Rupert and the Maidens
It was another beautiful day in Nutwood where a particular white bear with a yellow checkered scarf, red polo, and yellow checkered trousers with white shoes was with a badger in a suit, and a Chinese dog with Chinese clothes were all taking turns flying a toy plane in the air
"That new battery of yours works great for Pong Ping," the white bear said.
"Thank you Rupert, and look at plane soar," said Pong-ping as the toy plane flew up high and did a loop-de-loop over the trees
"Nice check this out," Rupert said as he made his plane do figure-eights around the trees
"I wanna have a turn," said Bill as Rupert gave him the remote and he did a triple loop above the trees
"Easy Bill," Pong Ping said as he have to move his plane after crashing into Rupert's.
"You two okay," asked Bill as he turns towards them while the plane is still flying
"We are but Bill you do the tricks a bit too wide," Rupert said.
"I Beg your Pardon," said Bill as the Plane started falling
"Bill!" Rupert said.
He looked up to see the plane flying down into an estate where it crashed through a window
"Sorry," Bill said.
"No harm done, come on, Let's go get it back," said Rupert as they headed toward the estate
The three boys walk to the estate.
"Do you think someone lives here," asked Pong-ping looking at the estate
"I don't know," Rupert answered.
"Maybe it's filled to the brim with ghosts," said Bill as a curtain from upstairs inside the estate opened up a girl looked down from behind it and she saw Bill as she smiled and blushed
"I don't think she's a ghost," Pong-ping said.
"Who," asked Bill as the girl ran from the window in shyness
"Huh?" Rupert said as he look into the window as well.
"I thought I saw a person at one of the windows," said Pong-ping pointing at the window
"That sounds like a ghost to me," Bill said backing away.
"I'm sure it's someone who lives here, maybe they can help us get our plane back," said Rupert as he grasped the knocker and knocked on the door three times
They waited a few seconds
The door opened and a woman with short light blonde wearing a suit answered, "Hello, may I help you, young men," she said bowing her head
"I'm sorry but my friend had accidentally flown one of our toy planes into your estate," Rupert said.
"Oh so is that what this flew in the window," she asked as she got out of the toy plane
"Yes, this is it," Pong-ping said.
"You can have it back on one condition," she said
"Which is?" Bill questions
"You three have Lunch with the Ladies of the house, our mistresses who live here, do we have an agreement, what are your names," she asked as she gave the plane back to Rupert
"I'm Rupert Bear," Rupert said.
"And the two behind you," she asked pointing at both Bill and Pong-ping
"I'm Bill Badger," Bill said.
"I'm Pong-ping," he said bowing
"Come in," the woman said as she move aside.
"I'm Amara by the way, the head bodyguard for the mistresses of this house," said Amara as the three walked inside and looked around the place.
As they walk Rupert stops Bill from saying something.
"Here we are," said Amara as they are seated in chairs that looked like roses
"Thank you," Pong-ping said.
Amara clapped her hands three times as drinks like apple, orange, and fruit punch were served to the three boys Amara went to the stairs to fetch the maidens who owned the house
"Where are your mistresses?" Bill asked as he took his drink.
"Only the Mistresses live here since their parents went missing in a thunderstorm," said Amara
"Upstairs in their room, I'll fetch them, and in the meantime, please enjoy these sweets," she said also according to Amara, this place is inhabited solely by the Mistresses, as their parents vanished during a thunderstorm.
Amara went upstairs to get her mistresses.
She gently knocked on the door thrice and informed the occupants of their guests' arrival. Both of the girls chose vibrant dresses like Fushcia and dark purple with matching bows and adorned themselves with light pink and purple veils covering up their mouths.
"Mistresses, you have guests," Amara told them
"We're coming," said a voice as the door opened
Amara waited
Two lovely young girls emerged, one with striking red hair cascading down to her waist, dressed in a charming outfit featuring a rose and complemented by mary jane shoes with a strap and a buckle shaped like a rose. The second individual has dark purple hair styled with a heart-shaped ornament. They are dressed in a heart-patterned dress and wear the same long socks with mary jane shoes that have a heart-shaped buckle.
They follow Amara.
"Is he in the dining room," asked the shy girl with Purple hair Amara smiled as she knew who she was talking about and Amara nodded her head.
"Yes, he is," Amara answered
"Thank you, Amara," said the Red haired girl
"You are very welcome," Amara said with a soft smile.
Amara cleared her throat and announced the arrival before the maidens entered the dining hall.
"Now introducing Baroness Ceacalia of England, her sister Countess Sulena of France, and their friend Princess Kai-lan of China," Amara announced.
As the three girls came into the room, the girl blushed when she saw Rupert and the China girl did the same when she saw Pong-ping as they bow their heads to them
"Do you know her Pong-Ping?" Rupert asks his friend in a low tone.
"Maybe but I don't know where, " whispered Pong-ping
"This is Rupert Bear, Bill Badger, and Pong Ping," Amara introduces the boys.
"Please to meet you all, " said Cecelia as she sat next to Bill
"Likewise," Bill said.
"Please have some lunch with us too, Amara," said Sulena to her head bodyguard
"While I would like that but as those gentlemen have shown there still might be others nearby, some of which have ill intent towards you," Amara said.
"What does she mean by that," asked Rupert he was confused by that.
"While two of us are low-ranking royalties any kidnapper could get rich from kidnap even more so if they kidnap all three of us," Ceacalia answered
"That's terrible," said Bill as Kai-lan sat next to Pong-ping
"Which is why Amara going to check around the estate to ensure none are near," Kai-lan said.
"But our friends and I never heard of this so you three trust," said Rupert
"And there is a reason for it," Sulena said.
"Rupert is saying that you can trust us and besides when did you all move here, because no one has moved here in this estate as long as I remembered," said Bill
"While you're right about trusting you, as to how long ago we move into the estate we can't say," Cecelia said.
"But there must be a way to help maintain your secret and protect the maidens from any kidnapping," said Rupert as Amara rang the little lunch bell and servants served the lunch of Udon soup and Gyoza
"We have our ways," Kai-lan said.
"Also, you and your friends are nice people, including you," said Sulena blushing as she placed her hand on top of Rupert's hand
"Thank you for saying that," Rupert said with pick cheeks
"You're welcome, also it is us who wanted to thank you," said Ceacalia blushing as she placed her hand on Bill's hand
"Huh?" Bill said confused by Ceacalia's words.
