Hey!
Fem!Itachi, Older Naruto, Alive Obito/Rin, Large AU!
will be swearing and stuff, so fair warning here.
This is AU, pretty large. And a genderbent Itachi. Naruto is older than canon. Itachi is genderbent but that won't be like a main focus, this isn't a romance first fic, it's a more story, action one. Romance will be a major subplot and be important, but this will not be a fluff slice of life romance lol. Thanks for reading!
Has swearing, probably not super vulgar but maybe a bit descriptive scenes during fights, so blood etc.
Thanks so much for reading!
Chapter 1: War Over: Shadow of Retribution Arc. Part 1.
3 Years Earlier
Obito extended his arm as far as it would reach, straining with all his might.
"Kakashi!" he and Rin called out, their voices filled with worry and concern.
Boom! The large rock hit the ground. Under it, one of the leaf's finest prodigy lay, half of his tiny body crushed by the rock.
"Kakashi!" Obito rushed over, his eyes welling with tears immediately.
"Obito.." Kakashi said weakly, his consciousness already fading. "I-I get to see my parents again, It's okay." He offered a weak half eye smile.
"Kakashi!" Rin rushed over to his side, tears falling out rapidly. "I can h-heal y-you!" She tried her absolute hardest, to absolutely zero avail.
"Rin.." He put his hand up, signaling her to stop trying.
"It's okay.."
His visible eye moved to the crying Uchiha.
"I'm so sure Obito will protect you. Forever. He's strong."
He took a weak breath, feeling a strange sense of calm wash over him. In his final moments, a quiet peace settled in.
He was okay with going.
"Rin, Obito.."
"Thank you. For being my teammates. Don't forget me.. take my stuff.. cherish it, and keep me deep in your hearts." He died right there, a weak little eye smile on his face.
Obito grabbed that special kunai from Kakashi, his sword and his right glove.
"I-I never even got to give you a gift… I'm sorry Kakashi." Obito looked down in shame, almost forgetting what their situation was.
"W-We'll always r-remember you, Kakashi.." Obito said, the tiredness and weakness evident in his voice. He was on the verge of passing out, his body was exhausted, he just witnessed his teammate die. But he was strong. He had to protect Rin.
He took her hand, pulling her as they hurried out of the cave.
As soon as they stepped outside, a stabbing pain flared behind his eyes. He stumbled, grabbing at his face, a cry of pain escaping him as the agony hit him full force.
"Ahhh!" His iris flared red, 3 circles dancing around.
He dropped down to his knee, still gripping at his eyes.
"Obito!" Rin ran to his side, stopping as she saw the hidden stone shinobi.
The stone shinobi laughed, oblivious to the fact the boy had awakened a more advanced Sharingan.
"What do we have here..?" the shinobi smirked, his cocky tone showing his fear level for the boy was low.
"Rin. Stay back." He put his hand in front of her, to stop her from moving.
He looked up, shouting a war cry as he charged the shinobi, his movements quicker and sharper than they'd ever been.
(Slightly Graphic Warning?)
Before the man could even react, Obito's kunai plunged into his chest, striking straight at his heart. "Ahhh!" Obito yelled out again, plunging into his chest another time.
The shinobi fell back, falling straight onto his back, lifeless within seconds of the kunai connecting.
Obito sat atop the shinobi's stomach, repeating his action
"Obito…" Rin whispered, her eyes wide in shock, both from Obito's actions, his skill and speed, and his gruesome act.
"Ahhhh!" Obito yelled out weakly, his voice cracking as he lifted his kunai to drive it through the shinobi's lifeless chest again.
(Graphic Over)
"Obito…!" Rin ran over, grabbing the kunai and hugging Obito from behind.
"I'm scared.. Obito!" She cried into his back.
Obito cried on the lifeless shinobi's red chest.
Obito spoke to Rin.
"I-I…"
"M-Minato Sensei.. We need you.." He threw the special Kunai he had taken from Kakashi's bodies at the tree beside them and passed out, Rin passed out hugging and crying on his back.
(-)
Rin awoke first, wiping off her sleep filled eyes.
"Minato-sensei…" She weakly offered a small smile, the tone in her voice was more evidence of her fatigue.
Her eyes were still flooded with tears.
"Rin." Minato said, stoically. "Wake Obito up. Make sure he's okay." His face was stoic, his voice was weak.
Rin nodded, strutting over to Obito, gently shaking him awake. "Obito.." she bit her bottom lip, shaking him, she didn't want to wake him up, she knew he needed all the rest, he was exhausted. His eyes probably burnt.
She stared at his chest, rising and falling as he took deep sleeping breaths.
She sat down next to him, looking towards Minato for silent permission to let him keep sleeping, receiving a nod.
Present!
