Chapter 14: Blake's truth

It was a whole week after Goku contacted them and Onyx has been training his ass off while his mood improved significantly, this was something that everyone noticed because he was smiling more while having a more energetic attitude to the point it was kinda endearing to everyone. Pyrrha of course was static about this, she hasn't seen her brother in such high spirits for a while.
The last time the Mistralian champion saw her brother with this kind of attitude was when he got his car and she felt happy too, Goku was back in their lives once more! She couldn't wait to tell her mother but right now, she was sitting in the Combat classroom as Onyx got permission to use it because he wanted to spar.
Onyx was stretching as Yang entered the circle, also stretching and grinning. Yang wasn't going to lie but she was excited to get in a good fight against someone who knew how to throw an actual punch, she had this itch that needed to be scratched and Onyx was going to be the one scratching it.
"Are you ready for this pretty boy?" Yang grins as she gets ready.
"More than ready for anything you throw at me Yang" Onyx bounces from feet to feet as he lowers his stance and gets into his fighting position.
"Don't cry when you lose~" Yang winks playfully.
"Alright you two, I want a good clean fight!" Ruby says, raising her arm.
"That includes no KI or semblance or any shenanigans" Weiss says uninterested, filling her nails.
"Three two one GO!" Nora makes a quick count for the start.
Yang immediately goes for the attack with a straight right that Onyx deflects with his right arm and counters with a left elbow strike. Yang ducks, smirking while she follows up with an uppercut but Onyx leans back, dodging the uppercut and letting himself fall. The young Saiyan lands on his hands while he extends his legs into a gut kick that lands on Yang yet she regains her bearings quickly and answers with an axe kick to the semi prone Onyx.
Onyx rolls to the side and jumps into his feet while making a backflip handspring to make some space, sadly for him, Yang was already on top on his, delivering a quick punch to the face that staggers him long enough for Yang to deliver a roundhouse kick right into his side of the head.
The young Saiyan felt himself falling to the ground so he thought quickly, using his hand to avoid the rough landing and immediately doing a sweeping kick that Yang dodges by jumping but he wasn't finished as he immediately got into his knees, launching himself into a knee strike right that struck the blonde's chin.
Yang took a few steps back and rubbed her chin, she didn't expect that quick of a recovery but she didn't care that much, she was having fun and she was sure Onyx was having fun too.
Onyx by his side of things, he was also having fun. Yang had a similar style to his when it came to fighting: Hit hard but from her sparring matches in class he knows she can become overconfident when winning so he started working on a plan as he stepped forward again with a quick jab.
The blonde brawler deflected the jab without much effort with her forearm, leaving Onyx wide open for a gut punch with her right fist that she in fact was more than happy to deliver. Yang, being the cocky fighter that she was, started beating Onyx up with a combination of kicks and punches, laying more punches than kicks that is.
The older sister of the Xiao Long/Rose Household felt really confident to the point she was being overconfident at the sight of Onyx getting beaten by her that she lowered her guard long enough when she delivered another gut punch…just as he predicted.
The young Saiyan bent over as the air of his lungs left him but he wasn't done, far from it as he immediately grasped Yang's right hand. Yang's eyes opened wide when this happened, she didn't expect him to still have strength to go on.
This was the mistake that Yang made, to think she had Onyx and not making a follow up, she quickly realized it when his iron grip didn't let her step back. Not wanting to be trapped she pulled her left arm to punch him in the face but she was instantly struck in the chin by Onyx's tail once more.
Her head felt like it was spinning around by that tail strike and it felt even more dizzy when he followed up with a strong forearm strike to the right side of her head. Yang felt her legs like jelly, she got way too cocky but after she didn't get an extra attack from he opponent she regained her bearings.
Anger would be what she felt as Onyx taunted her with his hand, was he trying to toy with her?! No way she would let herself be humiliated by this one. Letting out a roar of frustration and anger, she dashed forward and started doing a barrage of punches but she didn't notice that her frustration was making her predictable as she didn't use any kicks at all, she didn't add variety to her attacks.
The first five attacks were blocked by Onyx who quickly learned the pattern that the frustrated Blonde was doing unconsciously and it finally started. Her attacks started missing as Onyx started dodging them, weaving to one side, to the other, ducking or leaning to each side.
"Well…it looks like my brother has won" Pyrrha points out.
"How can you tell?" Weiss asks, raising an eyebrow.
"It's pretty easy to see when you are a martial artist" Ren crosses his arms "The fact that Onyx is not getting hit means that he already has a read on Yang's moves. There is also the other fact that Yang is getting sloppier and very predictable"
"Yay! Team O-JNPR for the win!" Nora cheers in a braggy way to Weiss, Ruby and Blake.
"No way! My sister is going to win!" Ruby sticks her tongue out.
Yang let out a frustrated grunt, she couldn't land any hits anymore and this pissed her off even more. Onyx on his part, was grinning with the objective of annoying Yang even more and it was working because she got even more angry, not focusing on what she was doing wrong.
It came out of nowhere for Yang, she first got hit by a quick roundhouse from the right to then get struck again in the right again by a follow up heel kick and then a third kick, another roundhouse. Yang did block the third kick successfully but it was all part of Onyx's plan as he used his momentum to flip over and deliver a overhead kick, one of the moves he developed since he was a kid.
The blonde girl's face met the ground with a loud thud after she got struck on top of her head, she was seeing stars when she rolled into her back only to Onyx to mount her and make a knifehand strike to her throat only to stop before it hit her.
"Yield" Onyx orders.
"Y-yeah…you got me good" Yang says a little shaken, she wasn't used to losing at all but she knew when she lost.
"Good fight" Onyx gets off her and offers his hand to help her get up.
"It was fun until I started losing" Yang accepts the hand and gets up.
"Man, I can't believe that Yang lost" Ruby pouts as she approaches alongside everyone else who was watching.
"But it was such a cool fight" Jaune compliments the two.
"Yeah, well, losing sucks" Yang grumbles under her breath.
"Yes, but I'm curious, how does Ki work exactly? I didn't see you use it at all" Weiss inquires.
