Both Turks never reached the chopper. It was blown away and rolled a few times before it hit one of the buildings and exploded.

"That's what I get for listening to you and coming to work" Reno raised his hand to stop the flying sharp pieces cutting his face.

"Why is he back, what he wants?"

"How should I know?"

Another wave, stronger than the previous rushed it's way, Reno drew some small device from his pocket, turned it on and threw it, next moment a blow of temporary shield stopped the wave and gave them time to hide behind the next building.

"What was that?" Rude was cleaning his glasses from the dust.

"You are not the only one who is playing with the company's toys, partner."

Reno got a few seconds while the shield was still on to call for help.

"Who are you calling to?"

"Someone I'd regret later. Come on, pick up, pick up!"

Phone was ringing too long, the shield died and they both had to run and hide, the next wave broke the wall they used for cover in two. Bricks, stones, metal shreds came their way, red haired felt how something hit him in the back, ripping his jacket and the blood coming.

"Oh, crap…"

"You ok?" Rude reached him.

"It's nothing, let's go."

A few black feathers came their way, the jerk was close.

Rude dropped his glasses at the melee and light was like a hammer in his forehead, he covered his eyes, Reno gave him support and both ran again.

On the other side of the line Cloud's phone was turning on for the third time, he tried to ignore it. He and Tifa were sitting at a restaurant, she was wearing a very elegant black dress and he was with a shirt and not his usual army pants for a change.

"Who is it?" she asked, holding his hand on the table.

"Nobody."

"That nobody calls for the third time, it may be an emergency. Pick up."

Cloud rolled his eyes and got the phone.

"You finally picked up, yo!" Reno was trying to catch his breath, a car flew just over his head.

"I'm busy" with half a mouth said Cloud.

"We have a situation. Genesis."

"Genesis is gone, and now is really not the moment…I am on a date with Tifa."

At the next moment the force that crashed at the restaurant blew away the entire wall, glass and coats started raining on people who lay on the ground to cover.

"You believe me now?" Reno yelled. "Bring the date here!"

"Is he coming?" Rude asked, covering his eyes.

"You want me to call again and ask him?"

Reno was looking over his shoulder and trying to keep running, it wasn't easy with a half blind partner and wind that moved objects heavy tons or something around.

"Don't you have a pair to spare?" Reno clenched at the hidden under the next floor block entrance, Rude was still covering his eyes even at the shadow.

"No, I didn't think I'd need them today."

"Take this" Reno removed his and looked back, something else crashed behind them.

"Those are pilot glasses" his partner pointed out.

"I have nothing else… Come on, stupid Soldier, you won't let me die here."

"Why you call him anyway?" Rude was looking ridiculous with Reno's glasses.

"He is good at killing half gods… You ok?"

"Peachy!"

The bike engine interrupted them and both raised their heads.

"You know, I'm not your errand boy" Cloud was pissed off when he came.

"You are errand to Shinra, and we are Shinra, so basically…"

"One more word and I'm leaving you to deal with your mess alone."

Rude pushed him to make him shut up.

"What happened now?" Cloud asked.

"No idea, he just came and started throwing buildings at us" Rude was trying to look through new glasses and got his rod ready.

"So that's how you guys are spending your time, huh?" Cloud left the cover and checked the sky, preparing his sword. "Get mutants pissed off, ruining the day of One winged, fine sport."

"For the record, I was for staying at the base" Reno said. "What are we going to do?"

"We? I thought you wanted me to do the job."

"I hate this Soldier" Reno mumbled.

Three of them got out and the wind was hitting them so hard that they were moving low, standing back against each other.

"You see him?"

"I can't see a thing" Rude couldn't get used to Reno's glasses.

At that moment the red haired phone rang.

"Tell me something, Reno" it was Rufus on the line "are you chasing the trouble, or is it chasing you?"

"Heh. I…"

"You are out after a month and a half, and you caused a cataclysm again. Hold your location, I am sending support."

