonished the speedster. Flash swallowed. "I am! I just needed to refuel. I have a high metabolism, you know."
Hawkgirl rolled her eyes. "Hurry up. He might be heading home or resting nearby." Flash nods. "Right, I'll keep looking then." After finishing his hotdogs, he zooms off to continue his search.
Yorkville
Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Martian Manhunter are walking in 2nd AVE, hoping that some dumbass would try to steal someone's car or with a stolen car speed down the street, so Spider-man comes where they are.
"You know, in a way, it's funny. When we are on one side of the city, he is on the other side, and as soon as we get notified where he is, We rush our way there, and he's still on the other side," Hawkeye said with a hysterical laugh.
Martian Manhunter, in his human form, turns to Hawkeye with a concerned look on his face while Black Widow groans, slightly annoyed. Still laughing, Hawkeye continues, "Seriously, how can we even catch up to him when a speedster has trouble finding him? Especially when the cosplayers are dressing up like him!" Even Black Widow chuckled at that.
"Heyya guys, any sign of him yet?" Tony said through their com link. "Nope!" Hawkeye said, smiling while Natasha looked at him with her nose scrunched in amusement. "Anything on your end?" He asks the futurist.
Tony signed, "No, nothing. I'm starting to regret not asking him for his number when I had the chance, " he said as he scanned the area. Black Widow smirked at what Tony said. "You want to rephrase that stark?" she asked him. "Nope, " Tony retorted. Hawkeye busted out a laugh.
Lenox Hill
Driving through 1st Ave, a man and a woman in a news van from Daily Planet were on a mission to find a famous vigilante. Unfortunately, they had no luck finding him.
"Come on, Lois. We've been at this for hours. Can we please go back to the hotel and rest? We can pick this up tomorrow." Said a young man with a bowtie and red hair.
Lois, however, wanted to go on longer. "No, we can't go back yet, Jimmy. Where is your sense of journalism? Where is your drive to the unknown?" Lois said with determination. Jimmy yawned. "Waiting for me in bed, " he said with a sigh.
They had been driving around New York since 11 in the morning, looking for a story, and that story was Spider-man. Perry White, their boss, wanted to get to the bottom of the mystery of the wall-crawler. He didn't trust what Jonah had to say about Spider-man, even though he looked like Black Spider, the mercenary ninja.
So Perry sent Lois to get the scoop on the webhead and to interview Spider-Man himself to get to know the real Spider-Man. Unfortunately, the arachnid hero is hard to find. Lois had asked her husband if he knew the wall-crawler. Clark said he had only met him twice and didn't get to know him that well. However, he said that he and Batman were looking into Spider-Man.
He hadn't said anything more. Not that Lois would let him give all the information; she wanted to find Spider-man to get answers herself.
Although, she had to admit that sleep sounded nice. She sighs. "I hate to admit it, but it may-OH MY GOD!!!"
Jimmy stops the car and sees what Lois saw. Near a tunnel of Ed Koch Queenoro Bridge, it was King Shark, and he was attacking a couple in a car.
"Jimmy, get the camera!" Jimmy nods and quickly grabs his camera. "Okay, but what are we going to do about that!?" Lois pulls out her phone. "I'm calling the N.Y.P.D. Hopefully, they will get here on time."
Spider-man was approaching Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. "Keep moving, Pete. I don't want to give Aunt May a reason to lower my curfew to 5 PM. With the speed I'm going, I'd be home around 10:45 PM as long no one was stupid enough to commit a crime right now." That's when he heard a scream. He facepalmed. "Me and my big mouth." He sighed. "Please let this be quick. Please let this be quick." He begged under his breath.
Spider-Man turns to the scream on E 60th St and finds something that will give anyone not used to this pause. King Shark was trying to get the tasty humans out of a car and using his teeth like a can opener. "Oh no, you don't!" Spidey shot a web ball at the King Shark's eyes, blinding him.
Then he swung in, kicked King Shark in the face, and knocked him off the car, and King Shark flew Twenty feet away. "Sorry, big boy, but humans are not on the menu! Please take your strange taste buds somewhere else!" Spider-man shouted at the land shark, trying to get the web off his face.
Lois and Jimmy were surprised and relieved. Spider-Man showed up and saved the couple. Now, they can show the world the real Spider-Man. As Lois was about to go live, Spider-Man turned to the would-be snacks to see if they needed help. "Are you okay? Do you need help?" he asked the scared couple, holding each other.