It was a good question actually. As far as they understand and see, Onyx has used Ki to shoot blasts and fly but they don't know a lot besides that.
"Ki empowers my whole body like Aura, the stronger and larger reserves my Ki gets, the stronger I get but unlike Aura, it doesn't give me a rapid healing and I can suppress my Ki" Onyx explains "Also, if I shot blast or make a technique, it chips down at my Ki reserves, like semblances do"
"Wait, so that means that you actually train to increase your Ki?" Ren asks, intrigued by Onyx's statement and even more when he nods.
"That's…impractical" Weiss admits.
"Yeah, we all learned that increasing Aura is kinda pointless" Nora points out.
"That is true but this is Ki that we are talking about, it's two different things" Blake adds her two cents to the conversation.
"Quite, I can tell the differences now thanks to Jaune" Pyrrha prepares to give an explanation.
"What do ya mean Pyrha?" Ruby was curious about Pyrrha's statement.
Pyrrha takes a few seconds to prepare her words without giving away something she shouldn't.
"During the initiation, I gauged Janue's reserves since he told me that he got his aura unlocked recently since he started training late and I was surprised that his reserves are large, the largest I ever seen but unlike Ki, my brother had to start with very little and got winded fast" Pyrrha gives a half-lie explanation.
"That's pretty much it, I cannot tell the size of one's Aura but I can tell that Aura varies from person to person by how much they can take during combat training, some take less hits to get it down while others take more" Onyx shares his experience. "And yes, I train to increase my Ki reserves and strengthen them since are both are tied together it's like an exchange, the more Ki I used to strengthen my body, the more I use from my reserves so it only makes sense that I increase the tank"
"That's incredible, no wonder you can get so strong dude" Jaune pats Onyx's back and gives him thumbs up.
"Can anyone learn how to use Ki?" Blake asks.
Everyone gets silent at the question since no one actually wondered if it was possible but the mere idea was exciting, especially for Ruby and Nora who wanted to shoot explosions; Ren was also excited but for other reasons, maybe if he got strong enough he could avenge his parents and his town.
"We are not sure" Pyrrha rubs the back of her neck.
"My master said it could lead to some problems since it's two different energies that empower the body to the point it could damage it beyond repair and wanted to study it a little more before giving a conclusion" Onyx explains "But now that he is back…maybe we'll learn"
"Damage it? How could getting another boost damage our bodies?" Yang asks, not believing what she was hearing.
"I suppose it sounds stupid but in theory, it makes sense, Aura empowers the body and so does Ki but too much power can strain the body and without the proper training…you are a broken mess" Onyx tries to explain.
"I still don't get it" Ruby scratches her head confused.
"Maybe you should explain with the river thing brother" Pyrrha nudges Onyx with her elbow.
"Oh yeah, It's easier that way I guess" Onyx clears his throat a little "The body is like a riverbed where the Ki and Aura is the water, add too much water it starts overflowing but won't make too much damage but if you add a violent surge of water, like a mix of aura and ki, the riverbed will start breaking, torn apart by the rapid and violent flow of water"
There was a wince in the faces of everyone at the explanation that the Saiyan gave them, it made some sense now, if the body can't contain all that power and the surge of it…it will start breaking down to the point it would be bad, really bad.
Ren was a little disappointed with this because as a martial artist himself, he aims to improve himself and the craft and Ki is a goal for martial arts practitioners. He cursed internally because he found a way to get stronger but it was a risk…he wished he meet Goku before he started his huntsman training so he could…he shook his head, he didn't need to fill himself with negativity since it's just a theory so he'll hold on hope that Onyx's Master will find a way to mix both.
The sound of a stomach surprised everyone but they quickly realized who it came from.
"Man, I'm really hungry, sparring built up quite the appetite" Onyx laughs a little.
"Only you brother" Pyrrha rolls her eyes as he starts laughing too
"It's close to noon so I guess lunch is coming soon" Jaune says after he looks at the time.
"Maybe we should go and get something to eat" Ren offers.
"Pancakes!" Nora exclaims what she wants to eat.
"You guys go ahead, Weiss wants to take us down to Vale and observe the preparations for the Festival" Yang says while also making air quotes on the word observe.
"Shush you" Weiss rolls her eyes.
"Anyway, it was fun guys, we'll see ya soon!" Ruby smiles as she waves her hand and walks away with her team. Blake only gave a courteous nod.
Both teams headed on different ways and for O-JNPR it was a pretty uneventful day aside from Onyx and Nora basically making a eating competition to see who ate more, Nora of course lost and didn't want to know anything about pancakes until the next day while Onyx went for thirds.
When the evening approached, the team stayed on their room, Nora napping, Ren meditating while Onyx, his sister and Jaune did homework or simply studied to get ahead of schedule since soon they will start getting the students from other academies thanks to the Vytal Festival and that meant that there will be more time consuming activities to come like join practices and extra classes.
Everything was going fine and dandy until there was a screaming match in team RWBY's room, meaning that RWBY finally got back and that something was going on and by the voices…they could tell it was Weiss and Blake having this heated discussion.
Onyx was annoyed by this, he already had trouble studying and all that screaming was making it even harder, even Nora was woken up. So he stood up and walked out of their room, Ren, Nora, Jaune and his sister right behind him.
To their luck, the door was open and they watched how Weiss and Blake screamed at each other and what this was about. Faunus.
They heard how Weiss explained that she was targeted by the White Fang and everyone associated with her family has a bullseye on their back to the point that people disappeared and her father, not the kindest man in the world, comes back angry and makes things difficult for a child.
Onyx couldn't help but frown at this, he never liked Jacques Schnee but it sounded like he took all the frustration on their family and he could tell it wasn't anything physical but rather emotional, no wonder Weiss didn't like her father but what happened next, changed everything for everyone.
"Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!" Bake yells but quickly realizes the mistake she made as silence takes the center stage.
Finally it clicked for Onyx, why Blake felt so familiar to him, why he had a gut feeling about her…her words revealed her identity, she was a faunus but not only that. His eyes hardened and a surge of anger invaded him, Pyrrha noticed this and tried to grab his shoulder but it was too late
"I…I…" Blake stutters, words failing her and tries to run away through the door.
