August 1991
Diagon Alley was quiet, the Hogwart's rush would be on them soon and many were making sure they had plenty of stock, owl's and cats were brought into one shop, while various plants and other potion ingredients went into another, piles of books flew into Flourish & Blotts, and in this buzz of activity a lone figure in black robes went unnoticed into Gringotts.
As he stood in the entrance he could smell it, the scent of earth, metal, and gold, his eyes glinted with interest, he had never seen a Goblin before as they hadn't come under his influence, they were greedy, sneaky, and above all Honest.
The Goblin named Breaksteel was going over some forms when a customer approached, Breaksteel was not a teller and was also quite old, he was also annoyed by the stupid Wizard that had walked up to the wrong place,
"You are in the wrong place, join one of the lines for the tellers," he admonished without looking up, 'CLUNK', Breaksteel looked up at the noise, the first thing he saw was a large black iron key, the second was a face he would never be able to remember and green glowing eyes.
Goblins were fun he decided, he could feel the bloodlust behind their polite mask, most of them seemed to instinctively know that they were mice staring at a dragon when they looked at him, when he met Griphook as he had asked for access to the Potter vault, he could feel it as soon as he laid eyes on the Goblin, Griphook had wronged him somehow.
Griphook led the Wizard child down to the Potter trust vault, he was disturbed, for some inexplicable reason he felt a deep fear when he looked at the child, he decided the best way to deal with the situation and when Harry entered Griphook smiled an evil smile, slammed the vault door shut, and took the cart back to the lobby, he would tell the guards that the foolish Wizard had fallen off the platform while he was opening the door, and he could then use the Potter money to further promote himself, after all mostly inactive vaults were not checked often and since he would be the one doing the checking...
As Griphook approached the head security Goblin to report the 'accident' he was motioned to follow before he could speak, he was confused but knew better than to argue, his confusion increased when he was led into Manager Ragnok's office, as the door shut behind him he glanced at the heavily armed guards eyeing him like they wanted to gut him, he then looked towards the ornate golden desk where Ragnok was just coming out of a pensive viewing.
Ragnok's eyes narrowed, "So, you locked the Potter Heir in his vault?"
Griphook almost fouled himself, "N, no Lord Ragnok, as Account Manager for the Potter vaults I would never-" he stopped as a figure walked up beside him, where had it come from?
he looked up into green glowing eyes and it spoke, "mine yes?"
Ragnok answered, "we would like to know what crimes he has committed so we can make restitution if that is possible?" Griphook looked incredulously at the figure he now recognised as Harry Potter,
A dark grin, "oh yes that won't be a problem, I will send word once I know"
"I look forward to it, he is yours now,"
Griphook went for the blade on his belt, but before he could draw it barbed wire flew out from the Wizard's robe and bound him, he was dragged into the darkness bleeding and struggling, Harry reached in and pulled the silver shortsword from inside his robes and placed it on Ragnok's desk, "far too fine a weapon for him,"
Smiling at the memory as he walked down the steps of the bank, Harry went and did his shopping, potion ingredients, a cauldron, quills and parchment, all vanished inside his robes, he then got to Flourish & Blotts and picked up the entire set of books for all the years, he then spotted a section that was not in fiction labeled 'Harry Potter' and picked up a copy of each and every book, after all it would be a good idea to know what the wizarding world thought of him.
Settling into the seat Harry thanked the waitress as she placed a massive bowl of ice cream before him, he had decided to try every flavor while other parts of him took in the contents of the Harry Potter books, although he didn't need to eat he figured it would make a pleasant distraction, and while he enjoyed the flavors the majority of his attention turned inward.
Two of his guests were getting prime treatment, Griphook was being slowly skinned alive by faceless nurses, he was surprised when he looked in on Vernon, the fat man had been deboned and led on the floor as a blob of flesh which quivered when he laughed as he saw one of his minions slowly driving a steamroller towards Vernon, apparently they had gone through all the standard services and were now improvising, he then turned his attention to the one who had a slight chance of redemption.
Petunia was scared, she had been hunted for weeks by these things, and now had been rescued by her freak of a sister who should be dead, Lily had explained that she WAS dead and had come to try and save her, she had somehow ended up in hell but was still alive and according to Lily that meant she could escape, Lily claimed that she had been in heaven but Petunia didn't believe it for a moment.
Together the sisters had gone to many places in that strange town and gathers 'freakish things' that lilly could use to let them escape, they had gathered them all and now Lily was performing a ritual to open an exit as monsters poured from the side streets towards them, Harry giggled in between bites of ice cream it was so cliche but it was working, as the horde reached them Lily finished and a portal opened she shoved Petunia through and made it halfway herself before multiple demons grabbed her,
"Tuny! help! give me your hand!" lily cried in pain,
Petunia looked around and was convinced she was free, she smirked at Lily and spat in her face, "Stay in hell where you belong you freak, if you look around hard enough you may find your freak spawn there as well,"
Lily stopped struggling and the demons stopped pulling, Lily smiled her voice growing higher as her form changed as she spoke, "Oh Tuny you were sooooo close," her hands grew into sharp claws as her body became bird-like and her mouth extended showing sharp teeth, "pity for you that you failed at the last test, well... at least I get a nice meal from it!" and 'Lily' leaped onto Petunia clawing at her and sinking her teeth into her, within moments petunia was being eaten alive.
Harry smiled, he had thought she would fail, but he had to give her a chance. After he had finished watching and eating his dessert he had processed the all the books he had purchased and now knew their contents, he now suspected that the truth about Harry Potter was known to no one in the Wizarding World, he chatted with Fortescue and some others in the alley and confirmed that everyone knows that Harry Potter lives in a castle, has only the best of everything and is being taught by the best and brightest in the world, an idea popped into his head and the more he thought about it the more amused he become.
He headed to his last stop, an old acquaintance, as he stepped into the shop filled with small boxes he waited a moment before he spoke,
"Hello silver eyes,"