"When those sneaky Foxes were scaring us with the spiders, you two saved us by tricking them into believing the ones they have are real and they ran off as scaredy cats," she replied
"But we didn't see no foxes! or spiders!" Pong-Ping said.
"The fox brothers Freddy and Ferdy, here maybe this will help," said Sulena as she and her sister got out two cloaks with hoods and two picnic baskets Rupert and Bill recognized them now
"Wait I had seen those before," Bill said.
"The foxes use their magic to disguise themselves," Kai-lan said.
"Magic?" asked Rupert as Cecealia picked up a fishcake with her chopsticks and was about to feed it to Bill while telling him to say Ah
"Yes, but these foxes have nine tails as they had lived far longer than a normal fox," Cecealia said.
"Oh," said Rupert as Amara motioned him as he nervously looked and decided to close his eyes and eat the fishcake from her chopsticks
"Since they live so long they gain magical powers," Sulena said.
"That would explain a lot," said Rupert as Sulena got a gyoza with her chopsticks and said to Rupert as she was feeding him "Ahh"
"Sorry, I'm making you uncomfortable?" Sulena asks.
"No, No Not at all, It's just out was out of curiosity," said Rupert waving his arms in nervousness
"Okay," Sulena said.
"Please say Ahh," she said holding up the gyoza to Rupert's mouth
The white bear did so.
"It's good isn't it," asked Sulena as Rupert nodded his head when Suddenly there was a loud crash and glass shattered noise coming from the kitchen
"What was that?" Bill questions.
"Sorry about that, there was a spider in the kitchen, but it got away and we accidentally smash the cups so you each will have to share these cups, " said another girl with her brown hair in a ponytail in a maids outfit while she is holding three cups of ice cream shakes with straws while looking sad while Amara gave her a secret wink for a good job and the maid bowed her head
"Thank you," Pong-Ping said.
"It's all right, Lita no harm done It was just an accident, " said Amara
"Thank you ms. Amara," Lita said.
"Your welcome," said Amara as the girls and the boys drank through both straws
"These drinks are great," Bill said.
"They are the girls' favorite ice cream drinks, Strawberries for Cacealia, Butterscotch for Sulena, and Mandarin Orange for Kai-lan," said Amara bowing her head
"I see," Rupert said
"They are also our favorite flavors too," said Bill
"What are the odds," Kai-lan said.
"But still Kai-lan, I kinda remembered seeing you, but where," asked Pong-Ping as she giggled because she secretly loves him for his confused and cute side
"It might have been at one of the Emperor's parties," Kai-lan said.
She took out her silk Chinese scarf with a family crest and showed it to Pong-ping
"This is my family's crest," Kai-lan said.
It had a dragon symbol as Pong-ping suddenly remembered who she is
"I remember now," Pong-Ping said
"Yes, I'm the Emperor's daughter Kai-lan, and we played together," she said
"Please forgive me your highness for not recognizing you," Pong-Ping said as he was about to bowl.
"No-no it was my fault for not telling you who I am, it was on me Pong-ping," said Kai-lan as she placed a small kiss on his cheek
Pong-Ping rub his cheek.
"Pleased to meet you, your highness," said Rupert as he and Bill bowed their heads
"You mean highnesses," Lita said
"Thank you and thank you for being a great friend to him, you two," she said as she hugged Pong-ping in her arms
"We try to be," Rupert said.
"No-no, you are being too modest Rupert, Father explained everything including you saving the dragons and the festival, there must be some way to ever repay you," said Kai-lan as she bowed her head
"I was just trying to help a friend," the white bear said
"But also help bring peace to all of China and save Little Yum too," she said
"I'm just happy everything turns out well," Rupert said.
"But Are you sure there is no way to repay you for your kind and noble deed," she asked as she got from her pouch all the Gold coins in it.
"if you insist," Bill said as he tried taking the pouch.
"No thank you doing the right thing is its. own reward," Rupert said stopping his friend
"I guess your right," said Kai-lan as Caecealia puffed up her cheeks when she got pouty as she wrapped her arms around Bill's arm tightly
"You don't see many honorable young men these days," Amara said.
"Bill, why don't we swing on my swing together," she said as she started dragging poor Bill to her favorite playroom
"You have a swing inside?" Bill questioned as he was dragged.
"Of course silly, it'll be like flying in the sky," she said happily as Bill turns his head and mouthed "Help Me,"
"You're on your own," his friends mouthed back
They both headed to the playroom where the room was big and there were rides and slides and swings and twister rides as She got Bill on a swing ride, she started kicking and the swing started swinging up and down
"So far this is nice," Bill said.
"Wanna ride that twister one next, it'll be like ride round and round," said Caecealia as they got off the swing and got on one of the ride cars with the number 3 as Rupert, Sulena, Pong-ping, and Kai-lan ran into the playroom and got on cars number 1 and 2 with Sulena pressed her ring and the ride started up
The child enjoys the ride.
"Isn't this fun," said Sulena
"It is something," Pong-Ping said.
"This is a lot of fun, a little dizzy though," said Bill
The girls make the ride go faster.
"Wheeeeeeeeeeeee," said Rupert
Bill starts to turn a bit green.
Caecealia paused the ride by pressing a button on her ring and asked Bill to speak up. "Bill, can you tell me how many fingers you see?" she inquired.
Bill rushes to the closes trash can.
"I better go help him, be right back," she said as she ran to get him something for his stomach, Kai-lan led Pong-ping to a merry-go-round, and once they climbed on it, it started going with the two on the horses.
"I bit thanks," Bill said.
"Sorry about the ride going faster, come on, let's go on the merry-go-round together," she said
"Okay," Bill said as he follow the group.
They got on the ride and she held tight to Bill on the horse one. "Giddyup, Giddyup This is fun," she said as they feel like riding up and down
"I bet a pet dragon would love this," Pong-Ping said.
"I agree," said Kai-lan
While the children were having fun two foxes were making plans.
"What are we gonna do Freddy," asked the first Fox
"I'm thinking," Freddy answered.
"It's got to be a good one that will give them a fright," said the first fox
"We only need one more scare then we can put our other plan in play," Freddy said.
"What other plan and who should we scare," his brother asked confused
Freddy face pawed at his brother
"Right, I knew that and besides who are those girls gonna love anyway," said Ferdy
"Ferdy, first off we are going to trick two of the girls to marry us which thanks to two of their late fathers is easy since the estate is staffed by nothing but women which means the girls can easily fall in love with any boy, two the reason we scare is so they can drop their guard down," Freddy told Ferdy.
