"...So what just happened. Can we get an explanation, did he just die?" Yuzu asked as they were back in Reiji's office, this time with Yuzu as the Guppies were currently being looked over by some of the teachers until their parents arrived and picked them up.
"No he did not die," Reiji said. "He was teleported back to the Fusion Dimension."
"Fusion Dimension?" Yuzu asked.
"Cliffnotes: 4 dimensions we know about, each corresponding to a Summoning Type. This one is either Advance or Pendulum." Eddie explained.
"We can call this Pendulum now with the ability to tap into all three," Reiji said. "And now that you are definitely involved with them there is no need to keep you in the dark. A little over 3 years ago my father was getting more and more absent, which started to get to my mother. So I snuck into his Lab to figure out what he was doing and there I accidentally used his dimensional transporter and traveled to the Fusion Dimension."
"Makes sense." Eddie said simply, since there was clearly more to that.
"You traveled through… but you said my and your dad had an accident just earlier?" Yuya asked.
"I lied." Reiji replied. "...somewhat, there was an accident but my father was not involved in it."
"Oh… Hmm, continue."
"There I learned my father had seven years prior established a Duel School, called Academia there to accomplish his plans," Reiji explained.
"Excuse me?" Eddie asked incredulously. "Going off what Sora said, he didn't establish a Duel School he overtook one. The Duel Academy was the glorious creation of Seto Kaiba, established on an island off the mainland, divided into three houses based on the Egyptian God Cards- Slifer Red, Ra Yellow, and Obelisk Blue. Though I don't think you've heard of those three cards around here."
"In your dimension perhaps, Seto Kaiba existed here, he did not exist in Fusion, and it is Osiris Red." Reiji replied.
"Language differences, we call him Slifer in America." Eddie said offhandedly. "But Sora mentioned 'Hibiki-sensei', a famous Darklord user, but she would have been teaching in the early 2000's."
"It is the same year there as it was here, perhaps the Fusion Version of her was just born later."
"Just realized your missing potentially critical context, I'm from the year 2024." Eddie added. "Hence the confusion."
"Different Dimensions can be on different timelines or timescales, but to us it doesn't really matter," Reiji said. "But you are right in saying that it is not a Duel School, it is a military academy that raises children as Duel Soldiers for their army, the Obelisk Force."
"Duel Soldiers?" Yuya asked in horror.
"Why?" Yuzu asked.
"Because my father has gone insane."
Eddie pulled out a piece of paper from her hoodie pocket that said simply: 'Leo Akaba is the bad guy' and handed it to him. "I wrote that a month ago, and I'd never heard of him before then." She discretely decided to burn the one that said Yusho was the bad guy.
"...I just thought she was salty about them buying Kaiba Corp." Yuzu commented.
"Yes my father is a bad guy who must be stopped, as I learned that he wishes to use his army to invade the other Dimensions to card the people and then harvest their duel energy to fuel a machine that will bring about 'Utopia'."
"That's… that's crazy," Yuya said.
"Yes, it is, which is why after I returned, I called the only person I thought at the time who could help."
"Yusho Sakaki." Eddie supplied.
"Yes," Reiji said. "He was my father's friend so I thought he would assist in stopping him, but he wanted to talk first with him, and so he tried to use the transporter but it seems Leo messed with it from the other end, and Yusho vanished. I do not know if he arrived in Fusion or one of the other Dimensions."
"Dad…" Yuya said holding in a sob while Yuzu just placed a hand on his shoulder.
"And so since then I've been running this company to fight my father, using this up and coming Arc League Championship to recruit the most promising duelist of this generation for what I call the Lancers."
"Because we'd be the tip of the spear leading the charge against the forces of Academia." Eddie stated.
"Correct, a small strike force that was intended to go to the other Dimension and recruit help against Academia once the Transporter is fully fixed," Reiji said. "Though while it is not ready to transport groups of people, it can still tap into the digital networks of the other Dimensions, which is how we learned that Academia attacked and invaded the Xyz Dimension three months ago."
"No..." Yuzu said.
"And from it we got this video clip," Reiji said as he pressed his keyboard and the window turned into a screen.
"Good afternoon everyone, we are currently at Heartland Park, where the finale of the inter-school championship between Spade and Clover is about to happen, the finalists Kaito Tenjou and Sh-"
*BOOM*
"What was that?"
The camera turned and in the distance standing above the buildings Eddie saw the massive form of-
She clenched her fist so hard she could feel her nails drawing blood, at the sight of Chaos Ancient Gear Giant loomed over the stadium, a beam building in its arm cannon.