Blake barely makes it to the door when a strong side kick to her stomach sends her flying back into, crashing into a wall, she drops to the ground holding her belly and panting. Onyx was the one who threw the kick and quickly stepped forward.
"Blake!" Ruby exclaims worried
"Onyx what the hell man?!" Yang tries to block Onyx but the look on his eyes makes her stop and freeze.
Everyone froze at the look on his eyes…if the glare he gave Cardin was dangerous…this was even more since he certainly looked like he was going to kill someone. Pyrrha's knees gave and used Jaune as support, she knows that look and she doesn't like it.
"So that's why your energy felt so similar" Onyx tone was cold as an iceberg, sending an icy shiver down everyone's spine "You were on that tournament during the attack"
"Wa-" Blake tries to speak but what Onyx does next makes her freeze in fear.
Onyx aimed his palm at the former White Fang member, charging a ki blast with all the intention of killing her in cold blood. The energy was palpable and they knew that something like this wasn't a joke or a bluff, Onyx was ready to kill Blake.
"Onyx, please don't" Ruby begs Onyx but he ignores her, charging more the Ki blast on his hand.
"Brother…please…" Pyrrha begs her brother, trying to make him see reason.
"Come on man, it's not worth it" Nora also tries but words fell to deaf ears
Weiss was speechless, she couldn't even imagine that this would be happening today or that Onyx would react so violently.
"Please…I can explain…just…hear me out…" Blake gets her words out despite the pain she was feeling.
"Get up" Onyx orders with his cold voice.
Blake does so, scared out of her mind. She knew that all she did was going to come back and bite her but she didn't expect that it would be so soon, especially that her life would be at the stake of a vengeful Faunus. Onyx on the other hand, he had plans for her already since he remembers very well the first day he arrived at Vale and that toll stop at the gates of the city.
The White Fang is active on the city and he was sure he was going to pay them a visit, Blake, being a member in his eyes, surely knew about bases and hideouts that he could exterminate but deep inside…The Saiyan wanted to know more about Blake, he did want to hear her pleas since he didn't feel any malice on Blake but regret and guilt.
Normally he would have blasted her away just by being associated with the attack but…she wasn't threatening him, nor his sister and she is good friends with Yang and Ruby so he should hear her out before he makes his decision but not here, somewhere else where no one will stop them.
"Fine, we'll talk" Onyx dissipates the Ki blast bug grabs her left wrist tightly.
"Wait, no!" Pyrrha and Ruby try to get a hold on Onyx only for it to be an after image.
"The window!" Jaune points out.
Onyx was on the window with Blake but he disappears once again
"Damn it!" Pyrrha curses as she falls on her knees.
"What was all that about Pyrrha?!" Yang finally gets her bearings and demands an explanation.
"It all happened at one of my tournaments…" Pyrrha takes a deep breath.
She told what happened during that tournament and this time, she didn't leave anything out, she told things like they were and to say that everyone was shocked was an understatement. Onyx when he loses himself to rage and anger was dangerous by what Pyrrha told them since he didn't hesitate even a little before firing that attack and killing their attackers in self defense.
They could understand why he did it because it was no secret that he loved his adopted family and would do anything to protect them but the fact that Pyrrha told them that he has never felt guilt or regret was troubling.
Meanwhile, Onyx just stepped into the courtyard with Blake, she had been silent for a while and only said that she needed time to find the right words to explain herself. The young Saiyan shook his head as he stared at the academy then back at Blake, he could feel the inner turmoil on the former White Fang member.
All that guilt, the regret, the self loathing, Onyx could sense it with Blake's energy and the expression on her face. This was one of the reasons why he decided to speak with her so he could judge her when the time is right. The adopted Nikos saw how Blake reached for her bow and took it off to reveal her Faunus trait, cat ears.
Onyx saw how she held the bow in her hand and tears in her eyes that she tried to dry…maybe he was wrong, maybe Blake didn't deserve his wrath at all; others certainly did but Blake? He felt like she shouldn't and also felt something: She didn't want to run away from her team but she was scared. Onyx knew that Blake wasn't a bad person, not in the White Fang anymore.
"I knew you would look better without the bow" A sudden voice says and both teenagers turn around to see who it was.
It was a Faunus and to Onyx's surprise, what he thought was a kin since it was also a Monkey faunus. He was around his height, blonde, spiky-ish hair with blue eyes. This guy was wearing an open white t-shirt with the sleeves rolled back, cargo jeans with the boots also rolled back and sneakers.
What surprised Onyx was the tail, it matched the stranger's hair unlike his own since it was brown while his hair was black. At first the Saiyan chastised himself for not sensing ki, lowering his guard but one look at the guy he could tell he wasn't a bad guy nor he looked White Fang.
"Can we help you?" Onyx asks.
"Nope, but maybe I can. Name's Sun Wukong, from Haven's academy and it's nice to see another Faunus like me" The stranger now identified as Sun makes a small presentation about himself.
"Yeah, it's actually nice to see I'm not the only one with this kind of tail but we really don't ne-" the young Saiyan tries to explain that they were fine but Blake cuts him off.
"I…we need a place to go, I-I can't be at the academy now nor I want to…" Blake seeks the help, she actually did sound desperate.
Onyx took a deep breath, it's not what he wanted but he would play along, maybe it could calm down Blake a bit and they could finally speak. There was also the fact that he was slightly annoyed by Sun's intervention, it's not that he believed Sun was a bad guy but he didn't trust him.
"I have a room rented down in the city, it has two extra beds for some reason" Sun offers them a place to stay in the meanwhile.
Blake nods nervously and Onyx just sighs, motioning with his hand to Sun to lead the way and the response from Sun was just a friendly yet a little playful smirk.

Two days later.

It's been two days since they took Sun's offer, so far he has shown that he meant it since he has been nothing but good to them to the point that Onyx relaxed around him but spent most of his time quite like Blake did but only spoke when he needed to unlike Blake. Sun kept asking the two to talk, wanting to know about them since both were Faunus like himself but Onyx refused to elaborate until Blake did so.