"Right, I knew that and besides who are those girls gonna love anyway," said Ferdy
"Possible those boys who fly that toy plane into one of the estate's windows!" Freddy said.
"What," he said as he looked up at the estate window and there was a broken one at the top
"How I didn't notice that?" Ferdy question.
"That means someone is already inside with those girls," said Freddy as they ran to the estate and peered through the windows
So far they couldn't see anyone.
"Hey Ferdy over here," said Freddy as he waved to his brother
Ferdy went over to where Freddy is at.
"Take a look inside here," he said pointing to the window to the playroom
They Rupert and his friends with the girls.
"Of all people why did it have to be Mr. Goody-good person Rupert and his squeaky clean friends," asked Ferdy
"Talk about a monkey wrench in our works," Freddy said
"Now what do we do Freddy," asked Ferdy
"We are going to call for some help" Freddy answered his brother's question.
"But who exactly is gonna help us," asked his brother
"Let's get out of earshot and I will tell you," Freddy said.
"Good idea," said Ferdy as they scurried away from the estate
The two foxes went into the forest.
"This will be a piece of cake," they both said
The Fox brothers set up what they need to summon.
"Do we got everything," asked Freddy
"Yep," Ferdy said.
"Then, let's begin," said Freddy
They have begun to cheat.
Then something happened in the air
Then three humans appeared
"Who dares summon us," said one of them
The first has green hair tied into buns of some sort with some hair loose at the bottom and is a human woman, as well as black thread-like things going across her forehead and the top of her head. She has green eyes, and pink, ball earrings, she wears a black dress with the same thread-like things going crisscrossed up and down her arms. A black star holds her dress and the threads together. Underneath her black dress is another layer, colored green. She also wears green tights with more lines going criss-cross up and down, and black shoes.
The second is another human woman who has short bobbed, wavy orange hair with darker orange eyes and light skin. She wears a black bra connected to a black skirt with a black diamond with many orange stars. She has a black necklace with a star connecting it to her top. She has an orange bracelet, orange underskirts, and yellow tights. Her black sandals have diamonds on with white straps higher up her legs. She wears a pearl tiara with lilac gems, similar to her lilac earrings.
The last is another human woman who has shoulder-length white hair and blue eyes. She has light blue stockings, blue and black mosaic leotard, a blue hat, a blue wristband, a black star necklace, and blue star earrings.
"We did," said the fox brothers
"What does a pair of foxes want with us?" the orange woman said.
"We need you to kidnap three boys so we can be with two of the girls they are with," said Freddy
"Huh, that's new," said the white hair woman.
"What do they look like exactly," asked the green one
"A white bear, a badger, and a Chinese dog," Ferdy answered.
"But what do we get if we do this," asked the white one
"The boys" Freddy answered.
Back with Rupert and friends
"Come on, We like to show you the ballroom where we will have a party in a few days," said Sulena as the girls dragged the poor boys to the next room while Amara chuckles
"But me and Rupter are not like Bill we don't dress up like we're going to a ball," Pong-Ping said.
"It's not a fancy party, it's a friendly get-together where you can dress how you are," said Sulena's sister
The boys follow the girls
They were led to a room where a large machine where Cecealia said can help dress you in the clothes you would like to wear
Bill goes in the machine and came out wearing a cancan dress with matching shoes.
Another maid with short blue hair rubbed the back of her head "I forgot to mention that the machine has a few bugs, My bad, sorry about that young man," The girls giggled holding back laughter as Rupert and Pong-ping tried to hold back their laughter.
The machine grabs the badge and put him back in it.
"Ai-ya the machine," said Pong-ping as the kids rushed in to pull their friend out. "Quick shut off the machine," said Sulena
Then Bill came out wearing a ballroom suit.
"WOW," they all said as Bill looked at the mirror and was amazed by what he was wearing
Then it grabs Pong-Ping.
"Ai-ya Put me down," he said as he tried to get free
The Chinese come out dressed as female ballerina outfit
"Oops, darn bugs," Said Amy as she tried to fix it as Lita got out her huge mallet. "I got this, Stand back," she said, and with a huge whack
Then Pong-Ping came out in a Chinese dress suit.
"Amazing outfit, Pong-ping," said Bill as a full-length mirror showed him what he was wearing
"I agreed," Pog-Ping said
Then the machine grabs Rupert.
"Hey Let me go, Put me down," he said as he struggled to get free of the hand
The white came out wearing a nighty.
The girls quickly covered their eyes as Rupert grabbed a curtain and wrapped it around him. "Sorry, darn bugs," said Amy as she and Lita kicked and punched the machine
Then Rupert comes out wearing a dress suit.
"I think we better put this machine back in the workshop," Lita said to Amy.
"Maybe we can still fix it," said Amy as Rupert looked down at the outfit he was wearing and was amazed by it
"I think what Lita meant by that is you can fully fix it there since you take it apart without getting this room messy," Rupert said.
"Good point," said Amy smiling as the children walked out of the room.
"So? How do we get it out of this room?" Lita questioned as she looks at the machine that was too big to fit through the room.
"Allow me," said Amy as she pushed the blue button on the side of the machine and it folded itself up into a tiny suitcase
"Woe!" Lita said.
"Yup," said Amy
Lita went over and pick the tiny suitcase.
"But it's heavy!" Lita said.
"Allow me," said Amara, and in no time the suitcase was lifted
"Are both of you coming?" Amara questions
"Yes and those boys with the mistresses might be the perfect match for them," whispered Amy and Lita
"Don't let Mina hear you," Lita whispered back.
"Why," whispered Amy
"You know how much a matchmaker she is," Lita whispered back.
"Oh yikes, if word gets out, we'll be in hot water," whispered Amy
"While the emperor may be happy having Pong-Ping as an in-law the same can't be don't our mistresses' other family members," Lita whispered back.
"Correct and whenever that happens, those poor boys might go wshhhh," said Amy making a chopping sound while her finger went past her neck
"And who do you think will be ahead of them for said chopping block if we don't make sure Mina doesn't but in," Lita whispered.
"Don't know, they are both nice, but they have families," whispered back Amy looking at Bill and Rupert
"I'm saying it would be our heads next to Mina's before those poor boys," Lita whispered.