"Send a lot, we have one winged problem!"

Reno pressed his back, wet red print left on his hand.

"You hurt?" Cloud saw him.

"I'm fine."

"I'm not carrying you home, just so you know."

Rude smirk behind him.

"Boss is sending backup."

"Cute" Rude crashed one of the stones coming his way and missed the other that hit him, visibility through those glasses was poor.

"Why is he back, what you told him to make him so angry?" Cloud was crashing flying objects with his sword to protect them, he found it not so wise to go out here without any idea why Genesis was so pissed off.

"Nothing, I…" Reno spit on the ground, his mouth was full with dust. "Why you blame me for this?" he hit one park automat coming his way, followed by some advertisement tablet.

"Usually you are the reason behind explosions around."

"That's it, if the big bad angel wasn't around, I'd give you some good advice!"

"I'm all ears." Cloud was welcoming the incoming attacks with his sword, it was too strange Genesis wasn't appearing yet and attacking them from a distance.

"Soldiers are here" Rude let them know, when people from Soldier start coming like falling from the sky, surrounding them, turning into a living shield.

"You alright?" one of them asked the Turks.

"The time of my life" Reno nodded. "That's why we called you, guys, not to miss the fun."

Next moment he almost fell on the ground, someone catched him, his entire back was wet with blood. At the same moment Genesis appeared and Soldiers opened fire. All of them were wiped off like paper figures. Reno was almost on his knees, barely keeping himself in consciousness, Rude was holding him, Cloud - at the front with raised sword.

"Again" Genesis landed too delicately in the middle of fallen Soldiers "terrible welcoming."

"What do you want?" Cloud asked first.

"A few words with the pretty boy" he frowned, despite his humor.

"You should call" Reno tried to attack but he couldn't even hold his weapon right now.

"I can heal you" Genesis came closer, slowly, gracefully, like a black swan swimming. "You can't even look beyond the limits Shinra puts on you."

Reno frowned.

"And I can… Turn her back."

"What?" Reno got some strength, trying to stand on his feet.

"Don't listen to him, he is trying to deceive you!" Rude warned him.

"I don't remember talking to you" Genesis raised his hand and shadows around them became so firm that nothing else except them both could be seen. Not Rude, Cloud, surrounding area, nothing.

"Rude?" Reno felt the support his partner gave him was gone and he almost fell down. "Whad did you do to him, where is he?" Reno growls at him.

"Oh, right here, next to you. He just can't hear you."

Reno was watching how Rude and Cloud were looking around in panic, the invisible wall was keeping them separated.

"Why are you doing this, what do you want?"

At some point he fell on his knees, his hands got scratched from the rough ground. Still that Turk was the most stubborn of all and refused to fall.

"What do I want?' Genesis pretended to be confused. "Question is what you want. I saw the way you were looking at her. I can bring her back, one word and she will stand here, before you. Those nightmares will stop once and for all."

Reno trembled. He knew about the dreams he had. What game the One winged was playing here? Seeing Akane again, just to tell her he was sorry, that was all he was hoping for during last weeks.

Reno held his breath and managed to stand on his feet. Genesis was waiting for an answer.

"No."

Genesis' eyes almost shoot at the red haired.

"You sure you know what you're doing, boy?"

"You wouldn't…" Reno made a sigh of pain and still left on his feet. "You wouldn't come here asking me if you didn't need permission, am I right?"

Both Turk and One Winged looked at each other with obvious treats.

"She is at peace now, and whatever games you are playing, I'm not involved. You will rot!"

Genesis trembled with his words.

"You lied to your partner." Genesis started again, pretending he wasn't affected, pointing at the wall where Rude was still looking around for him. "If you don't get to your base in a short time, you'll die. I can help you."

"If you were such a hero you always claimed to be" this time Reno spit blood and was too dizzy to meet his eyes "you'd do it anyway. You are always seeking something in return. You go screw yourself."

He fell on the ground and shadows covered him.
