Episode 8: Super Explosive Warrior Race
"Germany! Here our competitors encountered the glorious Alps, as fun to go up, as it is to come down."
"They also learned why Germany is world-renowned for the care they put into their sausages!"
"From this day on, however, Germany will only be known for two things: its traditional dance, and noteworthy smackdowns."
"There's almost an even dozen left, but not for long, on Total! Drama! Woooorrrrlllddd~ Tooouuurrrr~!"
(Theme Song)
The episode opened with the now-typical shot of the Total Drama Jumbo Jet in flight, the camera quickly cutting to economy class as Anne Maria asked "So...how've you been, Caleb?" The scene was focused squarely on the two, the bigger of whom seemed to have been caught off-guard by the question.
"Oh, well, not so good," Caleb told his friend. "Scott evades elimination, and one of my teammates doesn't trust me."
"Yeah, I shoulda seen that comin'," Anne Maria said with an awkward sort of laugh. "Sky may be ultra competitive, but she does want what's best in the game."
"And for her, that'd be typecasting me as a seducing jerk who likes to charm girls just for my own benefit," Caleb huffed, and Anne Maria placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"Just stay away from each other for a while," Anne Maria advised. "The last thing we need right now is you two bickerin'."
The camera cut to Sky and Sam on the other side. "This is so unfair. Chris had to expose our confessionals and I badmouthed Caleb in mine," Sky griped.
"I know you didn't want that to happen, but personally, what you said was kind of harsh," Sam admitted, his eyes glued to his GameGuy. "Caleb's a cool guy once you get to know him, and he hasn't done anything manipulative."
"After what happened, there is no doubt that Caleb hates me," Sky sighed.
Confessional: Sky
"If I knew that this was going to happen, I would have kept my mouth shut and not give Chris any ammo to use against us," Sky said in the restroom confessional. "I messed this up big time!"
Confessional Ends
The scene focused on a rat crawling across the overhead compartment before a jolt of turbulence knocked it into Scott's mouth. The devious farmer woke up, spat out the rodent, and wiped his mouth. "Stupid economy class!" he swore.
"Being back here has some advantages," Anne Maria said with a smirk. "Seeing you upset is one."
"Next time we get on this plane, we better be in first class," Scott swore.
"Next time we get on this plane, we better be in first class," Eva swore after the camera flashed to the opposite wall, where the four members of Team Warrior were sitting.
"I know you don't like being in second place," Gwen told Eva, "but it is your fault that we're here."
"So what?" Eva asked. "Topher could've won it for us if he didn't fall off the platform."
"Brick is miles stronger than me," Topher protested. "If you stayed on the platform, you would've had a better chance than me at beating him."
"Guys, enough arguing and blaming each other," Jasmine ceased. "We should be fortunate that we didn't lose a member last time, and with Ripper gone, we're four to the Explosive team's four and the Super team's five."
"I agree," Gwen added. "We should be thinking up ways on how to win the next challenge rather than doing all of this."
"Here's the best team ever…" Chris said as he stepped in the cabin, gaining everyone's attention, "...is exactly what I'll say when I get into the first class compartment."
All nine teens glared at him.
Confessional: Jasmine
"Eva's been pretty buggy lately, and it's getting on my last nerve," Jasmine said seriously. "She should be grateful that we're progressing through the game with the amount of members we have now, not acting petty over a ranking."
Confessional Ends
The season's world map was shown, depicting the plane icon flying from Central Europe to South America.
The scene cut to Team Explosive relaxing in their reclining seats. A high-pitched squeal signaled the intercom turning on, and the four teens shot annoyed looks upward. "Brace for landing!" Chris announced over it. "We've arrived at our next destination: The Amazon! Buuut the runway's a liiiiittle short." The camera focused on Chase grimacing and buckling his seatbelt as another squeal signaled the end of the transmission.
"The Amazon?!" Brick perked up. "Great!"
"And what's gotten you so hyped up?" Rodney wondered.
"Me and Jasmine have always wanted to visit the Amazon," Brick explained. "For Jasmine, the animals remind her of her own home, but I'm interested in the navigating you can do around there."
"Hopefully none of us have any allergies to the animals," Chase said. "Those things require Epipens, and if not used correctly, they can drive you crazy. At least that's what Millie taught me since she has an allergy to peanuts."
"You're so lucky to have a girlfriend who cares so much about you," Heather said sweetly.