"Yikes your right," whispered Amy
Both of them went quiet at that.
They walked to where the children where
The ballroom only has one table at the moment.
"This is our first time holding a party without mother and father," said Sulena as she looked up at the portrait of the family all smiling
"I'm sorry," Rupert said.
"It's alright, Rupert, the maids and the people who helped raise us are very kind and gentle, including you," said Sulena as she held his hand with hers
"Thank you," the white bear said while a blonde maid noticed the duo's interaction.
"Excuse me, But might I make a suggestion," said the sister quickly as three arrows with heart-shaped were pulled back
"What is it?" Sulena asks
"DUCK," she shouted as they ducked in time for the arrows to fly by and hit a banister
"What the heck?" Bill questions
"Ai-ya, what was that," asked Pong-ping as they each got up
"I don't know," Kai-Lan said.
"Rats I missed," said the blonde maid
"Mina? What are you doing?" another blonde maid asks the other.
"Uh decorating the ballroom for the ball tonight," she said quickly hiding the arrows
"Okay," her blonde said as she work on the other end of the ballroom.
"Phew, that was close also these arrows are dipped in a Love potion and whoever is struck by these guys will fall in love with the first person they see, also the arrows are a nice touch with decorations for the ball," whispered Mina as she looked at Rupert, Bill, and Pong-ping as they talked to the maidens
"But I better wait when those three aren't around," Mina whispered as she remember the last time she get the three older maids made at her.
"Hey Mina, help me out with the fruit punch," said Lita as Mina ran over to her and suddenly got an idea
'Thank you, Lita,' Mina thought.
They carefully started carrying the food and other things to the ballroom while Mina and Lita started carrying the Punch bowl over to the tables where the food is. "Do you need help," asked Rupert
"No thank you, we're fine Lita is a lot stronger than she looks," Mina answered
"It's no biggie, here let me," said Bill as he attempted to lift the punch bowl, but it fell on him and got him stuck
"And now you need to change," Lita said
"Oops," said Bill as he is drenched in the punch A black-haired maid carried him in a bridal style towards the room to clean him up
'One down, two to go,' Mina thought
"AI-YA," shouted Pong-ping as large red velvet silk curtains fell on him and he got tangled in them as he tried to get free
Then a maid with medium-length blue hair went over to help him.
"Don't worry, Puppy, I'm here for you," she said as she picked him up and took him to get fix his hair
"Thank you," Pong-ping said
"You're welcome," she said taking him and brushing his fur
Mina moves closer to Rupert.
"BOO," screamed Mina making the little bear jumped
He landed in a trash can.
"Oopsy daisy, sorry about that little bear, come on sweetie let's get you all cleaned up, Upsy daisy," said Mina as she picked up Rupert and gave him to another maid with long flowing green hair and gave her instructions which she nodded as she took Rupert to get cleaned up
"Mina go make some more punch," the older maid told the younger.
"Right, back in a moment," said Mina as she carried the empty punch bowl into the kitchen and started making the fruit punch more delicious than the first one. "Now for the special ingredient," she said
She then pulls out the love potion.
"One good sip from this passion potion and those boys will fall in love with a tree stump, but I must make sure the mistresses and the princess are the first people they see after they drink this stuff," she said as she poured four drops in the punch
'I'm surprised the others don't fully search more often," Mina thought.
"The Punch is ready, Lita help me carry it," she said
Lita walks over to Mina.
They lifted the heavy Punch bowl over to where the refreshments are as the ballroom is completely decorated with more colorful decorations
'So far so good,' Lita thought.
"Now the invitations," said Amy as she got a pile of invitations
"Amy only six people are coming to this ball and three of them live here," Mina pointed out.
"Well, the Mistresses want to invite people and kids here that way they can trust people in Nutwood," said Amy
"And Amara is okay with that?" Mina questions
"She and the mistresses trust those boys," said Mina whispering in Amy's ear
"The boys are allowed but not the rest of Nutwood," Amara said.
"Darn but why not, Rupert did say they are friendly here plus the Mistresses seemed to make friends with those three right now," said Mina and Amy sadly
"You're right it's far too soon for a true ball," Mina said.
"Maybe your right," said Amy looking down
Normally Amara would question Mina's quick agreement but right now it's not a problem.
"We'll just see how these three will help them feel better," said Amara
"Yes, Amara," Mina and Amy said.
Then they got back to work while the other maids finished with the silk cloths for the decorations
While shadows were moving with a body attached.
"So this is the ballroom," thought a voice
'Yes,' another thought.
"But where can those three people be," thought the third
'Then we slip up, and if one of us finds them we'll message the others,' the first thought.
"Right," thought the second one
The three shadows went their own ways.
One went to where Rupert was and attached itself to his shadow
The second found Bill and attached itself to his shadow.
The third one found Pong-ping and attached itself to his shadow as well
'Found them,' the shadows thought at once.
"I hope Sulena can come out to play, I just need to help her trust others," said Rupert
"Mr. Rupert a ball is a formal dance," the maid next to him said
"Like in the story of "Cinderella," he said
"Yes," the maid answered
"I have a question, the baroness' parents, how did they go missing on the balloon travel," he asked
"They were captured in a storm." The maid answered
"Oh no," Rupert whispered sadly
"So far, most of us believe they are MIA instead of passing away since nobody had been found yet," the maid said.
"I'm so sorry I asked, it must have been pretty hard for them to lose their parents," said Rupert sadly
"It was but the baroness' aunt and uncle took her in," the maid said.
"Where are they, are they here," he asked
"No, they are back where they rule at," the maid answered.
"They really must love children if they sent her here to protect her along with Lady Sulena, by the way, they are both sisters right, because if she's the baroness' sister, shouldn't she be a baroness too," asked Rupert as he worries
"They have their own area to oversee and the mistresses' mother is an English baroness while their father is a Fresh Count," the maid answered.
"Oh, but still the girls seemed to like it here in Nutwood," said Rupert
"While that may be true once the danger had passed they need to move to where they needed to fill their duties as Baroness and Countess," the maid answered.
"But won't they miss their friends and others too, because they seem to love it here," said Rupert as the shadow looked at him
"It's either they stay here and give up their titles and let someone else have them with the chance those persons might not have the best interest for the people that live there or they go after all the need of the many outweighs the need of the few," the maid said.
