I know its been a million years since I've written anything. Well surprise, surprise, for me as well, when a plot bunny hopped in my brain. Proves I've still got a few marbles rolling around up there and I didn't completely fry my brain when I attempted suicide. Twice. Yep, depression is a bitch. But she's my bitch now.

Anyway

Any recognizable characters belong to Stephenie Meyers. I dont own shit. I don't make money from this shit. so keep your catterwallering down if I don't come back to finish this for another 50 years.

I don't use a beta. It's just me and Grammarly. Any mistakes are mine. Well, Grammarly's, but I guess I have to take credit for it.

I could feel Esme fidgeting beside me. The hell? Vampires don't fidget. I feel her side-eye glances at me. Why wasn't I stopping this? Why would I let this farce of a wedding continue? But how could I? She chose him. She loves him. He's my son. I want them both to be happy.

Flashback

"I heard the Chief's daughter was here", I said as I walked toward the most intoxicating scent my olfactory senses had ever had the pleasure to behold. No, not the scent of her blood. I've long been desensitized from the smell of any human blood. It was her. Her essence. The scent that made her uniquely her.

"You must be Isabella Swan", I said, looking down at her chart to distract myself from her scent.

And then she spoke. "I prefer Bella, actually". I was a little taken aback by the richness of her voice. It was deeper than I thought it would have been for someone so petite. Yet still very feminine. There was a raspiness. Like an alto saxophone.

Then, I was brought out of my reverie by a growl. "SHE'S MINE!" Hissed Edward from the waiting room. Some of the others had joined Edward from the accident at the school. Rosalie and Emmett were now holding him back from entering the exam area. No doubt Alice and Jasper would not have come given Jasper's lack of control around human blood.

"Take him to my office, and keep him there so he doesn't expose us here," I spoke at a pitch human ears could not register.

"Too late for that," Rosalie hissed as she and Emmett wrangled the fool towards my office.

What had I been thinking to make Edward assume I wanted this slip of a human girl.

I continued with my examination of her injuries. My mind now moving my thoughts of her to the recesses of my mind, where Edward could not read them.

She was quite beautiful as humans go. Her big chocolate doe eyes. Her naturally pouty lips. Her heart-shaped face.

Again I'm taken out of my reverie. "Edward got to me so fast. I'd be dead if it wasn't for him, Dr. Cullen," she said looking me directly in the eyes.

Ah, so this is what Rosalie was referring to.

"Your boy?" Chief Swan asked. I had not even acknowledged the Chief of Police was here while I ogled his daughter. I gave a stiff nod acknowledging the Chief's question.

"Well, it seems you were very lucky he was there, Isabella. But, please, do call me Carlisle," I said as I held out both hands for her to take so that I could do a grip test.

As she placed her small hands in my much larger ones, she gasped. No doubt by the frigidness of my hands. But the warmth of hers went straight through me to my long dead heart. Which threatened to beat at that very moment. My head was spinning. If I weren't a vampire, I'd swear I was about to pass out.

End Flashback

I was interrupted from my rumination of my very first meeting of my son's soon-to-be wife by Esme's elbow poking me hard on my side.

"…speak now or forever hold you're peace," Emmett, whom I'm surprised has managed to keep this serious, said. His eyes then come up to meet mine. I turned towards Esme. Her eyes were gesturing for me to say something.

But I couldn't. I had that chance, and I let it slip through my fingers.

If I werent a coward, she and I would be standing here, getting married. Living for eternity as husband and wife. Instead, I'm resigned to watch my mate be with my son, the man she loves, live happily ever after.

I look towards the alter. The two of them make a beautiful couple. Alice, standing next to my Bella as her Matron of Honor, come out of a vision and looks at me. She imperceptibly shakes her head, no. I then look towards Jasper, who is standing up for Edward as his best man. Again, there was a slight shake of his head to the negative. I look to Rosalie. She rolls her eyes, but she gestures with a jerk of her head towards the altar.

How could I ruin her day like this? She doesn't like to be the center of attention.

Then Edward's head snaps to me. At the same time, I see Isabella's fingers slowly slip from Edward's hands.

That's when all hell broke loose.

A/N. How was it? Review and let me know. If its shit, I'll take it down.