Kuro Shigure held the cracked helmet of his fallen comrade, the last reminder of the team that had been by his side since the start of the war.
A fellow Iwa shinobi approached, panting, a fresh scroll clutched tightly in his fist.
"Kuro! You… you haven't heard?" The man's voice was soft, a mix of exhaustion and disbelief. "It's over. Konoha and Iwa… we've signed a treaty. The peace talks they've agreed to end it!"
That's why he hadn't seen any Konoha shinobi.
Kuro didn't respond at first. He only stared at the helmet, bloodied and dented, his knuckles whitening around it. The word peace replayed in his mind, it almost sounded like a joke.
"Minato… they named him Hokage… he led the charge for peace," the shinobi continued, as if peace were a blessing and not a slap in the face. "They're calling him a hero. The Yondaime Hokage! The Yellow Flash! the one who-"
"Hero?" Kuro said, finally turning to face the man, his eyes burning with hatred. "Minato… the one who slaughtered my entire squad is a hero? He butchers us on the battlefield and gets praised for it?"
His hand tightened around the helmet until the cracked edges dug into his skin, drawing blood.
The Iwa shinobi took a step back, nervous. "I-It's over, Shigure. We've lost too many already. There's no point in fighting anymore. We need to rebuild. Let go of the past, like the rest of us."
Kuro wasn't listening. His vision swayed, rage consumed him alive. Let go of the past? How could he? The past was all that was left. Minato, the man who had torn his comrades from him.
And his village? His village was bending the knee to that same man.
Kuro's voice came out in a low, deep tone. "Rebuild? Rebuild on what? Graves?" He pushed past the shinobi, leaving him there, marching towards the village.
(-)
The moon hung low in the sky as Kuro stood at the edge of Iwagakure, looking back at the village that had once been his home. His mind was made up.
War had been his life. It had taken everything from him, and now, they wanted him to be okay in a world where his enemy reigned victorious. A world where they celebrated the death of his comrades, and where Minato Namikaze, the Yellow Flash, was a hero?
He clenched his fists. 'Never happening.'
He turned, stepping onto the path of the rogue. From that moment, Kuro was no longer a shinobi of Iwagakure.
In his heart, he swore that Minato would pay for what he did.
(-)
Kuro walked around in the shadows of a small village on the outskirts of the Land of Fire. His cloak was old and ripped up.
His once prized Iwa headband now slashed through and hidden in his pack.
'I'll never kill that scum without progress. And he's strong! I hate it!' It all felt like a cycle as he entered the inn.
The innkeeper had been drunk, speaking too loudly to his customers about his travels to the capital after meeting with his cousin.
"Yeah! My cousin's close to the new Hokage and shit!"
He burped and continued.
"His son actually entered the academy some time back!"
Kuro's heart stopped for a moment. A son. Minato… has a son.
An evil grin occupied Kuro's face as he approached the drunk inn keeper, dropping 500 ryo on the counter, double the amount for a room.
"The great fourth has a kid, huh?" He asked, silently egging the innkeeper to continue.
"He does! I think the boy's name is N.." His drunken mind thought for a moment. 'Naru… something? Nariko? Naruko? Minato Jr? Mini flash kid? No.. that's not right…
Naruto!'
"Naruto! The boy's name was Naruto! I heard he was progressing well!" The innkeeper was more than ecstatic as he carefully took the ryo, thinking he was slick and stealing from Kuro.
"Right. That's nice to know."
He walked away, his long black hair would've swayed around, had the bandana around his hair not been there.
He unlocked the room with the key he was handed before sitting down on the bed, his face lit up and his heart racing in excitement.
Kuro knew he gave the 500, purely on purpose, he wanted all the information possible. 'I may be unmatched in fighting when it comes to you, Minato. But your son will be gone soon.
He stared into the tall mirror, his black eyes and scarred cheek just more of a reminder of what Minato had done.
Five months into the academy for Naruto.
-
Kushina's pregnancy was five months along, her little baby bump growing day by day. She just learnt she was having a little baby girl.
Naruto sat on a chair around the dinner table, his eyes glued to the tv playing a new documentary about the first ninja war.
She smiled at the site, placing his dinner on the table and sitting.
"Hashirama Senju, our village's first Hokage, had formed the village with Madara Uchiha." The fairly blurry but understandable voice said.
"Interesting?" She asked him.
"Not really honestly," He was honest, his head turning to her and smiling.
She chuckled in response.
"All the villages were unstable, leading to tension and fights for power." The static voice continued.
"Then why watch it?" She stabbed her fork into the grilled teriyaki and brought it to her mouth.
"Some sort of history test tomorrow, Kaito-Sensei gave us the tapes," He also took a bite of his chicken.
"He's the only teacher I like, and I have history class with Itachi. It's really not bad."
He took a sip of water, having already swallowed his chicken before she did hers.
