Babysitting

Kim walks with her dad to the door, unsure about the request, but more nervous about how quickly he had accepted it. "Are you sure about this?" She says nervously and Jack gives her a withering look. "Kim. We'll be fine. Teri is not hard work." He states and Kim sighs, rubbing her brow. "Maybe not for you." She mumbles and Jack just grins. "Look, just bring her by in the morning, I've got this okay." He says and Kim looks at him and sighs, it's not like she had many other options since Stephen left.

She nods her head defeatedly. "Okay." She says and Jack smirks and hugs her, opening the door, to see her out. "I'll see the two of you tomorrow." He says and watches her leave and doesn't close the door until she's inside the elevator.

The knock on the door has Jack out of his seat and at the door in a flash, he opens it with a smile. "Good morning" he says with a grin and Teri beams in her mother's arms. "Grandpa." she squeals excitedly, stretching out to him, which causes even more of Jack's heart to expand. "Hey sweetheart he says as Kim hands her over to him and he hugs Teri close.

"There's coffee in the kitchen if you want to make one to go." He says to Kim, who groans in relief. "Oh thank god." She says and gives him her car keys, "All her bags are in the car." She says and disappears around the corner into his kitchen and then he smiles at Teri, who's perched on his hip now. "Come on then." he says and the two head down to the garage and unlock the car which Kim has parked parallel to the elevators, which he could seriously get in trouble for.

He stares at the amount of bright-coloured bags, which would only be for Teri. He glances at his granddaughter who grins at him. "Is this all for you?" He asks and she giggles and nods her head. "You need so much stuff." He says as he starts to unload all the bags. "For such a little thing too." He comments as he empties the boot of bags and stares at it all. "Let's get all this back upstairs shall we?" He says and starts to hoist bags over his shoulders. Teri giggled the whole time at all the jostling.

Back up at the apartment, Kim has finished one cup of coffee, whilst explaining to Jack what and where everything is. "I have raised a child you know sweetheart, and you seemed to turn out not so bad." He says and Kim sighs and nods her head. She pours herself a cup of coffee to go and then turns back to Teri who's happily cuddled up on her grandpa's lap watching cartoons. "Right give me a kiss baby." She says approaching the two and Teri gives her mother a big wet toddler kiss. Which Kim sneakily dries off. "Behave for Grandpa okay." She says and Teri just smiles up at her mother and nods.

Jack stands up and follows Kim to the door. "Thank you for this." She says and Jack smiles at her. "You don't have to thank me, I'd do anything for you, the both of you." He says and she smiles at him and leans in for a hug. "Go on." Jack says and he turns slightly to look at Teri in the background. "Say bye-bye to Mommy." He orders and Teri looks up and waves to Kim. "Bye-bye mommy." She says and Kim smiles and waves back and then Jack nods at her and she knows her baby's in good hands. The best hands, outside her own, in her mind. So she turns and walks away, already missing her baby girl, even though they're only going to be separated for 12 hours, that's 12 hours more than she was separated before.

Jack waits until Kim is in the elevator, then shuts the door and heads back over to the sofa. "Right madam, you and me, let's go make breakfast, what do you say?" He asks and Teri cheers and he smiles. He might enjoy this babysitting gig.