The girlfriend cried as her boyfriend looked at Spider-Man with wide eyes." Sp, Spider-Man, there was another one!!" He worned him. 'Spider-sense,' Spidey heard growling from his left, but instead of the king shark, it was Cheetah, and she was a little too close for comfort.
Cheetah swings her arm to slash Spidey, but he dodges to the left and spin-kicks her on her side. "Whoa! Claws to yourself, lady! I don't have the funds to fix this suit! Huh," 'Spider-sense!' Spidey flips to the right to dodge the gunfire from the Beetle.
"You should be more worried about us killing you." Beetle tells him. 'spider sense' Spider-Man ducks a punch from Humanite and sends a punch to the right side of his face. "Gah! You brute!" Humanite throws a left hook that Spidey stops with one hand, shocking Humanite.
"N- no one told me that you're this strong!" He said with surprise. 'I may have miscalculated Spider-Man's strength.' He thought to himself. "Quick, Humanite! Grab him! Don't let him escape!" yelled the Beetle.
When Humanite was going to grab him, Spider-man webbed him in the face, flipped over him, and yanked him to the ground. 'Boom!' Ultra-Humanite was down but not out. He rolled back up with a grunt as King Shark and Cheetah went for the attack. 'Yup, I'm going to be late.' Spider-Man thought with dread.
Back in Time Square.
Diana, with a sour look on her face, was on the ground, walking through the crowd, hoping to blend in since there were a few Wonder Woman cosplayers of her still trying to find Spider-Man.
Until an excitable little girl stopped her, she looked around five years old. She wore a tiara like Diana on her brown hair and rainbow glasses. She was also wearing a T-shirt with a golden W on her chest and a red skirt with black wedding patterning. She smiled at Diana and gave her a wave. "Hi, I'm Millie, " said the little girl.
Her mother shyly walked behind her and said, "I'm sorry. She is a fan of Wonder Woman. As soon as she saw you, she couldn't help herself." The mother cringed, seeing a model in similar attire to Diana, crossed her arms, and glared at Diana for stealing her spotlight.
Diana couldn't help but smile back at the girl; her mood significantly improved seeing the smiling Millie. She kneeled at Millie's height. "Hello, little sister. I like your glasses." Diana said as she poked the little girl's nose, and Millie giggled.
"Thank you, Miss Wonder Woman," Millie said, then pulled out a black pen. Can I have your autograph, please?" she asked shyly. Diana's grow a little bigger. "Of course. Do you have a paper?" she asked Millie, expecting to sigh on a notebook.
Millie shook her head and pointed to her left shoulder. "Can you sigh it right here, please?" she asked politely. Diana did as she asked, to Millie's glee. After sighing, "To a fellow sister, Wonder Woman." Millie hopped with glee and turned to her mom to show it to her with pride.
"Look, mama, I got Wonder Woman's Autograph!" She said, pointing at the sighed shoulder. Seeing her daughter's joyful expression, she smiled widely. "That's great, sweety. What do you say to Wonder Woman?" The mother reminds Millie.
Millie to Diana and hugs her. "Thank you, Wonder Woman!" She said, hugging her tightly. Diana hugged her back with a small laugh. "You're welcome, dear." They separate, and the mother walks behind Millie as Diana stands back up.
"Thank you for that; I appreciate you taking the time to entertain her with this. My name is Maddie." Maddie said, shaking Diana's hand. "It's my pleasure, Maddie," Diana said with a nod.
"I'd have to admit that you do look like her," she gestures to her attire. "Almost fooled me for a minute. Where did you get it?" Asked Maddie.
Diana posed with her hands on her hips. "I won it in a competition!" She said with pride. Millie looked at Diana with awe while Maddie raised an eyebrow, with hidden skepticism, but kept smiling. "That's... cool," she shrugs, "It's better than the free sushi for a week I won once," Maddie said with a laugh as Diana laughed with her.
"I hope you don't mind me prying, but you looked upset. Is there something wrong?" Maddie asked with concern, with her daughter looking back and forth from her mother to Diana.
Diana was slightly surprised that she was called out for her mood but couldn't blame her for asking. "Oh, I was looking for someone, but he is making it difficult for my friends and me. By chance, you have seen him?" Diana asked.