A beam that, when fired, wiped out an entire swath of buildings, before the camera was knocked over in the ensuing chaos, screams echoing out before the feed went dark.
"...I knew it." Eddie said, eyes searing a hole in the place that had been held by one of her mainstays, used as a weapon of mass destruction.
"Why?" Yuya said as he fell to his knees in shock. "Why would they do something like this… This isn't what Duel Monsters is for… it's for bringing smiles on peoples faces, not… not hurting people."
"Unfortunately, Yuya." Eddie said. "Humanity's been using Duel Monsters, or at least the spirits of them, for this since the times of Pharaoh Atem. Manipulating Ba of living creatures to summon them forth from the realm of Duel Spirits as Ka, as weapons. And while the means may have changed, clearly humanity hasn't."
"You are a very educated person about this, Hawthorne," Reiji said.
"Duel Spirits?" Yuzu asked. "That's an actual thing?"
"I've talked with mine." Eddie said. "Remember how I got really mad when you used Solemn Judgment? There's a reason for that. The summoner reflects the summons reflects the summoner. Or, as you might know it, a duelist is their deck."
"Dad said that when I was growing up, Heart of the Cards and all that."
"You have communicated with your Duel Spirits? Impressive, I've attempted to commune with my deck, but with no luck."
"Your real deck or just one of the ones you've used in your public appearances?" Eddie asked.
"Those were vehicles of training to master my true deck, you will see it in a few days," Reiji said.
"I'm curious to see what a savant like you has planned." Eddie said. "Especially after seeing… that."
"Can we go home now?" Yuzu asked. "This is a lot, and Yuya… is not okay right now."
Eddie looked at him at that, and immediately agreed. "Just lemme write a note for Reiji and then yes, we're going home."
He raised an eyebrow, but he took out some pen and paper for her.
"I wanna test something." Eddie said, writing out one name on the inside of a piece of paper and then folding it up neatly. "Don't read this till we leave." She said as she handed it over.
He took it and they left.
—
After he confirmed that Eden Hawthorn(A real thorn in his side), Yuya Sakaki, and Yuzu Hirragi had left LDS with Yoko Sakaki, he opened up the note that Eden Hawthorne left him.
Joan d'Arc.
"...There might be something to what those at the Prediction School are talking about."
—
Three days later.
After learning about Academia and seeing that gruesome footage of what happened in Xyz, Eddie knew that Yuya had been shaken as all of it went against the boy's worldview.
That Duel Monsters was good.
That it was supposed to make dueling people happy.
Make them smile.
She'd been doing her damndest to both cheer him up, and show him that yes that's what Dueltainning was all about, using the metaphor of a scalpel to show that just because something was used for violence doesn't mean it can't be used for good.
And a constant reiteration that Academia was doing things wrong. That Yusho had made Dueling about what Yuya believed in.
And it helped a little, but the boy was still wearing his goggles for most of the day.
And to make it worse they couldn't really talk with others about, as Reiji had sent a message to the three of them, to not talk about it.
She had, of course, ignored him and immediately clued in Yoko to the possible location of her missing husband, but beyond Yoko they decided not to expand the number of secret keepers, for now.
Didn't want to make Reji's job harder as he had hell of time explaining and covering up Sora.
Having gone with "This was an advanced solid vision program to simulate a duel against an AI we were making for a new experience at a Kaibaland Maiami that would soon be built, and this was just a test drive for publicity. Along with the others."
Meaning he had to fake (or actually make, she wasn't sure) a bunch of those too.
Thankfully, at least one good thing came from all that, Eddie had definitely figured out Fusion Summoning, but a conversation with Ixchel had confirmed her suspicions- she hadn't beaten the 'Alchemist Duelist' so she hadn't earned The First Darklord.
Eddie had that damn duel in the bag, she'd just set Forbidden Droplet, just one more turn and…!
Speculation like that didn't help much.
Speaking of helping, Yuzu had asked her to tag along in buying some candy for a movie night thing at You Show, since it really was a giant clubhouse, and Yuya needed as many pick-me-ups as he could get.
And with the combination of Yuzu's gimped fusionless deck, and the fact Eddie hadn't gotten to have any one-on-one time with her, she'd obviously said yes.
"...And so Yuya, eight years old, is trying to learn how to ride on Odd-Eyes, and just immediately crashes into the ball pit he forgot the field had, sending both of them butt up first." Yuzu finished retelling a memory of her watching Yuya train with his monsters.