"But what if I talked to the baroness' aunt and uncle and convinced them to let her and her sister keep their title and stay in Nutwood because we would want to be their friends," said Rupert
"Sadly it wouldn't last long as there are ways people with ill interest could use the long distance to their advantage," the maid said.
"But my friends and I aren't like them," he said as Sulena heard it when she opened her door for air
"I didn't say you and you're friends are like that but there are people like," the maid said.
"Oh, but I'm sure I can reason with them," said Rupert
"You're still so young that you can't see the bigger picture, not everyone will listen and give up their ways," the maid said.
"I may be young, but I can help anyway I can," he said as Sulena silently sighed lovingly at what he said
"I guess it has to be one of those you have to learn for yourself type of lesson," the maid said.
"Well, isn't there a way to contact them," asked Rupert
"Even if you contact them you much know no good deed goes unpunished," the maid said.
Rupert gulps and asked "What does that mean,"
"You have to wait and see," the maid said.
"Okay," he said
The maid then leaves.
"But still, those girls are great friends and they should decide on their lives, not who makes the decisions for them," said Rupert as he takes one last look at the mirror
Sulena leaves her spot to meet the others.
Then the shadow started going up behind the young bear
It went underneath Rupert's feet.
"But I want to help Sulena, but how," he asked himself
Rupert knows being a leader isn't easy but the only leader he was around often was the emperor of China, he at least thought they had some freedom.
"Maybe I got an idea," he said snapping his fingers
He try to step away but couldn't.
"What's going on," he asked trying to move
Rupert looks down at his feet.
The shadow opened their eyes as Rupert was about to scream for help
A pair of shadow hands cover his mouth.
It started pulling him down while he stretched out his hand as he was gone into the shadows
At the same time, the same thing is happening to Bill and Pong-Ping.
Bill threw his bowtie onto the floor before he disappeared
Then two well-dressed young men step out of the shadows.
"Look out fair maidens, Because these gentlemen are coming for your love," said one of them as they headed out the door and into the hallway unknown to them, a little pink-haired girl came into the room
'I have to tell everyone,' the little girl thought.
She closed her eyes and concentrated as she sent mind-reading messages in the maids' heads explaining what happened in the rooms
Sadly she only gets her mother.
"Rini, what's wrong," thought her mother
Rini told her mother everything.
'Oh my, we must tell Amara and the others including the mistresses in private,' she thought
Rini went to the closest maid.
She quickly whispered something in her ear and she nodded
The maid did what Rini try to do before.
They also got to the mistresses and princess too and told them everything
'It must be those foxes!' Kai-lan thought.
"We better do something and save them," thought Sulena
'Which means we need the foxes alive,' Cacealia thought
"How," thought Sulena
'Leaves that to me,' Amara thought.
"Amara, are you sure," she asked
'Trust me, I have my ways,' Amara answered.
She went down the hall to the gentlemen
"Hello there are the owners of this lovely estate home by chance?" Freddy asks
"Yes, but you must wait in the living room to speak with them," she said
"Lead the way, my good lady," Ferdy said.
"At once," she bowed as she started leading the way
Once in the living room screams of pain ring throughout the estate.
"WE GIVE! WE GIVE!" shouted Freddy
Amara head back to her mistresses with the two foxes tired up and out of their disguises.
"My ladies, here they are," she said as she brought them in front of the girls
Everyone but the foxes look at Amara in shock.
"We knew it was you two again," said Sulena talking to the foxes' true identity
"How did you do that!? Kai-lan questions.
"You don't wanna know," said both girls as Sulena walks up to the brothers and demanded "Where's Rupert and his friends boys,"
"Sorry we don't know," Freddy answered.
"Well ladies, looks like we are gonna use harsher methods," said Sulena
"We're telling you the truth those witches didn't tell us where they had taken the boys to," Ferdy said
"Better be telling the truth or it's the feather," said Kai-lan as Rini holds up a feather
"We are telling you the truth," Freddy said
"Okay," said Ceacealia as she went to go sit down on a bench-like loveseat
"What are the witches' names?" Amara question
"Telulu, Mimete, and Byruit," said Freddy
"Thank you," Amara said.
"I know where those witches are at," she told her mistresses.
"Please take us to them," said Sulena
"I'll but before we leave we need to grab something from the kitchen first," Amara said.
"Right, but what," asked the three girls
"You'll see," Amara answered
She led them all to the kitchen in no time
At the witches' home.
Rupert was opening his eyes when he was waking up
"Where I am?" He question
He noticed that he was in a birdcage as he saw his friends in two other birdcages
'Bill! Pong-Ping!' He thought.
"Please wake up," he whispered
Then he hears someone coming.
He closed his eyes and pretended to be still asleep
"Why do love potions always take the longest?" A woman voices questions.
"Love potions?" he thought in his head as one of them walked towards the birdcages
"But, it will be worth it," another woman said.
"You know this badger is a kinda cutie for me," said the third woman as she tickled under Bill's chin through the bars of the birdcage
"Hey! The sooner we make those potions the better!" the first woman said.
"I guess," said the third woman as she went with the two witches
Rupert opens one of his eyes.
"And soon these boys will be ours while those foxes can have those girls," said the second witch
"But there's two todds and three girls," the third pointed out.
"The Baroness and her sister I meant," said the second witch
"I thought one of them was going after the Chinese princess?" The first question.
"Nah something about just those girls," said the third, and with their backs turned, Rupert tried to reach for the key on a hook next to him on the wall
'just a bit closer," Rupert thought
He almost got to the key when a mouse scampered up into his cage
'Oh no,' he thought.
"Shoo little fellow," he said as the mouse scampered up towards the key and knocked it off the hook and it landed on Rupert's lap
"Thank you," Rupert said to the mouse.
He carefully placed it in the keyhole and carefully without a peep unlocked the door
But unfortunately for the young bear, one of the witches had forgotten to oil the case door.
"Squeak," went the door as Rupert with shock heard it
The witches turn to the source of the sound.
"Look girls, our little lovebirds are flying out of their cages," said the first witch
"Look girls, one of our little lovebirds is try flying out of its cages!" said the first witch
Rupert tries to make a run for it.
"I'll get him," said the second witch
She created a rope made out of magic.
"Yee-haw," she said as she lariats Rupert and pulled him as he spun around getting tied up in the rope
"RUPERT CATCH!" a new voice shouted.
"What the," shouted both witches as they turned towards the noise
Rupert sees a band with a stone on it heading towards him.