The trio is on a cafe, sitting on a balcony's table with Sun drinking tea and holding the cup with his tail; Blake and Onyx on the other hand used their hands. Blake takes a sip of her cup before giving the two a glance with her amber eyes.
"So…you two want to know more about me?" She finally speaks
"Finally" Sun raises his arms in victory and points at her with his cup "Nearly two days and all you've given is small talk and weird looks"
Blake narrows his eyes and gives Sun an annoyed glare.
"Yeah, like that" Sun points out, making the former White Fang member roll her eyes.
"I kinda forgot how her voice was if I'm honest" Onyx jokes slightly.
"So, you gonna talk too dude?" Sun asks.
"Only if she does first and she has a lot of explaining to do" Onyx shrugs as he gives Blake a slight glare.
"Like…?" Sun asks, a little confused now.
Blake takes a deep breath, she knows that she has to speak now, she's been procrastinating for two days already and she knew she wasn't being fair to herself, Sun and Onyx.
"Sun…are you familiar with the White Fang?" Blake asks.
"Of course! I don't think there's a Faunus on the planet who hasn't heard of them. Stupid, holier than thou creeps that use force to get whatever they want, bunch of freaks if you ask me" Sun slightly nods while letting her know his own opinion.
"Hear hear" Onyx agrees with Sun's description of the White Fang.
"I was once a member of the White Fang" Blake confesses making sun starts chocking on his tea.
"I can confirm that, that's why she has a lot of explaining to do" Onyx says, giving Blake another glare.
He was sure to never make her forget that he was very much aware of her involvement and that he needed answers from her, actual answers.
"I sense some animosity here…but for real? You were a member of the WHite Fang?!" Sun notices the glares that he sends to Blake but now as curious about this.
"That's right, I was a member most of my life, actually…You could almost say I was born into it" Blake explains.
This actually caught Onyx's attention, born into it? He could believe it as he started connecting dots, her family name is Belladonna after all. Both Sun and Onyx were silent while Blake explained about the White Fang origins after the great war, that it meant to be a symbol of peace and unity between Humans and Faunus but it was never like that since Humans still discriminated and hated Faunus.
The organization was made so they could be the voice and support for their kind. This was the White Fang that Onyx believed in, when Ghira was the high leader and made a peaceful protest that Blake admits was part of as a kid since she was on every single of them but she admits she was a young kid being optimistic because she believed they were making a change.
Then the subject of Ghira stepped down and Sienna Khan taking leadership with a new path forward, peace was out of the picture as organized attacks started happening, places where faunus were refused to get service were torched and hijacking cargo from companies that used Faunus labor.
Blake never mentioned names but Onyx knew what she meant, he was at the time very much on the White Fang forums but what sickened him the most was when Blake mentioned that it was working, Faunus were treated like equals out of fear and not respect. Onyx hated that, he saw how the forums he normally visited also mentioned that and cheered that kind of behavior.
"So I left, I decided I no longer wanted to use my skills to aid their violence and instead I would dedicate my life to becoming a huntress" Blake makes a small pause "So here I am, a criminal in plain view, all with the help of a little black bow"
Blake moves her ears that are hidden on her bow to make her point but she turned her head so she could speak to Onyx directly.
"I was at that day at the attack of the tournament, I was one of the scouting team before hand, I gave the White Fang all that information and made sure to mark where Civilians, security, high value targets from the Schnee family would be" Blake makes a pause to swallow "I was told the operation was to show the SDC that we wouldn't be oppressed anymore, scare them and get some SCD executives but not an actual all out war"
Onyx keeps his eyes on her, looking for any signs of a lie in her confession to see if it was genuine what she was saying or if she was trying to confuse him or being deceptive but he couldn't find anything.
"I…saw what they tried to do, attacking you and your family and to be honest…what you did…I'm scared of you, terrified" Blake makes another pause while taking a deep breath "What happened shouldn't have happened in the first place, the White Fang shouldn't have taken this path and I would have died to your attack like the rest if I didn't throw myself into the ground…Seeing what happened made me realize that I didn't want to be in the White Fang anymore, I cannot fight for something horrible and that is misleading our people"
Onyx took a deep breath, this wasn't what he expected and if he wasn't honest…that bar was low since he expected Blake to be a spy that infiltrated Beacon but he was wrong, he couldn't detect a single lie or that she was trying to convince him otherwise.
This also made the adopted Nikos realize something…the problem with the White Fang is not all the members but the higher ups that are leading the once peaceful group into terrorists who call themselves freedom fighters. What Blake said was true, the current White Fang was misleading Faunus into violence as some of his middle school classmates have joined the White Fang due to frustration thanks to the treatment they got in Argus.
"I…ran away from the Fang, i stayed longer because I wanted someone else to run with me but they believed in what they were doing…I just…I don't want the discrimination to continue but I cannot stand how the White Fang is acting, all the violence, all the-" Blake starts getting really agitated but onyx puts his pal in front of her face. Blake's color drains instantly but Onyx speaks.
"You don't have to give me an explanation Blake, I can tell that you are not like them and to be honest…I'm sorry if I scared you, I think you are pretty cool and I like you" He lowers his hand "Not like-like ala Nora with Ren or Jaune with Weiss but you get what I mean"
"Ye-yeah, of course" Blake stutters a little, she wasn't expecting that Onyx accepted her like this, she expected more of a pushback from him but there wasn't any and he even apologized for any trauma she got from him.
Maybe, just maybe Blake was scared of nothing and maybe if she talked with him beforehand, being honest she could have avoided so much trouble to begin with.
"So that's why there was some animosity" Sun nods to himself, taking a sip of his tea but then looks directly into Blake's eyes "And by his reaction…I take that none of your friends know that you were part of the White Fang"
Blake looked down in shame, she couldn't tell them because she was scared and it had been a while since she got friends that weren't part of the White Fang and she didn't want to lose them or rather, she didn't want to be judged by her past and she enjoyed the company of Yang, Ruby and even Weiss even if she got on her nerves.
The silence told Sun everything he wanted to know, taking a deep breath and finishing his cup of team.