"Thank you," Chase said gratefully. "You're pretty nice, Heather."
"Tell me something I know," Heather muttered after turning away from the others.
The scene flashed to a runway in the middle of the jungle as the jet descended into the scene trailing smoke from one of its engines. It touched down in the middle and immediately left the screen, a crash shook the camera seconds later.
"Welcome to Peru," Chris told them, the cast now gathered in their teams at the jungle's edge. The background noise was filled with the chatter of birds and insects and frogs, and the ruins of a small stone building were visible through the trees. "Birthplace of the mighty Amazon River! This challenge is called the 'Am-AHHHH-Zon Race'," he explained, acting scared as he pronounced the second syllable. "Team must hike along an ancient Inca trail," the camera panned across a dirt path leading through the jungle, "through the Peruvian jungle, all the way to Machu Picchu." The camera cut to the base of the famous site and panned up to the top, where a statue with a familiar silhouette stood atop a building. "Hidden somewhere among the ruins of Machu Picchu, a golden treasure awaits discovery!" The members of Team Explosive were shown exchanging excited smiles.
"Find the treasure to win first class passage to our next destination," Chris said. "Last team to arrive at Machu Picchu will have to send someone out the elimination door." One by one each team was shown looking and listening with wary expressions. "And be warned," Jasmine immediately looked nervous, "the jungle contains many vicious insects!" The Outback girl raised her hand.
"Let me guess," Chris sighed in exasperation. "You wanna know if any of them have been tested for rabies."
"Pretty much," Jasmine admitted. "You can never be too careful."
"Anyway," Chris told them with a smile, "you might wanna be on the look out for are the Zing-Zings," he told them, holding up a photograph. It depicted two brown-skinned individuals in colorful headdresses with monstrous masks that covered their faces; both of them were half-hidden by the trees they were peeking out from behind. "A native tribe who have nev-er encountered modern man," the host explained over a shot of the skeptical members of Team Super, "and, they're not about too," the photo was shown in close-up. "So, if you spot a Zing-Zing, do. Not. Make. Contact." As he spoke, a loud drum started up behind him. "They-" he began to add before pursing his lips and shooting an annoyed look behind him, where the camera revealed Chef beating on a tall drum. "Will you stop that?!" Chris said, and the cook obliged with a shrug.
"How far is it to Mega Pikachu anyway or whatever?" Anne Maria asked.
"Machu Picchu," Chris corrected with a smile, "is a hop, skip, and a jump from here. Plus eighteen hours."
The cast groaned in unison, with Team Warrior getting shown by the camera. "The jungle is too dangerous to travel at night," the host warned them, "so, teams will have to break at dusk and camp along the trail until sunrise."
"And I assume there are no tents?" Brick asked.
"Correctamundo," Chris told him. "Now, because the playing area is so vast and dangerous, each team will have a walkie-talkie in case of emergencies." He picked up a cardboard box filled with the devices. "Teams, I wish you good luck," he said. "Or, at the very least, a lack of death."
The footage skipped ahead to Team Super and Team Explosive standing at a fork in their trail, their respective team icons hovering above them on the screen.
"So, what do you think?" Scott asked.
"I think we should go left," Caleb said.
As Team Super headed down the left path, the camera moved on to Team Explosive. "We're going left," Brick told his teammates as he smirked at the five-person team.
The cadet headed down the left path, and after a shared shrug, the rest of Team Explosive followed.
"Maybe we should go right?" Eva suggested as the camera flashed to Team Warrior at the fork, their team symbol above them.
"We need to go left," Topher said. "If we go left and it's wrong, then everyone will be wrong."
"Yeah! Safety in numbers," Gwen agreed.
Confessional: Eva
"I don't know which path is the correct one, but I prefer the one that'll score us the win," Eva admitted to the restroom camera.
Confessional Ends
"Let Jasmine decide," Eva told the team. "She's the navigation expert."
"Thanks Eva, and I say we go right and not mindlessly follow the other teams," Jasmine decided. "Any arguments?"
"None from me," Gwen said with a shrugged before they started down the right path.
"Hey, it's Team Super!" Chris greeted the biggest team as the footage skipped ahead again. They were standing on top of a platform rising out of a tree by the river; a zipline extended from above them in the top-right down to the bottom-left part of the screen. "You get to cross this water hazard using the t-bar," he pointed at the triangular piece hanging just above him. "Everyone else will have to take the line hand-over-hand."