Maddie tilts her head. "Probably, I'll help any way I can. What is his name?" Maddie asked the Themysciran princess. "Spider-Man," Diana answered Maddie, to her bewilderment. Millie hopped in glee. "You are looking for Spider-Man!?" She shouts with amazement, catching a large group of Spider-Men cosplayers, most of them with poor-quality costumes.
Diana notices them but ignores them to answer Millie. "Yes, I am. My friends and I want to talk to him about him joining us or the Avengers. And help him train in combat." Millie had stars in her eyes after hearing that. "Really?! You are?!" She asked excitedly with clenched fists close to her chest. Diana smiled and nodded to Millie's glee. "Yay! Spider-Man is my second favorite hero!" She said with her arms in the air.
Diana's smile grows bigger by Millie's reaction. "Oh yeah? Why is that?" She asks the little girl. "Because he saved my baby brother from a burning building!" She said, making her mother flinch by the answer. Maddie frowns inwardly, not liking to remember that day.
Maddie wrapped her arms around Millie, wanting to hold her for comfort, causing her to look up at her mother and notice her forlorn expression. "Oh, I'm sorry, mommy. I didn't mean to make you sad." Millie said apologetically. Maddie kissed her forehead, telling her it was ok.
Diana felt terrible for bringing it up. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Maddie shook her head in dismissal. "No, no, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just a sore spot; it was my fault in the first place." Diana frowns in confusion, and Maddie clarifies.
"When I heard screaming outside my apartment door, I stepped out to see what was wrong, and I got pushed by a large group of people trying to get out of the building. I fell and hit my head so hard that I passed out," She paused for a moment, "When I woke up ten minutes later, I found out the apartment building was on fire, with my son still inside. I tried to get into the building to get him, but I got blocked by the firemen because the fire was getting worse." As Maddie tells her story, her eyes starts to water, and she holds Millie a bit tighter.
"Then Someone shouted out, "Spider-Man," and everyone looked up, seeing him swinging over to the burning building. I got dispirit and shouted "Save my baby, please," he must have heard me because he swung in a broken window. It was only a minute, but it felt like an hour waiting for them to come out. And when he finally leaped out and softly landed next to me, I felt like my world spun again after hearing Luke cry with no burn on him." She said with a watery smile.
Diana smiles softly after hearing Maddie's story of Spider-Man, feeling slightly proud of him. But the tender moment has been shattered by a loud sound.
"This is J. Jonah Jameson here for breaking news!" Diana, Millie, and Maddie look up to see the daily bugle jumbotron. "That wall-crawling menace is at it again! Spider-man got into a fight with his co-conspirators! How do we know this? Well, Daily Planet's Lois Lane-Kent is on the scene live as we speak!"
The screen switched to Lois, reporting the hero and villain fight. "Spider-man is fighting five very dangerous villains as he is trying to save a couple who were barely eaten by King Shark and are caught in the middle of the fight!"
Cheetah scratched Spider-Man from behind while he held Killer Croc by the jaws to keep him from biting his head off. Millie gasped in shock and hugged her mom to hide from the sight.
Diana was stunned to see this. Why were these villains here together, and why are they attacking Spider-Man?
Lois continues. "Hopefully, Spider-Man can stop them and bring the couple to safety." She said with worry.
It cut back to Jonah. "And who do you think caused all of this? I can only guess that Spider-Man is behind this! When will this carelessness end!? When will someone stop this before someone ends up in body bags!?" Diana had seen and heard enough. "Now that I know where he is, I need to go!" Diana crouched and looked at Millie, She smirk and said. "Be good to your mom. okay?" She leap up and flew off toward the fight with booming speed to the crowed surprise especially Maddie.
Millie, however, cupped her hands to her mouth and yelled. "Go get em, Wonder Woman!!"
Diana was speeding off like a rocket, trying to get to Spider-Man before the villains killed him. "This is Diana. I know where Spider-Man is, and he needs help. Spider-Man is fighting five individuals and is injured. Please respond," 'BOOM!' Diana stopped midair. "Oh my Gods!"
Beetle fired a wrist missile launcher and hit the side of the building, trying to hit Spider-Man with it but dodged it, "Dude, has your mother ever told you not to play with missile launchers?" He said as he webbed the chucks of the building from falling on the couple, then Spidey webbed the villain's eyes and feet to blind and immobile them.