"Why don't we go for a walk and clear our heads? That would work for ya" Sun offers.
"Yes…that would be nice" Blake nods
The three of them stand up but Onyx stumbles a little, feeling dizzy and has to use the table to support himself. Blake and Sun noticed this and quickly helped him.
"You okay dude? You don't look so good and have some nasty bags under your eyes, are you sure you are sleeping well?" Sun asks.
"Yeah…" Onyx nods, trying to brush it off
"You haven't eaten much" Blake's eyes opened wide when she realized that fact.
It was true, Onyx was barely eating considering his metabolism, the usual snack here and there and trash food that Sun has paid for them, it wasn't much but for someone like Onyx…he was starving. He hasn't felt like this since he was a kid and he could tell that his strength was getting lower by the hour.
"I forgot my wallet so I don't really have Lien with me" Onyx admits.
"Dude, if you are hungry you should just have told me, I can get you some lunch, I'll pay" Sun offers.
"No…I don't want you to go broke" Onyx refuses the offer.
"I can help pay, I have some cash on me" Blake also offers.
"I'm fine, let's just take a walk and see what we'll do after it" Onyx insists that he doesn't really need help, his hopes are that they return to Beacon soon now that Blake was opening herself.
After paying for the tea, the trio start walking around the city while Onyx starts retreating into his thinking box. He chastised himself for not taking his scroll with him, he could have written to Pyrrha or someone from his team to give him his wallet or give him some food but he totally forgot thanks to the anger he felt.
Anger, it's funny really since he remembers very well his master saying that anger is a key for him to reach a new peak in power…did he mean that maybe he needed to temper that anger? He wasn't sure but so far, he wasn't making clear decisions thanks to it and after his sparring with Yang, anger can lead to mistakes.
There is also the fact that he hasn't contacted his sister or team and they must be worried sick about him or Blake to the point that he feels a little guilty about this. His train of thought is interrupted by Sun's voice.
"So, what's the plan now?" Sun asks, his hands behind his head.
"I still don't believe the White Fang is behind these robberies. They've never needed that much dust before" Blake contemplates with her right hand on her chin.
"What if they did?" Sun asks, starting to theorize.
"I'm with Blake on this one, this isn't their MO unless the dust comes from the SDC" Onyx admits.
"That is true but I mean…the only way to prove that they didn't do it is to go to the place where they would most likely go to if they were to do it and not find them there…right?" Sun continues with his theory.
"The only thing is, I've no idea where that would be" Blake admits, a little discouraged.
"I read the news and watched on the TV, most Dust shops have been robbed and are closing during the time being while moving their storage to undisclosed locations" Onyx also adds his two cents.
"Well, while I was on the ship, I heard some guys talking about offloading a huge shipment of Dust coming from Atlas" Sun shares this information with them.
"Well now…that might catch their attention" Onyx admits.
"Yes it would…but how huge?" Blake nods but asks for further information.
"Huge, Big Schnee Company Freighter" Sun explains.
Blake and Onyx look at each other, this was the jackpot they were looking for or at least that Blake was looking for. The Saiyan understood where Blake was coming from, not wanting to believe that the White Fang is going so low to be criminals through and through, she wanted proof while Onyx was more than happy to stop them.
"Are you sure?" Blake asks again only for Sun to nod.
Later that night, in the docks.
Onyx and Blake were laying on their bellies on top of a warehouse that had a perfect view for the containers and there was a lot of those containers with the SDC Logo, this was the perfect score for the dust robberies and if the White Fang is indeed behind it, they wouldn't pass this opportunity to steal from Jacques.
Sun appeared soon after with some green apples on his arms.
"Did I miss anything" Sun asks as he crouches next to them
"Not really, it's been real quiet here and I don't sense anything" Onyx admits.
"Sense…? Okay...I stole you some food" Sun says as he offers them apples.
"Do you always break the law without giving a second thought?" Blake asks, giving Sun a look while Onyx takes an apple and devours it.
"Hey, weren't you in some cult or something?" Sun counters
"He got you there" Onyx says, taking another apple from Sun while getting an angry glare from Blake.
"Okay, too soon" Sun backs off a little while Onyx shrugs and devours the second apple.
Onyx sensed multiple energies approaching fast and it wasn't that much longer as almost instantly a Bullhead flies over them with searchlights illuminating the containers and descends into the middle of them. The door opened with an extending ramp only for a black hooded man to step out with a white and gray uniform and a metallic mask…on the back of said uniform was the symbol of the White Fang.
"Oh no…" Blake's tone is a mix of sadness and disappointment.
"Is that them?" Sun asks.
"Yeah…that's the Fang" Onyx nods
More White Fang members come out from the ship and one with a rifle that barks an order to get some cables, now there wasn't any doubt at all, they were the ones stealing them.
"You really didn't think they were behind it did you?" Sun asks.
Blake can only stare with sadness at the scene in front of her.
"No, I think deep down I knew. I just didn't want to be right" Blake admits sadly, closing her eyes.
"Hey! What's the holdup?!" A new voice is heard as a man wearing an expensive outfit, white blazer, black trousers and shoes, red hair and a bowler hat comes down from the ship "We're not exactly the most inconspicuous bunch of thieves at the moment so why don't you animals try to pick up the pace?"
"A human? That's…odd and once racist at that" Onyx admits and Blake opens her eyes.
"This isn't right. The White Fang would never work with a human. Especially not one like that" Blake immediately stands up and draws her weapon.
"We should wait and plan ahead of us" Onyx proposes but it falls on deaf ears as Blake jumps down the roof.
"Hey, what are you doing?!" Sun exclaims.
"Damn it Blake…" Onyx grits his teeth in frustration then he turns to Sun "We still have the element of surprise, let's find a vantage point that is closer to them"
"Yeah, how about those containers?" Sun asks as he points to the containers in front of the building they are standing.
"Sounds good, let's go!" Onyx jumps off the building with Sun right behind him.