"Sucks to be them!" Anne Maria said. Caleb and Sam grabbed hold of the bar with one arm, and the camera pulled back to show Sky on Sam's shoulders, Scott holding on to Caleb, and Anne Maria holding on to Sam, and the team took off down the line.
"Go Team Super!" Sam hollered in excitement as they rapidly descended.
A flash took the scene back to Team Warrior, who were now making their way through the jungle with flies swarming around them.
"Eva!" Gwen called out to Eva, who was at the front of the group. "Don't you think we should slow down and pace ourselves a little?"
"And fall behind?" Eva replied with an incredulous look. "Seriously?"
"Yes, seriously," Topher spoke up. "We can't keep this going for eighteen hours!"
"I think they have a point," Jasmine added. "Besides, I'm sure we're already way ahead of the other teams. We can probably slow down and take it easier, so we don't get all tired at the end."
"That...kind of makes sense," Eva admitted. "Can't wear ourselves out on the first day of the challenge."
"Especially since I think we're the only team that took this path," Gwen added.
"Meaning we're the only ones headed in the right direction!" Jasmine said with a confident grin.
Eva slowed to a stop, then turned around to address her teammates. "Alright Team Warrior, we're gonna ease up for the rest of the day," she told them, the camera panning across their smiling faces. "But only so we can get moving faster tomorrow."
"Of course," Topher grumbled.
The shot cut back over to the zipline, where Team Explosive were now standing on the high platform with Chris.
"Wait, isn't there supposed to be something we can use to slide down the line?" Heather asked in confusion.
"Normally, yes," Chris explained with a smile. "But as Team Super got here first, you guys will have to go without."
"Aww," Chase sighed. "Now we'll fall even further behind."
"We don't need a t-bar," Brick declared, stepping forward and grabbing the line as the background music welled up dramatically. "We are Team Explosive!" Close-ups were shown of him taking off his belt and throwing it over the line. "Arriba!" he called out as he jumped off the platform and slid down the line.
"If he can do it, so can I!" Rodney declared, grabbing the line with both hands and jumping off. The shot pulled back to a distance as it had for Brick, but this time showing a distinct trail of smoke along the line as his bare hands rubbed against it. "My hands are on fire!" he hollered in pain before he let go of the line and plunged into the river below.
He immediately jumped up out of the water as several small fishes began to bite and chomp at him and howled painfully.
"Oh yes," Chris said as the shot cut back to the platform where Chase and Heather were watching with concern and apathy respectively. "There may or may not be piranhas in this water."
The scene moved back to Team Warrior, Topher now walking at the front of their group. He stopped suddenly and surprise filled his face, and the viewpoint shifted to show a pair of brown-skinned men sitting on rocks on opposite sides of a campfire. They were holding spears, and their garb and masks were identical to the tribe that Chris had warned everyone about.
"Guys, we found the Zing-Zings!" Topher whispered to his teammates. "Let's get out of here before-" He looked over his shoulder at his team, and the camera showed that they had frozen still. Topher looked back in front, and let out a startled squeak when he saw one of the Zing-Zings staring at him mere inches away. He quickly scrambled back to her teammates, who were shown front-on as a pair of spears were pointed at them.
"I knew we should've taken another path," Gwen muttered.
Jasmine quickly held up their walkie-talkie. "Hey, Chris?" she whispered into it. "We need some help here!" There was no response, so in growing panic, Jasmine repeated "Chris? Chris?!" A small panel sprung out the bottom of the device, revealing two free springs. "No batteries," she told the team.
The scene cut to a close-up of a pile of batteries lying on what appeared to be the rim of a tub of water. The camera pulled back to show Chef Hatchet in the jumbo jet's hot tub, playing a handheld game console. "Eat that, ghost! Eat it!" he said over the sounds of the game.
Back with Team Explosive, Chris was standing with Heather and Chase on the treetop platform.
"This should be interesting," Chris said as the camera cut to the daredevil, who had decided to use his pants as a makeshift t-bar.
"Yeah!" Chase yelled as he jumped off the platform, the camera zooming out as he rapidly descended without noticing the smoke coming from his clothing. "Uh-oh," he said once he noticed his pants had caught fire. They were burnt to a crisp and he fell into the water, only to leap out seconds later and run to the other shore in order to avoid the snapping piranhas.
"He's got good vertical," Heather commented from the platform while holding on to Chase's belt.
