WARNING: If you are likely confused about events that have happened in this fanfiction that didn't happen in canon, that's likely because this isn't following canon, but another story I made called 'Oh Rhonda!'. So, be wary of this fact when you read the story! If you haven't read the first 'Oh Rhonda!', please do so if possible so that you can understand what's going on. Otherwise, continue to enjoy the story!
So... it's been ten years since I wrote the very first chapter of 'Oh Rhonda!', hasn't it? Well, I wanted to do something special for that particular day, and, even though it's a bit early, I decided... why not write up the first chapter of Arc 10 and show it off to you guys? Who knows, maybe Arc 10 will become its own thing, right? Besides that, though, yeah, I'm starting Arc 10 even though Arc 9 IS still in the works. I promise I will get back to Arc 9 soon enough, but for now, I want to get started on Arc 10, because there are a load of ideas I want to get out there! That said, let's return to my version of Hillwood! Let's see how everyone is handling themselves!
It was another glorious afternoon in the streets of Hillwood as Olga was sitting down at the curb of the street, humming to herself gently as she was looking up, eagerly, as if awaiting something. As she paused for a brief moment, she looked over at her watch and gave a sigh.
"Guess I should have expected this..." Olga sighed as she put her arm to the side, before hearing some footsteps. The older blonde's eyes lit up as she turned, "Hey- oh, hello, Curly, Pudding, Bucky."
Indeed, Curly Gammelthorpe, alongside his two friends who were wearing black hoods, but had their faces shown for the time being gave a wave to the older girl as Bucky, the figure with the black cat head with a lone buck tooth, smirked, "Ice cream come by yet?"
"Not yet, Bucky." Olga sighed. "Still waiting on the Jolly Olly Man right now."
"...you know, it's weird, na no da." Pudding Fong, the girl of the group, her blonde hair glistening a bit. "We always stop by for ice cream now, and yet we don't even acknowledge this guy anymore."
"Yeah, Jolly's a jerk." Curly rolled his eyes from underneath his sunglasses. "But for what it's worth, the ice cream is delicious."
The three characters gave small laughs as Olga gave a small chuckle, looking back towards the evening sky. She smiled as she reflected back on the last couple of months that had happened.
For starters, there was the matter of Nick Vermicelli, who had been residing in the Sunset Arms for a while, and it looked to be as if he was trying to attempt to be friends with everyone, Olga in particular, only for Arnold and Rhonda to rightly suspect that he was up to no good. Indeed, as Olga quickly learned from Arnold, Rhonda, and a second confirmation from Curly and his weird friends from Craz-E, that Nick Vermecelli was actually her father's employer, who was trying to trick her into forgiving her father to promote his failing beeper company. For Olga, this was the last straw as she not only cut ties with her father for good, but her boyfriend, Kevin AKA Monkeyman, managed to take Nick in for illegal gambling debts.
Needless to say, things have been a bit quieter without Nick and his sleazy trickster vibes... although that didn't mean a lot when it came to how the boarding house had some changes in residency... for one thing, Oskar took things one step too far and the next thing he knew, he found himself being dragged into police custody, with Suzie, finally having enough of Oskar's lazy ways, divorced him. Phil and Gertie, more than happy to get rid of Oskar, even gave the man an eviction notice on the way out. As for Suzie herself, since she didn't mind the other boarders, she decided to stick around for a while, if only because it was nice to talk to Olga or the other residents of the house. She even made good friends with Miles and Stella, and thanks to her business prowess, managed to help their new business take off.
As for the kids... Arnold and Rhonda have been a lot more closer than ever, sharing a few butterfly kisses with each other from time to time, going out on various dates and the like. Even having a quadruple date with their friends, Tucker and Nadine, Gerald and Phoebe, and Lorenzo and Lila, with various trips to Dinoland, baseball games, fancy restaurants... they even have their little get-togethers in Gerald & Phoebe Field. Needless to say, all eight friends, each consisting of four couples, have hardly changed since their time together.
In terms of Olga's friends, there have been a couple of changes as well for her. For one thing, Carver had taken in a mysterious guest that he said he met while he was participating in a reality show outside Hillwood. As of current, they haven't been properly introduced yet, but Carver is slowly, but surely getting her used to the new world before her. Also, as Olga noted, he was currently dating the girl, which she was pretty proud of him in a way. To think, Carver had come a long way since being created just to have a third friend for Solara in order to manipulate Olga to try to get to the sister she never had in this universe...
