In August 10 of the Britannian calender and the 33rd year of Showa Era of the Japanese system, the Holy Britannian Empire declared war on the small island nation of Japan. Rights to Japan's underground resources had become a hotly disputed issue which strained the already deep rooted diplomatic tensions between the two nations. In the battle for the mainland, Britannia utilized a newly made weapon humanoid autonomous armored knight, or more commonly known, the Knightmare frame. In the early weeks of the invasion, Britannia pushed through the Japanese Army, crushing any opposition in the mainland. Britannia believing their new weapon to be indestructible, become over reliant on it. But everything changed after Japan had won it's first victory in Itsukushima.

It was hard to believe. Japan's single victory in Itsukushima had shown Britannia's new weapon to be obsolete and that it wasn't indestructible. That single battle, led to becoming the framework of Anti-Knightmare warefare. Within a two weeks Britannia was pushed back out of the mainland, and the morale of the Japanese Army was at an all time high.

Soon the E.U. and Chinese Federation got involved and sent forces to Japan. After reinforcements were sent, Britannia was officially pushed out of the country, the Royal Navy's Pacific fleet was completely destroyed after a joint taskforce of E.U. and Chinese fleets ultimately sank them to tye ocean floor. The Britannian Homeland was outraged at the Emperor and the Aristocracy by the sudden loses that they had sustained from the war invasion. Causing massive civil unrest, including in the other Areas.

With all these events, it ultimately led to Britannia to sue for white peace.

With the end of the war, many people had died. It was considered one of the bloodiest wars ever recorded, due to Britannia's ruthless tactics. Many lives were lost and Japan once again began rebuilding itself just as it did after the first Pacific war. The invasion also caused the death of Emperor Hirohito Showa, which caused even more outrage against Britannia amongst the Japanese. Hate for Britannians was at an all time in Japan.

Negotiations were being held in Damascus, the capital of the Middle Eastern Federation as like Japan, it was a neutral nation. While the Japanese and Britannia delegations negotiate terms on a peace treaty. A certain former prince also had his own negotiations.

Particularly with the new Emperor of Japan.

Empire of Japan, Tokyo, Akasaka Imperial residence, 2010 a.t.b.

Inside the currently rebuilding Akasaka Imperial Villa. The newly crowned Emperor of Japan, Akihito Tsugu and the young Prince of the Holy Britannia Empire, Lelouch Vi Britannia, were currently having a meeting in the Emperor's study room. It was the only room in the entire building that was fully intact. The young Britannian Prince had requested an audience with the sovereign of Japan in order to gain asylum to the nation. As there was no way they could return back. Lelouch was sure of this, once he and his sister return, they'll be faced with even more danger. With how the war went, many in the Royal court will try to take advantage and try to use them in the war of succession. Besides all allies of House vi Britannia have all fallen from grace or had simply joined House Velaines after his mother's death. There was just simply no way Nunnally can survive back in the Homeland, not even Cornelia or Schneizel can protect, it just simply was too unsafe.

So left with no other choice, he now has to seek refuge in the country that he was sent as a hostage to. Though he wasn't sure if it would go well.

"You wish to seek asylum?" The new Emperor of Japan, Akihito Tsugu asks surprised.

"Yes, your majesty. I wish to seek asylum Japan," the raven haired prince confirms.

The young Emperor stared at him. "Do you realise what this means?" Akihito inquired. Asking him him if he knows what it would mean.

"I'm aware, I'm also aware of how the Japanese Aristocracy views me and my sister." Lelouch cringed at the very word.

Useless

That is what the Japanese Aristocracy and Government now views him and his sister as, useless. The sole reason as to why Japan allowed for two Britannian royals to be taken as political envoys in the first place, was to ensure their saftey. It was the popular idea that Britannia wouldn't invade if two Britannian royals were in Japan. Yet despite that, Britannia still declared war.

"With that in mind you do realise I have no authority whatsoever to keep you here," Akihito said, grabbing the handle of his tea cup. "My position is simply symbolic, I have no authority to allow you asylum."

"But I'm not worth that much to them anyway, after all I relinquished my claim to throne," Lelouch said in a weak tone, looking down on his dangling feet.