"For a guy jumping out of piranha-infested water?" Chris asked, "I'll say."
The camera cut out to Chase as he flopped on the shore. He opened his mouth and removed a fish that had somehow stuck itself on the daredevil's tongue.
"And as for you?" Chris asked impishly to the remaining Explosive member back at the platform.
"Chase is really generous enough to give his belt to me," Heather bragged. The scene skipped forward to show her stringing the belt over the zipline, and she jumped off the platform.
"Look out below!" Heather called out as she reached the far shore, where Rodney and Chase were stumbling up the beach looking quite worse for wear. They sluggishly stopped to look behind them, and were immediately bowled over by the raven haired girl.
Once more, the scene flashed to Team Warrior. They were now tied up along the trunk of a massive tree near where the two Zing-Zings were tending to their fire; from left to right were Jasmine, Eva, Gwen, and Topher.
"Well this is just great," Eva grumbled.
"We just need to get out...," Jasmine said until widening her eyes in sudden realization. "The flashlight! Maybe we can put the batteries from it into the walkie-talkie!"
"Good idea!" Topher said. "Oh, but wait, it's in my back right pocket and I can't reach it 'cause of the ropes."
"Well, maybe someone else can grab it," Eva said with a pointed look at Gwen.
"You're talking about me?" Gwen asked in disbelief.
"Who else can reach him?" Eva hissed.
"No way am I putting my hand down someone's pants," Gwen protested.
Confessional: Gwen
"They might as well ask me to touch his butt!" Gwen continued her protest in the restroom confessional.
Confessional: Topher
"I don't get what the problem was," Topher confessed next. "I mean, I'm not going commando or anything."
Confessionals End
"Just do it!" Jasmine begged. "You're the only one who can save us right now!"
Gwen pursed her lips in annoyance. "Fine, but you guys owe me." She turned her attention to the boy on her left, and the camera focused in on her hand sticking out from under the ropes and reaching into her teammate's pocket. "Got it!" she said, a grin forming on her face and a triumphant tune playing as she pulled out the flashlight.
The music took a tense turn as the shot flashed to a close-up of a toucan perched on a branch; it looked back and flew off with a squawk as the camera panned to the right, showing Team Explosive entering a small clearing nearby.
"Dusk!" Brick said with a brief look skyward. "We can make camp here."
A short pan a little ways back left showed Rodney catching up and looking exhausted. "Oh wow," he moaned. "I could use any kind of food right now."
"We're in the middle of the jungle," Brick said. "There's no restaurants around."
"I didn't say I wanted a restaurant," Rodney shot back. "A banana would be pretty nice right now."
The music took a more victorious turn as the focus cut to Team Super as they ran through the jungle.
"Chris," Sky said as the five skidded to a stop in front of the host, "tell us you have food 'cause we're starving!"
The handsome man, who was standing in front of a long length of rope tied to a tree branch and leading up above off-screen, smiled. "Once again, Team Super, you're in first! And this is your reward!" He took a machete out from behind his back, turned around, and chopped through the rope. A small crate promptly dropped in front of the team, breaking open and revealing a bunch of bananas.
"Potassium!" Scott said in excitement as he and his teammates gazed upon the fruit.
"All the bananas you can eat" Chris said before a high-pitched screech came from his pocket.
"Chris, can you hear me?" Jasmine's panicked voice came over the walkie-talkie the host took out. "We've got trouble, with the Zing-Zings and the tree, and-"
"Wow," Chris told the camera blandly. "She sounds like she's really in trouble. I should pick this up."
"The spears!" Jasmine's voice came through again.
"After the break!" Chris grinned.
(Commercial Break)
The scene faded right back in to Chris and Team Super staring at the host's walkie-talkie as Jasmine's panicked voice repeated "Chris? Are you there?"
"Walkie-talkies are for emergencies only," Chris said sternly into the device. The close-up of him shrunk and was joined by an equally-small close-up of Jasmine, the two scenes set against a black background.
"This is an emergency!" Jasmine said quickly. "The Zing-Zings have us tied to a tree!"
"Can you slow down there, Jasmine?" Sam asked as the camera that was on Chris panned right just enough to include him in the shot as well. "You're talking a mile a minute!"
"Sorry Sam. It's just that I'm panicking right now," Jasmine told him.
"What's all this about?" Heather interrupted, a third inset scene appearing in the blackness and forcing the first two up.
"I don't know," Chris said into the walkie-talkie, "but if it's not an emergency I don't care."