Eddie snorted. "That sounds adorable. Did anyone get pictures of those days?"
"Dad and most definitely Auntie Yoko have pictures of all the embarrassing moments…and also all the good moments, so I think he needs to go through a photo album to remind himself what he is dueling for." Yuzu said.
"That sounds like a great idea." Eddie agreed. "We'll have to ask Yoko for those."
"We have to," Yuzu agreed. "The video shocked Yuya hard, and seeing that, and just before that seeing you duel against that Sora kid, he was throwing out powerful fusion monsters left and right, but you were just countering them left and right. If it had been me, I would have lost on turn three… I am so weak."
"You are not weak." Eddie immediately corrected her. "You're using a deck that revolves around fusion monsters without your fusion monsters. You're literally fighting with both arms tied behind your back. We just have to get you in a duel with an Alchemist and maybe entreat the Spirits a bit and you should be able to figure it out."
"Alchemist?"
"Sorry, Fusion duelist. The Spirits call them Alchemists."
"...That is still weird to hear, and I saw you do it." Yuzu said.
"You did?" Eddie asked in surprise. She was pretty sure she'd been doing that alone.
"Heard you last night, talking in the Duel Arena, and you were getting responses, that wasn't from a phone on the speaker," Yuzu admitted.
"I literally only know you guys and Akaba so that's a good assumption." Eddie said. "You should try it sometime. Pick either your favorite or the one you use the most, or do the best option and just… draw and summon. Since you can actually Destiny Draw."
"I will try that out tomorrow." Yuzu answered.
And then they overheard something that ruined her rising mood.
"Man did you hear Sawatari earlier today, all 'with my improved deck, I the great and magnificent Sawatari is going to destroy Yuya Sakaki'."
"Yeah, I can't wait for that to happen, Sakaki is such a cheater, why does only he have Pendulum cards, that is so unfair."
"So would you like to tell Leo Corps' top scientists they need to work faster when they're being asked to decode a brand new summoning type?" Eddie asked as she leaned into the conversation, immediately jumping to Yuya's defense. "Or perhaps you'll just have to actually learn to duel your way out of a paper bag?"
"It's the Bad Angel!"
"Run away before she makes us disappear!"
"Hey you get back here!" Yuzu shouted as she started running after the two goons only to be stopped by a hand on her shoulder. "We should go after them, so that we can teach Sawatari and the rest a lesson."
"And let all the chocolate melt in the sun?" Eddie asked, motioning to the bags of candy they were still holding. Using a bit of misdirection to her advantage.
"...How about you go back with the candy, and I go and beat them up?"
"In Duel Monsters?"
"..."
"Yuzu I feel like you could hold your own in a duel but in a physical fight I can not in good conscience leave you alone."
"Jump kick Sawatari again and I will be satisfied."
"I only got physical because they got physical, it's a really bad idea to react to all threats or criticism with violence. As in, 'never duel again because you're in juvie', bad idea." Eddie said.
"Destroying his Ego in a duel it is then," Yuzu said while Eddie just sighed. She couldn't stop this.
"Alright, let's do this."
It wasn't hard to track them down.
Apparently Sawatari had turned an abandoned warehouse nearby into his own personal hangout.
"Sawatari!" Yuzu shouted as she opened the door to the place.
"Wagh!" The four teens shouted in surprise at intrusion into their crib.
"You hundredth rate duelist, with a two-hundred rate deck, I challenge you to a duel!" She continued.
"...it's a third-rate duelist with a fourth-rate deck, get the quote right," Sawatari said as he got back up on his feet.
"Ah, a man of culture I see." Eddie said with a nod. Anyone who could quote Kaiba immediately raised a rank in her mental opinion chart.
"...what are you two even doing here?" He asked.
"Challenging you to a duel, I heard your minions talking smack at Yuya."
"Minions?" The three asked, insulted.
"Minions, mooks, goons, henchmen. Take your pick." Eddie said.
"You make it sound like we hang with him only because of his money?"
"We don't?"
"...I shall ignore that," Sawatari said. "Well Yuya's girlfriend-."
"I am not his girlfriend!"
"-if it is a duel you want it is a duel you shall have." He said as he activated his duel disk.
Though as Yuzu was about to activate his own, a hand suddenly was placed on her arm stopping her from putting on her duel disk, and it was a person that Eddie had not noticed or seen entering the warehouse. "Please do not, I have business with this one."