The Emperor took a sip of his tea before he spoke. "Well that's where you are wrong, your highness," Akihito words caught the attention of the child who raised his face toward the Emperor of Japan. "Turns out your father never recognized your little declaration."

The Young boy's eyes went wide in shick at he just heard. His father never recognized his relinquishment of his claim to the throne?! Why!? There is absolutely no way! There was no way his father didn't allow it, after all he called him weak and useless for just questioning his rule and ideology. Its the whole reason as to why he was sent here to Japan.

"It doesn't really matter anyway, your brother Schneizel has been asking for the status of you and your sister now," Akihito also said, which made the Prince terrified. Knowing that his father will learn that he is still alive along with Nunnally. "So I'm afraid we still have to send you bacn anyway," he said as Lelouch trembled by the very thought of returning back.

Lelouch trembling at the very thought of returning back to the Homeland, was petrified in fear. He knew one way or another, he will have to face his siblings in the battle for the throne along with the Royal Court. And with how things went with the invasion many people in the Aristocracy will blame him for the failed invasion. But no one will face more danger returning than Nunnally. With her still crippled and blind, there is no telling what will happen if they returned. With so many dangers lurking around, he just doesn't know what to do.

Akihito gave no reaction whatsoever. "Prince Lelouch, you must understand my position is purely symbolic" Akihito states once more, as he takes another of his tea. "I have no political power whatsoever to even decide something like this. If you want, you can consult with Prime Kururugi about this."

"No!" Lelouch said with certainty, which took the Emperor a back. "It has to be you. I know fully well; even if you are just symbol of Japanese culture and head of state, you are the first foremost a god among your people," Lelouch elucidated. The Emperor was surprised with how knowledgeable the young boy was.

The Emperor face went from surprise to interest due to the boy's knowledge. "I'm surprised you knew about this, only the High Eunuchs of the Federation knew about my hidden authority. What made you come across this information?" The Emperor asked, with a small smirk on his face.

Lelouch seeing the Emperor's smirk, responded with a smirk of his own. "Quite simple really, during my stay I took quite an interest into the politics of Japan over past hundred years, from the Meiji restoration," Lelouch began, as the Emperor became even more interested. "Even though position of Emperor had became merely ceremonial ever since the first Pacific War, the Emperor still attend all hearings of the Imperial diet and the house of peers and has been part of all military decisions. My suspicions were confirmed, when I saw you at the Imperial headquarters approving the decisions made by the military. Who were supposed to be 'independent' from you, your majesty."

The Emperor continued to be impressed by the Boy's geniusness. In just the age of ten, he had just figured out the unspoken authority that he the Emperor held. He heard of his genius from Kirihara whenever he visited the Imperial palace, informing him of the status of the two royals.

"The old man wasn't exaggerating," the Emperor was now tempted to keep him here. With such a genius in their hands, Japan they could have a chance against Britannia in case they they declare war in them again in the future.

"I can see that you are now tempted to keep me here your majesty," Lelouch said, noticing the Emperor's temptation. "My father saw my sister as weak, and that I was dead to him. I would do anything to kill that man and to find my mother's murderers," Lelouch said with certainty. The Emperor reaction was mix of surprise and shock, shocked to see to a child with such thoughts of vengeance and surprised to hear of what the Emperor had called his children. Its no wonder why he didn't want to return.

"Then you must understand," The Emperor put down his tea cup on the table. "Once you do this, there is now way for you to return."

"That's my intention, your majesty. I have no interest in going back, Britannia as whole is corrupt and barbaric. I will no let Nunnally... suffer again," he declared, his eyes burned with determination. Determination to take revenge on the very system that caused his family to be destroyed. "I will obliterate Britannia."

If Akihito wasn't impressed before, than he sure was now. He understood his reasons, he also would not allow anything to happen to his siblings. Even though his isn't the first born child of his father, he still ascended the throne. His older sisters were treated as political tools for the nobility that they can use, just because they were women. He will admit, Japan also needed to change. It was still stuck in the past, their society as a whole is still to hostile toward foreigners. If things do not change soon, Japan will no doubt find more enemies as time goes on both from within and out. Yet a child was willing to that and even had the guts to declare it as well.