"It is an emergency!" Eva said as she took hold of her team's walkie-talkie. "We're captured by Zing-Zings!"
"They've got spears as well! Help us!" Jasmine added.
"They're in serious trouble!" Sam said in panic.
"Okay!" Chris said with a smile. "Team Warrior, remain calm, aaaaanndd..." The pair of dings heralded the appearance of the music note symbol in the lower-right corner, Heather's inset scene moving aside to accommodate it. The background music was taken over by the tense theme that normally accompanied the build-up to an elimination ceremony.
"Are you serious?" Topher asked, the camera panning onto him as he swiped the walkie-talkie from Eva.
"We're in danger and you want us to sing?!" Gwen hissed.
"Would you like us to sing back-up?" Chase asked, entering the bottom-left inset next to Heather.
"Nope!" Chris answered. "This one is all Warrior. But! Let's make it end with a little solo from Eva. Aaaaand...begin!"
Team Warrior's inset immediately took over the scene again as the four began bobbing their heads in time with a vihuela that one of the Zing-Zings started playing. The camera followed all the way to the end of the tied-up line, where the other Zing-Zing was also playing a vihuela.
"If we had just gone left, we wouldn't be in this mess," Gwen opened the song, a panpipe entering the Zing-Zings' music.
"I thought so too, but Eva just had to charge ahead," Topher sang, the camera panning to the right and showing another tribesman playing the panpipe.
"If the Zing-Zings go soft;" Jasmine sang as the camera panned onto her and Eva.
"We probably won't be killed off," Eva added.
"Hope we're not forgotten!" Jasmine finished the verse, hanging her head sadly and closing her eyes.
The camera closed in on a Zing-Zing strumming their vihuela, then suddenly zoomed in on the sound hole as the beat dropped. The scene faded back in to an upward-angled shot of Gwen holding a coiled-up length of rope.
"Tied up rope is no joke," Gwen rapped to a mix of stuttered vihuela riffs and lone drum beats.
"Spears in our face, get us out of this place," Gwen continued as he recoiled from a spear that was pointed at her.
"Ain't havin' the luck that we anticipated," Gwen continued her rap, seemingly pleading with the retreating camera as she took a few steps towards it and put a hand on its side.
"One of us will be eliminated," Gwen leaned back as she finished her rap, smiling proudly as she added "Yeah, we're out!"
"Out!" Eva quickly began her prescribed solo as the camera focused on her. "Oh, oh yeah! Yeah! Yeah!"
As soon as the solo ended, the music did as well, and the Zing-Zings dropped their instruments. They gasped, then pointed at Eva and jabbered something in their native tongue that caused Jasmine to raise an eyebrow.
"Hold on, was that-" Jasmine murmured thoughtfully as the Zing-Zings scampered away.
"What are they doing now?!" Topher asked in alarm.
The shot cut to the Zing-Zings as they jabbered something else and pulled back some long leaves to reveal a large bust carved into a tree that bore a resemblance to the strong woman. The camera focused in on the golden mole symbol on the bust's face, which gleamed in the sunlight and looked identical to the mole that Eva always had.
"Maybe they think you're a god!" Gwen whispered to her teammate.
"Then what does that make us?" Topher asked as the camera showed the two Zing-Zings approaching in a menacing fashion.
The scene flashed to a bunch of banana peels scattered on the ground before the camera panned up and over to Team Super, who were gathered around a campfire. They were all curled up asleep, but Scott was still awake and twitching his eye at the growling being heard.
"Come on!" Scott exclaimed, waking up his team. "If you're that hungry, just eat the bananas we have left! I can't take the sounds of your stomachs growling!"
"But my stomach wasn't growling," Sam protested as he took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes.
"It wasn't me as well," Anne Maria said as she yawned.
"Then," Sky said in mild panic, "what was it?"
Just then, a rustling from the bushes got their attention. Scott immediately tensed up along with the background music, but that quickly eased up into something more lilting as the camera zoomed in on a tree and a small monkey poked its head out of the leaves. The shot pulled out as, all at once, countless more monkeys stuck their heads out of the surrounding foliage.
"I think we should start running," Anne Maria said nervously.
Another flash took the scene to another campfire, this time where Team Explosive was making their camp. Chase and Heather were sleeping on the ground while Brick and Rodney were sitting closest to the flames. A ferocious growl caused the two to gasp.