He runs for it and he catches it and shouted "GOT IT,"
He put it on.
"Hisssssss," the three witches said as Rupert shows them it
Then Amara and the girls come in.
"But how did they find us," they said
"That's for me to know!" Amara said as she toss two more bands at Rupert.
"Put those on your friends' wrists, trust me," she said to Rupert as he looked at the bands and nodded
He nods as he ran towards his friends' cases.
One of the witches whistles for a large plant called Big Bertha and pointed at the Amara and the girls
"Get 'em!" the witch said.
The plant charges after Amara while The witches go after Rupert and his friends
Amara tosses a stone with a red dragon in the plant's mouth.
"Ignite!" Amara said.
The plant roared in pain as the flames burned it to the ground
"WHAT THE HECK!?" the third witch shouted as she saw what happen to the plant.
"HURRY AND CATCH THOSE KIDS," shouted the first witch
Amara rushes to the first witch and does a knee blow to the witch's gut.
the second witch got on her broom she flew down and snatched Rupert
But the band stopped her.
She screamed in pain as she let Rupert go and he started falling
"Witch hunter charm! I should have known," she said.
"HELP ME," screamed Rupert as he fell from the sky
Sulena catches him.
"Sulena, you can fly," said Rupert as he opened his eyes
"It's the shoes," she said as she pointed to her footwear.
"What kind of shoes are they," he asked
"I think they are copies of Hermes' winged sandals," she answered.
"HELP," shouted a familiar voice at the bottom
One of the witches grabs Bill.
"At last, you are MINE," she said as they hopped on a broom and started flying away
Rupert toss one of the bands to Bill.
"YEOW," she screamed as she dropped Bill and he started falling "HELP," he yelled as he closed his eyes and awaited the sound of him going splat
Cacealia catches him.
"You can fly too, amazing," he said with amazement
"Yeah, still can't believe how many pair of Hermes' winged sandals Amara has!" Cacealia said.
"Isn't he that messenger of the gods," he asked as he started looking down
"Yes, he is," Cacealia answered
"We got to back and help the others," he said
"Right," she said.
"But first, will you trust me," she asked Bill
"Yes, why?" Bill asks back
"Because Apologies in advance for this," she said as she flew straight downward like an arrow with Bill next to her
Bill didn't say anything since the girls forget to change.
"There," she said as she pointed to the ground
"You meant to want to go easy on the speed," Bill said
She blushed crimson red as they went to give her another bracelet
Pong-Ping catches the band.
"OUCH," said one of the witches as she dropped him and he shields his eyes waiting to go splat, "AI-YAH," he screamed
Kai-Lan catches Pong-Ping.
"Kai-lan, your flying, but how," he asked confused as he looked down
Kai-Lan give him as the others did.
"That is nice, what is going on here," he asked
"We're getting you out," Amara answered.
"But who are those women," asked Rupert
"They are witches that foxes summoned to aid them in their goal," Amara answered
"What," said the boys
"We will tell you the whole story once we are outside," Amara told the boys.
"LOOK OUT," shouted the boys
"Don't worry just stay close to one another," Amara said.
"No we actually meant LOOK OUT," shouted Bill pointing at a large vine swinging at them
Amara tosses some paper targets at the vine.
"Kai!" Amara said as the targets transform into flames.
It burned the vines as she took the boys out of the woods
Once they reach the edge of the wood, the witches hit a barrier.
"OUCH," they screamed
The first witch looked to see what stop them and saw something white.
"SALT! THAT ACCURSED SEASONING!" she shouted.
"Salt?" asked Rupert confused
"A circle of salt can protect you from witches or encase witches in this case and as long the salt is untouched they can't leave the woods," Amara answered.
"Amazing," said Bill
"I don't know if it will ever work on witches from other countries," Amara said
"Let's go before it rain," Bill said.
"Right, let's put these shoes to the sky!" said Sulena as she fy with Rupert in her arms.
As they soared through the sky, Rupert and Sulena both blushed at each other
It takes a few hours to reach the estate.
"We are so sorry you three got captured," said Kai-lan
"It is fine at less it was a dragon," Pong-Ping said.
"That was really amazing we can fly," said Bill as he and Caecealia were flying together
"Allow because of the sandals," Sulena said.
"Remarkable," he said as he looked at Caecealia and she looked at him while they are blushing light pink
While everyone else was busy Mina work on another bowl of her punch
"This will work and those girls won't be lonely anymore," she thought
'Now to seal the deal,' she thought as she make six cups.
Then she put the cups on a tray and carried it to the kids
"Here you," Mina as she takes her leaves
"Thank you," said Rupert as he and the boys and girls took their cups and Sulena raises her glass in a toast
Lita notices something off bout the drink.
"WAIT!" she screamed but it was too late as they each started drinking it
When they open their eyes a flash of pink light or in their eyes.
"Are you each okay," asked Lita as the kids shook their heads yes as if nothing happened
She quickly grabs Mina's collar of her uniform.
"What exactly did you put in the punch," she asked silently and scary
"Oh you know oranges, lemons, limes, and other fruits," Mina answered while not looking Lita in the eyes.
"Lita, calm down it's just some new fruit or something," said Sulena as Lita looked at her and Mina
"Oh, it's something new alright!" Lita said as she and Mina went into the kitchen where loud sounds of crashing and a few from Mina could be heard.
"I hope everything's okay in there," said Rupert to Sulena
Then Lita came into the room with a glass vial in hand while the other had Mina in a state of dress that look like he went through a ruff and fast body search.
"My goodness, what happened," asked Kai-lan
"What happened is this little rat thought she could slip a love potion into your drinks," Lita answered.
"I don't feel anything happening," said Rupert
Ray look out of the window and saw something that make her blood run cold.
"We got a problem," she said pointing out the window
The others went to the window and their eyes wide at what they saw.
"The witches?" asked Bill
"No! it's far worst than the witches it's..." Serena started.
"Hurry to the door," said Amara as they ran fast like the wind to the door Amara opened it and greeted the aunt and the uncle
Lita takes Mina to the kitchen.
"If we get beheaded because of what you did I'm going to beat you in the afterlife until the end of time!" Lita told the blonde.
"Got it and also it's a dud, the potion didn't work after all," she said shaking her head
"I don't believe you!" Lita said as she straightened out Mina's uniform.