She swallowed, taking a sip of her water and smiling.
"I knew that Nara." She said before continuing, her smile still plastered on her face. "He was on my Genin team actually,"
"He was a bit older than me - well so was Aiko," She backtracked to Kaito. "All the Nara's are so lazy, he was smart. He probably would have graduated before he did if he wasn't so lazy,"
She chuckled as she remembered all the nostalgia.
"Him and Aiko were such flirts,"
Naruto smiled at his mother while eating, he couldn't remember much from his earlier years but he knew his mom was always stressed, probably because of the war, it was nice to see her so happy.
"I remember one time she accidentally put a Genjutsu on the enemy, she was strong. If I remember correctly she was so nervous during the fight that her Chakra flared up and put the opponent under a genjutsu, it was her clan's specialty after all,"
She ate a bit of her steamed rice.
"I'll ask him how she's doing next time I drop you off," she noted out loud.
"When's dad getting home? If he is today," Naruto asked after a bit of comfortable and nice silence.
"I don't think he's coming home today," Kushina frowned softly.
Naruto bit his lip and nodded. It was disappointing, but he understood his dad's job.
"It's still early, you can go out and train if you'd like." Kushina suggested to Naruto.
She added before he asked. "Yes, at Itachi's.. if Mikoto says it's okay."
"Yay!" Naruto said, Mikoto never said no to Naruto.
"Speaking of Itachi, that little Uchiha's fifth birthday is really soon, right?"
Naruto nodded in response, his fifth birthday had passed a couple months ago, April 9th.
She'd given him a gift,
Well, her parents had likely bought it.
the little ring he always wore, a cute little mixture of the Uzumaki clan emblem and Namikaze clan emblem. Showing off Naruto's mixed heritage.
Naruto's attire of a t-shirt and shorts with evidence that the blazing summer was here, June 10th slowly approached.
"What should we get her?" Kushina asked Naruto as she finished her rice.
"Uhhhh," He thought for a moment.
"A necklace with the Uchiha emblem sounds good!"
"Necklace with the Uchiha emblem sounds good!"
"Come at me, both of you, at the same time!"
Naruto looked towards Itachi and nodded, a smile on Naruto's face.
"Let's go."
Naruto charged after Shisui, his moments fast for his small five year old body.
"Impressive, but still not quite there!" Shisui dodged all the punches and kicks, not without effort, however. Naruto was improving day by day.
"Fire Style: Fireball!" Itachi leapt in the air and shot a fireball at Shisui, Naruto heard the cue to get out of the vicinity of Shisui.
Naruto moved quickly, out of the fireballs range easily.
But so was Shisui.
Shisui sent a slower held back punch to Naruto's arms, he was able to get his block up, it still sent the boy back a bit.
Naruto threw his sparing Shuriken, almost tagging Shisui.
Another pair of Shuriken were sent his way, Itachi's this time.
"You guys are quick," Shisui said as he brought hand up to his nose, ending up behind Naruto.
He brought up his sparing Kunai to Naruto's neck, expecting a surrender, instead a gust of wind sent his hair back.
'Oh?' He thought as Naruto ended up beside his special Kunai just a feet feet away.
"That was… fast?" Shisui said, half asking Naruto what the hell just happened.
Itachi stood, eyebrows raised in both curiosity and mild surprise. She was impressed with the speed, faster than Shisui's body flicker.
"It's a jutsu my dad is teaching me, I still don't have it down right yet, I can't travel very far, and I'm not as fast as him at all," Naruto smirked and continued. "It's called the Flying Raijin."
Itachi thought back, 'flying raijin? Never heard of it.'
"I've never heard of it, it's fast and good though." Shisui said, looking at Itachi.
"Itachi?" He asked, receiving a shake of the head.
"No, they never taught us anything about a flying raijin." She said, as she stopped moving her head.
"Well, let's continue?" He asked the group, still impressed.
He received nods from the two younger kids.
"Go!" He yelled out, now turning the tone up a bit, activating his sharingan, only two tomoe appeared in his red iris.
After many many minutes of fighting, the smaller kids tired down and slowed down just a bit.
But Shisui was faster now, able to avoid their attacks with relative ease.
Itachi tracked his movements, her eyes barely able to keep up, her onyx iris moving at impressive speeds.
She threw her Shuriken, tagging Shisui with one, just nicking him, not even sure if it would've drawn blood.
'He's so fast.' Her head turned to her teammate.
Naruto was just as lost, if not more.
Before they knew it, a hand was at each of their necks.
"It's over." Shisui said, as both of the two at the kid's necks disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Naruto and Itachi took huffs and puffs, panting for the thick air.
"You guys are strong," Shisui spoke. He knew he'd win, but with such difficulty? No. "Keep improving you two." He moved his head down to the little dock, watching the little waves in the water.