"Please tell me that was the fire," Rodney said worriedly.
"Fires don't growl," Brick told him.
"Then what was it?" Rodney asked.
Another growl from nearby caused the rest of the team to wake up, and the camera pulled back to show glancing around the area.
"What is that?" Brick asked.
The camera cut back to the group shot as Rodney leaned forward and blew on the fire, causing it to flare up just enough to illuminate a group of truly monstrous caterpillars that had surrounded the team. One reared back and spit something at the flame that extinguished it, and the waking members of Team Explosive began to scream as the giant larvae attacked them in darkness.
Yet another flash took the focus back to the tree-carved bust that resembled Eva, now illuminated only by the light of the nearby campfire. The camera panned to the left, where Eva was now seated on a wooden throne and getting attended to by the two Zing-Zings.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Eva asked them, moving her arm to drive them away. They backed off obligingly, revealing that they had painted Eva's face in a fashion that resembled the markings on the carved bust. "What's going on?"
The camera zoomed out to show the two Zing-Zings kneeling on either side of the throne, spears in hand. They raised their heads and jabbered something to one another, and the shot cut to the other members of Team Warrior who were still tied to the tree trunk.
"Okay, this is startin' to get weird," Topher commented, his brow raised in disbelief.
"It's only starting to get weird?" Gwen repeated with disbelief of her own.
Confessional: Eva
"I never believed I'd be worshiped by anybody, especially by Zing-Zings," Eva explained in the restroom confessional. "My mole, which is also my beauty mark, made itself special for once."
Confessional Ends
The camera cut to Team Super as they tiptoed through the jungle at night. "I think we lost them," Anne Maria commented.
"That's good," Sky added. The camera zoomed in on a lone twig in the path as Caleb stepped on it and snapped it in two.
"Oops," Caleb said just before the sound of screeching caused the five to run off.
The footage skipped forward to the smoldering remains of a stone-lined campfire pit; the sun had clearly risen. The camera panned up and to the right, showing most of Team Explosive battered and holding long sticks. Brick was on one knee and looking the most alert; Heather and Chase were asleep nearby; Rodney was nowhere to be seen.
"Daybreak!" Brick said, causing the two behind him to stir and stand up. "Let's get to Machu Picchu and find that treasure."
"Hopefully we can make a few bucks out of it!" Chase cheered and they left their camp.
The scene flashed to the members of Team Super crawling up a steep staircase cut into the side of a mountain.
"Welcome, Super Fivesome!" he greeted. "Somehow, you're still in first place. Find the treasure before anyone else," he said as the camera zoomed out to reveal the ruins of Machu Picchu, "and you'll leave Peru in first class."
"We got it!" Sky accepted.
"I gotta ask, though," Chris said with a frown, "what's with him?" The camera zoomed in on Sam, who was shivering and darting his eyes around.
"We were attacked by monkeys," Caleb explained. "Sam got the worst of it."
"Has the howling stopped yet?" Sam asked quietly.
"Let's split up," Sky directed. "We'll cover more ground."
The scene skipped ahead again, now showing three members of Team Explosive running up the stone steps with Heather in the lead.
"Uh-uh-uhh," Chris tutted to them at the plateau at the top. "You can't start searching until the whole team is here."
"Where's Rodney?!" Chase said in shock as they turned around.
"You never said that," Heather snapped. "Are you making this up as you go?"
"And this surprises you because...?" Chris asked.
"It doesn't...," Chase admitted.
"Hold on," Heather told the team. "I'll go look for him."
"Eva, make these freaks let us go!" Gwen said as the scene flashed to Team Warrior, three of whom had apparently spent the night tied to the tree.
In response, she was met by two spears getting thrust into her face and some more angry words from the two Zing-Zings holding them all captive.
"Why'd you have to do that for?" Eva told her team. "I've been trying to keep these Zings satisfied so they don't sacrifice you guys, and you may have just messed it up!"
"They're not gonna sacrifice anybody," Jasmine said, giving the two Zing-Zings a stern and unamused look. "I can understand enough of what they're saying to know that they understand English, and that they know who we are. They aren't real Zing-Zings. They're just punking us!"
Topher and Gwen all gave her stunned looks, as did Eva. The two masked men shared a look, then dropped their spears and began untying the ropes binding Team Warrior to the massive tree trunk.
"Sorry, guys," one of them said in clear Spanish-accented English as the ropes fell away from the utterly shocked contestants. "We just couldn't help ourselves."