After he landed in front of the car, the couple was in "Can you turn on the car and drive away?" The man tries to start the car, but it stalls. "I can't get it to start!" He said in worry.
Spidey uses his feet to push the vehicle they are in to get them to safety. "Steer yourself away from here, and when you stop, get out of there, get to safety, and call the police. OK?"
The couple can only nod as they roll away. While Spider-Man helps the couple to escape, Jimmy films the scene, catching how Spidey is not a menace like J. Jonah Jameson portrays him to be.
The villains were still webbed up, so Spidey checked his web-shooter cartridge, which was half full, "Yep, I'm so going to be late." he said with his shoulders slumped. "Raah!" Spider-man turned to the noise to see Cheetah free and angry. "I'm gonna claw your eyes out!" She shouted.
"Calm yourself, cheetah!" Cheetah turns her head to see Doc Ock climbing down a building, "I told you that we need to attack him together, or he'll knock you out individually. Trust me, I know." Otto said lowly.
Spider-Man was surprised to see Doc Ock. "Yo bowl cut! Hey, long time no see. How've you been? It's been like, what, three months since the last sinister 6?" Spidey can see the remaining villains have freed themselves and are gathering around to corner him. Otto smiles down at him as she answers.
"Yes, it has been a while since we last came to blows. However, unlike last time you've met your match, if not your superiors in strength, speed, and wit," he said as he gestured to the team. "Meet the new and improved Sinister Six, the instruments of your demise!" Otto says with a wicked smile.
Lois was shocked. A new Sinister Six, with a few of the most dangerous sets of villains. Why are they after him? And why so many for one superhero? None of this makes any sense.
Spider-Man was nervous and was almost out of his web fluid. He'd be overwhelmed and beaten if he didn't end this quickly. He needs to take out the fastest one in the group, and that was Cheetah. He noticed that she has a temper, Lucky for him he has a talent for pissing peaple off.
Diana saw the explosion and immediately dashed toward it as her com came online. "This is Batman to Diana. Do you copy Diana?" While flying, Diana presses on her communicator, "Yes, Batman, I hear you. I'm heading toward Spider-Man's location as we speak." She answered. "Good," said Batman, "But when you get there, don't interfere with his fight."
Diana stops in the air with a shocked expression on her face. "What do you mean not to interfere?! Did you not see the News?!" She said as she continued to fly to Spider-Man's location.
"Spider-Man is known to fight multiple criminals simultaneously, including supervillains. I want to assess his combat skills to see where he's at." Diana was about to shoot down that reasoning. Still, as she arrived where Spider-Man was, she overheard they're conversation.
"Yeah, ok, but why Cheetah?" Spidy asked, pointing at Cheetah in question. The mad doctor looked at Spider-Man, confused by what he had said. Wonder Woman was baffled as well. 'Does he not know how dangerous Cheetah is? Why would he say that?' Wonder Woman thought to herself.
Cheetah, on the other hand, was offended. "What the hell is that supposed to mean!? Am I not good enough for you or something?!" Spider-Man raises his hand in defense. "Look, I just mean that you don't fit the requirements that Otto had in mind."
Now Otto knows what he is doing and tries to warn her. "Cheetah, don't listen to him!" but she doesn't listen to Otto. "And what are they, bug!?" Spider-man crossed his arms smugly and said, "Oh, you know, strength, speed, and wit." Diana looked at Spider-Man bugged-eyed. 'Dose he has a death wish!?' she thought worryingly.
To Cheetah, that was the most insulting thing anyone had said to her. She repeatedly fought Wonder Woman and her teammates and stood by powerful men and women. And she is an Archaeologist and Historian, and he had the gall to say that to her face? The nerve. "I'm going to make you regret saying that to me!" Cheetah threatens.
With that, she dashed forward with her claws out, but Spider-Man grabbed her wrist, rolled on his back, and kicked her 20 feet in the air. Cheetah felt like the air was knocked out of her lungs.
Cheetah was surprised that Spider-Man was fast enough to dodge her attack and make a counter-attack at the same time. And before she can do anything, Spider-Man shoots a web line to her chest.
With a savage yank, he slams her down the sidewalk, knocking her out. After that, Spidey webs her arms and legs to the floor. "One down, five to go." Spider-Man turned, crouched with one hand forward and the other behind him. "All right, who's next?" He asked with a head tilt.