The two run to the containers and quickly start climbing them with their agility, once on the top of them, they crouch and keep an eye on Blake who is threatening this man. Onyx remembers that face from the news and a story Ruby told about how she got recruited into the academy; Roman Torchwick is the name of the man, a crime lord here in Vale.
Blake tries to reason with the White Fang members, even untying her bow so her Faunus features are free, at first they were unsure but soon Torchiwck reveals that The White Fang and himself are in business together. Blake of course tries to get info out but more turbines are heard as two more Bullhead appears that distracts the cat Faunus long enough for Torchwick to do his move, pulling the trigger on his cane while aiming at Blake's feet.
The powerful flare makes an explosion that sends Blake flying back and when she is trying to stand up, she sees that the crime lord is firing more flares at her.
"Let's wait a little, let him focus on her" Sun says as he peels a banana and offers it to Onyx who gladly takes it and eats it rather quickly but Sun keeps the peel, he had an idea.
Blake keeps dodging the, backflipping away from the explosion of the flare and even her shadow clone semblance to avoid getting hit then she runs behind some containers. Torchwick walks towards those containers and lucky for Sun and Onyx, the same containers were the ones they were standing on.
"Now" Sun says, throwing the banana peel that falls on top of Torchwick and follows up with a jump himself "Woho!"
Onyx follows after Sun with both landing with a stop on Torchwick's face and rolling forward before turning around to face him.
"Leave her alone" Sun warns.
"Or you'll find yourself in a world of hurt" Onyx narrows his eyes.
Torchwick gets up while one of the bullheads hovers above him, opening its door and multiple White Fang members jump down from it, armed with guns and swords.
"You two aren't the brightest bananas of the bunch, aren't you kids?" Roman taunts the two.
"I'll take the ones with the guns" Onyx says getting on his fighting stance.
"Cool, I'll take the others" Sun grins.
Onyx rushes forward the gun wielding members of the White Fang using his speed to strike the first one with an elbow strike right in the nose and a spinning kick as a follow up that quickly knocks him out cold. The other members decide it was enough time to aim and fire away at Onyx who just stands on his fighting stance, moving his hand at a blinding speed in front of him.
When the White Fang Members notice that their magazines are empty they focus on Onyx once more who is…intact?! They couldn't believe it since they dumped five assault rifles on him and he was just standing there without a scratch with his clenched right hand, extended towards them.
Onyx smirks as he opens his hand, letting the bullets fall to the floor. He had caught all of them to their surprise and horror and they quickly tried to reload but thanks to their shock it was rather sloppy and slow. The Saiyan leaps towards them, landing in the first and punching him in the gut with enough strength to knock him out.
One of the four remaining members tries to use his weapon to bash Onyx in the head but he ducks and does a rising uppercut that means lights out for this one. The Saiyan doesn't stop there as he backflips to stand in front of another member of the White Fang and quickly takes him out with a roundhouse kick.
Not wasting any time, he dashes forward with a flurry of punches on one of the two remaining grunts before grabs him by the arm and throws it to the last member who was still shocked and with that move, all White Fang members were out cold. Onyx turns around to see Blake and Sun fighting Torchwick and was surprised that Torchwick was actually pretty good at fighting with his cane, he knew that Torchwick was stronger than both Blake and Sun since he could sense it but the criminal and himself? roughly on the same level.
Onyx runs behind Torchwick and delivers a swift sweeping kick that knocks the criminal off his feet while he was busy deflecting Sun's nunchaku-guns. Seeing the opportunity, Blake slashes Torchwick while he was falling, sending him away from the trio.
Torchick starts standing up again and smirks as he aims up with his cane and to his luck, Onyx starts feeling dizzy once again with his vision going blurry. The bang was heard as a flare collided with a hanging container, Blake and Sun managed to roll away but not Onyx, he didn't have time so he bent his knees and caught the container with his hands, struggling with the weight so he wouldn't get crushed.
"Onyx!" Blake exclaims when she sees him struggling not to get crushed by the container.
"Don't worry about me!" Onyx grunts as he tries to get the container of him but he sees how Torchwick aims his cane at the now semi-prone Sun "Sun!"
"Hey!" Ruby's voice can be heard making everyone turn around to the direction of her voice.
"Leave our friends alone!" Jaune's voice can also be heard
Everybody can see how Ruby stands on the roof of a warehouse with her scythe, spinning it around before sticking it on the ground. She was also accompanied by an orange haired girl and Jaune.
"Oh, hello red! isn't it past your bedtime?" Roman taunts Ruby.
Onyx can see how Ruby gets distracted by the orange haired girl for a moment and it was all that Roman needed since he quickly takes advantage of the distraction and shoots a flare at Ruby that sends her back with a cry of pain.
"Ruby!" Onyx gaps before he turns his head to the thief and snarls "You'll pay for that!"
"Well monkey, I think you are busy with something else" Roman continues his taunting while he points at the container but was surprised when Onyx throws it to the side, getting a boost thanks to his anger "Kids these days are so weird"
"Round two asshole" Onyx throws his hoodie away and powers up with a loud roar.
The fifth member of O-JNPR shoots flying towards Torchwick with a punch that the thief blocks with his Cane, countering with a back fist that struck Onyx on the cheek causing his head to suffer some whiplash. The Saiyan grits his teeth as he uses the momentum he received from the backfist to spin and deliver a heel kick right in Torchwick's face as payback.
The crime lord grunts after being struck, he didn't expect a kid to be this strong but he was stronger! Torchwick swings his cane towards Onyx's neck but he blocks it with his forearms, the crime lord doesn'ts top there as he lets his cane slip down his hand, twists it a little and delivers a rising strike between Onyx's forearms and connecting with the Saiyan's chin.
Onyx stumbled a little back, that actually made him feel more dizzy than before but when he regained his bearings he was staring at the barrel of the cane as the flare came out. The explosion struck adopted Nikos square in the chest. Roman cackled like a comic villain but when the smoke cleared he saw that he was counting victory too early.
The young Saiyan t-shirt was torn apart by the explosion, he had a couple scratches and bleeding from his chin but he was still standing.
"What the hell are you made of?!" Roman groans in annoyance.
"Shut up!" Onyx dashes forward and throws a gut punch.