"Huh, who are you?" Yuzu asked in shock. "And hey this is my duel."
"Like I said, I have business with this one." The boy said as he pointed at Sawatari. "I will be dueling him."
"Yuzu, let him have it, this Mysterious Stranger clearly has bigger beef." Eddie said as she gently pulled Yuzu aside, before whispering in her ear. "Also I'm getting a really weird vibe off this guy, let's observe first to gather intel."
"Do you think?" She whispered back.
"Maybe. Let's watch and see."
"So Zoro here is not with you?" Sawatari asked. "Well doesn't matter, you shall just be a good warm up for the new and improved Neo Sawatari!"
"Oh he's about to get thraaaashed~." Eddie whispered excitedly. Pride goeth before the fall.
"I shall allow you the honor of going first," Sawatari said as the unknown boy activated his disk, and from her current position Eddie could see that was not the standard model that he had.
Sawatari LP: 8000/Stranger LP: 8000.
"That is good with me," The Stranger said. "I set five cards and end my turn."
"Set 5 pass?!" Eddie laughed excitedly with a little clap, not able to smother her reaction.
"Are you mocking me?" Sawatari asked. "But you truly are unlucky, my deck was modified to better fight against Sakaki, so thanks to you having more than 2 spell and trap cards on the field, I can Special Summon, Escher the Frost Vassal. I will then release it to Advance Summon Mobius the Frost Monarch! And when he is Advance Summoned I can destroy two spell and traps on the field, and look at that I can see five. Let's go furthest right and left."
And as the card flipped in that brief instant she could see that it was Emergency Provisions and Mystical Space Typhoon.
"Next I shall activate the Spell Card - Advance Carnival, allowing me to Advance Summon once more this turn!"
"Here it comes!"
"Sawatri's new card!"
"The one meant to trash Cheating Yuya!"
"Yes, here it comes, I shall Advance Summon, Mobius the Mega Monarch(2800/1000)! And since I used a monster that was advanced summoned, I need to only release one monster. And since I used a water monster, you can't respond to his summon and effect, if you were keeping those cards in reserve, they now go… Bye-Bye as Mobius the Mega Monarch destroys the other three cards!"
The wind of Mobius roared as the other three cards were destroyed and while she couldn't see the art or names due to the snow, she could see the color of them, and they were trap cards.
"Isn't the wind a little too strong?" Yuzu whispered to her. "It's like with…"
With that realization Eddie's smile immediately dropped as she put her full attention on the unusual duelist. She'd already had a hunch, but now she had some confirmation.
"Now for the Battle Phase, I attack with Mobius the Mega Monarch directly!" Sawatari declared.
"I," The stranger spoke up for the first time since his turn had ended. "Activate the effect of my trap cards in the graveyard."
"In the graveyard?" Sawatari asked in confusion. Which was really dumb considering how many of his cards could activate in the graveyard.
"When I am target for a direct attack, I can summon my three copies of The Phantom Knights of Shadow Veil, as monsters to my field in defense position (0ATK/300DEF)." The stranger said, and Eddie was immediately on her feet, staring at the back of the stranger's head as the ghostly mounted knights galloped onto the field.
He was using her deck.
"Tsch, you got yourself a defensive line, Mobius resumes his attack, Mega Monarch Ice Drill!" One of the Shadow Veils was destroyed. "Main Phase 2, I set a card and end my turn."
"I draw." The Stranger said. "I thought you would put up more of a fight."
"What?"
"Your dueling has no bite, it's like you're swinging around a dull sword, or trying to shoot with a water gun," The Stranger said. "So this duel is over."
"What, are you saying you're surrendering?"
"No, I am saying this is the last turn. I will use both of my Level 4 Phantom Knights of Shadow Veil to create the Overlay Network!" The stranger declared and in the center of the field, Eddie saw a familiar gate of anti-matter forming, a hole to summon forth beasts from an entirely different world, and she could feel it resonating inside of her. "From the pitch-black darkness. Rise up against the foolish oppression, Fang of Rebellion! Descend now! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(2500ATK/2000DEF)!"
Well, there went her theory that Yuya would be using those cards.
More pressingly, she could feel the exact same feeling she got from Odd-Eyes.
A ferocious and incredibly territorial Duel Spirit. Though this one felt significantly more volatile than Odd-Eyes.
"Eddie?" Yuzu asked.
"Dangerous." Eddie said lowly, eyes not leaving the apex predator in front of her. And she wasn't talking about the dragon. "This guy is very, very dangerous… but I don't know if he's a bad guy yet."