"Itachi." Shisui spoke, his voice calm and relaxed.
"Mhm?" The young girl hummed out in question.
"I'm gonna try to teach you the body flicker, okay? I figured Naruto was already fast enough, he doesn't need it."
"Naruto, work on that jutsu."
(-)
"You're not really mentally there, Obito." Minato spoke to the fifteen year old Jounin, gazing over him. The deaths he witnessed in the battlefield still stung, his mangekyo just a reminder of what he'd witnessed.
The only reason he was actually still sane was Rin Nohara, they leaned on each other for support.
Obito sighed, sitting on the chair across from Minato.
"I know, but being on this break is driving me crazy."
Minato nodded in response, speaking. "I understand, but I can't have you go out and die, you know? That would mess with the entire village, think about Rin. Me, Kushina, Naruto." Minato sighed and continued.
"… I'll think about it. Go spend time with Rin or something, okay?"
Obito was a bit embarrassed by Minato's casual mention of him hanging out with Rin, but didn't pay much mind to it.
"Yup.." He got up, leaving the room.
Minato sighed once more, grabbing the papers from under his desk, muttering to himself. "Poor kid."
"Maybe I'll promote him to Jounin and ease him back into missions." Sigh.
(-)
Obito knocked on the door he was all too familiar with at this point, waiting for Rin to open it.
She slowly opened the door, looking up, her hair was still barely down to her chin, still swaying out to the sides, the middle part still there.
"Hi, Obito!" She smiled weakly, wrapping her arms around his neck, hugging him, only reaching his chin, receiving a little blush.
"Hey," He took a deep breath and looked fully down at her. "Do you wanna take a walk…? And maybe get dinner?" He asked her, and she could never say no to him.
"Mhm! But I have an idea," She held the hug just a little longer than normal before she stepped back and looked up into his eyes.
"We should train instead, .." She let a bit of silence linger before continuing. "Me and you have both been falling behind, it's time we start training again, right?"
Obito nodded his head, his face taking on an accepting expression.
"Sounds good to me, makes sense." She took his hand, walking out her apartment.
"I was expecting you to knock, so I'm ready to train!" She giggled and smiled at him, rushing out of her apartment complex, heading to the training grounds.
"I brought enough weapons for me and you, don't worry, and you're wearing sparring gear regardless!" It seemed Rin was enthusiastic, she certainly must've had some sort of awakening.
"Don't worry, I won't mess up your handsome little face!" This certainly wasn't super normal. Obito would be able to get used to this fast though.
She turned back to look at him, he was a flustered and embarrassed mess.
'Cute.' They both said in their minds in unison.
(-)
"Thanks for walking me home, Obi!" She was still smiling, and she looked as beautiful as always to Obito, her ninja 'headband' wrapped around her arm instead.
"Mhm!" It seemed a part of Obito was coming back.
"Oh and you picked such a good place for dinner! Thanks for the dinner too!"
Obito smiled, his eyes closing.
"We split the bill! Don't thank me!" He chuckled as she giggled, a bit of pink touching Rin's cheeks.
She was standing at her door.
"And you're just as strong as I remember!" It had been a while since they spared, since the war ended they'd both barely done anything action wise. Obito felt slower, and definitely got tired faster. But he was still strong.
Rin was never the close combat type of fighter, instead she normally healed the shinobi fighting and supported them with throwing needles. But she certainly wasn't behind Obito by a lot.
She slowly shuffled inside her house, her parents still presumably at work.
"Thank you for today, Obito." With that, she lifted onto her tippy toes and reached up, planting a small peck kiss on his cheek, quickly shuffling to close the door, leaving a dumbfounded Obito outside the door.
Naruto tapped his pencil on his desk, awaiting the history test.
All about the second great shinobi war, 'Senju, Uchiha, Uzumaki, all villages were weak. They wanted power. Seems easy enough.' His head turned to the left, the only person he really knew in the class sat beside him.
Itachi offered him a small smile and tilted her head, her eyes shutting as she noticed his head turning over.
"Ready?" She asked, in a rare but enthusiastic expression.
"Mhm," He responded, not able to help the smile building on his face.
Kaito placed their tests on their tables, speaking. "No cheating." As if either one of them needed to.
Naruto looked down, smirking as he read over the questions. 'Oh, and I did all that studying for what? It was painfulllll!'
That's that! So yeah that's kinda the groove of the story, there will probably be time skips where we go back to the past (occasionally) and probably into the future! Honestly this was more of just an introduction to the first arcs real villain sorta, and just almost a prologue!
Love and Peace! Thanks for reading! Don't forget to review plz!
Oh and yeah this was a shorter chapter im pushing for probably 5-7k words per chapter, this one only had about 3k, just wanted to see how you guys feel about this idea
Thanks!