The room was silent for a while, Lelouch thought he failed in his negotiations as clutched his trousers as he sucked his teeth in fear. But it was far from that. As the silence inside the room was broken, the Emperor chuckled which soon became full blown laugh.

Lelouch at first was confused and taken aback by his reaction wondering what was happening.

The Emperor's laugh died down as he spoke. "You... are quite an amusing one... Prince Lelouch. Compared to other children your age, the thought of wanting to destroy their home nation wouldn't even pop up in their heads," Akihito muses, as the prince's cheeks turned pink. "Well then, I can arrange something. Japan speciality is information control," the Emperor says as he gets up. "It will be risky, but since it is your desire we will do our best to insure that you won't return," the Emperor opened the door.

The young boy, could only look on overjoyed as to what the Emperor had just said. It meant that everything went well and he and his sister won't have to return to Britannia.

"Thank you your majesty," Lelouch says getting down from his seat and bowed in gratitude.

"Don't forget, the only reason I'm doing this is because, you peaked my interest boy," the Emperor tells him with a glance holding the door.

"If that's the reason, then I don't mind. Whatever the reason, I could care less than going back to Britannia," Lelouch tells him. Which made young Emperor grin.

With that the Emperor took his leave closing the door behind him. Leaving the now former prince alone in he study room.

"That went better than expected," the boy thought as he went up the window looking up at the blue sky. "With this I'll begin preparing for my crusade."

With that Everything is set. Though he will admit, he could've asked for more, but with the results he had gained today was good enough. He now has the Emperor of Japan on his side along with the Kururugi clan, now all he needs is to Kirihara to adopt him and Nunnally. Though that wouldn't be as difficult, considering how Kirihara had quite the interest in him as well. He is also fond of Nunnally, and that was good enough. All he needs to do know is to bring Ruben Ashford. Considering how the war showed how powerful Knightmares are it won't take long for the other nations to build their own. The sheer destructive scope of the Knightmare was enough to convince them otherwise. The Anti-Knightmare tactics that the Japanese Army made will be useless in he future anyway. With how rapidly Britannia is advancing technologically, it won't be long before they make new Knightmares. Ones which all adapt to the Anti-Knightmare warfare.

Oh well, even if it takes years for his plan to fruition, it didn't matter. If he wished to bring down Britannia, he will have to to be patient. If he ever wants to find his mother's killers or to kill his father, he needed to have patience and mostly importantly, time. He will accomplish his bring justice to those that have harmed his family, no matter the cost.

Holy Britannian Empire, Homeland, Pendragon, Imperial Palace

In the great throne room of the mighty Britannian Empire, Charles zi Britannia sat alone. He had been waiting for Schneizel to return from the negotiations in Damascus. Seeing as how the invasion had ended in a catastrophic failure, he had choice but to abandon the thought elevator in Japan for now. Many in the Homeland had voiced dissatisfaction for his rule after the poor results that had sprouted from the invasion. Particularly from Grand Duke el Grande a Grand Duke Velaines. Velaines as usual talked about the unnecessary civilian casualties that was caused by their army during the invasion, he had disliked Velaines due to his preachings of equality and liberalism. Foolish ideals, as he said before, equality is for the weak, as those who always call for it end up destroying themselves. Then again House Velaines has always been known for that. Then of course el Grande, for the past few years they had been eyeing for the throne, Charles himself knew that if he were to show any sign of weakness el Grande will use it as a way to delegitimize his rule. He had carefully watched his every move making sure to not make a single mistake as time goes by. But it wil all be meaningless once Ragnarök begins. But due to the failed invasion, Ragnarök has been set back. It will take time, but they will eventually invade Japan again.

Soon the doors to the Throne room opened and came in the second prince, third in line to the throne and the soon to be prime minister, Schneizel el Britannia. Schneizel stopped at distance in front the Emperor, bowing down before the very ruler of the Empire, as he was prepared to bring in his full report on the negotiations with Japan. "Your majesty, I have finished finalising the negotiations with Japan."