Torchwick can feel how the air of his lungs is gone after being struck in the stomach but he wasn't going to be outdone by a brat! He quickly delivers a left straight punch that strikes Onyx square in the face, busting his nose and making him lose his balance or so he thought as Onyx does a backflip with a rising kick that connects with the crime lord's chin.
"Gotta admit, you are quite the strong kid but you are still a monkey without any Aura it seems" Roman taunts Onyx while rubbing his chin.
"Do you ever shut up?" Onyx groans, frustrated.
"I just love the sound of my voice" Roman smirks as he steps forward with a thrust attack.
Onyx had an idea or rather, he remembers a fight he had before so he wraps his tail around the cane and pulls the thief towards him to greet him with a left elbow strike to the face and follows up with a jumping knee strike. Roman takes a stepback but plants his feet, he also had an idea and this was grabbing a fistful of Onyx's hair, dragging him down to his knee.
Onyx recoils back thanks to that dirty move, feeling how the blood runs down his nose gets stronger and his dizziness gets more intense that he stumbles into kneeling only to feel the cold barrel of Roman's cane against his head.
"You are really annoying for an animal but this is the end of the line, I'm going to blast you to an early grave" Roman gives Onyx an evil grin.
"Well, I got one for you!" Onyx aims his palm at Roman.
Both fire away, the flare colliding with Onyx's face while Roman is met with a ki blast that sends him flying back, his aura flashing for a moment. The crime lord stumbled when getting to his feet, that actually hurted and his suit was a singed meaning that this attack was strong enough to bypass some of his aura but he saw the damage he caused on Onyx and was surprised how well that monkey had tanked it by not having his head blown off.
Onyx felt how his forehead was now also bleeding down his right eye, blinding him slightly in the process, his mouth tasted like iron too but he slowly stood up ready to continue fighting.
"This kid is relentless, I can't keep this up but neither can he" Roman says and notices that the ginger girl was decimating The White Fang grunts while also cutting in half two of the bullheads with a laser "Well, this is my cue to leave"
Onyx also saw how the girl fired that lazer, at first he thought it was a beam attack but beam attacks make an explosion when it collides with something so he quickly realized it was a laser…he was a little disappointed at that but he didn't expect that Torchwick started firing flares at him so he started rolling away of the danger and deflecting them with his hands.
Roman quickly got into his bullhead and closed the door, feeling clever thanks that he managed to maintain Onyx at bay with the flares he shot but annoyed that a kid managed to go with him strike to strike and actually hurt him despite having Aura. He could see how his Aura flashed a little meaning that it was close to breaking. The Saiyan was feeling annoyed too, he should have been able to overpower someone like Torchwick but his fatigue did get the best of him and he could feel how his ki reserves were low.
The sound of a bullhead crashing distracted him, apparently the ginger girl pulled one of the bullheads that tried to steal a container to the ground with her weird weapon and that impressed him a little but when he saw her running towards the Bullhead that torchwick was escaping on fly away he got annoyed but saw the remain one fly past them with the same intention to escape.
"Oh no you don't, I have enough Ki to blast the two of you away!" Onyx yells as he aims his palm at the closest one and fires a barrage of ki blasts.
The bullhead didn't stand a chance as one of the ki blasts collided with one of the engines making the pilot lose control and crash on the docks, there was no explosion but sadly the Bullhead that Roman was using got away scott free.
"Damn it…" Onyx grunts as he collapses on the ground.
"Onyx!" He hears footsteps and the sound of Blake's voice "Hang in there!"
"I'm fine…just a little hurt here and there" Onyx rolls on so he lays on his back to see Blake kneeling by his side with a worried expression.
"Oh my god, you are bleeding a lot!" Ruby soon joins them.
"You took quite the beating dude…where is your aura and what were those things you shot?!" Sun asks, confused, worried and excited.
"Questions later" Jaune says while he checks Onyx's injuries "We need to get some help"
And as soon as the leader of O-JNPR says that, sirens are heard quite close, soon enough patrol cars and an ambulance reach the docks. Onyx groans a little but his eyes focus on the ginger girl that was also approaching them but kept her distance.
"Finally, they took forever to arrive when I called them" Jaune groans.
"You" Onyx glares at Penny.
"Me?" Penny asks, tilting his head.
"You are pretty strong, what's your name?" Onyx asks the ginger girl.
"Oh, I'm Penny, nice to meet you…" Penny smiles brightly while making a small pause so he could introduce himself
"Onyx" he says casually.
"Nice to meet you Onyx!" Penny smiles and turns to Ruby "Is he also one of your friends…? He is quite injured"
"Yes Penny, he is one of our friends" Ruby nods
"Sensational!" Penny cheers.
After some questioning by the police and Onyx getting his injuries treated by the paramedics, the six hang around some boxes while they wait for the others since Jaune and Ruby said that their teams were looking for their missing members. The Saiyan had bandages around his head, chest and arms and he leaned against one of the boxes.
"So you have this thing called Ki that lets you do almost everything Aura does but doesn't protect you from all?" Sun asks, trying to understand what he was being told
"Pretty much, I mean, if someone weaker than me hits me will probably won't do a lot or do nothing but if someone on my level, like Torchwick or stronger will actually hurt me" Onyx explains while he holds his reclaimed hoodie on his hand, not wanting to get it dirty.
"Dude, that's so weird and cool!" Sun is in awe of what Onyx does.
"It sure is! Man and you looked so awesome fighting Roman like ka-paw and pew!" Ruby waves her hands excited by the fight.
"That's…interesting, I never heard of it, I wish that you could explain it further for me Onyx…if you may of course" Penny asks.
"Are you sure you don't want to go to a hospital?" Blake asks, feeling a little guilty that it was because of her that Onyx got hurt.
"You are pretty beaten up, maybe you should" Jaune admits.
"I'm fine and sure Penny, I will give you a more thorough but we got company" Onyx nods and turns his head around.
Everybody else does the same to see the rest of team O-JNPR and RWBY approaching them. Pyrrha was the first to see Onyx and her heart stopped when she saw the bandages on his body, the scratches, his t-shirt missing and the dried blood. She immediately shoots running with Nora and Ren hot on her tail.