"Xyz summoning?" The goons asked.
"But only the top students at LDS get access to those."
"I detach an Overlay Unit from Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, which allows me to target a Level 5 or higher monster on the field, cutting its attack in half and adding to my dragon's attack points."
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(2500ATK 3900ATK)
Mobius the Mega Monarch(2800ATK 1400ATK)
"Your dragon might be stronger, but it is still not enough-"
"I detach an Overlay Unit from Dark Rebellion Xyz to do it once again," The Stranger said.
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon(3900ATK 4600ATK)
Mobius the Mega Monarch(1400ATK 700ATK)
"Battle Phase, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, attack with Rebel Fangs!"
The dragon roared as the horns beneath its jaws glowed with purple lightning.
"...You fool you fell for it, I activate the Trap Card - Magic Cylinder!"
"Let's hear it for the OG!" Eddie could not stop herself from cheering.
"It negates its attack, and you take damage equal to your monster's attack!"
Sawatari LP: 8000/Stranger LP: 3400
"Haha, feel the might of Neo Swatari, your Xyz Monster, can't stand up to some good old fashioned Battle Traps."
"Since the attack of my monster was negated, I activate the Quick-Play Spell Card - Double or Nothing. Let me borrow your strength."
"...Oh no." Eddie whispered in horrific realization. She damn well knew who that card belonged to.
"This allows my Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon to attack again this time with double the amount of attack points."
(4600ATK 9200ATK)
"That is enough." Yuzu said, more to fill the suddenly deadly quiet than anything.
"Super Rebel Fang!" The stranger said as the dragon attacked the monsters resulting in the icy body of Mobius exploding. And not into pixels.
Eddie turned and wrapped herself around Yuzu to shield her body as best she could, waiting for impact-!
"...Sorry about that," Eddie heard the Stranger speak, causing her to let go of the very confused Yuzu, looking back to see the stranger who was now in the middle of removing his now broken mask and goggles.
And she saw Yuya's face.
The hair and eyes were different, that was the same face.
"Yuya?" Eddie asked in surprise.
He looked confused.
"Wait, lemme guess, four letter name, two syllables, starts with 'Yu'." Eddie said.
"Wait Yuya?" Yuzu asked in confusion as she looked at the boy.
"Yuto, and… you are nøt her are you?" He asked as he looked at Yuzu.
"Huh?"
"It's nothing." as he walked over to Sawatari who was clutching his head.
"Why did that feel like an Action Duel?" Sawatari looked up. "Sakaki?"
"You are with LDS? Right?"
"I am, you should already-"
"And all members of LDS have this insignia on them," Yuto said as he held up a… huh she hadn't noticed it before but they did all have little buttons on their collar.
"Yeah, what is it to you?"
"What is LDS and Leo Corporation's relationship to Academia?"
"Yuto." Eddie said, having walked up behind him. "Sawatari doesn't know anything, I do. I can get you answers."
"Who are you?"
Well at least confirmed she didn't have dimensional clones running about. Probably.
"Eden Hawthorne, friends call me Eddie. Resident expert on the real mechanics of Duel Monsters… and 'D.D's'."
"D… you know about?"
She held a finger up to her lips. "Keeping it quiet for now, but yes. Come on, I have someone you definitely need to meet."
"Do you trust her?" He asked Yuzu.
"Yeah," Yuzu replied, still sounding very, very confused about what was happening. "Eddie is our big sister."
"Then I will follow you."
"Urgh… why me…"
"Good, come on, I'll get you filled in." Eddie said, leading them out of the warehouse. "I think you're gonna wanna meet your… counterpart."
"Counterpart… I guess Ruri isn't the only one who shares a face," Yuto said.
"You'd be right." Eddie said as they walked.
"So you aren't Yuya that suddenly decided to go emo?"
"I am not emo…" Yuto sulked. "And no I am not this Yuya, and you aren't Ruri."
"No, I am Yuzu."
"And that is You Show." Eddie said as they finally made it within visual distance of the school. "Founded by Yusho… still love that pun."
"...As in Yusho Sakaki?" He asked, and as he did suddenly a pink light bloom from beside Eddie, and she turned around to see Yuzu's bracelet light up and suddenly her hand was empty.
And Yuto was just gone.
"Yuzu, bring him back right now."
"I don't know what happened, my bracelet suddenly just-"
"Yuzu, Eddie, where were you? You are usually not this slow," Yuya's voice said as he came out of the elevator.