"Report," Charles demanded.

"Your majesty, we have agreed for a ten year non-aggression pact with Japan. We are to pay ten billion pounds in war reparations to Japan for the next two years due to the amount of infrastructural damage. Furthermore Japan will no longer supply us of Sakuradite until all reparations are paid and-"

"Mundane," Charles cut him off, taking the Young prince off guard, causing him to raise his head. "I do not care of such trivial things."

"Trivial...?" Schneizel stuttered dumbfounded. "Your majesty, don't you understand tye severity of the situation!?" Schneizel inquires, thinking his father had gone insane.

"I'm well aware, that is why it is trivial. Such mundane things does not matter for Britannia, as we will always manage to survive," Charles states, making the prince even more dumbfounded.

"Now, tell me. What of Lelouch and Nunnally?" Charles asked.

Schneizel quickly snapped back to reality at the mention of his siblings. His expression turn grim, as he tried to inform him of their fate. "They... the-they died in the invasion your majesty. They- they didn't survive," Schneizel stuttered as he broke the news. He was saddened by this revelation. When he learned of their deaths, he was all but shocked, he thought for sure that tye Japanese had killed him, but it turned they were killed in the first weeks of the invasion by their bombing raids. If he had known that Lelouch was residing in Kururugi shrine, he would've ordered to call of the attack. The Japanese even reported that their bodies couldn't be found. It was heartbreaking, he has no idea how he could break this news to his siblings, or to the ones that care about Lelouch and Nunnally.

"So... they were weak after all," Charles states, which takes Schneizel aback for a moment. "This proves they was not worthy of being called my kin. Well it doesn't matter, though they were weak they are still of Royal blood, as such a funeral will be held for the both of them."

Hearing what his father had just said about his children, Schneizel wondered if he even cared about him and his siblings or even if he had a shed of love for them. As much as he tried to deny that he was wrong, eventually it became clear to him; his father simply did not care.

"Yes your majesty, I will arrange the funeral proceedings at once," Schneizel says, squeezing his free hand in rage.

"Then begone from my sight," Charles dismissed. Schneizel quickly made his way to out of the room, slamming the door behind him. After making sure he had left Charles calls for a man. "Is it true?"

Suddenly a man wearing an suit appeared from behind the pillars of the throne room, appearing to be an agent from the O.S.I. "Fortunately no, your majesty, the Prince and Princess are very much alive," the man reports.

Charles could only snort in offense. "Ha, the boy is desperate in not wanting to return," Charles says.

"Should we prepare a strike team to retrieve them?" The agent asks.

"No. If he wishes to stay in Japan, then let him. he will return back to me eventually," Charles said with finality. He was confident in Lelouch returning back to him, there was no way that boy could survive without his power. Sooner or later, Japan will be conquered by them eventually, this is just a setback.

"How goes the construction of the sword of Akasha?" Charles asked the agent.

"Lord V.V. reports, its reaching the final stages of its construction," the agent reports.

"Good. Soon god will be slayed and the world of lies will be destroyed," Charles rambles. The promise he and his brother made years ago will be complete no matter what happens everything will go accordingly. Even if his brother had betrayed him and killed Marianne it won't matter once Ragnarök begins.

"Congratulations agent, you have a new assignment now," Charles spoke, which made the OSI agent curious.

"What is my new assignment?" The agent asks with a bow.

"You are to observe Lelouch and Nunnally, report and update their every move at all times,"Charles tells him.

"Understood your majesty," the agent acknowledged, leaving the throne room, as he disappeared from the shadows.

Now only Charles remained inside. Nothing will stand in his way of achieving his dream, ever since the day his father the former crown prince died years ago along with his mother on that fateful day. The promise he had made with his brother will be fulfilled. Nothing will get in the way of plans.

If Lelouch intends to oppose him let him. he will realise eventually that opposing him is futile. As Ragnarök is inevitable.

"Then boy, prove yourself worthy to be called my son and try to stop Ragnarök connection." Two bird like sigils appear on the eyes of Charles zi Britannia. "For I am, inevitable."