"Rodney!" Heather called out as the scene flashed to her walking through the jungle. "Where are you?"
She bumped into a large cocoon tied up above her, and after it muffled something, she ripped the front of the cocoon off to find out that Rodney was inside. "Heather!" he gasped after seeing her.
"What happened to you?" Heather asked with worry.
"The caterpillars dragged me away and put me here!" Rodney responded.
"How did that even happen?" Heather questioned. "You're too big to carry. No offense."
"The caterpillars got more to take me away," Rodney explained. "You fellers were sleeping, so you never knew what was going on."
"We thought you went ahead of us," Heather said. "I came back to rescue you. We have to finish the challenge."
"Is that why you're rescuing me?" Rodney raised an eyebrow. "So we can win?"
"Chris said we all have to be together, but I'm doing this out of the kindness of my heart," Heather promised before ripping the cocoon out, making Rodney plummet to the floor.
"Thanks," Rodney said gratefully and got up.
"No problem," Heather said before launching a hug onto Rodney. "I don't know what I would do if you were gone forever," she pretended to feel sad. "You're the strongest, most bravest person I've ever met, not to mention cute."
"Cute?" Rodney repeated in surprise.
"Uh, let's just go back to our team and not keep them waiting any longer," Heather said.
"Okay then," Rodney agreed and walked ahead of Heather. "A girl thinks I'm cute…" he said to himself with a smile.
Behind him, however, Heather grinned at her own play. "Now that's a follower nearly locked in."
The scene cut back to Machu Picchu, where Team Super could be seen searching the ruins while half of Team Explosive waited on a log near the top of the steps with the host checking his watch nearby.
"Tick-tock tick-tock," Chris said as the camera zoomed in on him, then panned over to the two as they looked around impatiently. The sound of footsteps got their attention, and they raised their heads to look as Rodney and Heather finally arrived on the mountaintop.
"Now that we're regrouped, let's find that treasure!" Brick said and ran into the ruins with the rest of his team.
Calmly, Chris moved to take their place on the log and even whistled to himself as he did. A couple grunts of effort came from off-screen, then Rodney exclaimed "I found it!"
"This is weird," Chris commented, the camera zooming in on him as he stood back up and walked over to see what had happened.
The shot cut to Rodney wrestling with some sort of crystal-topped stone pillar that was stuck into the ground. "Hey Rodney," Chris asked as he walked over, "what'cha doin'?"
"I'm getting that olden treasure like you said!" Rodney explained.
"We're looking for a golden treasure," Chase interjected, the camera panning left a little to show him watching nearby. "Not an olden one!"
"Chase is right," Chris said with a nod as the shot panned back to him.
"We found it!" Anne Maria exclaimed as she and her teammates ran up. The Jersey girl was holding a melon-sized and vaguely head-shaped golden idol, the sight of which caused the host to grin.
"Speaking of, looks like Team Super found it! They win the challenge!" The music took a triumphant turn following his announcement, and the members of the winning team cheered.
"Shoot. Then what's this thing?" Rodney said with a frown, turning his attention back to the strange pillar. He finally pulled it out of the ground, and the shot cut up to the sky. A hollow sound was accompanied by sparkling noises as a cloud moved away from the sun, and the rays struck the pyramidal crystal that topped Rodney's pillar.
Rodney gasped as it began to radiate teal light and emit a sort of reverberating wubbing, and the music became ominous and tense as the whole mountain began to shake. Stone began to crack and crumble and fall, and with a cry of "RUN!" from Chris, they gathered and fled for their lives.
The ruins collapsed behind them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Wait, so if you guys aren't Zing-Zings," Eva asked in confusion as the shot flashed back to Team Warrior, "then who are you?"
"They look like local Peruvian teenagers to me," came the surly voice of Chef Hatchet as he walked out of the nearby bushes with a cleaver in hand.
"But what about the costumes, and the masks?" Gwen asked.
The two locals looked at each other, shrugged, and took off their masks. "We're actors," one said, holding up a flier with an image of a castle turret on it.
"We play the porters in this year's 'Shakespeare in the Jungle' production of 'Macbeth'," the other added.
"You stumbled on us while we were practicing, so we decided to mess with you guys a little," the first said. "Sorry for the trouble."
As he and his companion walked away, Eva yelled "You better be!"
A few moments passed in silence as the team regrouped, then Chef said "By the way, you lost the challenge. Y'all gotta vote someone off."