"Hey sis-gah!" Onyx cries in a little pain as Pyrrha wraps her arms around him in a tight hug with tears in her eyes.
"You idiot, idiot, idiot!" Pyrrha buries her head on the crook of his neck and hugs him tighter before she pulls away a little "You had me worried so much you dumb idiot…look at you, all injured, you must be starving since you didn't take your wallet or your scroll you dumbass, idiot, idiot, idiot! Never do this to me again!"
"…Sorry, I acted rashly" Onyx apologies as Pyrrha buries her face on the crook of his neck, not wanting to let go of her brother.
"You should be, she hasn't gotten any sleep in the last two days mister" Nora scolds Onyx but her expression changes to a soft smile "We missed you"
"Indeed…so is everything good?" Ren asks, wanting to know if there was any possible future drama on the horizon.
"Yeah…Blake and I are cool" Onyx nods.
"Let's see how it goes between Blake and Weiss" Jaune admits, feeling a little uneasy as the heiress approaches the former White Fang member.
The tension was real, even more when Weiss ignores Ruby's pleas to forgive Blake and walks past her while giving Blake a hard glare. Pyrrha lets Onyx go to watch and act if necessary as the whole O-JNPR was ready to mediate if things started getting ugly.
"Weiss, I want you to know that I'm no longer associated with the White Fang. Back when I was with the-" Blake doesn't finish as the heiress cuts her off.
"Stop! Do you have any idea how long we've been searching for you?" Weiss pauses while Blake is worried and her words fail her "Twelve hours. That means I've had twelve hours to think about this and in that twelve hours I've decided…"
There is a silence while Weiss prepares to say what she decided, Team O-JNPR has a worried look alongside Ruby, Yang and Sun.
"I don't care" Weiss finally gives her decision.
"You don't care?" Blake asks, surprised and feeling a wash of relief on her body.
"You said you're not one of them anymore, right?" Weiss raises an eyebrow, daring her to say otherwise.
"No, I-i haven't since i was young-" Blake stutters a little.
"Ah-bahp-bahp-baph! I don't want to hear it" Weiss makes a small pause while her expression softens a little "All I want to know is that next time something this big comes up…you'll come to your teammates. And not some…" Weiss looks at Sun for a second "Someone else"
"Of course" Blake nods, noticing she had tears on her eyes.
"Now you!" Weiss turns to Onyx and jabs her finger on his chest "The same goes to you, Don't go doing anything like a barbarian that can't use his head, you had all of us worried sick, you had me worried sick! Think before you act you dunce!"
"Fine, you are right. I let the past get the best out of me but we got that sorted out" Onyx shrugs.
"Well, you better, you barbarian" Weiss smiles softly.
"Whatever you say stuck up princess" Onyx smiles back.
"Yay! Team RWBY and O-JNPR are back together!" Ruby cheers.
"Finally things can go back to normal" Jaune feels a sense of relief.
"But I still don't know how to feel about you!" Weiss turns around and points at Sun who just laughs nervously.
"Wait a minute, where is Penny?" Ruby asks, looking around.
"I guess she had to go" Onyx shrugs but steals a glance at the car parked not far from the police cars where Penny was

Chapter done! Okay, this was a longer one but it was so fun to write since it had two fights. The spar between Yang and Onyx and Onyx vs Roman which was more close since Onyx's power level right now is a little higher than Roman's but he was also not feeling 100% since he was slowly starving himself. A fight with more stakes and with Onyx holding back less while also paying some homage to bullet catching and stuff.
Also, I finally paid off Blake's fear for Onyx and what he would have done when he found out, letting himself get lost in his anger once again was good enough but trying to be more rational while also giving him an excuse to be out there with Blake so it worked out imo. Giving the two characters a little of growth so that's nice.
This also works since this gives Onyx a different perspective of the White Fang and where the real problem lies, the ones leading it so his personal vendetta is also changing, his enemy isn't the white fang as a whole, but the Sienna Khan who is taking the more radical steps and of course Adam Taurus who is downright an extremist with a hate boner.
The addition of Sun to the story with a short lived monkey tail buddy between Onyx and Onyx (you'll see why next chapter) and making Onyx have a more impact in the cannon dialogues in away, more than impact felt more included? Don't know if I make sense and Finally, Blake and Onyx finally finding a middle ground because the two always had that tension and both working together, finally starting an actual friendship.

The science Emperor: Dude, I hope I get better soon, pardon my french but it feels like everything is fucked up with my health lately but it's getting slightly better, big question mark there but i'm feeling slightly better. Yeah, Goku will appear soon don't worry but I cannot tell you spoilers but trust me, you'll see what will happen in the next chapter, it's a juicy one. and pick that phone if you catch my drift.

Shadow Drivver: Well, technically we finished the Buu saga with the previous chapter since it was the Spirit bomb that destroyed Buu. Right now we are on the peace period in the Dragon Ball world in big quotes, I don't think i'm going to do GT because if I'm honest, even if the ending of GT is the best ending that Dragon Ball could have…GT was kinda bad IMO and I rather do Super and Toriyama had a hand on it and it would be easier to fix Super's issues than fixing GT issues.
I also have a reason why GT wouldn't fit on the crossover. GT focuses on the Black Dragon Balls and Earth issues. sure, they go through the galaxy but it's for Earth salvation. Super involves the whole Universe 7 where in the crossover, Remnant is located so everything that involves Universe 7, Remnant has to be involved too like the tournament of power, the U6 vs U7, Goku Black. and of course Broly (Reason why the story is called the Fourth Saiyan: Kakarot, Vegeta, Broly and Kabach) So I had super already in mind, at least to an extent like Tournament of Power and some Lore stuff like the Gods and What Aura does. GT would…mess that up kinda. Hope that answers that.

Charles30: It might be Unnecessary drama but it's things that happens in real life, parents and family hides things from certain members, like being adopted or that x is the actual parent or that x is not actually related or x or y or z and Onyx might not react badly at all, sure, he could get angry but let's not forget his character.