"Remember what that white bear said They didn't feel anything weird so that means it's a dud," said Mina
"And the flashing of pink in their eyes?" Lita's questions as finished.
"It was probably a trick with the lights in the ballroom," said Mina as they went out and greeted the aunt and uncle
"Greetings your highnesses," Amara said.
"Thank you, Amara, and who may these young gentlemen be," asked the aunt pointing at Rupert and his friends
The aunt is a woman with long brown hair wearing a periwinkle dress.
"This is Rupert Bear, Bill Badger, and Pong-Ping," Amara answered.
"Hello your highnesses," they said bowing their heads
The man gives the boys a look.
"Hello sir," said Bill bowing his head in front of the uncle
"Hello as well, Amara a word with you in Private," the man said
"Wait please don't be upset with Amara, Uncle, " begged Sulena as she grabbed his arm softly
"How long were the boys here for?" he asks.
"Just to find their toy plane that crashed in the house and also to have lunch and have fun on the toys the girls have, nothing else more sire, " she said as she bowed her head
Then Rini came
"What should I do about the foxes you beat Amara?" She questions without knowing who is in the room.
She was shocked at the sight of the uncle and she quickly covered her mouth
"Which kind of fox are we talking about the talking kind or the running on all-four kind," the uncle questions.
"The talking magical ones sire, but we defend the mistresses because those two were after the fortune, also the young bear and his friends are not interested in the riches, they just want to be friends with the girls," said Amara as she knelt before the uncle
"Good, as for the boys as long none of the maids or you leaves them alone with the girls they can keep coming here and being friends but if I learn about some funny business going on then they would ask to be beheaded!" the uncle said.
"Of course Sire, but it looks like they are just friends, " said Amara as the uncle smiled
"Good but if a maid decides to play matchmaker I know someone who is looking for a wife!" the uncle said with a dark look on his face.
Mina shuddered and shivered like someone told Amara who the uncle was talking about
"Before I forget to say their husband-to-be isn't human!" the uncle said.
"Trust me my lord none of my maids would be that foolish," Amara said.
"Excellent and between you and me Amara, those boys remind me of when I was their age, " he whispered
"That they do," Amara said while Mina look like she had her color and life drained from her.
"You know, they might be okay plus the girls are comfortable with them around, " he chuckled
"They are happier than before," Amare said.
"Maybe they should come again for a playdate," he said
"I think that is a lovely idea dair,' his wife agreed
"Indeed don't you think so Amara, plus those boys help them ease their aching hearts," said the uncle pointing at the boys
"No problem sir," Rupert said.
"I think our nieces will enjoy here in Nutwood, I knew my brother was right about this town, so quiet and nice," said the Aunt
"Maybe if I talk to the noble around for trade so Ceacalia could be the Baroness of this area." the uncle said.
"Sulena can be the countess here too," said the aunt
"She is a France Countess, not an English Countess unless we married her to an English nobleman I'm afraid that is out of the question." the uncle said.
"But she seems to like it here in Nutwood and also she and Rupert are excellent friends, maybe we can teach that boy to be an English Nobleman," she said pointing at Rupert
"Then we are asking him to leave his home more than once besides the girls won't take on their duties until the age of eighteen," her husband said.
"But let's put it to a test to see if he would make a wise decision," she said
"Very well," the uncle caved in.
They both nodded their heads and turned toward The boys
They move to the next room.
"Excuse me, Rupert is it," asked the Aunt as they came into the room
"Yes it is ma'am," Rupert answered.
"How would you like to come with us to France and study there," she asked shocking the kids and the maids
"Honey we have to ask their parents first," her husband said.
"But we like Rupert here in Nutwood," said Bill
"And you like having the girls here right?" the uncle said with a look that said 'Try and test me, boy!'
Bill hid behind Amara as Caecealia looks at her uncle with a "Leave him alone or I won't speak to you ever again," look in her eyes
"His parents still could say no," her uncle said.
"Hmm, you are right I do apologize for that, maybe you and Mr. Bear would like to come to the estate for tea or dinner with how late it is," the aunt said.
"Of course Miss?" she said as she went to fetch both her coat and her husband
"I'm Lady Sarah Chiphiller and this is my husband Lord Mark Chiphiller," the now-named Lady Sarah said while pointing to her husband.
"Pleasure to meet you, your ladyship," said Mrs. Bear as she bowed her head, and Lady Sarah told her to just call her Sarah
The group of 20 makes their way back to the estate.
They each were seated as the girls sat with Rupert and his friends
"May I ask why are we here?" Mr. Bear asks
"First we want to say thank you for your son being excellent friends with our nieces, " said the Uncle
"First we want to say thank you for your son being excellent friends with our nieces, " said Lord Mark.
"That's sweet of him," Mrs. Bear said.
"Also we would like to bring him to France with us to be a nobleman, " said Lady Sarah
This shocked the Bears
"Why do you what?" Mr. Bear asks.
"You see, My husband and I would like to extend our hand of friendship, and also since my brother and his wife went missing, Rupert seems to have comforted Sulena and we would like to bring him back with us as a peaceful friend for her to have around as what you people would say." Said Lady Sarah as Mrs. Bear looked at her husband and then at their son
"While it would be a great opportunity for our son we have to decline your offer he isn't ready to go to school abroad," Mrs. Bear said.
"But Mom, It would be the only the only way for Sulena and her sister to stay in Nutwood," said Rupert as Lady Sarah told the Parents to come to the next room to discuss it
The kids waited.
"What are they saying," asked Bill to Caecealia with her ear pressed to the door
"I don't know they most had soundproofed that room," Caecealia answered
"How," asked Pong-ping
"Don't ask us we don't know either," Kai-lan answered.
"But I'm worried about what's happening," asked Sulena
"I don't," Bill said.
"Why," she asked
"Because I'm beyond that!" Bill said in a panicked tone of voice.
"Bill, I'm not going anywhere," said Rupert
"You don't know that!" Bill said.
"Bill, can we talk alone for a moment please," asked Ceacealia taking Bill to the other room
"What?" Bill asks.
"You worried about Rupert leaving Nutwood aren't you?" she asked
"Yes I am," Bill answered.
"I may have an idea for this situation, but look me in the eyes and tell me, do you trust me," she said as she looked at Bill straight in his eyes and he did the same with her
"I trust you," Bill said.