That was another thing, she thought, the idea of a multiverse, and how different things were... even now, she was having trouble wrapping her mind around it, but for Curly, it made sense. Still, she hoped that Helga was still enjoying herself back in her own universe. From what she had learned, she probably is.
Curly looked up towards Olga in curiosity as he noted her thoughts. "Still thinking of her?"
"Sort of. I'm also thinking about the possibilities of multiverses and HOW each world is different from one another... I guess you can say I kind of miss her..." Olga paused. "At the same time, though... I can't help but think back to what Marcie said."
"Oh?" Curly paused as he turned towards her.
"Yeah... back at the ruined temple in the Green-Eyes... the one that showed our history and what-not... when Solara... blasted me to bits and Marcie brought me back to life... well... even though my mum had the tragedy with what happened years ago and the miscarriage, Marcie said there might be a chance to make up for Helga's... absence." Olga sighed. "The problem is I don't know how to commit to it. I spent so long in trying to get my life back together, taking care of Rhonda, writing up my novel, teaching and whatnot... I honestly never found time to talk to Kevin... Monkeyman, even though we've dated."
Curly, Pudding and Bucky looked at each other with a knowing expression as Curly raised an eyebrow, "So, you're saying..."
"...I haven't really talked to Monkeyman about it, and I know he's been a lot busy with other things... and honestly, I don't blame him... but whenever we DO have time for dates, we either have a lot of fun or we just sit down to a fancy dinner..." Olga blushed. "Honestly, I want to be with him for a long time, but... I think I'm a little afraid of commitment. I mean, I do want my own kid to take care of someday... and I mean from natural causes. I love Rhonda and she's been a great daughter to me, but..."
"Ahhhh..." Pudding smiled. "The biological clock is now beginning to tick inside?"
"...I'm surprised you're old enough to know what that is." Olga lowered her eyelids.
"We go through a lot of loops. Needless to say, we know a lot about a lot." Bucky gave a sigh.
"Right..." Olga sighed before hearing the sound of the ice cream truck. "Oh, there's the ice cream truck now!"
As the four got up, Curly gave a chuckle as she looked up. "You know, I heard some rumors about a paradox that happens if you run out on the road and get hit by that very ice cream truck."
Olga paused as she lowered her eyelids. "Another loop memory?"
"Sort of. I wasn't exactly there for it, but I think I heard a Helga from that universe mention it a couple of times. I may or may not have overheard it through the grapevine." Curly waved his hands around in an 'eh'-ish format.
With that, Olga raised her hand as the ice cream truck came to a stop. The Jolly Olly Man looked out and gave a small frown, before trying to give a fake smile. "Yes?"
Olga, rolling her eyes at the slight rude tone the man conveyed, just pulled out a couple twenties and put them on the table. "A box of your finest Jolly Fudgsicles, please?"
The Jolly Olly Man raised an eyebrow at the two twenties, looking rather surprised, before shrugging. "Eh. I'm not complaining. Money's money."
With that, the rude ice cream man took the money and pulled out a large brown box with a chocolate fudge bar in the center. "Here you go. What's the big pay day for?"
"Oh, these are for the kids down at PS 118. They're doing a talent show this week and I'm in charge of catering for the event... in this case, handing out ice cream bars to the students, both performing and watching." Olga said as she picked up the box.
"Is that right?" The Jolly Olly Man asked, before giving a scoff. "Well, good luck carrying this stuff, 'cause I have places to be!"
As Olga managed to lift the box up, she felt the weight of the box as she gave a grunt, backing up a bit before putting it down. As she waved her arms a bit to shake off the tired muscles, the ice cream truck pulled away as Pudding approached. "Do you need any help?"
"Y-yes, that would be great." Olga said as Pudding and Curly picked up the boxes.
"Hope that means we'll get double the fudgesickles for this!" Curly grinned.
"Don't hold your breath, Curly. ONE fudgesickle per person, that's the rule." Olga frowned. "All right, hopefully I'll be in time for the opening number!"