"No need to convince me who to vote for," Gwen said with a look towards Eva. "It's pretty obvious!"
"And why are you looking at me like that?" Eva countered.
"You get easily annoyed at us for placing second twice, you've already won a season, and you're slowly starting to regress back to being your old uncaring self!" Gwen counter-countered. "Connect the dots."
Eva tried to retort, but she couldn't get the words out as the camera zoomed out to show the rest of Team Warrior giving her glares, to which the girl groaned.
The scene flashed to a shot of the jumbo jet flying away from the camera, towards the sun and over a mountain range. The camera then flashed inside to a plate of cookies, and then zoomed back. The cookies were being carried by a white woman, a flight attendant by her uniform, who brought them to the lounging members of Team Super.
"I am loving first class," Caleb said as he grabbed a cookie and stuffed it into his mouth.
"We deserve it after our pathetic loss last time," Scott said, taking a cookie for himself before the flight attendant turned and walked away.
"Hey guys," Anne Maria spoke up, standing in the aisle next to the couch her teammates were sitting on, "would it be okay if-"
"You took some food to Topher?" Sam finished, flashing a warm smile.
"Go right ahead," Sky allowed. "We're both in stable relationships, and we have to keep our loved ones happy."
"Thanks!" Anne Maria told them with a grin.
"Well," Scott said as he stood up, "I'm gonna go watch Team Warrior toss a loser off the plane."
Confessional: Scott
"Fingers crossed that Eva gets the heave ho today," Scott confessed in the restroom. "She's my biggest rival, and I'm pretty sure that her teammates won't want her around after how high strung she's been. I know our grudge is getting old, but we don't know how to be friends with each other."
Confessional Ends
The four members of Team Warrior were already seated nervously in the elimination room, and the host was standing before them with a tray of season's symbols of safety.
"I have three barf bags full of the finest peanuts never allowed to be handed out on commercial planes, due to allergy-induced lawsuits," Chris said, ending with a short wink at the camera. "Time to vote who gets 'em!"
"Okay, the votes are in," Chris told the four as the scene flashed back to the elimination room. "Topher, Gwen, you're safe," he said, tossing the first two bags to the fanboy and goth.
"Eva and Jasmine, however, you two are on the chopping block," Chris told Eva and Jasmine, who both looked suddenly nervous. "Eva, you've been acting like a winner-induced stick in the mud, and Jasmine, you sent your team in the wrong direction. So, the last bag goes to...," the music became tenser as he paused, and both muscle woman and Aussie became even more anxious. "Jasmine," the host finally announced, tossing the final barf bag to the tall girl.
Eva stood up sadly. "It's okay, guys," she told them. "I knew you'd all vote for me, and I undoubtedly deserved it."
"It's not like we don't like you or anything," Jasmine comforted. "We just felt like eliminating you now would be best for you."
"I understand, and I really am sorry about how I've been acting as of late," Eva told them. "I promise you all that I'll be-"
"We're outta time!" Chris interrupted with a smile, shoving a parachute pack into Eva's arms then pushing her over to the open doorway. "So long and good night!" He left her there balanced precariously, and walked away with a smile on his face.
"Don't let those other teams break you guys apart!" Eva demanded her former teammates, and then the wind caught her from behind and pulled her away and out into the open air.
"How will Team Warrior fare as a trio, and a troubled one at that," Chris asked, the usual ending music starting up as the shot cut back to him, the remaining three members of the team in question giving the host a glare that he shrugged off effortlessly. "Find out next time, on Total!" the shot cut outside to the image of Chris on the plane's tail fin as the first blaring note played. "Drama!" the shot pulled back just enough to show the edge of the wings. "Woooorrrrlllddd~ Tooouuurrrr~!" The final shot showed the plane flying off to the left, and nothing more.

(Bonus Clip)
"I guess I let my drive to win first place get the better of me," Eva said as she floated downwards courtesy of her open parachute. "Scratch that! I know I let it get the better of me. I'm still not a big fan of ranking second, but now that I really think about it, that's something I shouldn't get worked up over considering my development in the first season."
"I didn't make it very far again, but I'm still happy with my season one success, and nothing can take that away from me." She glanced downwards, and the shot cut outward to show her drifting towards the zipline.
"I'm not happy about this," she commented as her parachute slowly landed on top of the zipline, leaving her stuck. "Just great!" she grumbled.