"Things just happened. Big things. He's in the Xyz." Eddie said.
"Huh?"
—
Eddie closed the door of the supply closet they'd had their first talk in, locking it behind her.
"So what is happening?" Yuya asked.
"I am confused too, there are suddenly two of you, and there is apparently another me."
"Huh?"
"Okay, as best I can understand, you two have counterparts across the dimensions. It wouldn't surprise me if there's a Fusion and Synchro Yuya and Yuzu too, but the Xyz ones are clearly Yuto and Ruri. Yuto, your XYZ counterpart, had beef with Sawatari or at least LDS, probably because of Academia, and is looking for Ruri. He used a card I recognize as belonging to Yuma Tsukumo, an Xyz duelist, and he said 'let me borrow your strength'. Considering what we saw, that means bad things for the Xyz dimension, and most importantly to you, Yuya? He knew Yusho's name."
Yuya's face became shocked. "Dad is in Xyz?"
"At minimum he was recently, I'd bet he's been there trying to find a way back home or has been actively fighting Academia, going off how Yuto said his name. Oh and also, he had an Xyz counterpart to Odd-Eyes. Not as in, an Odd-Eyes card, as in an XYZ doppelganger the same way he was of you. Same face, different colors."
"Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon." Yuzu said. "It did feel like Odd-Eyes, but kinda darker. But…" She trailed off.
"So uh where is he?" Yuya asked.
"I'm not sure, but Yuzu's bracelet flashed and he disappeared in a flash of pink, less science like Sora and more magicky, implying she is tied to the other dimensions somehow. You too, probably, with the Pendulum Genesis and all."
"So are you saying we are, like, more important?" Yuya asked.
"That sounds kinda arrogant? How can we be more important than other people?" Yuzu asked.
"I don't think it's fair to say 'more important', but…" Eddie thought hard about the feeling she got off of Dark Rebellion, and then the feeling she got from Odd-Eyes, and if she'd been honing that sense properly… "His dragon felt like it was siblings with your Dragon. Like you're… linked, directly. Maybe a single very powerful soul from the Spirit World that got split across the four dimensions? Something like that." Something about that felt a little off to her. Wasn't there something with Odd-Eyes and Rebellion…?
"Honestly if we didn't know that other versions of people exist thanks to you Eddie, I would start to think our dads got frisky with other women," Yuzu said.
"Hey Yuzu can I see your fan real quick?"
"Sure why?" Yuzu asked as she handed it over, and how she hid that thing Eddie didn't know.
Smack!
"Thank you." Eddie said, handing the fan back to the very confused girl.
"Wow I never thought I'd see Yuzu be on the receiving end of her own fan."
Smack!
"Shut up Yuya."
"...I think we needed that. So why did Yuzu's bracelet teleport other-me away?" Yuya asked.
"I'm not sure, it happened right when we mentioned Yusho… but that was also right before you came out." Eddie said. "There might be a 'never the two shall meet' kinda thing and the bracelet's unrelated… but… hmm…"
"Do you think if we met our counterparts we would get sponged like D4C does in Steel Ball Run?" Yuya asked.
"Potentially, also, good job with your classic lit."
"Araki-sensei's works are mandatory reading," Yuzu said.
"Hmm, so that means we need to test it then." Eddie said. "Test 1, we walk away, you stay here, see if he pops back in. Test 2? We start getting a little weird."
Yuya and Yuzu looked at her in concern.
"So let's go! Yuya you stay here, be ready for a phone call." Eddie said as she got up and unlocked the closet door.
And they quickly returned to the spot.
And Yuto did not reappear, even when they walked a bit further away.
"Okay, Test 2, let's get weird!" Eddie said as they went back in and grabbed Yuya, heading for the Field. "Yuzu, could you give me your bracelet please?"
"Uhm sure, just give it back, I've had it all my life," She said as she took it off.
Eddie took it gently. "Alright, let's see if this does anything…" She said, stepping away from them, holding the bracelet in her palm.
She breathed out. "...Let the forces align. The earth cries out for mercy as tyranny rises in the heavens. The heavens respond, and are cast out for righteous justice. But where light falls, the shadows must rise! Darklord Uprising!"
The bracelet lit up in pink and purple energy and then Eddie felt her vision blur for a second and then…
"How did you get in my room?!" Yuzu-but-not-Yuzu screamed.
Eddie pulled apart her hands and noted she did not have the bracelet any more. "...I might have just made a horrible mistake."