Meanwhile, in the PS 118 lounge, every student and accompanying parent had gathered as they were looking towards the stage in curiosity, each of them excited over what was going on, when all went silent as Mr. Simmons walked out on stage.
"Hello, everybody, and welcome, one and all, to the first annual PS 118 talent show, which I hope will be a staple tradition. Our wonderful students have prepared something very special to show off, and hopefully, you'll all enjoy what everyone brings. To open up our show, we'll bring in... Arnold Shortman and Rhonda Wellington Lloyd, performing together a nice little routine they have been preparing for sometime! Ladies and gentlemen, Arnold and Rhonda!'
Everybody started to applaud as the stage curtain opened up as a cute black haired girl wearing a red shirt and black pants came out, wearing her red tap shoes as she gave a dramatic sigh. "My stars and garters, what a beautiful morning it is!" She then gave a dramatic sigh as she looked up. "But yet, I feel a little gloom and doom for I have naught but any talent at all..."
It was then some drumming was heard from the accompanying band as the familiar blonde haired football headed boy came in, wearing shades on his head, alongside his green shirt with a red plaid shirt underneath, blue jeans and black shoes as he gave a small wink to the audience. He then walked over to Rhonda and gave a cough. "Why, Rhonda, whatever's the matter?"
"Oh, my dear Arnold, the day is so beautiful, but I don't feel any joy or rhythm within me..." Rhonda sighed as she looked down, doing her best to act in character as she stayed 'depressed'.
Arnold gave a smile as he pulled her head up. "What you need is a little pick-me-up. Luckily, I think a little dancing can cheer you up."
"Dancing?" Rhonda asked as she looked in curiosity.
"But of course, my dear." Arnold smiled as he pointed to the band. Mr. Simmons, the conductor of the band, nodded as he held up his conducting stick to ready the band to play the music... which, for oldies, would be instantly recognized as "What A Feeling" from the movie "Flashdance". Arnold started singing the first verse to the words as he offered his hand to Rhonda, who took it as the two started to dance slow to the music. And, as the tempo started to pick up, both Arnold and Rhonda started to separate as Rhonda seemed to be enjoying the dance altogther.
And as Rhonda was beginning to sing the chorus of the song, Olga came in, with Pudding and Curly carrying the box of fudgesicles inside, she looked over to Arnold and Rhonda as they seemed to be having the best time of their lives out there, with Rhonda and Arnold singing together.
"Awwww, they're so sweet together." Olga smiled as her eyes widened cutely and put her hands together, putting them on her head as she noted the music keeping the same tempo as both Arnold and Rhonda were dancing separately with their own styles, with breakdancing including. Then, Rhonda came forward and jumped right onto Arnold's hands as he held her up high above his head, as Arnold spun him and her around, before gently putting her down.
"Yeah... cute..." Curly scoffed a bit before putting the fudgesicles into a cooler nearby.
As the song went into its conclusion, the audience began to applaud as the boy and girl looked towards the audience with smiles and gave their respective bow and curtsy before going offstage, holding hands.
Rhonda laughed as the two went offstage and looked at her boyfriend. "You did great out there, sweetie!"
"Thanks. I think you really nailed the opening." Arnold smiled.
"Awww..." Rhonda giggled as she leaned over and kissed the boy on the lips, causing Arnold to blush heavily. "What can I say, Arnold, I love the show business. It's in my blood... and it could very well be in your blood, too."
"Maybe, but I think I'm okay with just sticking with my home roots for now..." Arnold shrugged.
"You say that now... but I can see you and I on the cover of People Magazine! Arnold and Rhonda, the hottest couple to hit the silver screen!" Rhonda giggled.
Arnold laughed a bit as he put a hand over Rhonda's hair and patted it. "Maybe it'll happen someday... who knows?"
The former rich girl giggled before noting Olga near the catering stand, with Curly and his weird friends helping them set up. "Oh! Seems Olga already got the fudgesicles! Shall we see if the catering stand is open, doll?"
"Why not?" Arnold said with a cute flirting look as the two approached the table.
As they walked by, little did they know was that not too far from them, a man in a grey suit wearing similar shades was watching over the two kids in curiosity, giving a small smile to himself.
"Hmmm... I think I may have just found the perfect pair!"