"Great, your gonna help me find his friends and help prevent Rupert from leaving," she said as she ran out and told her sister where she was going and to not tell her aunt and uncle and Rupert's parents where she and Bill are
They enter the room.
"But the problem is how do we get to all our friends," asked Bill
"I think I know a way," Ceacealia said as she went over to Amara.
She whispers something into the older maid's ear which makes her eyes widen before she closes her eyes.
"What did you tell her," asked Bill as he scratched his head in curiosity
"You shouldn't know," Ceacealia said
"Very well I'll go and get them," Amara said as she leaves.
"Amazing," said Bill as she blushes light pink while twisting her hair strand with her finger
Within a matter of seconds, Amara brings all of Rupert's friends from Nutwood to the estate.
"WOW, how did you do that," he asked as he was shocked
"Sorry but that's my secret to keep," Amara answered.
"Listen, everyone, we need your help for Rupert," said Bill
"What's happening?" An elderly man asks
"Lady Sarah and Lord Mark Chiphiller are planning to take Rupert away to France with them," said Bill as he and Caecealia both explain the situation to everyone
This shocked everyone.
"But we have an idea to keep him here in Nutwood, so come together and I'll tell you," she said
"Which is?" a white-furred bulldog question.
"The real reason that Rupert should stay in Nutwood like how you all feel about him," she said
Everyone nodded their heads.
"But we got to show them how Rupert makes us all feel because they might not be convinced," said Bill
Then the older blonde maid brings in a wagon full of the needed supplies.
"Thank you," she said to the maid
"You're welcome and now if you don't mind I need to have a friendly chat with a fellow blonde," Amara said.
She took Mina to another room
"WAIT! I DIDN'T TELL HER!" Mina shouted.
"You put the love potion in the punch didn't you," she asked tapping her foot
"Oh! yes, that was me," Mina said.
"Why," asked Amara
"Because our mistresses were lonely," Mina answered.
"But it was a dud because I don't think it worked really," said Mina
Amara look at her a bit harder.
"It's true and somebody really needs to fix some lighting on the ceiling," said Mina
"Fine, I believe you about the love potion not working," Amara said.
"Oh thank you, Amara," said Mina bowing her head as they returned to the group
'But that leaves the question of who told Caecealia about Michelle?' Amara thought.
"Amara, are you okay," asked the girl
"I just thinking," Amara answered.
"Okay," she said
With the adults.
"It's actually a test to see if Nutwood is happy with Rupert here," said Sarah
"Of course it is," Mrs. Bear said.
"But with your permission Mrs. Bear, we need your help in Passing Nutwood because my brother loved coming here when he was a young boy," said Sarah
"Really?" Mr. Bear's question.
"Of course, he would always tell me about the magic and wonders of this place and how people are friendly and kind to others, then he told me of the friends here and how he met his first love here which was Caecealia's mother and my sister, " said Lord Mark as he offered a cookie to the parents
Mrs. Bear went into deep thought.
"So that's why in dear brother's wish that the girls be safe here," said Sarah
"Until they are of age?" Mrs. Bears asks
"Or whatever they like," said Mark
"I see," Mr. Bear said.
"This is a nice place for the maidens," said Sarah
"Since one of them has a daughter of their own," Mark said.
"who," asked Mrs. Bear
"Serena the blonde with the buns and long pigtails," Mark answered.
"Oh the maid," she said
"She is a good person and mother," Sarah said.
"True and where is her father," asked Mrs. Bear
"Which? Serena's or Rini's?" Mark asks
"Rini's father," she said
"Ah! Darien, he's in the royal navy as a medic," Sarah answered.
"But won't Rini miss her father and Serena miss him a lot, maybe it might be the same if we ever miss Rupert," said Mr. Bear
"They do but sadly Serena and Darien's parents cut them off when they learned Rini was on the way, and doing a tour is the only way Darien became a doctor," Mark answered.
"We're so sorry about that, to tell you both the truth, we don't know what we would do if we ever lost Rupert," said Mrs. Bear
"I feel the same about our own children back home," Mark said.
"You and your beautiful wife must really love children," said Mr. Bear
"Yes, we do," Sarah answered.
"Also My wife's brother and my sister both are the reason we love children, how they are like a rainbow making us all feel colorful and happy inside," said Lord Mark
"That's sweet," Mrs. Bear said.
"That is why we sent them here to Nutwood as part of my sister's wish for them to see the place where their parents first fell in love," said Mark
"I see," Mr. Bear said.
"Please help us with this test to see if Rupert would make a wise decision and stay in Nutwood," said Sarah
Very well," Mr. Bear said.
They both shook hands as they headed toward the door
They open the door.
"Ai-ya, they are coming," said Pong-Ping as he saw the adults coming to where the children are
The site the adults saw amazed them.
"This is truly breathtaking," said Lady Sarah
"And how did all of Rupert's friends get here?" Mrs. Bear said.
"We would like to ask about Rupert," said Algy bowing his head
"What is that?" Lord Mark's question.
"PLEASE DON'T TAKE RUPERT AWAY!" they all said at once
"We are in front of you! you don't need to shout," Mrs. Bear said.
"We're so sorry, it's just that Rupert is the reason that we are always happy," said Podgy
"Really?" Lady Sarah asks
"Yes really, you see without Rupert, there won't be any happiness anymore," said Algy
'It's the people that make a place great," Lord Mark thought.
"Also Rupert has done so much good things with us," said Ottoline
The adults nodded their heads
"So does that mean," asked Tiger Lily
They make the hush sign as they heard someone coming.
They turned to see who it was that was coming it is Rupert.
"Hello everyone, why are you all here," he asked as he saw all his friends in the room that he is in
"Rupert we had to talk to your parents," Lord Mark said.
"What did they say," he asked
"They think it is for the best if you came with us," Lady Sarah lied.
This shocked everyone including Bill, Pong-ping, and the maidens including the maids
"I'm sorry but I can't," Rupert said
"Why not," they both asked
"I can't leaves my home and my friends," Rupert answered.
"But you do want our nieces to stay in Nutwood and have friends, after all when they were growing up in their hometowns, they barely have any friends because we are always moving from town to town even when they want to stay at a place that they always loved," said Lady Sarah
"Which is why I don't think you will," Rupert said.
"What do you mean," they both asked
"Given the fact most nobles aren't so noble the girls are safer here than anywhere else," Rupert answered.
"He kinda has a point there dear," said Sarah
"Indeed," Lord Mark said.
